Redeemed From Caged Love By Karrin Chapter 47

Chapter 47

After some chat, fatigue started to creep in. Caleb gave a yawn.

Kendric listened quietly, and then frowned, “grandpa, is it too late for me to

correct it?”

Caleb’s voice was nearly a whisper, but he emphasized, “you gotta show

Cely more respect and keep your temper in check. Got it?”

Kendric thought he had already been very much in control of his temper.

Tonight, she dared to give him a slap, and before he could even get mad, she

quivered like a jittery cat. He had to swallow his anger and offered comforts.

Kendric mused, “she’s got quite the temper now… and she ain’t even saying

she loves me.”

On the other end of the call, Caleb gradually shut his eyes.

The caregiver took the phone and whispered, “Mr. Melville Sr. has fallen

asleep.”

After hanging up, Kendric did some serious thinking.

Grandfather’s advice made him decide to pass over Celeste’s erroneous acts

today. She’s now like a bird, itching to try her wings, ready to take off at any

moment.

3

All he needed to do was to prevent her from flying away. If she could just be

a bit more obedient… then he wouldn’t mind being more patient to her.

Kendric finally convinced himself.

When he returned to the bedroom, Celeste was lying on the bed with her

back facing outside outside.

He laid down beside her. Celeste feigned sleep with her eyes closed.

His movements behind her were gentle. His hand hesitated in the air for a

moment before finally landing on her shoulder, turning her entire body toward

him and pulling her into his embrace.

Having just taken a shower, he carried a faint scent of mint.

He gently lifted Celeste’s head, and his arm between her neck and the

pillow, allowing her to rest on him.

This posture was laden with possessiveness. Celeste nestled against his arm, and his other arm draped over her waist, ready to tighten his grip at any sign of her movement.

After arranging everything, Kendric felt much more at ease, and his nerves gradually relaxed.

Yet the hand on her waist was holding her too tightly, making Celeste hard to sleep.

“Let go!” she yelled, struggling uncomfortably and pushing against his chest forcefully. She exerted all her strength, but he remained unmoved.

“Get your hands off me.”

Kendric’s half–open eyes stared at her without blinking.

He totally ignored her words, which enraged Celeste to the core. She suddenly lunged forward and bit his neck.

His throbbing artery was hidden beneath his fragile skin. Celeste bit his

neck fiercely, and soon, blood started oozing out.

She tasted a hint of blood, but Kendric, as if impervious to pain, remained

unmoved.

He peered down at her. Surprisingly, he didn’t react angrily to the pain, nor

did he loosen his grip on her.

His emotionless face seemed to say, ‘whatever you do—I’m not letting go.‘

The more Celeste thought about it, the angrier she got.

“Are you out of your mind?”

Kendric had no interest in arguing with her. He simply closed his eyes.

“You scoundrel!”

“Bastard!”

“Nasty jerk!”

He seemed asleep, but his arms still held her tightly, leaving no room for escape. His actions conveyed a clear message, her insults were in vain.

She glared at him.

Kendric lifted an eyebrow. “Aren’t you sleepy?”

“How can I sleep when you’re hugging me like this?”

“You’ll get used to it.”

Get used to it? Did he dare to say that?

Celeste felt like her ribs were being squeezed, almost with no spare air to breathe.

“You shameless jerk.”

“Mmm,” his voice was heavy with drowsiness.

Celeste sighed in frustration because she found that this man was really

about to fall asleep.

She squirmed to turn away from him, and stretched out, poking her arms

and legs out from under the covers.

She contorted her body into a C shape.

In this challenging pose, she gradually slipped into a deep slumber.

Hearing her steady breath, Kendric opened his eyes and cautiously tucked

her hands and feet back under the covers.

After that he shut his eyes once more and drift into the sleep.

Early the next morning, Celeste woke up to find Kendric nowhere in sight.

She needed to drive her father to the research institute today. She hopped

out of bed barefoot and rummaged in her bag for her phone, but she didn’t find

it there.

She span around, and found her phone lying on the nightstand.

3

That jerk Kendric had been snooping through her phone again!

As she descended the stairs, she spotted Madelyn sitting in the dining room, enjoying breakfast, yet there was no sign of Kendric and Myles.

She wandered barefoot into the kitchen.

Madelyn frowned at her, “you’re not wearing shoes again. That’s uncouth!”

Celeste didn’t bother to spare Madelyn a glance. Her fair feet trampled on

the floor, just like trampling over Madelyn’s face. Madelyn gritted her teeth.

In the kitchen, the housemaid had prepared breakfast. Comparing to sit

face to face with Madelyn in dinning room, Celeste would rather stand beside

the kitchen island and savored her pancakes.

“Where’s my dad?”

“Mr. Melville took your father out early this morning. I’m not sure where

they went,” the housemaid replied.

Celeste paused for a second, then suddenly turned back toward the living

room.

Beside the living room’s sofa sat an antique landline phone. Celeste swiftly

dialed Kendric’s number, and he answered promptly.

Her heart raced, and her voice trembled slightly, “where have you taken my

dad?”

There was a moment of silence on the other end before a female voice

responded, “Mr. Melville is currently unavailable to take your call.”

“Where is he?”

“Sorry, I can’t share that information.”

After a brief moment of panic, Celeste forced herself to calm down. She

dialed her father’s number, but there was no answer.

Now she realized her feeble resistance was utterly insignificant in front of Kendric.

He didn’t even need to make a conscious effort to manipulate her. He held

too many of her vulnerabilities in his grasp. Her friends, her father, everything

dear to her – he could easily snatch them away and annihi
