Chapter 126 Testing and Warning
Erin followed Megan’s gaze to the phone in her hand. There was a hint of helplessness in her eyes. If she’d known such a misunderstanding would arise, she would have firmly refused to take Simon’s personal phone.
Upon hearing Megan refer to Simon as her boyfriend, Erin surmised that Simon wouldn’t have broken up with her so soon.
Erin remained calm and composed as she said steadily, “I’m sorry, Miss Zeigler. I don’t know who your boyfriend is. The phone in my hand is temporarily borrowed from my friend because I lost mine.”
Megan was taken aback. She then realized that the matter between Simon and her being in a relationship hadn’t been made public on the set, so it was understandable that Erin was unaware.
With a cold expression, she asked, “Is your friend named Simon Frost?”
Pretending to be surprised, Erin replied, “Yes, how did you know?”
Roman had told her about the secret relationship between Megan and Simon, but she pretended not to know.
“Simon is my boyfriend!” Megan glanced at Erin’s phone surreptitiously several times, quietly suppressing herself from blowing up.
She couldn’t understand why Simon would entrust something as important as his personal phone to Erin. Even if they were friends, this went far beyond the boundaries of a normal friendship!
Megan felt extremely resentful at this moment. She didn’t expect that Simon would come to the set and not look for her. Instead, he went to find Erin, a mere assistant!

Erin smiled and replied, “You’re right. I’ll go buy myself a new phone tomorrow.”

Megan gave herself an excuse, and Erin didn’t intend to expose her. She answered. “We saw each other half an hour ago, but I don’t know

At that moment, Megan’s assistant, Liliana, pushed open the door with an excited expression and said, “Megan, I received news that Mr. Frost sent people to your hotel room three hours ago, and they brought a room full of roses! It looks like a marriage proposal!”

Erin, playing along with the flow, asked, “Miss Zeigler, are you okay?”
Liliana had already walked over to Megan’s side and helped her sit on the sofa.
Perhaps Megan was too overjoyed. Even her gaze hostile gaze toward Erin earlier had become much gentler, She chuckled and said, “I’m fine. I’m just a little overwhelmed by the sudden news of a marriage proposal.”
Megan couldn’t conceal the triumphant and proud look in her eyes. Just thinking that the marriage proposal she had been longing for would take place tonight made her want to scream her head off with excitement.

“Megan, you still have three scenes to shoot tonight, Liliana reminded her in a timely manner.
With a delighted expression on her face. Megan looked at her and sald. “Liliana, help me up. I’m going to talk to the director right now and see if we can change those three scenes to tomorrow night! No matter how important the filming is. It’s not as important as Simon’s proposal to me!”

As Erin watched the two of them walk to the door, Megan suddenly turned around and asked, “Miss Lane, why did you go to the west wing In the afternoon?”

She smiled faintly and said, “Miss Lane, based on my past experience, as long as you do your job well on set and avoid meddling in unnecessary matters, I believe Roman will keep you by his side.”
Erin expressed her gratitude. “Thank you for the reminder, Miss Zeigler.”
Before leaving, Megan gave Erin one last meaningful glance, while Erin waved her off with a naïve smile. She’d already guessed that Megan’s appearance meant that Percival had told Megan about seeing her in the west wing.
Now that Percival and Megan had become wary of her, she would need to be even more cautious and careful in her actions.
Thinking about Megan happily anticipating Simon’s proposal, Erin took out the ring box from her jean pocket. If it weren’t for the chiffon blouse covering the protruding box, Megan would have noticed it.
She stared at the ring box for a moment. She’d planned to call Simon and tell him about Megan’s situation, but then she thought better of it. It was better not to meddle in other people’s affairs.
Whether there was a proposal or not, it was a private matter between Simon and Megan.
Time passed quickly, and it was already 10 pm when Roman, Ken, and Erin returned to the hotel.
She didn’t tell Roman about what had happened in the afternoon, only that she accidentally lost her phone. She informed him that she would need a few hours off tomorrow to get a new phone.
Roman agreed. Initially, he wanted Ken to accompany her, but Erin declined, saying that she could handle such a small matter on her own. She didn’t want to trouble Ken too much. After all, Ken was Roman’s assistant, not hers.
Roman understood her concerns. If he always favored Erin, Ken would naturally feel dissatisfied that she was given preferential treatment. Moreover, with the rumors circulating within the crew these days, Roman decided to be more rational about things. He didn’t want the gossip and rumors to hurt Erin.
If he consistently gave Erin special treatment, others wouldn’t be able to see or acknowledge the efforts she made in her work. It would be unfair to her. Hence, Roman started to deliberately keep his distance from Erin.
After returning to the hotel room, Erin immediately used the room’s landline to call Cherry and Holly, informing them about her lost phone situation so that they wouldn’t have trouble finding her if they needed to.
She also called her father, Steven, to inform him of the matter.
Since Simon’s personal phone would need to be returned soon, she thought it was better not to tell anyone about it. Erin thought for a moment and realized she needed to tell one more person, and that was Louis, whom she’d just borrowed a huge sum of money from.
If she didn’t call him back, he might think she’d disappeared and wouldn’t repay him the money. She didn’t want to be seen as someone
with a bad or untrustworthy character.
But just as she was about to call him, Erin realized with distress that she didn’t have Louis‘ phone number. Apart from her remembering the numbers of her family members, her close friend Holly, and Chandler, she hadn’t bothered to remember anyone else’s number.
She blamed it on the modern human’s overt reliance on smartphones.
As soon as she thought of Chandler, sadness filled her heart. Her longing for him gushed out like the water from a faucet that had been turned on, with no way of turning it off.
As if in a trance, she removed the phone receiver from its holder. Looking at the numbers, a string of familiar numbers instantly appeared in her mind. Her fingers pressed the numbers almost subconsciously, one by one, until the call connected on the other end. She held her breath, afraid of making even the slightest sound.
After just a few seconds, Chandler’s deep and resonant voice came through the receiver. “Missed me?”
