Chapter 134 Simon’s Psychological Barrier
His question made Erin’s heart sink, so she naturally didn’t voice her wild guesses. Instead, she calmly said, “I want to hear your explanation.”
Chandler chuckled lightly. “You’re more mature now compared to the past. I’m pleased.”
Hearing how composed he was. Erin was frustrated and silently cursed away in her heart. She held back the urge to yell at him to hurry up
and explain.
“Right; now let me explain what happened with this photo. Two days ago, Claire called me to a private club under the pretense of giving me a gift. By the time I arrived, she was already drunk. Her phone fell, so she asked me to pick it up. When I picked it up, I saw her skirt. I was stunned for a few seconds but immediately walked out of the room and got Kyle to go in. So, Kyle was the one who held her and put her in the car. He also drove her back. And that was what happened.”
Erin’s shattered heart was instantly mended. She still had some lingering suspicions. However, since Chandler had explained everything to her, even if she was a little mistrustful of what he’d said, she didn’t want to show it.
“Thanks for telling me.”
He sighed, “Silly girl, you’re my woman now. You have every right to ask me about something like this. If I found out you had any
inappropriate relationships with other men, I would question you too.”
Those words improved Erin’s mood quite a bit.
Chandler continued. “Now, it seems that Claire really set me up. She’d installed a camera in the private room in advance, just to sow discord between you and me. This photo serves as a reminder to me as well. This woman, Claire, is officially on my blacklist. I won’t bother
with her anymore.”
Of course, Erin was delighted about Chandler voluntarily distancing himself from a woman he used to like in the past. There was no point
forcing such matters. The best way was for the person in question to be more mindful and take the initiative to cut off contact.
Erin was deeply moved. “Chandler, I miss you-”
“Don’t worry, I’ll come to Fleuverton to satisfy your needs very soon. I have something to take care of now. Bye, Erin.”
Chandler ended the call first, leaving Erin holding her phone with her face all red. She simply expressed her longing for him, but he just had
to stir it toward those lewd matters.
“Men are perverts by nature!” Erin shouted internally.
After resolving the misunderstanding regarding the photo, Erin deleted the message from the stranger and blocked their number. Erin speculated that the photo was likely sent by Claire. Back when she was rumored to be involved with Matthew. Claire must have been furious, so that was why she used Chandler as a way of getting back at Erin.
Two hours later, Roman finished shooting his scenes. With that, Donny’s work for the day was done too. Ken trailed behind them, carrying their belongings.
After Roman finished removing his makeup and changing his clothes, he accompanied Erin back to the hotel.
In the car on the way back, Roman told Erin that Claire would still be part of the film, but as an additional character that was added last minute. The producer convinced the director to give her a role for the sake of the twenty million dollars. Claire would play the role of a rat demon who was kind of like a junior to the fox demon. Therefore, Claire and Megan would act together.
Twenty million dollars was good enough to help Claire secure a role that was way more substantial than a mere fourth female lead. She was effectively promoted to become the second female lead.
Erin asked Roman, “Wouldn’t the author have any objections to their original work being modified?”
Turning to look at her, Roman answered, “The author has already signed a contract that clearly states that the novel can be adapted. The character played by Claire is dispensable, so it doesn’t have much impact on the movie. Therefore, the director won’t demand strict adherence to the original work. Commercial films have a much higher tolerance than art films. The investment of twenty million will be used up fairly quickly for CGI effects.”
Since Erin was chosen because of her acting skills, she gained some confidence.
*Two days later, you’ll start shooting officially. You’ll have scenes with different actors. There are several veteran actors in the crew who are worth learning from,” Roman advised in his usual calm demeanor.
“Thank you for the reminder, Roman. Since the director has given me this opportunity, I’ll cherish it and work hard,” Erin replied earnestly.
“After you go back, you better rest early. Shooting is tiring, and every scene requires immense concentration.”
Erin nodded. “I’ll make sure to get sufficient sleep.”
