Chapter 21 Only You Deserve My Heart  Isidro couldn’t see what was going on with Judson. He could only focus his gaze on the bright hall ahead.  It was white!  That was the first thing that came into Isidro’s mind.  He looked at a long–haired woman wearing a long white dress without thinking and quickly realized he made a mistake.  The woman’s face and figure were different from those of Rose.  No one else in the crowd wore white clothes.  Isidro relaxed. Rose still didn’t appear.  But he glanced around and saw Judson’s seat move.  The door was opened, and Judson got out of the driver’s seat. He held the car door with one hand and watched the employees filing out of the hall grimly.  Although it was dark, Isidro could feel the intense coldness around Judson.  Isidro looked back and saw a different color amid the approaching crowd.  Rose was wearing a green leisure suit jacket and light gray wide–leg pants. Her long hair was tied into a bun at the back of her head. She was walking out with her colleagues talking and laughing.  Isidro found a terrifying fact for the first time.  Il‘ Rose didn’t wear white clothes, he couldn’t find her quickly in a crowd!  The night breeze brushed Rose’s face and blew up a corner of her suit jacket, revealing the bright yellow tank top in it.  She had no white clothes on her.  She tucked her loosened hair behind her ear. Isidro couldn’t hear what she was saying to her colleagues, and her smile was cheerful and sincere. Her fair skin and red lips were shining like diamonds under the light.  Isidro stared at her eyes in a daze.  There seemed to be stars in Rose’s lustrous black eyes.  Rose used to always lower her head and be afraid of looking into people’s eyes. Her eyes could only focus when she looked at Judson. But now they had light.  Isidro always thought she was beautiful.  But now he found her even more beautiful than he imagined.  She was breathtaking.  Isidro came back to his senses and looked at Rose again. He was still holding the car door motionlessly and staring at her in the dark from afar.  After some time, when she was about to approach him and said goodbye to her colleagues, he moved and wanted to walk to her.  A silver Maserati came over and stopped in front of Rose.  “Darrin? It’s late. You…”  “I’ve just come for a short time,” Darrin interrupted her and said, “Get in the car. I will take you to see the new house.”  Rose came late tonight. She decided to rent the house.  The compound she chose was old and far from Flourish Media. But it was near Sansen Hospital. It would be convenient for her to take care of Jenifer.  Darrin parked the car downstairs and went upstairs with her. The flickering lights in the staircase made her frown.  “The management of the compound is so lame.”  “It’s not that bad.” Rose was fine with it.  She couldn’t afford to pick.  Once the door was opened, an apartment with one bedroom was revealed, smelling of mold.  Noticing Darrin was frowning hard, Rose pushed the door open and said, “I just need to ventilate the apartment.”  The apartment was small. The bedroom only had a bed and a closet. There was a kitchen beside the balcony, adjacent to the bathroom.  There were chimney spots on the counter.  Half of the tiles on the bathroom floor were broken.  Noticing Darrin looked upset, Rose quickly explained, “I will live here temporarily. When I have time, I will clean and fix it.”  Darrin didn’t say anything and felt uncomfortable.  Rose’s parents died for the Roach family, and Rose could only afford  He wouldn’t admit that because he lived an extravagant life, he rarely saw rooms like these. He found them offending to the eye.  When the closet was opened, half of its door dropped off and was barely connected to the cases.  “Its hinges are broken.” Rose quickly turned around and picked up a small tool case from her bed. “It’s simple. I saw a tutorial video online. I will fix it in no time.”  Darrin’s face darkened as he grabbed her hand, pulling it in front of his eyes. “What happened to your fingers?”  There was a purple […]

