Joshua was uncomfortable listening to him, and he only replied, “I was the one who asked for the divorce, and it has nothing to do with Jayleen.”
“I don’t understand why you were with her in the first place?” Old Man Neal was both angry and frustrated. “What was so good about her? Didn’t you break up before?”
“We broke up because of a misunderstanding. I thought she left me because I didn’t appreciate her, but later I found out that. she had a terminal illness and didn’t want me to get hurt, so she deliberately said we should break up,” Joshua explained.
Old Man Neal was confused. “What?”
“Six months ago, Jayleen called me and told me the truth, saying that she had been cured of the illness,” Joshua said, unable to express how he felt about it.
He did not really know if he loved Jayleen or not. When he learned about her illness, he just wanted to give her a home where she could live without worries, and he did not think too much about anything else.
“Grandpa, she left me for my sake, and I can’t let her down,” Joshua continued.
“What about Cynthia?” Old Man Neal was getting angrier. “Have you considered her feelings? From the moment you choose to marry her, you should be responsible for your marriage.”

“What about Jayleen and her illness? She had it, and now she’s cured?” Old Man Neal was rational. “If it were that easy to cure a terminal illness, then Grandma wouldn’t have died so quickly!” 1
Joshua froze.
“From the beginning, the only person you have let down is Cynthia! Even if Jayleen is as you said, it was her own choice, and no one will wait for anyone forever,” Old Man Neal added.
Listening to these words, Joshua’s heart was touched for a moment, and his emotions were complex.

“No need,” Joshua declined.
Old Man Neal did not try to convince him further.
Joshua thought about how Moses had taken Cynthia away for quite some time and stood up, saying, “I’ll be going now. I’ll visit you when I have time.”
“Get out, get out, get out!” Old Man Neal was in a bad mood.
Joshua left Old Neal Manor with long strides. He did not let the driver take him and instead took a car himself. As soon as he left, he called Yoel.
Yoel was about to go to bed when he saw that it was Joshua calling. He took a deep breath and answered with a smile, “Yes, Mr.
Neal.”
“Find out what illness Jayleen had before,” Joshua said, his lips slightly parted.
“Ms. Shaw?” Yoel thought he had misheard.
“Yes.” Joshua turned a corner at an intersection.
“Why not ask Ms. Yates to check it?” Yoel suggested, wanting to avoid the work. “Ms. Yates is better at researching information than we are.”
