Chapter 165 Missing and Kidnapped
After Erin left the oceanfront villa, two bodyguards dressed in casual clothes followed behind her. She turned to say to them, “Both of your don’t have to follow me. I want to go on a walk on my own.”
The bodyguards were a little troubled. One of them said, “Miss Lane, before Mr. Frost left, he said you will need at least two bodyguards. with you if you were to go out on your own.”
“It’s fine. It’s basically all tourists here. Don’t be so nervous.” Erin turned and left upon saying that.
Both the bodyguards were torn. They did not dare to press on and continue to follow her, but they felt worried about not doing so. As bodyguards, they did not dare to disobey the order that Chandler had given himself.
However, Erin had a very special status. It was not too much to even say that she was their boss.
Seeing that Erin had gone far, one of the bodyguards did not hesitate anymore, he immediately called Hans to ask for his instructions.
Hans was picking ingredients with the chef at that moment. Once he heard Erin had gone out alone and did not have any bodyguards with her, he immediately became nervous. Erin was pregnant. Even if somebody had accidentally bumped into her, Hans and the bodyguards would not be able to afford to bear the consequences!
“Hurry up and catch up to her secretly. Since she doesn’t want you guys to follow her, don’t get too close to her. But she has to be within. your sights!” Hans was a little blunt.
“Yes, sir!”
Both the bodyguards immediately went after Erin.
They kept threading their way through groups of tourists, following her.
About twenty minutes later, they saw Erin walking into a restaurant. Within a minute, they walked in as well.
After they got to the dining area, they saw some tourists having breakfast, but they did not see any sign of Erin after scanning the
surroundings.
At that moment, a server came up to them and asked in a foreign language if they needed a table. They told him they were looking for
somebody, so the server smiled and left.
Just as they wanted to head toward the ladies‘ room, they suddenly felt a burning and piercing pain in their stomachs. They subconsciously held their stomachs, but not long after, blood sprayed out of their mouths.
Both of them felt dizzy and weak in their limbs. The sudden occurrence frightened all of the customers in the restaurant. A few kind foreigners immediately got up from their seats and ran to check out the situation.
Somebody shouted, asking for the servers to call the emergency line.
In an instant, the restaurant was in chaos. As the scene made people feel uncomfortable, a few customers put money on the table straightaway and left.
At that moment, a man disguised as a woman pushed a wheelchair out of the ladies‘ room.
The woman in the wheelchair was wearing black sunglasses and a white sun hat, and she was hugging a doll. However, her posture looked a little weird, as if she were asleep.
The man who looked like a woman was Jack, and the woman in the wheelchair was Erin, who was already unconscious.
Just like that, Jack openly took Erin away by pushing her out of the restaurant in a wheelchair.
Everybody’s attention was on the unconscious bodyguards who vomited blood, so nobody had the time to care about the two of them.
Erin was taken all the way to a dock by Jack. A tourist submarine was docked there, and two locals wearing board shorts and sunglasses were standing on the dock.
Jack calmly pushed the wheelchair to them; and without saying a word, they each look one side to support Erin and carefully sent her into the submarine.
The submarine could accommodate 20 tourists. When the two locals walked out of the submarine, there was already a family of four on
the dock. The younger man told them that Jack had reserved the entire submarine, so they could only wait for the next trip. The family then went off to find another activity to join.
After Jack watched the four of them leave, he took out a candy box from the purse he was carrying and handed it to one of the men. 1
The man opened the box and saw a thick roll of cash in it. He then nodded at Jack and shook his hand.
Jack checked out the surroundings, then entered the submarine as well.
Not long after, the submarine left the dock and gradually submerged.
Two days later, Chandler rushed back to his country and came to Liberty General Hospital with an icy gaze.
The two bodyguards had already been transferred from the intensive care unit to a normal ward.
Chandler walked into the ward with Kyle and saw Alan and another doctor in there.
He had learned that the bodyguards had woken up, so he wanted to personally ask them a few questions.
Alan said to the doctor next to him, “I’ll update him. You may take your leave.”
The doctor nodded at Chandler respectfully and left the ward.
As soon as the door closed, Alan said, “You came just in time. The report just came out. I was about to call you.”
Chandler said with a cold expression, “Go on.”
“Both of them had ingested a micro time bomb developed with nanotechnology. Once it’s detonated in the body, the organs would be damaged to different extents, causing rapid and severe bleeding. If they did not receive medical assistance in time, their lives would have been in danger.”
Alan continued. “I’ve already asked the two of them. The conclusion I got was that the capsules containing stimulants that they were taking at that time were swapped. People who could get close to them should be one of your own. Hans has also confirmed that up to this. point, other than Jack and Erin, who went missing at the same time, everybody else is being suspended.”
Both the bodyguards looked pale as they lay on the bed. After they saw Chandler, they looked guilty.
“Mr. Frost, it’s our fault that Miss Lane went missing. We’re useless.”
The other person said with tears welling in his eyes, “Mr. Frost, let us participate in the search for Miss Lane”
Kyle said coldly, “Both of you should just recuperate now and not care about anything else. Also, you two have not been ruled out as suspects yet. While you’re hospitalized, both of you and the other 28 bodyguards have to go through a lie detector test.”
Both of them nodded and had no complaints at all.
Chandler asked, “Did Miss Lane display any unusual behavior on the day she left?”
One of them said, “At that time, she didn’t let us follow her, and she seemed to be meeting somebody. She was in a hurry when she left. and she did not look too happy. She didn’t even pay attention to the people around her for twenty minutes. The restaurant was clearly her destination. When we were about to look for her after we entered the restaurant, we started vomiting blood and fell unconscious.”
Chandler was still more or less a little disappointed after hearing their statements himself because there were not many clues.
He immediately turned and left the ward. Kyle left as well after talking to Alan briefly.
Within ten minutes, they arrived at the hospital’s parking lot and got into the car.
Kyle was the one who drove them away from the hospital.
Chandler sat at the back without saying anything the whole time. His expression was scarily calm.
Erin had been missing for two days without any news about whether she was still alive or not!
He was afraid that if he had not forced himself to keep calm, he would lose his mind.
It was very likely that Jack was the one who kidnapped Erin. He had been working for Chandler for two years, yet he was actually a criminal
with ill intentions!
Chandler’s deep gaze was filled with boundless worries. Ever since he learned that Erin had gone missing, he had not slept a wink for two days, and his eyes were bloodshot.
He was living in fear every moment. He regretted it very much. He should not have left Erin in Mufrana alone, much less let Jack be her bodyguard!
However, before Erin was found, he could not have a breakdown. He had to be extremely focused and participate in the search for Erin himself!
At that moment, Chandler’s phone rang and his heart skipped a beat.
He was hoping it was Jack calling to ask for the ransom, but he was also afraid that he would receive bad news about Erin.
The phone kept ringing. Chandler calmed himself down and took it out from his jacket pocket.
Seeing the person who called made him feel extremely torn.
It was Erin’s mother, Cherry.
She must have realized her daughter’s phone could not be reached, so she called him in the end.
Chandler unlocked the screen and answered the call. Cherry immediately asked, ‘Chandler, do you know why I can’t get through to Erin’s phone?”