Chapter 20 The Reporter Is Ms. Edwards  “Now, now,” Tameka coaxed Judson after annoying him. “It’s rare for you to come to my place. I’ve got something nice for you. Come upstairs and take a look.”  When they arrived at Tameka’s office, she took out two albums.  Tameka handed one of them to Judson.  Judson casually glanced at it. He immediately frowned slightly and snapped it shut.  “What’s this?”  Tameka sat in her chair and swiveled around.  “I’m still keeping the matters between you and Rose a secret from your grandfather…”  “Matters between us?” Judson’s tone grew cranky. “She made a scene. Just ignore her. The more we care about her, the more arrogant she will be…”  Tameka acted as if she hadn’t heard what Judson had said. She  continued with her own topic, “If your grandpa finds out that you two broke up, I don’t know what will happen to him on his 80th birthday. You’d better hurry up and pick a new girlfriend to pacify him first.”  Judson thought, “If I bring a new girlfriend to Grandpa after breaking up with Rose, he will be pissed off to death.”  Judson was irritated. “Mom, can you stop messing around?”  www  Tameka turned à deaf ear to his words, flipped open the album, held it upright, and showed the girls‘ pictures to Judson.  “Look, these pretty young girls are all from noble families. Choose one right away, so I can go help Rose.”  Judson frowned, wondering what other tricks Tameka hadn’t shown.  “Rose?”  “Yeah,” Tameka put down the album in her hand, picked up another one next to her, and flipped it open with a smile. “The Edwards family did us a great favor, and I have always worried about Rose’s marriage. In the past, I was stupid enough to set you up, resulting in your bad ending. Now I’ve come around…”  She turned to a page and pointed at it before Judson. “The second son of Donlim Group’s president. He’s a good–looking man with a good character. Does he suit Rose?”  “No!” Judson slapped the album with a livid face. “The Edwards family has long declined. She is not qualified to marry into such a good family.”  “You don’t need to worry about this.” Tameka’s face turned cold and flung the album of girls at Judson.  “Mind your own business and pick a new girlfriend. You’re not important. What our family needs is a daughter–in–law.”  Judson had to take Tameka’s unreasonable request seriously.  “I’ll get Rose back before dinner today, okay?”  Tameka gave a winning smile. “Do you know where she is?”  Judson was slightly stunned. “You know?”  He didn’t even know his eyes were becoming terrifying when he thought of where Rose might have gone.  Tameka raised her head with pride. “No.”  Judson was speechless.  He straightened up, not wanting to waste more time on her.  “I’ll bring her back. Nothing like that will happen again until my grandpa’s birthday party.”  Tameka gazed silently into Judson’s eyes. He couldn’t read her pretty face.  “Mr. Roach!” Isidro broke in, flustered. “The legal team found out who the report was. They want to know if you still want to sue her.”  The topic changed drastically.  Judson did a double–take before frowning. “Of course! What’s wrong with her identity?”  Isidro felt that the recent things would make him lose at least three years of his life.  He stammered, “Yes…”  Isidro glanced at Tameka, who was dazed. “Mr. Roach, should we go out first or wait…”  “Say it now.” Judson wasn’t that patient. He was not in the mood to care about that reporter right now.  Isidro gathered his courage to speak energetically.  “At the request of our lawyers, Flourish Media provided Fatima’s real  name so that we can sue her.”  “And then?” Judson didn’t understand why Isidro had made such a fuss about a reporter.  Judson felt after working with him for many years, Isidro had become even less collected than before.  Isidro breathed more heavily, his voice growing louder.  “Fatima… is Ms. Edwards!”  In the room, there was silence for a second.  “What?” 

