Getting Married To The Ice-Cold Ceo By Yetta Ellen Chapter 10

Chapter 10

When Susan woke up the next day, it was still dark.

“Is it still early in the morning? Then I’ll sleep a little longer, she thought. Just as she was about to go back to sleep, Susan was alerted and suddenly

sat up.

In horror, she looked at the servant standing by the bed. “What are you doing here?” she asked.

Someone had been watching her when she was sleeping!

The servant hurriedly said, “Mr. Landor told me to wait here until you wake up.”

Susan was stunned for a moment before asking, “What time is it now?” The servant said, “It’s eleven in the morning. Mr. Landor wanted to wait for you to have breakfast with him, but you slept soundly, so Mr. Landor had his breakfast first and then went to the office.”

Susan didn’t know what to say.

It was already eleven o’clock!

She glanced at the curtains. These black curtains completely blocked the light, making her think it was still dark outside, so she kept sleeping.

On the first day after the wedding, she slept until lunchtime…

Susan suddenly had an urge to burst into tears with shame.

But she maintained a calm expression on her face.

“Oh, I overslept.” Susan coughed lightly. “Next time, just wake me up directly.”

“Yes,” the servant replied softly.

She moved forward to help Susan get dressed and wash up.

However, Susan hurriedly refused. She preferred to dress by herself.

Susan freshened up as quickly as she could.

When she went downstairs, she saw Penelope comforting a servant gently.

Seeing Susan come, Penelope immediately smiled at her and said, “Good morning, Susan. Ben has gone to the office again. He’s such a workaholic, not even willing to take a few days off after getting married. Don’t be mad

at him, okay?”

Susan walked over calmly and said with a smile, “Why would I be mad? Storm Group is a prominent company, and it’s only natural for Ben to be occupied. Aunt Penelope, I am grateful for Ben’s demanding job as it enables me to lead a prosperous life. To express dissatisfaction would be tantamount to ingratitude, wouldn’t it?”

Penelope’s eyelids twitched.

Though Susan was talking about her own opinions, Penelope was somewhat embarrassed by the word “ingratitude.”

In an instant, Penelope became wary of Susan.

She started to realize Susan wasn’t an easy–to–deal–with naive person. With these thoughts in mind, however, Penelope’s smile became even brighter. She said gently, “It’s best if you can think that way.”

Susan glanced at the servant who was still sobbing and changed the subject, asking, “What happened here?”

Penelope sighed, “Speaking of this, Susan, please persuade Ben. The rumors about him… have gotten to this point. If he doesn’t rein himself in, things will only get worse.”

Susan was confused. “What exactly happened?” she asked.

Penelope looked at the servant with sympathy, saying, “She is Tessa. Her mother is seriously ill, so she started working after graduating from high school. Just this morning, she accidentally spilled coffee on Ben’s coat. You know, a coat doesn’t matter to him at all since he has so many of them, but he actually fired her directly. It’s really too harsh. She’s such a pitiful girl. I’m not Ben’s biological mother, so he never listens to me. But you are his wife. Maybe he’ll listen to you.”

“Mrs. Landor, please help me.” Tessa cried to Susan. “If I am fired, I won’t have money to buy medicine for my mother, and she will die.” As Tessa cried, she was about to kneel down to Susan.

Susan quickly grabbed her and stopped her from kneeling.

Tessa didn’t expect that Susan, who appeared slim and weak, to be so

strong.

She failed to kneel down, so she could only look at Susan pitifully. “Mrs. Landor, please help me and my mother.”

Tessa cried sadly. Susan felt not pleasant about this.

She glanced at Penelope, who was still sighing, and suddenly asked, “You” said she’s just a high school graduate, so does she have any special skills?” Penelope froze for a moment, then answering. “No, but her mother is seriously ill. I thought she was pitiful…”

“Aunt Penelope.” Susan looked at her with a faint smile. “The Miller family can be considered small and insignificant compared to the Landor family, but we check their professional qualifications and special skills when we hire servants. How come such a prestigious household like yours doesn’t consider the servants‘ professionalism but instead only considers whether they are pitiful or not?”

Not expecting Susan to say something like that all of a sudden, both Penelope and Tessa were dumbfounded.

Tessa cried even harder. “Please don’t blame Mrs. Penelope Landor. She is just kind–hearted and took me in because she felt sorry for me.”

Susan looked at her without being moved. “There are many unfortunate people in the world. The way the Landor family helps them is by establishing various assistance funds and letting professionals help them. We don’t bring them into our home to cause trouble. Isn’t that right, Aunt Penelope?”

Susan’s words were a bit harsh.

Penelope struggled to maintain her composure and said slowly, “I… I didn’t think about it that much at the time.”

This time, it was Susan who sighed.

“Aunt Penelope, Ben trusts you and has entrusted the management of the Landor family to you. Don’t let him down.”

Penelope remained silent.

Susan then looked at Tessa again and asked, “How much is the coat that was stained with coffee this morning worth?”

This was different from what Tessa had imagined, so Tessa glanced at Penelope in a panic.

Penelope forced a smile. “Ben’s clothes are all custom–made, and that coat must cost hundreds of thousands of dollars.”

“Hundreds of thousands of dollars?” Susan glanced at Tessa. “A stain can completely ruin this kind of clothes, so when are you going to compensate for it?”

“Compensate… compensate?” Tessa panicked immediately and once again

She looked at Penelope.

Penelope kept silent with a gloomy expression.

Trasa burst into tears. “Mrs. Landor, how can I attord such a big sum of

Susan coldly watched her without showing any sympathy.

After crying for a while, Tessa realized that something was wrong and stopped sobbing.

At this time. Susan calmly handed her a handkerchief.

Tessa hesitated but still took the handkerchief. Then she cautiously glanced at Susan. “Mrs. Landor…”

Susan softened her tone. “You are supposed to compensate it after damaging such an expensive coat, but did Ben ask you to pay for it?”

Tessa was stunned for a moment and shook her head.

“He didn’t, and he just fired you. According to the rules of the Landor family, those who get fired receive an additional three months‘ salary. With that money, you can support yourself till you find another job,” Susan said softly. “Do you really think he’s cruel in doing so?”

Susan was not one to exhibit unwavering kindness devoid of principles. She felt the way Ben dealt with this was absolutely right.

After Susan pointed out this, Tessa’s lips trembled and she gradually felt at little guilty.

Indeed. Ben only fired her, which was already lenient.

He was so forgiving, but Tessa even deliberately cried in front of Susan with Penelope’s instruction. Thinking of this, Tessa felt ashamed. She kept her head down and stopped talking.

Susan patted her on the shoulder, saying, “Tessa, this job as a servant is not that simple. If you truly like the Landor family, consider learning the necessary skills for this position. Who knows, perhaps one day you can

return.”

“I understand, Tessa wiped her tears and said softly. She had obviously calmed down.

“Go and get your salary, Susan said softly. “If you have trouble with supporting your mother, you can apply for assistance from the Landor family’s relief organization. If the situation is verified, they will provide financial aid.”

Tessa’s eyes lit up. She thanked Susan profusely before leaving.

Penelope, who had witnessed the entire process, thought to herself, “Is this Susan a monster? I hoped to exploit Tessa in a big way, but Susan

resolved the issue with just a few words!”
