Hugh narrowed his handsome eyes viciously.
He thought, “It’s been a long time since anyone talked to me like this.
“She throws what I said last night back at my face exactly.
“What a revengeful woman.”
Mira was at ease. “You’re pissed off, aren’t you?”
“Mira, if you think your life has been easy, you can just tell me. You don’t have to go through all this trouble.” Hugh glared at her.
“Mr. Leopold, I just want you to know how I felt last night.”
Mira wasn’t scared or angry. Instead, she was smiling. She said, “We have a cooperative relationship, so we are equals. But you’re always so superior, and you tell me to piss off every now and then. No matter how much you are above me in social rank, in our marriage, we are subject to each other.”
A surprise flashed across Hugh’s eyes, and he was lost in thought.
It was the first time he had met a woman like Mira.
Other women approached him with either caution or deference, lest he should be displeased.

Such a feeling made him more curious and inquisitive
about Mira.
“Think about it yourself.”
Mira said, turned around, and left.
Hugh’s handsome face twisted slightly as he looked at her haughty back and pink suitcase.
He thought, “Isn’t that what I always say to my subordinates?”
Mira walked into the Leopold’s villa.
It was ten o’clock in the morning, and both Hugh and Brady had gone to work.
Brenden, Taryn, and Sylvia were home.
“Hello, Dad, Mom, Sylvia,” Mira greeted them politely.
“Well, well. You still remember to come back?” Sylvia said sarcastically, “You ran away the first night you went to live with us. I thought you hated us so much that you were never going to come back.”
“You got me wrong, Sylvia.” Mira’s expression changed, her eyes aggrieved. “I didn’t want to go, but Hugh told me to get lost. I was so upset that I left.”
“What? He told you to get lost?” Brenden was furious.

Taryn was always protective of Hugh, so she hurriedly said, “Hugh didn’t know her before. You know how Hugh is. It’s perfectly normal that he has a hard time accepting her in such a short time. Yet Mira…”
Then Taryn glared at Mira with dissatisfaction. “You were so cowardly. You left, just because Hugh said so? Are you that obedient? What if he tells you to kill yourself? Will you do it as well?”
Mira pretended to be serious and pondered for a few seconds, and then said in a low voice, “My dad told me since I was young that a woman should always do whatever her husband tells her to do.”
Taryn didn’t know what to say.
“Nonsense! Such feudal ideas taught by your father no longer apply to the age we’re in,” Brenden stood up and said. “From now on, you don’t have to take Hugh’s words seriously. If he dares to bully you, you can come to me. I will deal with him.”
“Thanks, Dad.”
Though Mira sounded grateful, she had mixed feelings.
Brenden was probably the only person in the family who had a good impression of her, but to divorce Hugh, she had to make Brenden hate her.
She sighed silently.
“Get Mrs. Leopold’s luggage upstairs,” Brenden ordered.

The maid quickly took Mira’s suitcase and carried it up to the second floor.
As the maid was about to enter Hugh’s master bedroom, Mira stopped her and asked, “Is there a guest bedroom on the second floor? Take my luggage to the guest bedroom, OK?”
The maid was startled and in a dilemma. “Mrs. Leopold, are you going to sleep in a separate room with Mr. Leopold?”
Just as Mira was about to speak, she heard Brenden’s serious voice coming from behind her. He said, “They are newlyweds. Why should they sleep in separate rooms? Put her luggage inside. By the way, isn’t there a couch in the room? Move it out.”
Mira was stunned.
Brenden had just disqualified her from sleeping on a couch.
“Dad…”
Looking bitter, she turned back. “Hugh and I haven’t got time to know each other that well. He may not be happy if we share a room. And I…”
“He has to work during the day, and if you sleep in separate rooms, you’ll never get to know each other,” Brenden snorted. “I only met Taryn once before we got married, and we got to know each other well after sleeping together a few times.”

She wanted to scream to express her reluctance.
After forcing herself to move into the master bedroom, Mira didn’t unpack at once. If Hugh asked her to get lost again, she wouldn’t have to pack up.

The Leopold Group was the biggest group in Svallion City, and it was one of the biggest companies in the world.
Only company insiders knew that around five years ago, the Leopold Group was just a medium–sized company with a few hundred employees.
After Hugh, the second son of the Leopold family, took over the company, it became a giant in Svallion City thanks to his drastic reforms and aggressive expansion.
The news of Hugh’s accident some time ago brought the Leopold Group to a low point.
Hugh returned to the company today, and the employees had prepared a grand welcome ceremony.
After they had been waiting for a long time, finally, they saw Hugh.

Before they got to open any champagne bottles, Hugh had taken the flowers and thrown them straight into the bin, glancing sharply across the crowd in front of him.

When he returned to the office, Lucas cautiously
approached him and said to him, “Mr. Leopold, Ms. Tyler is here. She is waiting for you inside.”
Hugh paused and frowned coldly.
Then he pushed the door open.
Standing next to the French window, Jacey turned around at once, her eyes red. “Hugh, I never thought I’d see you again!”
With that, she threw herself into Hugh’s arms eagerly.

Jacey didn’t succeed. She turned back and burst into tears.
“Hugh, you hate me, don’t you? I swear. I didn’t know until a few days ago that you had a car accident on the way back from the night you sent me abroad. My parents kept it from me. You know I was touring abroad at that time, and I was so busy every day. I couldn’t get through to you on the phone whatsoever. I was so worried you would leave me. “I returned yesterday. My parents told me that your family had reached out some time ago, wanting me to marry over, yet my parents turned them down without telling me, as they thought you were dying.”
As Jacey spoke, she became sadder and more and more desperate. Tears streamed down her face.
Hugh’s cold face softened a little.