Chapter 19 Spoiled  “Rose…” Darrin’s concerned voice came from behind the trees.  He had been following her in his car.  Rose sniffed and held her tears back,  With her head raised, she smiled lightly, “I’m fine.”  She walked across the green belt, opened the car door, and got into the  car.  After fastening the seat belt, she gave Darrin a big smile. “I always overestimated myself and realized it when I quit.”  “Don’t say that.” Darrin stepped on the gas. “You were a miracle.”  Rose said nothing but turned to enjoy the night view. Her hands were on her belly…  Seven years ago…  Because of the powerful secret, she climbed out of the window on a snowy day and down the tube attached to the wall.  However, the tube broke out of the cold, and she fell. A tube pierced her stomach.  To get rid of those people chasing after her and pass the secret…  She put snow on her wound caused by the tube to stop the bleeding. Then she hid in the snow for two hours.  Finally, Darrin saved her.  She was not a miracle.  She made it at the cost of her future life.  Similarly, she gave all her love to Judson, so she lost the ability to love someone else.  “Look at this.” Darrin gave her a lawyer’s letter. “If you don’t want to go to court, we will deal with it for you.”  Judson’s men insisted on suing her.  Flourish Media made wiser choices. No one went to Rose for her ID. The lawyer’s letter was given to Darrin.  Rose lowered her head to look at the signature of the lawyer. “I got this.”  She had nothing to fear about.  After staying with Judson for years, she knew him well. If he wanted to warn her, it would be a letter from his company’s lawyers.  But if he wanted to sue her, he would ask his personal lawyer to deal with it.  She looked up at Darrin with gratitude. “I can’t rely on you all the time.”  Even if Darrin didn’t say anything, Rose knew that he would take the  blame.  Judson didn’t know the real identity of Fatima Meyer.  Otherwise, their fight would not have been just about Maria.  Judson was determined to sue Fatima Meyer probably because he  believed that Fatima Meyer worked for Darrin or it was Darrin.  “I will find more evidence.” Rose put the letter between them and looked at it. “Darrin, no one can beat me anymore.”  No one…  No one could make her walk in the snow with a sharp tube in her waist…  “We will help you.” Darrin could see her face. He had complex feelings. “Don’t worry.”  “I am not worried.” Rose stretched out.  Nothing was fearful if she didn’t love anyone.  new  ***  ***  It took a whole night to pack up Rose’s belongings in the Imperial Garden.  The next afternoon, her belongings were delivered as Tameka ordered.  Tameka loved flowers, so she ran Florale Tea House, which was elegant and low–key. Sometimes, it would be closed. Usually, the customers were her good friends and her guests. 

Chapter 18 They Don’t Owe You  A bang sounded.  Rose’s glass dropped.  Her face turned pale.  Dr. Dylan…  The doctor who should have performed surgery on Jenifer was surnamed Dylan too.  That doctor left the country at night when Jenifer was in danger. She tried to stop him and almost died. Yet, she failed to stop him.  “Rose, what’s wrong?” Tameka was shocked. She sat next to Rose and/ held her hands. “Why does your hand feel so cold?”  Tameka touched her forehead. “Are you OK?”  “My mom is asking you questions.” Judson was cold. “Drop the act. Don’t try to make us pity you by doing so in this case.”  Tameka glared at him.  “Dr. Dylan? Brandon Dylan from the Sansen Hospital?” Rose stared at Lillian with a gloomy face.  Lillian shrank and couldn’t help leaning against Judson in fear.  Judson stretched out to put his arm behind her back.  He did that in front of everyone as if he would hug her.  “Is there another Dr. Dylan that is good enough to treat her  grandfather?” Judson answered the question on behalf of Lillian with cold eyes.  “I see.” Rose lowered her head, clenching her fists.  She stood up and smiled politely at Tameka. “Tameka, it’s late. I gotta go. Good night.”  “Rose…” Tameka grabbed her and wouldn’t let go. She looked worried. “Are you OK?”  “I’m fine.” Rose was gentle to her. “Don’t worry. I’ll take good care of myself.”  Then she pouted, turned around, and left resolutely.  Judson stood up at once and shouted, “Rose!”  How dare she leave in front of his mother?  But Darrin chased after her first. Hearing Judson’s shout, he turned around and looked into his eyes coldly.  “Jenifer’s attending doctor is Dr. Dylan too.”  “So what?” Judson asked with a cold face.  How could Darrin know a lot about Jenifer as an outsider?  Darrin sneered, “Now that you like Ms. Stewart so much and care  about her so much, why don’t you let her go? She and her family don’t owe you anything!”  Then Darrin ran after Rose.  Judson was mad and wanted to follow them.  “Stop.” Tameka suddenly said.  He looked back and saw her stand up.  “Tell me about Dr. Dylan.”  “Mrs. Roach, it is not his fault,” Lillian hurriedly explained. “My grandpa was in danger and he refused to be treated by foreign doctors… So I asked him for help…”  “Lillian, I know you are the most sensible girl. Don’t interrupt us. Thanks.” Tameka interrupted her with a smile.  Lillian didn’t dare to say anything.  Tameka wanted to say something, but a thought came to her mind. She looked back at Lillian with a smile.  Her kind smile made Lillian nervous, however. “Mrs. Roach…”  “Lillian, you knew Dr. Dylan was Jenifer’s attending doctor, right?”  “I didn’t. Later, I learned that. I felt bad about it and even found some doctors to treat Jenifer today. But Rose mistook that I wanted to hurt Jenifer. She hit me and almost pushed me downstairs…”  Lillian wanted to cry. “Judson knew it. I didn’t lie. I didn’t slander her. If she hadn’t hit me so hard, I wouldn’t have told you about the fight… I have to give up on my work tomorrow.”  Lillian thought that Tameka would take her side.  However, Tameka asked her to leave in a gentle tone.  “Lillian, go home and have a good rest before you go back to work. Don’t come to the Imperial Garden again. You know, this is not a good place to stay. It is not a good idea for you to stay here. Or your mom  will be mad at me.”  It sounded…  It sounded reasonable.  Tameka was Judson’s mother. Even though her words sounded a bit strange, Lillian wouldn’t dare to refuse.  Annoyed though, Lillian said goodbye to Judson and left with tears. 

