Chapter 97 A Sudden Change of Events
“Hey, beautiful. There’s no need to rush. You’ll know what I’m going to do with you in a moment,” said the kidnappers‘ leader as a sinister smile appeared on his face. His slightly opened jacket revealed a gun at his waist. The man did not notice it, but Gwyneth’s lips curled into
a faint smile.
‘I’d say… Some people work hard to end the life of others, yet they don’t know when their life will end,” thought Gwyneth.
When the leader was about to put himsell inside her, he fell a sharp pain in his lower body. He looked at Gwyneth and realized she had kicked him in the nuts. She sneered as she stared at the man’s distorted features.
Gwyneth took advantage of the situation and pulled her hand out of the rope that had been loosened. She had already untied the rope when Wanda was negotiating with the kidnappers.
She tried to stall as long as possible to ensure their safety. She did not want anything to go wrong. However, that was not enough.
She was still sitting on the ground. All she could hear was the man screaming like a pig. She looked at him in amusement and disgust. She put her arm forward and grabbed the gun from the leader.
At the other end of the room, Wanda was already pinned down by one of the kidnappers. The man was ready to reach his hands into Wanda’s shirt, but the sudden change of events made him shudder. He turned around to see what was happening and saw Gwyneth directly firing at him.
Gwyneth did not aim at the man’s head or heart. Instead, the bullet went through his waist. This position would cause much blood loss,
but it will not kill him in the short run.
“AHH!”
Wanda felt like dying at that moment. She tightly closed her eyes as she could sense the man’s cold smirk and vile stench when she heard a gunshot. She then heard an instinctive scream and opened her eyes. She could not believe the scene in front of her. Her mouth widened in disbelief. She did not expect that the person with the gun was Gwyneth and that she shot one of the kidnappers.
Gwyneth noticed Wanda’s expression and gently nodded at her, trying to calm her down as much as possible. She felt a little sorry for Wanda, to say the least. If she had not taken her in as her secretary, she would not have had to experience so many bad situations.
When the police officers near the fishing port heard the gunshot, they immediately rushed to the scene. Liam and Hayden and their team of men also ran in the same direction. The fishermen at the port moved out of the way when they saw the crowd. They were both scared
and curious at the same time.
The rest of the kidnappers were all dumbfounded by the unexpected turn of events. None of them expected Gwyneth to obtain the gun
and shoot one of their own.
Though the kidnappers had never encountered something like this before, they had been in this circle for many years, so they quickly regained their senses. They all took their guns from their pockets and pointed them at Gwyneth.
Gwyneth was already standing in front of Wanda at that moment, completely blocking her from danger. She stood there and faced the guns without any fear. She held the pistol in her hand firmly and pointed it at them.
“Ms. Glen…” Wanda’s voice trembled. She stared at Gwyneth’s back, not knowing what to feel. All she could think of was that she had
made the right choice working under Gwyneth. After all, every bullet has its billet. Not many people would sacrifice themselves to protect
their secretaries.
At that moment, Gwyneth and the kidnappers were facing each other; none seemed relaxed.
“Don’t be rash, little girl. You don’t know when you’re next.”
Gwyneth let out an angry laugh when she heard what the kidnappers said.
“Oh? Why don’t you shoot to let me know when?” It was hard to say whether Gwyneth was actually not afraid since she was being held at
gunpoint. However, from her point of view, there was nothing else for her to be afraid of in this dire situation.
