With that, Romeo hurried after them.
Paige went slightly pale and opened her mouth.
But before she could say something, the Duncan family had left.
Odin banged on the table and snapped, “F uck! Paige, you end up like this because you insisted on marrying that divorced guy. He doesn’t care about you at all. You put me, such an old man, through this s hit.”
Mariah was angry too. “Odin, don’t shout at her. She’s a good girl. It’s your fault because you’re a negligent father. I shouldn’t have let you have her sole custody. You have made her whatever she is now.”
“If you care about our daughter so much, why are you staying with those male models from the company all the time? Why did you travel abroad with them instead of spending more time with her? Now you’re blaming me?” Odin said.
Tears came to Paige’s eyes, and she covered her ears with her hands.
She didn’t want to hear any of this.
She grew up with fights between them like this.
None of them ever cared about her.
Mira watched with a frown. As an outsider, she didn’t get to say anything here.
The fight lasted for a few minutes. Mariah was depressed and said, “Paige, you’ve been stubborn since childhood. I won’t meddle in your
relationship with Allen again. You’ve seen their attitude. You won’t have an easy life. And I’m a successful woman, so I won’t put up with them. Who do they think they are?”
With that, Mariah left without having lunch.
“Tell Allen that I won’t let him into our home if he doesn’t come to our door and apologize to us,” said Odin. Then he also left angrily.
The private room fell silent. There were only Mira and Paige left.
Neither of them expected this.
“Paige, there are only two of us. If you want to cry, don’t hold yourself back.” Mira gave her a tissue.
“I’m not crying.” Paige shook her head but her eyes were red. “Mira, was it wrong to hold this?”
Mira said with a sigh, “If I had seen this coming, I might have taken you to the country to pick berries.”
Paige looked confused.
“Have you heard the story? Lilly Andersen was attacked by a swarm of bees, and her face was swollen for a whole week. You need that pain to clear your head.”
Paige chuckled but soon was upset again. “When we got married, his parents were nice to me. And Allen and I were close before his daughter came. I don’t know why things changed…”
“Obviously, Abby is turning them against you.” Mira glanced at Paige and continued, “I suspect that Abby ran out on purpose. The fight between your parents and Allen’s parents was inevitable without her.”
Paige frowned and said, “She’s only five years old. If what you say
about her is true, she would be too…
“Maybe she was egged on by someone. Is Abby still talking to her mother?” Mira asked.
