Chapter 128 Set Things Straight
This was the first time Erin heard Chandler speak to her like she was an equal. Universally, people should treat each other with equality and respect. But in Chandler’s world, he was quite used to others lawning over and flattering him. The fact that he was willing to change for her, however slight, didn’t go unnoticed.
She looked deep into his eyes, and Chandler patiently awaited her response.
Finally, she decided to place the trust she held in her heart in the palm of his hand. “Chandler, I choose to believe in you.”
His black dark shimmered faintly, with a subtle glint of brightness shining from deep within. Her words gently reassured his unsettled and uneasy heart.
A hint of delight crept up to his eyes as he held her hand and kissed the back of it. “Thank you for trusting me.”
Erin smiled from the depths of her heart, and that smile captivated him. The next moment, Chandler stood up, walked to the desk, and picked up his wallet. Then, he returned to sit beside her, Erin curiously watched his actions and saw him lake out a piece of paper that was folded into a neat little square from his wallet.
After unfolding it, he presented the paper before her with a roguish smile. “Remember, from now on, I’m your new creditor.”
Erin looked at the promissory note she had written for Louis, which had somehow ended up in his hands. With her mouth agape, she asked in astonishment, “How did it end up with you?”
He lightly tapped her forehead and scolded her, “You little minx! Instead of borrowing money from your own man, you borrowed from someone you don’t even know all that well and is a total stranger. Can you afford to repay this much money?”
Chandler’s expression revealed that he wasn’t the most pleased, but the faint indulgence in his words made Erin feel a bit spoiled. She asked, “You helped me repay my debt to Louis?”
“Of course, do you expect me to wait around and let him find an excuse to pursue you?” Chandler gave her a look similar to how one would
look at a naïve teenage girl.
Helplessly, she argued, “I had no choice… My father’s company.
Chandler pinched her cheeks, adopting a parental tone while saying, “I already knew about your father’s situation. Actually, it was a trick played by my father to force you to accept his fifty million dollars. My old man loves to buy people’s loyalty with his wealth. You did well to
not be swayed by money.”
His heartfelt admiration shone through his eyes, and Erin’s eyes became slightly reddened. “Actually, if I were truly desperate, I might have
borrowed money without considering the consequences
Her candidness made him feel a pang of sympathy for her. He asked, “Do you know why I had you follow Roman?”
Erin looked at him in surprise. She never expected that Roman’s choice would be related to Chandler after all.
Seeing that she didn’t know, Chandler took the initiative to explain. “I wanted you to learn more about interpersonal skills by being around him. You immediately gave up on us upon meeting my father. You didn’t even give me a chance to explain before you decided to cut me
off. Do you know how mad I was at that time?”
Chandler slowly let out everything he’d pent up in his heart, and his sincerity touched Erin greatly. Her hardened heart instantly softened. and she immediately apologized, “I’m sorry… I was really upset after meeting your father.”
He took a deep breath. “It’s not entirely your fault.”
At that time, he didn’t intend to tell her the truth either. But as time passed, Chandler felt highly uneasy about leaving Erin with Roman. The growing unease that things were starting to slip out of his control got to the point that he couldn’t wait to fly to Fleuverton City to see her in person and set things straight with her.
He figured it all out. If he wanted to be with Erin, some things needed to be thoroughly clarified. Otherwise, he might miss the opportunity and could only blame himself for it when that happened.
Seeing how he was blaming himself, Erin couldn’t help but feel sorry for him. She reached out and took the initiative to hug him. In her rush to comfort him, she even forgot that she wasn’t wearing any clothes.
“Chandler, I want to tell you that there is nothing going on between Matthew, Roman, and me. If you hear any rumors in the future, please
choose to belleve me, okay?”
Her heart was filled with anxiety. Erin’s gaze locked onto Chandler’s black ones unblinkingly, waiting anxiously for his affirmation that he trusted her.
Her nervousness delighted him, and he pounced on her, pressing her down. “So, that’s why you so proactively embraced me out of your own volition-”
Erin looked frustrated. “Can you be serious? I’m asking you a serious question!”
Chandler held her face gently and spoke with certainty, “Silly woman, if I didn’t trust you, would I come to Fleuverton City to find you?”
Hearing him say he trusted her with his own ears, Erin’s heart overflowed with joy. She leaned forward and kissed his cheek.
His eyes darkened. “You think you can placate me with just one kiss?”
Half an hour later, Erin mewled pleadingly like a kitten, asking him to stop. He secretly scoffed at himself; he’d truly become addicted to her
At that moment, a shrill telephone ring interrupted them, and Erin finally looked at the small alarm clock on the cabinet with a shrivel of sobriety.
“Oh no! I’m going to be late!” She immediately struggled to get up.
Chandler’s face pulled down at that instant. “Don’t you dare leave, Erin!”
She stretched out her hands to keep him at a distance, looking helpless. “I still have work-”
He coldly challenged. “How could your assistant trainee job be busier than my job as the president?”
Erin pointed at the landline phone. “It must be Roman calling *
A flash of killing intent flashed across Chandler’s black eyes as he reached out and picked up the receiver. “Hello, speak up!”

On the other end of the phone, Roman stood in the living room of his hotel room. Last night, Erin had agreed to go with him to the set in the morning to watch him film his scenes. Then, she would handle her phone matters in the afternoon.
He just wanted to call and ask if she had woken up, only to be greeted by the voice of another man on the phone. This made him vaguely unhappy.
“Chandler, have you come to Fleuverton City?”
Chandler responded unabashedly. “Sorry, we’re busy. Erin is occupied for the morning!”
He mischievously placed the receiver aside deliberately. Then, he aggressively seized Erin and started another round of intimacy. Erin. couldn’t believe that Chandler could be so intense. In the heat of the moment, she involuntarily let out a sensual moan before she could
cover her mouth.
When Roman heard Erin’s seductive and enticing voice, he immediately understood what Chandler meant by being “occupied.”
Roman hung up the phone awkwardly with a displeased face.
He had a strange feeling in his heart. Chandler’s actions just now were clearly deliberate. What did it mean? Were they a proactive
declaration of his territory?
Chandler and Erin spent the entire morning in the hotel room, indulging in a seemingly never–ending bout of lovemaking. Every time she tried to get up, Chandler would pull her back.
Meanwhile, Roman, who had been filming at the film studio all morning, unexpectedly lost focus several times. His absentmindedness left the director and crew puzzled. He was known for being the “One Take Wonder,” yet his performance on that day left much to be desired.
Finally, Roman voluntarily requested a temporary break in order to get his act together. He went alone to the loft where Erin and Simon had been before.
Standing by the window, dressed in the attire of an ancient prince, Roman gazed absentmindedly at the calm surface of the lake. He held a cigarette between his fingers, which seemed somewhat out of place with the costume he was wearing. The reason for his unsuccessful

filming that morning was unexpectedly Erin.
Her sexy voice on the phone stirred up a primal urge that he didn’t think he had. This sensation was new and unfamiliar to the man who had only ever been interested in the art of acting. Just imagining that side of Erin made it impossible for him to calm down.
With his brows creasing up in deep worry, he couldn’t help but question whether it was a mistake to choose Erin as his assistant. He had given her the opportunity to get close to him, but on the flip side, he couldn’t truly get close to her.
She was Chandler’s woman, and she happened to like him back.
Roman took a deep drag and threw the unfinished cigarette into the lake. He had quit smoking for five years, but he didn’t expect that today he would start smoking again because of Erin.
