Chapter 14
“Stop crying.” Hugh pulled out two tissues and handed them to Jacey.
Jacey did not take the tissues. She looked up and cried to him with tears on her face.
“Hugh, if I had known about your accident, I would have thrown everything away, come back, and married you. Even if I became a widow after marrying you, I would have no regrets. But why… Why are you already someone else’s after I come back?”
Hugh wanted to say that he never belonged to anyone.
Yet seeing her appearance, he didn’t say it after all. At last, he said, “I guess we aren’t destined. Let bygones be bygones. I’m sure you’ll find someone better in the future.”
“I don’t want anyone else!”
Jacey clutched his sleeve. “Hugh, you’re the only one I love. I can’t fall in love with anyone else in this life except you. I know you only got married for your condition. You don’t love that woman at all, or you wouldn’t have dated me. Now that you’re awake, divorce her, OK?”
“Do you think marriage is some kind of joke? Do you think I get to divorce her as I please?”
She kept crying, wearing Hugh’s patience off. “Lucas, send

Ms. Tyler back to rest.”
Lucas walked in and saw Jacey crying non–stop, pulling Hugh’s clothes and refusing to let go.
“No! Hugh, I don’t want to part with you. I’d rather die without you.”
Lucas couldn’t bear to hear.
Yet after glancing at Hugh, who was frowning, he had to take her out whatsoever.
Finally, everything fell quiet.
Hugh somehow felt relieved.
When he and Jacey used to date, she was always reasonable. It was the first time he had ever seen her behave in such a way.
Yet he didn’t feel anything.
He dated Jacey, because he had reached a certain age to get married.
Also, the Tyler family had a relatively great reputation. What was more, Jacey was talented and the top young lady in Svallion City.
A woman like Jacey was fit for marriage.
Hugh had never considered his unknown fiancée from the Boyle family.
Yet somehow he and Mira got married at last.

Even though he and Mira would divorce sometime in the future, there was no need for him to entangle with Jacey.
Hugh glanced at the papers on his desk and quickly put personal matters behind him.
No woman was more important than his career.

Jacey was downstairs.
Jacey had no idea Hugh would kick her out so ruthlessly.
“Ms. Tyler, please get in.” Lucas pulled open the car door.
“Tell me, Lucas, how is Hugh getting along with that woman from the Boyle family?” Jacey refused to get in the car, desperate for information.
“I’m sorry, Ms. Tyler, but I’m not at liberty to tell anyone about Mr. Leopold’s private life.” Lucas shook his head.
Jacey gritted her teeth. Lucas refused to do her any favor.
Now that she couldn’t get anything from him, she could only go to someone else. “Forget it. You don’t have to send me back. I’m in a bad mood, and I want to walk alone for a while.”
Lucas didn’t push her. “Be careful then.”
After leaving the Leopold Group, Jacey drove to the Leopold’s villa.
Sylvia happened to be at home and greeted Jacey herself,
“Sylvía, it’s a necklace I bought when I was a guest at an earl’s place on tour in Esteria.”
Jacey took out the gift prepared in the bag. “I heard that the famous jeweler, James Ernest, designed the necklace himself. I know you like to collect all kinds of necklaces, so I went to the earl’s wife specifically to buy this necklace for you.”
“That’s so sweet.”
Sylvia’s eyes lit up. She had a few hobbies, and collecting necklaces was one of them. “How much? I’ll pay you.”
“No need. As long as you like it. And here’s the watch I bought Taryn abroad. There’s nothing she likes more than collecting watches.”
Jacey took out the gifts all at once. Meanwhile, her eyes went red, and she burst into tears.
Sylvia sighed, “You silly girl…” She felt so sorry for Jacey. She quickly took a handkerchief and wiped Jacey’s tears.
“I’m just so sad,” Jacey said, sobbing. “I came back only to find out Hugh had been in a car accident and was married.”
Sylvia was surprised. “You didn’t know?”
“No one told me. I had been preparing for the tour back then, and I went to around 8 nations in 20 days,” Jacey said. “The second I came home yesterday, my parents told me that Hugh had been in a car accident. You wanted me to
marry over at first so as to wake him up, yet my parents heard that he was dying, so they didn’t want me to marry over, for fear that I might end up being a widow. If I had known earlier, I would have come back anyway. I’ll be with him forever even after we die.”
“I see.”
Sylvia understood something. She said, “We approached your parents, but they said no. In fact, I understand. Even I thought that Hugh couldn’t make it. Who wanted to marry their girls over anyway? No one besides the Boyle family who has always been poor.”
“Sylvia…” Jacey sniffed and lowered her voice. “Tell me. Hugh and that woman…”
“Hugh doesn’t like her at all.”
At the mention of Mira, Sylvia was very dissatisfied. “He kicked her out yesterday.”
“Really?” Jacey’s eyes lit up.
“Jacey, no one is as good as you,” Sylvia sighed. “Mira isn’t worthy of Hugh at all. She is from an unknown family, and she hasn’t seen the world. She can do nothing but irritate others. There’s been no peace in the house since she came
here.”
Jacey was secretly thrilled. To her surprise, the Leopold family disliked Mira so much.
“Don’t say that, Sylvia. I heard that the Boyle family is
engaged in the building materials business in Svallion City.

Last time I heard from my dad, Odin was begging real estate developers to work with him for business.”
Hearing that, Sylvia was even more disdainful. “It’s so embarra**ing to have the Boyle family as our relatives.”
Meanwhile, footsteps could be heard from upstairs.
Mira was about to go downstairs for some water.
She happened to hear Sylvia’s words.
Sylvia’s voice was neither too loud nor too low. Mira was young and had great hearing, and she heard Sylvia’s words clearly.
“Sylvia, since when did we embarra** you?”
Mira said while sizing up the woman next to Sylvia.
The woman looked a few years older than Mira, gentle and dignified. Yet the woman’s face was full of tears, and Mira figured that no man could say no to the woman when they saw her cry.
Meanwhile, Sylvia was also sizing up Mira, who was in her loungewear.
Mira had straight hair, and her baby–fat face looked
innocent and sweet. It seemed that Mira was only about 18 years old.
Seeing that, Jacey was relieved a lot.
She was confident that Mira wasn’t Hugh’s type.
“You embarra** us everywhere,” Sylvia said bluntly. “The Boyle family and we are in–laws after all. Please, when your dad goes around begging for a deal, don’t embarra** us, OK? Once word gets out, we will be so humiliated.”
Mira said, “If you’re embarra**ed by us, then why don’t you introduce some business to our family and spare us from the trouble of begging others?”
