Chapter 3 She Is About to Be Caught
Just as Gladys was at a loss and confused, the doorbell rang suddenly.
A gentle female voice sounded from the outside, “Zachary, I have things in my hands. Open the door for me.”
That voice belonged to Julie.
Gladys tensed up, her heart almost jumping out of her throat. The nervousness somehow gave her the strength to push Zachary away.
Her sister was here.
What should she do?
Fear flooded Gladys.
Zachary also heard the voice from the outside. He looked at the pale–faced woman before him, frowned, and clicked on the doorbell video, only to find an identical woman standing outside. He was shocked and confused.
What was going on?
How come there would be another Julie outside when he was holding one in his
arms?
The atmosphere became tense.
Gladys was so anxious that she couldn’t care less about what Zachary was thinking.
Julie had ordered her to stay away from Zachary. If Julie came in to see her flushed. lips and messy clothes, what would Julie think?
Gladys pleaded in panic, “Sir, help me.”
Zachary finally figured out one thing.
This woman was not Julie.
He demanded, his face stern, “Who are you?”
Gladys clenched her hands.
Gladys was tempted to tell Zachary that she was Julie’s sister, but she was worried that it would give away her secret.
The doorbell rang again before Gladys decided how to answer his question.
Julie urged from the outside, “Zachary, are you there?”
Zachary studied her panicked look and pondered.
After a moment, to avoid unnecessary trouble, he decided, “Go inside. Don’t come out without my order.“”
His cold voice was a stark contrast to his previous passion.
“Yes.” With a nod, Gladys hurried into the living room and hid behind the curtains.
She was faster than a rabbit.
After making sure she was hidden, Zachary withdrew his gaze and opened the
door.
Julie had been standing outside holding a bunch of groceries. At the sight of Zachary, she immediately gave a smile.
“Zachary, what took you so long? I was starting to think you were away.”
Her voice was gentle, making her sound like a sweet wife.
Zachary looked at the face identical to the one from a moment ago and had a lot of questions in his mind, but he didn’t show any of that on his face.
“Don’t you need to work? Why did you come here?” asked Zachary in a detached
voice.
Julie’s face darkened.
Julie and Zachary were supposed to get married three years ago, but his grandfather’s sudden departure from the world interrupted their plan. Zachary had been indifferent to her ever since, never mentioning getting married again. Julie had herself transferred here to spend more time with him, but he didn’t seem as excited as she’d expected.

She replied, still smiling, “I was worried about you. You always have difficulty
adapting to the food and climate whenever you get to a new place, so I made some time to come over and cook for you.””
Zachary showed her the takeout.
“You can save the trouble in the future. There’s a store selling takeout that Mars and I like.”
His tone was cold and condescending, not gentle at all.
Behind the curtains, Gladys heard every word he said.
She secretly criticized Zachary for not being grateful to Julie, who had offered to cook for him.
Julie was surprised that Zachary would reject her, so she gave a bitter smile.
Just as Julie was about to say something, she suddenly noticed a strand of woman’s hair on his white shirt.
“Zachary, how did a woman’s hair end up on your clothes?” Julie asked in suspicion.
It was Gladys’s.
It must have happened during the struggle a moment ago.
Gladys panicked. If her sister found out she was here and hiding, it would be impossible to explain.
Nervous, Gladys held her breath.
Zachary was a lot calmer than her.
He glanced at the hair and replied, looking unfazed, “It’s from the woman who delivered the food.”
His tone was as indifferent as always, showing no sign of lying.
But Julie was not convinced. Why would a woman delivering food come into the house? How did the woman’s hair get to his chest? Why did it take him so long to open the door just now? All the doubts led to one probability: someone had been here to seduce him.

Despite her suspicion, Julie maintained her elegance on the surface.
“I see. Zachary, go ahead and eat. I’ll tidy up the room for you.”
Without giving Zachary a chance to refuse, Julie put down the groceries and started organizing.
First, she opened the cabinet to clean it. Then, she went to the couch and bent down to tidy up the cushions, her eyes glancing down.
Her actions looked more like searching for something rather than organizing the
house.
Behind the curtains, Gladys watched every move of her sister and held her breath.
Apparently, Julie had suspected something.
The living room was not big, so Julie would find her soon.
Sure enough, in less than two minutes, Julie turned her gaze to the curtains blocking Gladys.
She approached in steady steps.
Gladys clenched her hands and felt fine sweat forming on her palms..
She was about to be caught.
Gladys felt like the end of the world was coming.