Roman then continued. “In the future, you need to pay attention. If the actors you have scenes with don’t perform well, you’ll need to reshoot together. Likewise, if the problem lies with you, the other party will have to reshoot the scene with you. So, you have a
collaborative relationship with other actors. Try not to burden them. The director will also prefer to have each scene done in one take. Do
keep that in mind.”
“Okay! Understood.”
Despite feeling tired. Erin tried her best to stay attentive. Seeing that, Roman chuckled. “That’s all for today. I’ll gradually tell you more
things when you start shooting.”
“Thank you, Roman-” Erin covered her mouth and yawned.
In the middle of the night, Erin was sound asleep in her hotel room. Little did she know that twenty minutes later, a man would secretly sneak into her room.
In the hotel’s underground parking lot at that moment, a black jeep was parked in the far corner spot. In the jeep, two men were engaged
in conversation.
“Luther, are you sure this is the only way?” Simon asked skeptically. He was dressed in all black, looking like he was up to no good.
Luther Santiago, with his hair slicked back, had a smirk on his face as he replied, “We won’t know the result unless you go and kiss that woman again.”
Simon furrowed his brows and said coldly, “But I can’t go and do something as shady as this! You’re a psychiatrist, for Christ’s sake! Can’t you come up with some other way to test my condition besides this rotten idea?”
Luther responded in a deep voice impatiently, “Simon, man the fuck up and prove you’re a normal man to me. I’ve been treating you for three years now. If I can’t fix this psychological barrier of yours, I’ll end up having psychological problems myself-”
He then continued, “I’m just asking you to steal a kiss from her. You do that and then come back. I just need you to verify once again if she really makes you feel anything. I’m not asking you to assault a woman!” 1
Simon glanced at his psychiatrist friend with resentment. If it weren’t for Luther’s relatively solid medical reputation, he probably would have kicked him out of the car long ago!
Seeing that Simon was still hesitating and couldn’t make up his mind. Luther suddenly provoked him by saying, “Think about your ex- girlfriend, Megan. Look around at the entire entertainment industry. Natural beauties like her are hard to find! But even when she made advances at you three times, you felt nothing. Your psychological problem is serious! If you were line in that department, Megan wouldn’t have had to go and seek out someone like Percival-” 1
At the mention of Megan’s betrayal, a flame of fury lit up in Simon’s heart. He growled, “Say no more! I’ll get going now.”
Seeing that Simon finally decided to go ahead with their plan, Luther quickly grabbed his arm and said, “Don’t forget the flowers and the tools…”
Ten minutes later, wearing sunglasses and a mask, Simon hurriedly walked down a corridor, holding a large bunch of white roses. Not long after, he used a black magnetic card to open Erin’s room door.
He used the roses to block the card out of view as he gently slid open the security chain behind the door. After that, he cautiously looked around and then entered. At this hour, most of the hotel guests were already soundly asleep.
He wore stealth shoes that barely made a sound. Treading carefully on the carpet, he made his way toward the room. This was the first
time Simon had done anything illegal, but he was willing to risk it for the sake of his masculinity.
When he saw the graceful body of a woman lying in the bedroom, his heartbeat intensified. After his eyes adjusted to the dark, he carefully placed the roses and the card on the sofa and took out a small glass bottle from his pocket.
He remembered Luther’s words-“Take this and put it under her nose. It will keep her in a state of deep sleep with no side effects. Just use
it without worries.”
Simon slowly approached and placed the bottle near Erin’s nose. After a dozen seconds, he put the glass bottle away in his pocket again.
In order to get a clearer view of Erin’s face, he turned on the table lamp on the cabinet. Even though he turned the light down its dimmest, Erin’s exquisitely beautiful face came into view without fail. Simon’s fingers trembled slightly as they gently reached toward her cheek. When he felt the sensation from touching her smooth and tender skin on his fingertips, his body immediately tensed up.
This sudden change took Simon by surprise.
He stared at those enticing lips that were slightly upturned in a content and relaxed manner deeply. Nervously, he gulped while taking in those soft lips that glistened like jelly.
Simon did his best to restrain himself for about half a minute. Then, he couldn’t resist any longer and slowly leaned forward.
