I Refuse to Divorce! by Light Breeze Chapter 158

Chapter 158

Zoe stared back at him calmly.

After a while, Mason dialed her phone.

Zoe answered, hearing Mason’s icy tone. “Get out of the car.”

Zoe looked at him, speaking softly, “Mason, I told you we’re separated. I can be with whoever I want. I won’t deliberately distance myself from my friends just because of you. Besides, today is Mrs. Ruby’s birthday. I am just having dinner. There’s no reason for you to doubt me.”

“But you know that Cecil likes you.”

“Why does that matter? Doesn’t Lilith like you, too? Did you do anything about that?”

Zoe hung up the phone.

Through the car windshield, Mason saw the tears in her eyes. He assumed it was because Lilith was mentioned. It seemed like she still

cared.

On the other side, Cecil started the car, ready to accelerate and

collide.

The two cars grazed each other, making a harsh noise.

Mason had a bad temper. He had never backed down, especially when it came to someone like Cecil.

But Zoe was sitting in the car.

He was afraid she would get hurt.

The black Bentley reversed, and Mason retreated, allowing Zoe to

leave his side.

As the cars passed each other, Mason’s hand reached over the car window as if he wanted to grab her. In the end, he only grasped air.

“I love you…”

These three words echoed for a long time, but only Mason heard them.

Zoe leaned against the leather seat, staring blankly.

Her eyes were a bit moist.

When Cecil looked in the rearview mirror, he gave her an extra glance. before saying softly, “Do you want to give him another chance? Mason rarely cares about people.”

Cecil had known Mason for so long. He understood Mason’s

personality. In that situation just now, Mason surprisingly stepped back.

He claimed not to love her and said she was just not enough fun, but

what he demonstrated showcased love.

Cecil’s mother didn’t live with him. She resided alone in an old house, simple in decoration.

Zoe brought her a small gift. “Happy birthday, Mrs. Ruby.”

Ruby was very pleased. “I’m glad you came!”

She hadn’t seen Zoe in a long time, patting and touching her. “You’ve

grown so much. You really look like your mother.”

Zoe smiled lightly.

She joined Ruby in making wraps and cooking. During dinner, they watched the 8 o’clock TV drama together. It was actually Ruby’s wish. to meet Zoe today.

After dinner, Ruby went to wash the dishes, and Zoe walked to the terrace, gazing at the distant view of the night.

Perhaps it was some festival. The night sky erupted in a large fireworks display. Zoe stared at it, and then a faint smile appeared on her lips. She thought how wonderful it would be if there were fireworks every day. Her mother in heaven wouldn’t feel lonely anymore.

She looked cute when she smiled lightly, much like when she was in her twenties.

Downstairs, Mason stood silently, looking up at Zoe.

He saw Zoe smiling gently, and he actually couldn’t help but smile, too…

Then Cecil came out, handing a glow stick to Zoe.

The fireworks were colorful and dazzling.

As Zoe looked up at Cecil’s eyes, it seemed like they were filled with countless little stars.

Mason’s smile slowly faded…

When Zoe left, Cecil accompanied her downstairs.

The unit door had just opened when someone embraced Zoe. She lightly fell into a warm hug.

It was Mason.

In front of Cecil, Mason pulled Zoe into his arms. He even held the back of her head…

Zoe believed that if she dared to move, Mason would kiss her.

He was insane.

When she raised her eyes, Mason looked at her, his gaze telling her he had lost his mind.

His eyes were red.

He murmured, “Allowing me to be here is already the best gift for me.”

He forgot about dignity, forgetting Cecil was the person he least liked. He uncontrollably kissed Zoe’s lips once, the dry touch not particularly pleasant, but he almost trembled.