Chapter 17 Double Standard  Tameka paused in shock.  Judson walked down with a gloomy face. There were bruises around his eyes and chin. His mouth was a bit swollen too.  He was no better than Darrin, who had an ice bag on his face.  Tameka was angrier.  She frowned. “Look at you! It’s stupid to fight. You even lost! Shame on you! Why did he keep you alive?”  Darrin was speechless.  He didn’t know what Tameka was talking about.  Judson walked to her but looked at Darrin. “Get lost.”  Darrin’s face turned cold.  The atmosphere became intense in the living room.  Tameka suddenly felt relieved, which eased the tension.  “Good.” She patted her chest and looked at Rose with a smile as Rose walked downstairs slowly. “Rose is safe and sound. Good…”  Seeing Lillian’s face, Tameka was startled. She thought Rose got beaten up too.  But Rose looked calm and neat. Tameka knew that she was fine.  Lillian was annoyed at once.  “Mrs. Roach.” She cried with red eyes. Her cheek was swollen. “You said it was wrong to fight and you would ask her to make an  apology…”  “I mean Judson and Darrin.” Tameka was gentle. “You are just girls in a small conflict. It was not a fight.  “And you could hit back!” Before Lillian defended herself, Tameka said.  “You lost because you were too weak. Lillian, you know what, sometimes, you need to be tough. You can get nothing if you stay weak. It’s not a time for weak women. Understand?”  Lillian was speechless.  She didn’t know which side Tameka had taken.  Last time, Tameka praised Lillian as a gentle and elegant woman and complained that girls were crazy nowadays.  That was a double standard!  “Tameka.”  Rose walked over, and Tameka took her hand with a smile. “Rose, I got the news and came over. I’m relieved to see you here.”  Rose looked at her familiar and kind face.  It was hard, but she had to tell Tameka about her decision.  “Tameka, I came to return things to Judson. I will leave now.”  Rose moved here at the age of 10. Tameka treated her as her daughter. Rose knew that the best way to pay Tameka back was to accept all her  kindness.  But Rose had no choice but to disappoint her.  “I…broke up with Judson.”  She broke up with Judson.  She didn’t say that it was an option from Judson.  It was her last dignity as well as her last kindness to Judson.  In the living room, it was very quiet.  People’s faces changed.  Lillian’s eyes lit up. She looked down, pondering.  Tameka was shocked.  But Judson’s face turned dark.  What did he say to Rose just now?  He asked her to watch her mouth.  But Rose caused trouble at once.  How could she enjoy being under the spotlight so much?  Tameka was so nice to her, but she used Tameka and made Tameka  anxious.  What an ungrateful woman!  Tameka recovered from the shock seconds later. “Rose, I know Judson isn’t caring enough. We spoiled him. I will teach him to be a good man. Don’t be mad at him, OK?”  “Don’t worry.” Lillian worried that Rose would agree, so she hurriedly said, “Even if Ms. Edwards can’t be with Judson, she still has Mr.  Carroll. Today, Mr. Carroll did a lot for her…”  “Ms. Stewart, I had

Chapter 16 I’m Not a Toy  Before Rose could walk out of the room, Judson took out his phone.  “Isidro, come upstairs and call the police. There is a thief,” he ordered.  Maria’s face changed.  Her legs went weak, and she knelt. “Mr. Roach, I didn’t…”  “Talk to the police.” Judson was not loud. But he shut Maria up. “You seem to have done this a lot.”  Isidro ran over. “Mr. Roach, the police will come soon…”  Judson said, “Investigate her and everyone here to see if things like this happened before. I need workers, not thieves.”  Maria was on the ground. ‘Isidro waved his hand, and a bodyguard pulled Maria away.  Judson turned around and looked at Rose, his tone cold. “Satisfied?”  Rose was surprised and almost laughed out.  She smiled, “You are dealing with your maid. It has nothing to do with me. As long as you feel happy, my feelings don’t matter.”  Isidro widened his eyes at once.  He couldn’t believe his ears.  Was she the obedient woman in front of Judson?  Judson frowned with impatience. “What’s wrong with you? Why are  you talking like this?”  He stepped forward to grab her.  Somehow, he felt that Rose was not just mad.  She was abnormal.  19  Even though he didn’t care much about her, he could tell that she was abnormal.  But he didn’t know why and was not patient enough.  