Hector seemed reluctant to go to the hospital. He furrowed his brow when Calista suggested it.
“It’s just some scratches. A bit of ointment and a few days‘ rest should do the trick. No need for the
hospital,” Hector casually remarked.
Charlotte and her friends were inside the elevator with Lucian as Calista reached the elevator.
Charlotte let out a condescending snort before turning her head.
Fresh from her divorce, Calista wasted no time getting cozy with another man. It was shameless,
and Charlotte was convinced it was a deliberate move to make Lucian jealous.
However, Calista was puzzled by Charlotte’s attitude. Had Charlotte lost her mind after surviving
that river jump last time?
Calista and Hector stepped into the elevator. Calista pushed the button for the first floor.
Charlotte had thought about reserving a room upstairs at the Luminary Lounge, but her father had
cautioned her against it.
He mentioned that men generally didn’t appreciate women who came across as too forward, even
without intentions. Staying in a hotel room could send the wrong message.
Charlotte couldn’t help but find Calista rather intrusive. Although she wanted to kick Calista and
Hector out immediately, Hector seemed like a tough nut to crack.
His short–cropped hair, stern features, and carefree demeanor gave off the impression of a troublemaker. It wouldn’t come as a shock if he had a criminal past.
Upon reaching the first floor, Charlotte helped Lucian out of the elevator, but before she could continue, she was stopped by one of Cade’s bodyguards.
Lucian was difficult to manage in his drunken state, as he was practically dead weight.
Charlotte struggled to help him walk, and this interruption highlighted her privileged demeanor. as a wealthy heiress.
She couldn’t contain herself and shouted at the bodyguard, “What’s the matter? Why are you blocking us?”
The bodyguard remained calm and responded professionally, “Mr. Carter’s orders are clear. Only

Calista was taken aback. Why was Lucian her responsibility now? Hector grabbed Calista and urged her to move quickly toward the exit.
“Let’s go, don’t get caught up in this mess.”
Hector couldn’t drink and drive, so he passed the car keys to Calista. Just as Hector and Calista got
comfortable in the car, the rear door suddenly swung open.
The bodyguard assisted Lucian into the backseat, fastening his seatbelt, and stated, “Ms. Everhart,
Mr. Northwood is in your care.”
Then, with a final closing of the car door, the bodyguard briskly made his way to another vehicle.
There was no need for a sprint.
The bodyguard moved fast and was comfortably seated in another car in no time. His movement
was remarkably swift, reminiscent of agile rabbits!
Hector started rolling up his sleeves and remarked, “I’m going to kick that guy out.”
However, Calista locked the door and commanded, “Just stay put.”
She couldn’t abandon Lucian in such a drunken state. She would be in deep trouble if something happened to him, whether he froze or choked on his vomit.
Plus, she dreaded the consequences she’d face from Timothy. Calista started the car, pulled out of the parking space, and merged onto the main road.
Hector’s back hurt, so he couldn’t slouch for relief. Additionally, the alcohol made him feel dizzy.
Although he was tempted to unleash a string of curses because of the pain, he knew he had to keep his cool in front of Calista.
After the car had covered some ground, Hector, whose vision was becoming increasingly blurred, scrutinized the street outside attentively.
He furrowed his brow and inquired, “Aren’t we heading to your place?”
Hector was drunk and injured, so leaving him alone wouldn’t be safe. Did Calista even know where he lived?
Calista responded with a hint of irritation, “Nope.”

Hector continued, “Then where are we going? I’m drunk, and it’s unsafe to leave me alone.”
Fed up with his complaints, Calista snapped.
“We’re getting a room.
Hector chuckled, “Isn’t that romantic? But why bring Lucian along? Find a crowded place, and I’ll
take care of him.”
Calista remained silent. Twenty minutes later, the car stopped at the hospital. Calista gave the
drunk and mumbling Hector a nudge.
“Get out. We’re here.”
Hector stumbled out of the car, his mind still fixated on getting a hotel room.
As Calista approached the back door, Hector draped his arm over her shoulder and suggested, ”
Leave him in the car. Let’s go to sleep.”
Calista brushed Hector off. She was determined to wake Lucian, but he remained unresponsive
despite her attempts. Realizing she needed assistance, she went to the hospital to find help.
The hospital staff arrived, placing Lucian on a stretcher. Hector, also lying on a stretcher,
commented, “Your hotel service is quite remarkable. What’s its name?” 1
The hospital staff and Calista exchanged awkward glances.
Hector began to regain some clarity as his wounds were being cleaned.
He glanced at the bloodied gauze and various instruments on the tray, feeling the pain in his back that almost made him jump out of his seat.
“Wait a minute! We were supposed to get a room. How did we end up at the hospital?”
Seated in a chair, Calista responded calmly, “We’ll get a room after your wounds are tended to.”
Twenty minutes later, Hector stared at the floor in disbelief as he lay on the hospital bed. His back was injured, and he could only lie flat or on his side.
He hadn’t even looked at Calista on the adjacent bed when he asked, “Is this what you mean by getting a room?”
Calista retorted, We have a bed and a bathroom. That’s a room isn’t it?
Hector sighed, “I’d be happy with just you, even if we were sleeping on a hospital bed. But why is
Lucian here, too?”
Before Calista could respond, Lucian on the neighboring bed groaned. His once–flat posture now curled up in agony. He clutched his stomach and furrowed his brow.
Calista kicked Hector’s bed and demanded, “He’s drunk because of you. Go check on him.”
Hector couldn’t be bothered with Lucian and wished he would suffer. Besides, Lucian was cunning
and deceitful. Who knew if his distress was genuine or an act?
Hector muttered, “He’s faking it. A troublemaker like him will probably outlive sea turtles.”
Calista chided him.
“Go on. The nurse warned us he can’t throw up on the bed, or we’ll end up with a bill.”
Hector reluctantly got up and walked over, looking down at Lucian.
“It’s probably nothing. He’s likely dreaming about being in the womb. Look at his position,” he
remarked with a hint of sarcasm.
Lucian moved his lips, and it wasn’t clear if he was trying to speak or feeling nauseous.
Calista approached Lucian, pressing the call button on the bedside and leaning down to assess his
condition.
The doctor had mentioned that Lucian had consumed excessive alcohol, so she needed to keep a close eye on him. Suddenly, Lucian opened his eyes, and his intense gaze fixed on Calista.
Calista was caught off guard and instinctively leaned back, but Lucian swiftly reached out, gripping the back of her head, and pulled her into a passionate, forceful kiss…
