Chapter 5 Fundamental Problem of a Failed Relationship
Outside the villa.
Gladys hurried out of the villa complex. The night wind was chilly, and she took a deep breath.
Though Gladys had never wanted to be with Zachary, the way he wronged and threatened her made her angry.
That man was so narcissistic. If he were a detective, he’d wrong countless innocent people.
“Gladys! It’s you!” a familiar voice suddenly came into Gladys’s ears.
Gladys looked up and saw Julie walking out from behind the fountain.
Julie had always appeared to be an elegant and proud lady, but now her face contorted with shock.
Gladys was staggered to see her sister,
“Julie, why are you here?” Wasn’t she supposed to be on her way to buy wine? The supermarket wasn’t in this direction.
Just as Gladys was puzzled, a smack landed on her face.
Caught off guard, Gladys fell to the ground. A clear palm print appeared on her fair cheek.
Julie stared at her angrily.
“I’m

sister! How could you do this to me? Did you forget what you promised me a few years ago? How could you seduce Zachary?
“What did you two do in the room just now? Are you trying to tell him the secret and ruin my happiness? You want to replace me and marry him, don’t you? How could you be so wicked? How could you do this to me? I’m your sister!”
Julie was agitated, and her words were harsh.

Gladys’s cheek and elbow were burning with pain, and she felt dizzy. She crawled up from the ground, feeling aggrieved and angry.
“Julie, I came here to deliver takeout. I didn’t know the customer was Zachary. He mistook me for you, but nothing happened between us. I only hid because I was afraid you’d misunderstand me.
“If I had improper thoughts about him, why would I hide for three years?”
Julie was at a loss for words.
Indeed, in the past three years, Julie had worried about what Gladys might do, but
Gladys had never appeared in her life once. This time must have been at
coincidence.
Gladys continued, “I hid for three years for you. How could you slap me just because of him? You’re a sister to me, but what am I to you?”
To Julie, Gladys was a thorn in her flesh.
But she wouldn’t admit it, of course.
Faking a smile, Julie said, “Gladys, you’re a sister to me too. I’m sorry for doubting you just now. It’s just that your appearance could easily arouse Zachary’s suspicion. It could lead to irreversible consequences. I assume you don’t want to be condemned by everyone and ruin my happiness.
“So, could you stay out of town during the three months that Zachary is in Salvon City for business?”
For fear that Gladys would refuse, Julie added, “For the sake that I’ve been paying the medical expenses for your grandmother over these years.”
In the end, Julie just cared about that man too much.
Gladys smiled, “My grandmother is in the hospital, and I’ve lived here for 22 years. I won’t leave. But don’t worry, I will stay out of that blind man’s sight. Nothing will happen between him and me.”
Gladys was happy to stay single. If she wanted to date someone, she’d pick at considerate and gentle guy.
Zachary was arrogant and insensitive, not her type at all.

“Also, Julie, the fundamental problem of a failed relationship doesn’t lie in the poachers but in the two people in the relationship. Whether I leave or not has no direct impact on your happiness.”
After saying that, Gladys walked away.
Julie stood rooted to the spot, her face pale with anger.
She couldn’t accept Gladys speaking to her in that tone!
The thought that Zachary had covered up for Gladys tonight infuriated Julie.
It seemed like Gladys was a threat she must eliminate.
Julie took out her phone and called Tracy Ferber, Gladys’s adoptive mother.
“Can I speak to Tracy Ferber?
“I’m Gladys’s sister. I heard that you’ve been tight on money lately. Do something for me, and I’ll give you 16 thousand dollars.
“It’s just a small favor. Gladys has reached the age to get married. Colin Marsh. from your town seems like a nice guy. Do you know what I mean?”