Judson pulled her to himself, causing her shoulder to hit his chest. “Alright. It is late.”  Usually, she could understand him as long as he said that.  It was late…  She should know what he meant.  Although she was slow in many things, he was satisfied with their sex.  However, Rose shook off his hand and looked at him coldly. “You are not deaf and blind, right? Didn’t you hear Maria?”  When Maria mocked her, the water stopped running in the bathroom.  Judson must have known how Maria humiliated her.  Otherwise, he wouldn’t have punished her so briefly.  Although he didn’t love Rose, he was not that bad. But Rose was not grateful.  She wouldn’t be grateful to him.  She deserved to be treated fairly.  In the past, Judson had done many unfair things to her. But she had never been mad at him.  Now, he just did a small thing for her. Why should she be grateful just for that?  “What do you want then?” Judson approached her with cold eyes. “Do you want to kill her for a necklace?”  Wasn’t it enough to call the police for an investigation?  How could she be so vicious?  “Rose, don’t push your luck!”  www  Rose looked at him as if she hadn’t known him. For the first time, she realized their difference in thinking.  There was a huge gap. But she dreamed of marrying him!  Rose felt it was ridiculous.  She opened her mouth. Finally, her stronger dignity surpassed her declining shame.  She chuckled, “Mr. Roach, I’m not your sex partner.”  They broke up.  He gave her the option.  Judson frowned heavily. “You can’t take it just because of a maid’s words? Aren’t you strong in mind? What? You suddenly want dignity after so many years?” 

Chapter 15 Abandoned  Enduring the sadness, Rose said coolly, “You are generous. Some pieces of jewelry in the box are expensive. If you…give them to Ms. Stewart, she will be happy…”  He should not have smashed them.  “You think she will take your trash?” Judson sneered mockingly, “You think she likes jewelry as you do?”  Was Lillian as vain and insincere as Rose?  Rose was snobbish and greedy. But she pretended to be kind, low–key, and noble.  Rose claimed that Judson was not in the place to mention her parents.  So he decided to target Rose.  “I understand that you feel insecure. But we’ve offered you a good life. Rose, why are you so greedy?”  He glanced at the gifts on the ground more ironically. “You cherished these cheap craps, but now, you want to return them. Don’t you feel bad about it?”  Judson stood up, pulled his collar, and walked to the bathroom. “You can throw them away if you don’t want them. Don’t ruin my mood!”  Rose looked at the gifts on the ground with cool eyes.  In fact, not everything here was expensive.  He gave her some fancy bracelets. But he also gave her the medal he  won and his limited–edition cards…  It made sense to call them “craps“.  But he said she was greedy…  If he meant that she couldn’t get enough of his concern, she was indeed greedy.  She was very greedy then.  Maybe she changed her mind or got used to it.  Rose didn’t feel much pain in the face of Judson’s words.  She planned to go.  But Judson had someone clean the room.  Seeing the jewelry on the ground, a middle–aged maid blinked her  eves.  She casually put everything in the trash can and smiled craftily at Rose.  “Ms. Edwards, don’t be so sad. Only an innocent girl like you would fall for the trap of engagement. Everyone here knows you are just a sex partner. You overestimate yourself… In my opinion, you should accept your fate. You should go back to your place. How can you change your destiny by doing so?”  The maid was as terrible as her master.  Rose pondered.  The maid’s disdain was the same as Judson’s.  A bang sounded….  The door to the bathroom was opened.  Judson was wearing a bathrobe. His hair was wet. And he looked around gloomily.  The maid bent hurriedly, pretending to be respectful.  Rose didn’t think she should stay here anymore. She didn’t leave at once because she worried that the maid might slander her.  There were valuable things in the box. She didn’t want to be entangled with Judson, so it was better to end this in private.  She stood up.  However, Judson said coldly, “Stop.”  Rose paused, noticing the maid’s stiff back.  “Take them out,” said Judson.  His voice sounded scary. But Rose was sure that he was not talking to her.  The maid turned around slowly with a flattering smile. She bent and raised the trash can, “Mr. Roach, Ms. Edwards asked me to throw them away…”  Judson’s eyes turned cold.  “Do you want to take out the things in your pocket on your own or do you need some help?”  The maid kneeled at once.  “Ms. Edwards, I…” She shook and stammered. With a shaking hand, she took out a necklace from her pocket. “Ms. Edwards…didn’t want  this and gave it to me…”  She turned to Rose and said faster, “Ms. Edwards, you are nice and generous. I broke the rules and shouldn’t have taken this.”  She threw the necklace at Rose as if it was a hot potato. “Please forgive me. I am just a nobody. Don’t let Mr. Roach get me wrong!” 

