Chapter 8
Evelyn hated to be deceived. In this case, Eric was the worst man in her heart now.
After getting out of the hotel, she didn’t go home but drove away from Lavine City.
Three o’clock in the morning, she arrived in a small town.
It was a beautiful place with kind people.
She chose a hotel to live in but didn’t tell anyone about her whereabouts.
The next morning, she got up late since she was tired from the long-time’ driving.
She ate something around the hotel first, then she went to buy some flowers and a bottle of wine. After that, she drove towards the mountain in a distance.
“Dad, Mom, I’m coming.” Evelyn put the flowers beside the gravestone.
Then she cleaned the gravestone and removed the weeds.
“Do you know that? I have retired from the army and I got married.” Evelyn said as she poured the wine in front of the grave.
“But it isn’t Caden since he had a better choice, but I left the army because of him. I’m so stu pid, right?” Evelyn’s eyes turned red when she
said this.
She couldn’t get through this.
“Remember it, my husband is called Eric Jackson. He isn’t a good man. In fact, he has quite a bad reputation. But you can rest assured. I can take care of myself, Anyway, grandma and grandpa are still with me.
“They are in good health, so you don’t have to worry about them. I will look after them.”
Evelyn bit her teeth after saying that. She was sad since she felt that it was her parents’ duty but now, she had to do it.
“Dad, Mom, can I have a happy life? I got married so impulsively to a man I’m not familiar with anymore.
“But I will try. Try to build a happy family with her. He was nothing to others but now, he’s my husband.”

Evelyn said a lot of things in front of the grave, nothing important. Just some trivial matters.
Her phone kept ringing, but she seemed to hear nothing. She just sat beside the gravestone and looked up at the clouds in the sky.
She didn’t care how anxious the one calling her was at all.
When she was about to leave, she finally took her phone out and had a look. Then she put away her phone as if nothing had happened.
She didn’t intend to call him back at all.
Maybe what Eric did last night irritated her so she didn’t want to talk to him.
She went back to Lavine City at night and Eric also stopped calling her. But Evelyn didn’t care about this. She had a shower, ordered some food, and began to enjoy the food with beer.
Her husband whom she married yesterday? Who cared about him?
Eric had no idea how his wife disdained him.
He was still having a good time with his friends and some beauties.
“Mr. Jackson, why don’t you come to have some fun with us?” On a yacht, Eric was surrounded by several beauties, and they were talking to him in a sweet voice.
“No, you just go do whatever you want. My wife will be angry if I’m too close to other women.” Then he titled his head to show his refusal.
“Liar! When did you get married? We don’t know about it at all.” The beauties reached out their hands and wanted to touch him.
But Eric stopped them. “Stop! I’m hen-pecked, so don’t mess up with me. My wife is quite aggressive. Be careful, she might beat you.”
“No way! You are Mr. Jackson! You should be unruly and wild! Why did you fall for a woman?”
“Yes, you must be lying. The world is small and there are many words about you. You were just dumped by Kassidy. How can you get married so quickly?”
“Mr. Jackson, are you trying to ignore us? You don’t care about our feelings at all.” One of the beauties wanted to stimulate Eric with her words.
But she failed because Eric wasn’t moved at all. He just stared at his phone screen.

Why didn’t she accept his friend request?
She even didn’t answer his call. Was it possible that anything happened?
When thinking of this, Eric suddenly stood up.
Then he shouted in a loud voice, “Go back! Quickly!”
“Why? No more fun time?” Winston didn’t know why. They just came out. Why should they go back so quickly?
“Da mn fun time. Ernest, hurriedly. Let’s go back.” Erick hurried to the cockpit and shouted at the man inside.
“You did lie to me! You promised to let me try your yacht. Come to drive it yourself. I quit.” Ernest was angry. Eric promised to let him drive the yacht but the fun ended so soon.
Eric entered the cockpit and pulled Ernest to the side.
“Are you crazy? How do you change so fast?” Ernest was confused and irritated by what Eric did. He left his work behind to have fun at the sea with Eric, but Eric didn’t seem to appreciate it at all.
“I can’t contact my wife, so I’m worried,” Eric said as he changed the direction.
“Evelyn? Wasn’t she fine last night?” Winston heard Eric’s words after coming in. And he asked with confusion.
“Yes, you are right. But she just didn’t answer my call today.” Eric frowned tightly.
Ernest shook his head. “In my opinion, you deserve that because you played dumb last night.”
“Yes, bad acting skills. We couldn’t bear to watch you like that so we found a chance to escape.”
Eric turned his head to look at them. “So obvious?”
“Yes. You almost said you were pretending to be drunk directly.” Ernest rolled his eyes again.
“Okay, what do you think? Is she angry about this?” Eric finally realized the situation and connected the two things together.
“Definitely! But do you fall in love with her? Or why do you care about her so much?” Ernest tried Eric.
Didn’t Eric say that no woman in the world deserved his true love?
Was he acting or was he serious?

“Guess?” Eric didn’t directly answer the question.
“I think you are teasing her. Poor Evelyn. She has no idea what she will suffer in the future.” Ernest sighed while shaking his head.
“No way, that’s his wife.” Winston wasn’t sure if he was right when saying this.
Maybe Eric was teasing Evelyn.
“Is there any bed available in your hospital?” Eric suddenly asked.
“What do you mean? Who needs a bed in my hospital?” Winston asked with confusion.
“Me,” Eric replied calmly.
Winston and Ernest were confused.
“Why?”
“Evelyn seems to be strong. She carried me into the car yesterday.” That was not what a normal girl could do.
Winston and Ernest shook their heads at the same time. “Then you are over. Please don’t drag us with you, okay?”
Then they stepped backward together.
