Chapter 33 Don’t Leave Me
Wesley, noticing Gwyneth’s exhaustion, quickly walked over to a corner of the office to brew a cup of coffee for both of them. Taking a moment to ease their fatigue, they refocused on their work.
Throughout the process, Wesley never questioned Gwyneth or displayed any doubt. Over the years, he had remained faithfully by her side. His loyalty and obedience for her had become second nature to him. In his mind, Gwyneth was unquestionably worth it.
While they were dealing with the mess left behind by Glen Corporation, an incident unfolded at the Glen residence.
Ever since the disappointing outcome of the international piano competition, Judy had been struggling to recover emotionally. Feeling suffocated with no outlet, she turned to indulgent shopping sprees at the mall, using her credit card as an escape. Judy believed that splurging on luxury items would bring her happiness and help alleviate her bottled–up emotions. However, the result was an uncontrolled spending spree that maxed out her credit card.
When Gaspard returned home from the banquet, he found his beloved daughter with tear–filled eyes, as if she had been deeply hurt or
wronged in some way.
“Dad, what was the credit limit on the card you gave me? How is it already maxed out when I haven’t even made significant purchases?”
Watching Gwyneth’s demeanor at the banquet had already troubled Gaspard, and now, at home, witnessing Judy’s agitation and commotion, he couldn’t help but release a helpless sigh. Despite his concern, he refrained from using harsh words. “Sweetie, the credit
limit was quite high. Have you been spending excessively lately?”
As soon as the words left his lips, Gaspard noticed Judy narrowing her eyes, clearly displaying her anger.
“Fine, fine, I’ll give you a few more tens of thousands for now. Use that wisely.”
In the past, this situation wouldn’t have bothered Gaspard. If one card reached its limit, he would simply provide another. However, with Glen Corporation now under Gwyneth’s control, his cash flow had become severely restricted, and he had very few assets to rely on.
Upon hearing Gaspard’s words, Judy didn’t feel relieved: instead, she grew even more infuriated. “Dad, are you kidding me? Just a few tens of thousands? What am I supposed to do with that?”
*Okay, okay, just give me a few days, and I’ll arrange for more money for you. Just be patient for now,” Gaspard attempted to calm Judy by gently patting her shoulder. However, his expression showed a hint of evasion as he quickly made his way to his study on the second
floor.
Gaspard felt the pressing need to take action. It wasn’t just about Judy anymore; it went beyond that. Gaspard couldn’t bear the thought of Gwyneth gaining control over all Glen Corporation’s assets before they could be transferred to AMC at the right moment.
Sitting in his study chair, puffing on his cigar, Gaspard looked indecisive. Eventually, it appeared that he had reached a decision, as a chilling smirk slowly formed on his lips. He extinguished the cigar and promptly dialed his assistant’s number.
“Before the transfer of Glen Corporation, we had taken a construction project. Are the raw materials still stored in the warehouse?” Gaspard inquired.
Upon hearing the assistant’s affirmative response on the other end of the call, Gaspard finally felt relieved.
Meanwhile, after Elizabeth had left the banquet with Liam, they headed straight to the mall to purchase a dress before making their way to
the Luther residence.
While Elizabeth was changing her clothes, Liam took a seat on the living room couch, scrolling through the news photos from the event. His original intention was to locate a picture of Gwyneth, but it turned out to be a simple task. Among the numerous CEOs from conglomerates in attendance at the banquet, Gwyneth stood out and captivated the most attention. As Liam studied the news pictures where she confidently displayed an official smile to the crowd, a hint of jealousy crept into his emotions.
“Liam…” As Elizabeth walked out from the room, clad in her new dress, she caught sight of Liam lost in a blank stare at Gwyneth’s photo, and a surge of intense hatred welled up within her.
When Liam finally turned around, Elizabeth’s eyes were already brimming with tears. “Liam, do you regret divorcing Ms. Glen? I couldn’t help but notice how caring you were toward her at the banquet today.” Her words were accompanied by a skillful stifling of sobs. amplifying her pitiful appearance.
Liam couldn’t possibly remain unaware of Elizabeth’s feigned emotions. Nevertheless, their years of friendship couldn’t be discarded

simply because there were certain things he hadn’t fully grasped.
Closing the webpage on his phone, Liam stood up, his gaze unwaveringly fixed on Elizabeth. Though his face remained familiar, there was an undeniable difference about it.
Elizabeth could sense it. Liam’s eyes used to brim with tenderness and care when he looked at her, but now those emotions seemed to have dissipated into nothingness. The thought of possible reasons behind this sudden change made her heart skip a beat.
“Elizabeth, I made a promise to always take care of you, to protect you, and I haven’t forgotten that.”
“Really, Liam? I’m really scared that one day you’ll leave me.”
Liam’s words hit her like a shot in the arm. Without a moment’s hesitation, she threw herself into his arms. However, hidden from Liam’s sight, her face, marked by tears, quickly morphed Into a triumphant smile.