Chapter 14 Her Treasure  Rose pushed back the coat at once into Judson’s hand.  She smiled lightly, “Thank you, but you should save it for Ms.  Stewart.”  Judson’s face turned cold. He gnashed his teeth and said in a low voice, “Rose, you’d better not go too far…”  Rose chuckled, “No. I can’t take your kindness.”  She felt she was stupid before because she even took his harmful kindness.  She took the pain as evidence of his love.  But when Rose traced back to the past, she found nothing but ugly memories. It was worthless and timeworn.  “Jenifer.” Rose didn’t want to be entangled with Judson. “Just have a good rest. Don’t worry. I am busy, so I can’t visit you every day.”  Jenifer was young but considerate. Rose worried that Jenifer would overthink it. It would be bad for her recovery.  “But…” Rose touched Jenifer’s hat. Because of chemotherapy, Jenifer lost her hair. “Jenifer, don’t worry. Although I can’t stay by your side all the time, I won’t let anything bad happen. In the worst case…”  She said meaningfully, “Some people are cowards. But you are brave, right?”  After leaving the ward, Lillian cried to Judson, “Judson, I tried to find  good doctors for Jenifer, but Rose misunderstood me. It’s OK that she hit me. But she even mocked me in front of Jenifer… I know I should be generous. But I feel so sad…”  Rose was implicit, but people were not idiots.  Apparently, Rose meant that she would take revenge if anything bad happened to Jenifer.  Judson looked at Rose gloomily. “Come back with me.”  He pinched her arm and pulled her.  Rose stepped back, and Darrin wanted to stop him too.  But Judson looked back. “Don’t you care about your cousin’s life the most? Rose, I am wondering who is the coward!”  Rose bit her lips and shook her head at Darrin.  It had been a mess. She didn’t want to make things worse.  Anyway, she had something to discuss with Judson. So she could take the chance to do it.  After returning to the Imperial Garden, under the housekeeper and servants‘ curious gazes, Judson pulled Rose to the second floor. He locked the door.  “Take off your clothes.”  He was cold.  Rose paused.  He lost his patience and tore her clothes.  The room was bright. Her skin was exposed.  Rose stretched out to cover her body subconsciously, but Judson pulled her hands away. He stared coldly at the bruises on her collarbone and shoulders. There were also scars on her waist.  “How did you get hurt?”  Rose felt less nervous.  She looked away casually. “I fell by accident.”  She was cool. But she remembered the scraping of the tires from that night.  Judson sneered ironically, “Who knows if you got hurt in an accident or sex?”  The bruises seemed to be caused by old injuries. Maybe she got hurt when she followed him secretly days ago.  She asked for it!  Rose’s shoulders shook, but she smiled.  “Why are you smiling?” Judson frowned.  He took a step forward and made her look at him by pinching her chin and raising her face. “Am I right?”  He gritted his teeth with cold eyes. “Who is it? Your lover, Darrin Carroll? Or other men?”  As he said, he put his palm down to grab her waist.  Rose struggled, only to be held on to harder. The pain made her gasp and shed tears. Her waist was in the worst condition.  Judson’s tone was as gloomy as his eyes. “What? You let other men  touch you but not me?”  Rose looked down and held back her tears out of pain. Then she smiled ironically.  “Mr. Roach, wait. I have something for you.”  Her sudden respect drew a distance between them.  Judson frowned and wanted to say something when there were knocks on the door.  Rose took the chance to hide in the dressing room, where she got changed and covered her body.  When she came out, she saw Judson on the sofa with something in his hand. 

