Chapter 8 You’ve Never Been a Dutiful Husband
“Stacey, are you OK?” Louise was startled, but she wanted to laugh at the same time.
Seeing that, Gavin strode forward, leaned over, and wanted to pull Stacey up, but she wouldn’t move.
“Gavin… It hurts… Hold me…” Stacey’s knees were numb, and she was crying while saying in a loud voice.
Valarie folded her arms and looked coldly at the woman on the floor.
She thought, “What a phony you are, Stacey. You act to be so delicate when seeing Gavin.“.
“Gavin… Ms. White pushed me!”
Stacey leaned against Gavin’s arms timidly, looking at Valarie viciously.
“What did you say, Stacey?” Gavin was stunned.
“Are you sure I pushed you?” Valarie wasn’t angry. Instead, she smiled and watched Stacey putting on an act.
“Could it have been me who fell to the ground voluntarily?” Stacey’s normally delicate voice rose in anger.
“Maybe. After all, you look as ill as if you are dying. Perhaps a gust of wind blew you to the ground.”
“How … dare you curse me!”

caine over. Be brave and admit it instead of being like a coward!”
“It’s a law–based society. There are cameras everywhere, Ms. Hull. You shouldn’t slander others as you please.”
Suddenly, Valarie’s crystal–clear eyes darkened, and her aura was domineering. “Once I have proof, I can sue you for defamation.”
Gavin’s pupils shrank. He thought, “Megan is a different person now.
“She is no longer that lonely, humble wife of mine who stayed in the room alone all night.”
Stacey, clearly overwhelmed by Valarie’s dominance, winked at Louise for help.
“It was just a misunderstanding.”
Louise secretly glanced at the cameras above their heads and smiled to brush things off, “Perhaps you lost your balance, accidentally fell, and bumped into Megan, so you think she pushed you. It was all a misunderstanding.”
“Stacey, really? You lost your balance?” Gavin looked down at the woman in his arms, his voice slightly cold.
“I… thought she pushed me…”
Gavin’s eyes darkened.
Stacey panicked deep down and simply argued, “If she hadn’t dodged, I wouldn’t have fallen. She dodged on purpose! My bracelet is broken. My grandmother gave it to me! It is a family heirloom. It wouldn’t have been broken if it weren’t for her!
“Ms. White, I know you’re upset about your divorce with Gavin, but you shouldn’t be taking it out on me like this. Is it my fault that you
sband
were separated?”
Then Stacey cried again.
It seemed that she had endless tears.
“First of all, I’m not upset. Instead, I have to thank you for helping me out of misery, so that I don’t have to be a bitter woman who spends every day waiting from dark to dawn,” Valarie raised her chin slightly and mocked.
From dark to dawn?
Gavin’s handsome face froze.
“Secondly, if the bracelet really is in your family, you have me to thank today.”
Valarie walked over, picked up half the bracelet, and held it against the light. “Fake.”
“What?” Both Stacey and Louise were shocked.
“It’s made of glue, and wearing it for a long time is not good for the body, because toxic substances will penetrate the fabric and affect the blood system.”
Valarie raised her hand, tossing the half bracelet into the trash can. The pearl bracelet from Leonard on her wrist was the biggest mockery for Stacey
“Mr. Sheppard, Ms. Hull places herself in your hand. At least you should buy her a few pieces of fine jewelry.”
“Megan.” Gavin frowned unhappily
“I have a piece of jewelry on the dresser at the Sheppard’s place. If you
don’t mind it, you can take it.” Valarie patted the dust that didn’t exist on her hand as if touching the bracelet had dirtied her hand.
Stacey was furious.
She thought, “Megan, you bitch! You’re belittling me!”
She wanted to talk back, while Valarie had already gone.
Valarie went out of the hospital.
At the thought of how furious and upset Stacey was, she couldn’t help but burst into laughter.
“Megan.”
Hearing Gavin’s magnetic voice, she looked back nonchalantly
The breeze blew and lifted a few strands of her hair in the wind, adding a touch of pure beauty to her
Gavin narrowed his eyes and walked toward her
“What is it, Mr. Sheppard?”
Valarie’s expression was cold without any emotions. “If Ms. Hull is still distressed about her bracelet, tell her that I will send her a car of bracelets from the antique market wholesale tomorrow.”
“Back then in the ward, you said to Grandpa…”
“That? Don’t think too much about it. I just didn’t want to anger Grandpa.” Valarie’s eyes softened when Leonard was mentioned
“We are even now.”
Valane was confused. “What”
“Considering the fact that you forged your identity to marry me befund everyone’s back, we are even now I won’t tell Grandpa or anyone else in the Sheppard family” Gavin had a gloomy look on his lace, has starry eyes sharp
Valarte widened her eyes hard and thought, “What the heck? Is he for real
“Yet you must tell me why you married me under a false identity. No, wait. I should ask in this way
Gavin approached her slowly “What was your purpose in using you false identity to get to Grandpa
Valarie’s heart skipped a beat, and she took a few steps back secreth
She forgot that behind her were the steps. She landed on nothing, and she leaned backward, exclaiming
And the next second, she felt her waist warm Gavin put hus armes around her slender waist firmly
Their eyes met. Valarie blushed, and Gavin’s breathing was chaotic
Even till this point, she still felt that Gavin’s face was stunningly pretty. He was her type
Thirteen years ago, Valarie was only eleven. In the terrible darkness and rain, she remembered Gavin’s brilliant eves
Gavin saved her life Valane wouldn’t have been alive today if it weren’t for hum
Yet he hurt her so deeply that she once wished she were dead
Gavin raised his arm and held Valarie up.
Thanks”
“Answer me.” Gavin wouldn’t let go
Tm not your wife anymore, and I have the right not to tell you”
Valarie smiled coldly and turned around, “Since you have said that we are even now, why not let me go? So what if I’m with a fake identity? I have never done anything to hurt you during those three years, have 1?*
Suddenly, Gavin took her by the arm and said in an extremely deep voice. “We haven’t got our marriage licenses yet, so you’re still technically my wife. You have an obligation to let me know who you are!”
Valarie breathed fast, and her eyes turned red. “Obligation? Mr.
Sheppard, don’t you think you are so ridiculous? During those three years, you’ve never been a dutiful husband. Who are you to ask me to be your dutiful wife?”
“Megan, don’t think I can’t do anything to you, just because you choose to remain silent!” Gavin yanked her into his arms, and they could hear each other gasping
He didn’t get angry easily, but since Valarie had left him, he had changed completely.
He thought, “Good for you, Megan!”
“Then look into it if that’s what you want. Don’t ask me ”
Valante broke free from his grip and walked away without looking back

Gavin looked at her cool and graceful figure and remembered her fiery rosy lips as well as her black high heels, which were sharp as murder weapons. Somehow, he felt frustrated.
He thought, “Why is she with such a style now?
“Is she pandering to Jason’s taste?
“She is so scheming and fickle. What does Grandpa see in her?”
“Mr. Sheppard, Ms. Hull said she sprained her ankle and cried for you to come and see her.” Derek gasped while catching up.
Suddenly, the roar of a sports car engine rang through the air.
“It’s Mrs. Sheppard!“,
Gavin was startled to see Valarie, his ex–wife, driving a sports car while wearing black sunglasses that covered half of her face and going past him at a great speed.
She drove a limited–edition supercar a Sound of the Night from Bugatti.
“Turns out Mrs. Sheppard is a rich woman in disguise! Fuck me!” Derek was slack–jawed.
Gavin’s eyes darkened, and he slowly clenched his hands hanging at both sides of his body.
“Go after her.”
