Chapter 10 The Real Fiancée
In the Gilmore’s home. Diana looked at Wilbert, the head of the Bradshaw family in front of her, and said nervously, “Mr. Bradshaw, what brings you here?” After saying that, she turned her gaze to Henry, who was sitting in a wheelchair before her, her heart filled with contempt. Diana thought, “What’s the use of the Bradshaw family being powerful? “It’s a pity that Henry is a cripple, and he won’t inherit the Bradshaw family in the future.” “Mrs. Gilmore, I hope you can reconsider the engagement between our two families.” Wilbert was sitting upright, exuding a majestic aura. Diana didn’t expect that the Bradshaw family actually valued this engagement so much that even Wilbert came in person. She panicked. “It’s really not that I don’t agree. It’s mainly because Kirsten doesn’t agree…” Diana hated Elvia so much now. She thought, “That wicked girl! “She made the decision without our permission, causing me to be at a disadvantage in front of Wilbert.” “The two children haven’t met before, so it’s inevitable that they don’t have any feelings for each other. They’ll get along with each other after spending some time together. Don’t worry. My grandson is very considerate. He will treat Kirsten well.” Without waiting for Diana to speak, Wilbert took out a check. “To show our sincerity, this 16 million dollars is considered our investment, and when the two children get engaged, we will take out another 16 million dollars as a wedding gift.” Diana’s eyes widened. She thought, “16 million dollars of investment and 16 million dollars as a wedding gift? “The Bradshaw family is really rich!” She was momentarily stunned. Wilbert saw that she was still hesitating and continued, “Kirsten saved my granddaughter a few days ago. She is the benefactor of my family. We are destined to become in-laws. Don’t you think so?” Diana froze for a moment. “Could it be that you misunderstood? I haven’t heard Kirsten mention that she saved your granddaughter.” “She saved a five-year-old girl in front of the mall two days ago. That’s Heather, my granddaughter.” Originally, Henry had asked Maverick to send a thank-you gift over that day, but something happened, so the gift had not been delivered. Kirsten, who had just come back, stopped in her tracks. She thought, “In front of the mall? “Elvia really saved that girl?” Kirsten calmed down and walked in. “Grandma.” Kirsten greeted Diana and turned her head, startled to see Henry. She thought, “He’s so handsome! “Why didn’t I see this good-looking man in Banyan City before?” She quickly withdrew her eyes and turned to ask Diana, “Who are they?” Diana said, “This is Wilbert Bradshaw, and that is Henry, his grandson.” As for Arthur and Maverick, Diana didn’t know them and therefore didn’t introduce them. Kirsten thought, “Henry?” Kirsten’s face changed, and her eyes looking at Henry instantly carried a hint of disdain. She thought, “So he is that cripple. “What’s the use of being good-looking? “A wreck is a wreck.” Thinking of what Wilbert had just said, Kirsten snorted. She thought, “So that ugly little girl before the mall is Henry’s sister. “Sure enough, they are a family! “One is ugly. “One is crippled.” Kirsten didn’t show her emotions on her face. “Hello, Mr. Wilbert and Mr. Henry.” “Hello,” Wilbert smiled. “Kirsten, I have to thank you for saving Heather that day. What kind of payment do you want? Just say it.” He had been in the business world for many years. The disdain in Kirsten’s eyes did not escape his eyes. If it were anyone else today, he might scold them angrily. Yet she was Kirsten, the Gilmore family’s eldest daughter. Even though he was upset, he couldn’t express it. Hearing the payment, Kirsten was a little tempted. The Bradshaw family was the top family in Aelbarrow, and anything from them was worth a lot of money. However, she quickly gave up this idea. She didn’t want to have anything to do with Henry. So she smiled and said, “I just saw her on my way and helped her. If it had been anyone else, I would have helped them too.” After a pause, Kirsten added, “By the way, Mr. Wilbert, I think you might have misunderstood. I am not the eldest daughter of the Gilmore family.” At those words, Wilbert, Henry, Arthur, and Maverick were all stunned. After a long time, Arthur looked at her. “Really?” “Yes. I’m my father’s adopted daughter. Elvia, my sister, was just brought back a few days ago,” Kirsten smiled slightly. Arthur stared at Kirsten for a few seconds before suddenly scowling. “Could it be that you guys found a person to help you escape the engagement?” Kirsten was indeed an adopted daughter. They knew about it when they looked into her. However, they had never heard that Leonel, who had adopted Kirsten, had another daughter. Wilbert’s expression was also getting ugly. He actually didn’t have to let Henry marry Kirsten. It was just that Wilbert had promised Paloma. He didn’t want to go back on his word. That was why he tried to get them engaged. But the Gilmore family used this kind of excuse to refuse him. It was really a bit too much. Seeing Wilbert’s face was sullen, Diana hurriedly explained, “It’s true. I have another granddaughter. After she left with her mother back then, we lost her news. We only found her a few days ago. She was the one who called Mr. Henry to break off the engagement.” Henry’s deep eyes narrowed slightly, and his slender fingers tapped his leg. The person who had called him did not sound much like Kirsten. “In that case, can you call her over for a talk?” Wilbert’s face relaxed. “I already called her. She must be on her way here,” Diana replied carefully. Leonel and Jessica were already waiting when Elvia got to the door of the Gilmore’s home. She walked over and said, “Mr. Gilmore.” Leonel nodded and then explained, “Lina called me, saying that your grandmother had a heart attack and wanted us to hurry back. She is my mother after all…” Elvia curved her lips, thinking, “A heart attack?” “Since it is so serious, why is she waiting for her son to see her rather than go to the hospital? “Can her son treat her?” Only a simple man like Leonel would believe that. “I understood. Now that we’ve come, let’s just go and take a look.” She wanted to see what tricks Diana was trying to play. They followed the maid in. Upon entering the living room, they saw Wilbert and the others. Elvia raised her eyes to the few people and met Henry’s gaze. They both froze at the same time. She thought, “It’s him?” He thought, “It’s her?”
