Chapter 7 The Pearl Bracelet Is for My Granddaughter–in-
Law
Leonard was in the ward.
He looked sick at first. Yet at the sight of Valarie, he was instantly much better, and his eyes lit up.
“Megan! Come here! Come to me!”
Valarie instantly changed into someone else and sat next to him obediently.
“How are you feeling, Grandpa? Are you still feeling unwell?”
“I get perfectly fine whenever I see you.”
Leonard grabbed her hand and asked anxiously, “The brat said that you were divorced. Is it true?”
“Yes, Grandpa. We are divorced.” Valarie’s eyelashes trembled, and she felt upset.
“You blind, stupid brat! How come you don’t want such a perfect wife? What the heck do you want?” Leonard propped himself up with difficulty and scolded Gavin angrily, his eyes popping.
Gavin was worried about Leonard’s health and didn’t dare to say a word to provoke Leonard.
“Don’t be mad at Gavin, Grandpa. I was the one who wanted to end the marriage. Gavin and I … kind of hit it off,” Valarie comforted Leonard softly, patting him on the back.

Gavin’s pupils shrank.
He thought, “I’m surprised that she didn’t complain and tell on me in front of Grandpa. I thought she was going to use Grandpa to get back
at me.
“Is she trying to change my mind in such an unconventional way and save our marriage that has come to an end?
“Megan, what makes you this confident that I’m gonna be attracted to you?”
“Megan, were you treated unfairly at our place? Was Louise mean to you?” Leonard asked, feeling sorry for Valarie.
“No, Grandpa. Gavin and I had differences. We couldn’t get into each other’s hearts, so being apart was the best thing for both of us.”
A trace of subtle sadness flashed across Valarie’s eyes. “Don’t blame Gavin. We’ve left fond memories of each other in these three years, and that’s all that matters. Neither I nor he regrets it.”
Gavin frowned slightly, feeling complicated.
As far as he could remember, he didn’t have any fond memories with Megan. He never even gave her a formal wedding.
Under Leonard’s pressure, they hurriedly obtained their marriage licenses, and then she arrived at the Sheppard’s place with a simple luggage and became his nominal wife.
He thought, “Does she really think those memories are great? She is being sarcastic, isn’t she?”
“Megan, was I… wrong?”
Leonard’s eyes turned watery, and he sighed with self–blame, “I

genuinely wanted you to be happy, which was why I insisted on you being together. I had no idea that the brat would embarrass me so utterly. At the end of the day, I should be blamed,”
“Don’t say that, Grandpa. It’s nothing but fate. I’ve let go already, and I mean it.”
She had already let go of her thirteen years of obsession and love. No one knew how desperate she had been.
Yet now, Gavin was so ruthless. If she kept pestering him, she would even lose her dignity. She didn’t want to turn into a hateful bitch just to get a little love from a man.
“Oliver, bring me the birthday gift I have prepared for Megan, my granddaughter–in–law!”
Oliver put on white gloves at once and picked up a fine red velvet jewelry box.
He opened the box, and everyone could see an impeccable green pearl bracelet that reached collection level.
Valarie was an connoisseur. She saw at a glance that the bracelet was an aged item, which was at least a hundred years old.
“Grandpa, isn’t this Grandma’s…” Gavin was stunned.
“Yes. It is a token of my love, and I gave it to your grandma back then. It is our family’s ancestral treasure, handed down from your great- grandfather.”

Leonard took the bracelet and looked at it under the sun, his becoming tender. “Your grandma told me before she passed away that her favorite jewelry was this pearl bracelet. She wanted me to give it to the granddaughter–in–law that I was satisfied with someday.
“Now that your grandma is gone. I’m going to give it to Megan, my favorite girl Only she deserves something so good.”
“No, Grandpa. This is so precious Besides, I’m no longer. Valarie turned him down, flustered
“Even though you and Gavin are no longer together, you are still the only granddaughter–in–law I recognize!”
Seeing that she didn’t want to accept it, Leonard acted willfully at once “If you don’t want it, I’ll smash it!”
“Wait!” Valarie hurriedly grabbed his hand, frightened, “I’ll accept it, OK? Thanks, Grandpa.”
“Good girl.” Leonard gladly put the bracelet on her wrist.
Valarie had fair skin, and her hand looked even more delicate and fair thanks to the bracelet
Gavin had never observed her hand so carefully. Now that he took a closer look, he found it fair and tender, not being overshadowed by the bracelet at all.
“Brat! What did you give Megan for her birthday?” Leonard asked, sounding unhappy.
“Grandpa, Gavin… has already sent me a gift. It’s a gift that I will never forget.”
Gavin clenched his fists, his thin lips turning pale as he pursed them hard.
He did give her a “great gift” on her birthday. He sent her a copy of the divorce papers.
He thought, “Megan can indeed hit the nail on the head!”
“Megan, is there really no turning back… for you and Gavin?” Leonard didn’t want to give up.
“Grandpa.” Valarie held Leonard’s aged hand gently. “If you really dote on me, you should support me and let me live the life I want. Right?”
He sighed, “Now that things have come to this, I can’t change your mind. I only hope that you’ll stick around till my 80th birthday. OK? There aren’t many days left before that anyway,” Leonard said unwillingly, trying to get Valarie to stay.
“Grandpa, that won’t be appropriate,” Gavin frowned and said in a deep, firm voice.
“How so? Do you want to take that woman from the Hull family to celebrate my birthday? Do you want to force me to acknowledge her? She and Louise want to have the men from the Sheppard family in their hands and do whatever they want? They should stop dreaming!”
Leonard slapped the bed angrily. “If you still think of me as your grandpa and want me to live a few more years, then stay away from that woman! Let me tell you something. I’d rather die than have her in our family!”

Outside the door, Stacey paced back and forth anxiously, clenching her teeth and stomping her foot.
“Stop. You’re making me dizzy.”
Louise rubbed her temples and shook her head. “You are so impatient. You’ve always known how Leonard feels about you. He’s a dying man. How long do you think he can keep Gavin at bay? You just have to cling on to Gavin’s heart, which is enough.”

“Regardless, he will never acknowledge me while he is alive. And I can never marry Gavin!” After saying that, Stacey hurriedly covered her mouth and looked around nervously.
“Back then, Leonard refused to accept me firmly. So what? I married Samuel anyway.”
Louise raised her fingers which were newly manicured, admiring them. “People can be swayed. After all, Gavin is his grandson. As long as Gavin wants you, of course, Leonard will give in sooner or later.”
Stacey agreed and calmed down a lot!
Finally, the ward door was open.
Oliver sent Gavin and Valarie off.
Stacey put away the shrewdness on her face and stepped forward, looking delicate.
Suddenly, her pupils shrank violently.
The pearl bracelet on Valarie’s wrist was so beautiful and eye–catching. It was so much better than the so–called heirloom on Stacey’s wrist.
Valarie went into the ward with nothing on her wrist, and now, she was wearing the pearl bracelet. Of course, it was sent by Leonard.
Stacey was so jealous. Suddenly, she had a vicious idea. When she came up to them, she suddenly pounced at Valarie.
Stacey screamed.
She wanted to pretend that she had lost her balance so that she could fall on Valarie. In such a way, she got to pull the bracelet off Valarie’s wrist and smash it.
