Chapter 89 The Continuously Increasing Price
By the time Wanda returned to her senses, Gwyneth had already signed various agreements.
Gwyneth stepped off the stage, looked at the document in her hand, and thought that all of this fell miraculous. She was originally prepared to spend a lot of money on the project. But now, she received such a generous gift without doing anything.
Gwyneth felt a little uneasy since she felt obligated to return the favor. It was as if she was tied up, unable to break free.
“Ms. Glen…”
As Gwyneth sat back in her seat, and her mind wandered, she was pulled back into reality by Wanda once again.
“Yes?” she replied. Gwyneth guessed that Wanda might also be wondering about the situation and wanted some answers. However, to her surprise, Wanda came close to her ears with a mysterious look and said, “Ms. Glen, I have something to tell you.”
“Huh?” Gwyneth froze for a moment when she heard this. She then looked at Wanda and asked, “Is it something important? If not, let’s talk about it back at the office.” After saying that, Gwyneth stroked Wanda’s hair to distract herself from her earlier unsettling thoughts.
Liam, who sat next to Gwyneth, was also looking a little uneasy. He had thought about it for a while but could not figure out who the mysterious man was. ‘According to what happened, he must have some connection with Gwyneth,‘ he thought.
Liam could not figure out why the man would hand the project to Gwyneth. He looked at Gwyneth, who had a confused look on her face. It was obvious that the woman did not know who the mystery man was.
Compared to Liam’s complex emotions, Elizabeth was more jealous of Gwyneth. She could not believe that the man had worked so hard to win the Glacier Lake project just to pass it to Gwyneth. This made her go crazy with envy.
As Liam’s secretary and female companion, Elizabeth could only silently watch this unfold. She was unable to speak up or do anything about it. However, this was different for Judy.
Judy could no longer bear it. “That woman firmly established herself as the CEO of Glen Corporation yet is still involved with Liam. Now, a mysterious man generously hands her the Glacier Lake project?!”
Judy gritted her teeth, ready to stand and ask Gwyneth for an explanation. Though she did not know what to say, her emotions towered over her logical thinking skills and were getting the best of her. She felt like she would explode if she did not vent her frustrations. However, just as she got up, Gaspard held her back.
“Don’t be rash. Don’t forget that we still have Emerald Trails in the plan. It hasn’t begun yet, so don’t mess it up now.” Even though Gaspard sounded calm, his complexion showed he was not doing well. Not only was he unhappy that they could not obtain Glacier Lake, but he was mad that Gwyneth could get it without losing a single cent.
Judy could only suppress her feelings and stay calm when she heard her father’s words. The father and daughter lowered their heads and started to discuss their plan in a soft voice.
Sitting in the front row, Gwyneth decided to leave her doubts behind for a while. She looked at Gaspard and Judy, and the corner of her lips curved into a smile. After the brief commotion, they continued the auction and moved on to the next item.
The Emerald Trails Project was now up for grabs. Compared to the initial bidding price of Glacier Lake, the opening price for Emerald Trails was much lower.
As the bidders began to yell their prices one by one, Gaspard also fell an itch in his heart and picked up the bidding sign.
“Raise!”
When Gwyneth heard Gaspard’s voice, she smiled even more. She lowered her head and twirled the bidding sign as if waiting for something.
Gwyneth stopped her hand movements after two rounds. She then raised her sign with a slight flip of her wrist.
“Raise!”
When he heard Gwyneth’s voice, Gaspard almost threw the sign out of his hands. He thought Gwyneth was there for Glacier Lake. He did not expect her to join in the bidding for Emerald Trails. Moreover, Gwyneth did not raise the bid by only tens of thousands but by hundreds of thousands.
A few people quickly bid against Gwyneth, not wanting her to become the ultimate winner in this auction. As a result, the flat bidding price for Emerald Trails also began to soar.
Gaspard’s face was pale when he lost Glacier Lake, but now, he looked green. His hands trembled uncontrollably, but he gritted his teeth. and continued to up the price. His heart started to bleed the moment he opened his mouth.
A few rounds went on, and Gwyneth continued to increase the bidding, adding more than a hundred thousand dollars each time with no intention to stop.
Many people who tried to bid against her had given up. From their perspective, Emerald Trails was not really worth it, and they could not win the bidding either.