Chapter 13 Crash His Rationality  Judson froze.  How long had it been since he last saw Rose cry?  No…  Rose never cried when faced with him.  He had most seen her red and swollen eyes.  Once, he thought that she was reserved, so she felt shy when crying in front of others.  Later, he felt that she was cunning, so she misled others, letting others think of her as a reserved woman so as to win sympathy.  But for the first time, he saw her tears.  Her tears were like crystals. Sad but sharp. Her hatred and pain could be seen in her tears.  Judson wanted to block his eyes when feeling her tense emotions.  “You…”  As soon as he said this, Rose was brought away from him.  “Judson, how can you bully a woman? Is that all you can do?”  Darrin stood between them.  This was also the first time for him to see Rose’s tears.  Seven years ago, Rose had her abdomen pierced by a steel tube. But in order to keep evidence, she never made a sound…  At this time, there was a drop of tears on her face.  The drop of tears crashed Darrin’s rationality and endurance.  He bent over and picked Rose’s phone up from the ground. He put the phone in her hands and suddenly turned his hand to grab her wrist.  “Go with me!”  Darrin wanted to pull Rose out of the ward.  Judson’s pupils shrank.  He stepped forward to grab Darrin’s collar, pulling Darrin backward. Then he swung his fist over.  “No!” Rose cried in shock.  Darrin and Judson had fought once. Darrin was no match for Judson at all.  Her sudden cry made Judson stop. Judson’s fist was right in front of Darrin’s face. Judson mocked Rose with a sneer, “Are you worried about him?”  Rose froze. Then she returned to being calm.  “Yes.” She slightly nodded and admitted it. “Darrin cares about me. And I’m worried about him.”  The fire of anger lit up in Judson’s originally cold eyes. Anger filled his face.  Before he continued to attack, Darrin’s fist hit toward him.  Judson froze. Then he avoided the fist out of instinct.  But Darrin’s fist still brushed across Judson’s face.  It caused only a little pain on Judson’s face. But Judson got angry.  He grabbed Darrin and attacked again.  This time, he didn’t hesitate. He used all his strength.  Darrin staggered backward for a few steps with the punch. He happened to stand by Lillian’s side.  Darrin stood up, wiped the blood beside his mouth, and was about to fight back. However, Lillian suddenly hugged him from behind. Her hands reached from down his arms to his front, controlling his body firmly  “Mr. Carroll, don’t do this.” Although she said this, she was actually helping Judson control Darrin. “Don’t make things big.”  Darrin hesitated for a while and failed to get rid of Lillian. Judson’s second punch had arrived.  “Judson!” Rose rushed forward to grab his waist and held him behind. “Don’t fight! How can you hit him?”  Darrin had gotten rid of Lillian. Taking the chance that Judson was held back by Rose, he returned the punch Judson gave him just now back to Judson.  The punch made Judson fall out of Rose’s arms.  “Rose!” Lillian shouted with shock. Her words were really biased. “How can you help Mr. Carroll? You held Judson back so that Mr. Carroll could hit him!”  The two men were fighting.  Lillian wanted to repeat her trick just now again and control Darrin. But Rose found out her intention. Rose grabbed Lillian’s hair and pulled Lillian to the side.  Lillian tilted her head, shouted out loudly, and wanted to grab Rose’s hair. But she was slapped by Rose, feeling dazed.  “Where is my brooch?” Rose couldn’t stop the two men from fighting. She lowered her head to ask Lillian, “I told you. If you refuse to give it to me, I will slap you every time I see you.”  Lillian waved her hands and refused to answer the question. Rose slapped her again. “Where is my brooch?” 

Chapter 12 Don’t Mention Them  Rose asked for leave and rushed to the hospital. It was already twilight.  Lillian was the only one in Jenifer’s ward.  Rose approached Lillian and questioned her, “Ms. Stewart, what did you do to Jenifer?”  “What did I do?” Lillian smiled strangely.  “Rose, how could you ask me? I kindly told you about my relationship with Judson, but you revealed it to the media. How can you do that to me? You should do some good deeds for Jenifer’s sake.”  Lillian wanted to show off in front of Rose, but she didn’t expect Rose to tell the media.  Lillian was humiliated in front of Judson.  Now, Lillian had to deny their love affair and dispel rumors about that recording.  She did it to make a good impression on Judson.  Lillian knew that her plan of revealing their relationship failed…  Lillian hated Rose’s guts. She humiliated Rose with the most vicious words in the world.  However, Rose managed to restrain her anger.  Lillian liked Judson, so she was jealous of Rose. Over the years, Lillian had done many disgusting things.  Rose focused on her question. “Where is Jenifer?”  “Where is Jenifer?” Lillian smiled again in a strange way. She leaned towards the window with her head stretched out. Then Lillian looked downstairs with strong implication.  “Jenifer heard that her doctor left the country and no one could cure her. She also heard you broke up with Judson. She knew you no longer had money to pay her treatment fee, and she was so sad…”  Rose’s mind went blank, and she ran to the window subconsciously.  It was dark outside.  There was a green lawn downstairs, which could be seen clearly under the street lamps. No one was there.  Rose realized that she had been taken in by Lillian.  Lillian knew suicide would lead to Rose’s trauma stress.  Lillian had been giving Rose psychological hints intentionally since she called Rose over.  She approached Rose from behind.  Lillian grabbed Rose’s shoulder and pushed her downstairs!  “Rose, go to hell!” Lillian looked ferocious. “Why didn’t you die with your mother?”  However, Rose was prepared.  Rose turned one side of her shoulder and twisted Lillian’s arm with one hand. She pushed Rose and reversed their positions in an instant.  Rose grabbed Lillian’s neck and pressed her upper body out of the  window.  “You want me to die?” She clung to Lillian, who was struggling in panic. Rose would not let Lillian escape.  Rose looked calm, as if she never misunderstood that Jenifer had jumped off the building. “You want to become Judson’s wife so desperately?”  Lillian was scared to tears. “Rose, Rose, I’m just joking with you. Can you let me go? I’m a little afraid of heights…”  “Are you?” Rose smiled mockingly. “You pushed me so hard. I thought you enjoyed it.”  Lillian never expected that Rose would see through her trick.  Lillian pretended to cry, “Rose, I was wrong, I was really wrong… I didn’t want to take Judson away from you, will you let me go? Don’t be angry, I will never talk to Judson again…”  Rose was trying to scare Lillian again. Suddenly, Someone grabbed her from behind.  She was dragged back by someone.  She was dragged so hard that she stepped back and fell to the ground. Her body hit the hospital bed.  Rose looked up. Judson had helped Lillian stand up.  He was very rude when dragging Rose, but now he was careful, gentle, and considerate in front of Lillian. “Lillian, are you injured?”  Lillian jumped into Judson’s arms, shook with fear, and cried out loud, “Judson, I am so scared, I thought I would die…”  Judson let Lillian hide behind him and looked coldly at Rose. Rose was sitting on the ground in a mess. Judson’s face darkened.  “How dare you?”  Judson wondered, “If I didn’t come in time, would you kill Lillian?”  Lillian shrunk and grabbed Judson’s arm. “Judson, don’t blame Rose. It’s my fault. I invited experts to treat Jenifer, but I didn’t inform Rose. Rose misunderstood that I hurt Jenifer, so…”  Lillian cried very sadly. “These experts were very busy. It was very hard to invite them… I’m sorry, I should have told you…”  Rose’s eyes met Judson’s icy gaze.
