A black car pulled up outside the studio.  Chapter 58  The door swung open, and out came a bunch of goons armed with sticks, heading straight for the studio!  “Smash it up!” they shouted.  And with that, they swung their sticks at the studio. They were all so aggressive and  intimidating that everyone was scared shitless, and passersby were throwing them curious looks.  Brittany was about to answer some questions when she saw them coming and her face turned pale.  “Hannah, move!” she yelled.  Hannah was standing with her back to them, oblivious to the danger. Brittany quickly pulled her aside, but not before getting hit on the arm with a stick. The pain made her gasp!  These guys were clearly prepared. A few swings and the sign were smashed. One of the goons in the back was carrying a bucket of pig’s blood, which he promptly dumped all over Brittany.  “Let’s see if you dare to plagiarize again!”  “Loraine is not one to be messed with!”  “Get out of Imperial City!”  Brittany was covered in pig’s blood; the stench was unbearable. The sound of shattering glass resounded in her ears, she felt as if her soul had been sucked out, standing there in shock.  Hannah and the others finally reacted and tried to stop the goons. They were hurling insults, so Hannah picked up a stick and swung it at them. “Get out or we’re calling the cops!”  On such a festive day, they had the nerve to cause trouble!  This reeked of a setup!  William stepped forward, took off his jacket, and draped it over Brittany. He pulled out his phone and dialed 911.  The goons tried to make a run for it when they saw the police being called, but Hannah blocked them, swinging her stick. Chaos ensued.  Brittany’s vision was a sea of red. Her arm throbbed with pain, but her heart hurt more. She turned around to see the studio she had painstakingly decorated, destroyed. It was like a tornado had swept through, all traces of her hard work, shattered. Ignoring the pig’s blood on her, William picked her up and rushed her to the hospital.  ———  15:23  “Mr. Salter, you okay?”  Nathan tapped on the table, reminding Isaac that he had been spacing out for the third time. He noticed that Isaac seemed distracted. Was it because of Ms. Dustin’s studio opening today?  Isaac snapped back to reality and cleared his throat. “Sorry, let’s continue.”  Meanwhile, Loraine and Sydney arrived at Grandeur Capital. They were not stopped and went straight to the meeting room.  The secretary recognized them and said. “Mr. Salter is in a meeting, please wait a moment.”  Sydney was not willing to wait. “Do you know who we are? I am his cousin. Tell him I want to see him now!”  The secretary didn’t dare to offend Sydney, but neither did she dare to let them in without permission.  Loraine had always disliked Sydney’s high profile and felt a little embarrassed. If she knew, she wouldn’t have brought her!  Just as they were at a standstill, Nathan came out of the meeting room. Sydney quickly. grabbed his arm, “Nathan, where’s Zac?”  Nathan pulled his arm free. “Ms. Ramsey, Mr. Salter is in a meeting.”  “Tell Zac that Loraine is here. We have something important to discuss.”  Nathan wasn’t too fond of Sydney, who was often snobbish and caused trouble because of her family background.  “Ms. Ramsey, please wait.”  After getting Sydney’s message, Isaac didn’t take it seriously. He signed the contract and only then did he signal for them to come in.  Sydney and Loraine entered the meeting room.  “Zac.” Sydney, who had been so arrogant before, was now gentle and obedient.  The secretary behind them was speechless… Such acting skills, she could win an Oscar!  Isaac was reviewing some documents. He took off his glasses and said coolly, “What is it?”  Sydney walked up in her high heels, “Zac, do you remember the woman who plagiarized Loraine?” 

Chapter 57  She put one of the fruit plates in front of Isaac. “Fruits for dessert.”  “Thanks.”  Seeing him about to get back to work, Brittany didn’t disturb him. She sat down on the sofa, put on her headphones, and started browsing news about a recent jewelry exhibition on her tablet.  After she finished, it was only half past nine. Brittany said goodnight to Isaac after washing up and retreated to her room to rest.  Early the next morning, after a quick breakfast, Brittany headed straight for the studio.  Kari was already there. “Good morning, Brittany.”  Brittany greeted her with a smile. “Good morning.”  The sign had already been made. The studio was named – Bri–jeweled Studio. The name was taken from Brittany’s own name.  First thing in the morning, the workers brought the sign and installed it.  Brittany wasn’t exactly Miss Popularity, but having Kari around at least meant the place wasn’t completely deserted.  The studio officially opened at ten in the morning. Hannah had taken the day off to come, and she had even invited the Chester family, who brought several large baskets of flowers.  Tanya looked around the studio and was quite pleased. “Bri, you’ve picked a great location for your studio. You’ll definitely do well!”  “No doubt about it. With a location like this, Bri’s going to rake in the big bucks!”  Knowing that they were just trying to cheer her up, Brittany felt a little reassured and thanked them one by one.  In addition to the Chester family, William also came. He brought two baskets of flowers and some sunflowers, Brittany’s favorite.  “Bri, congratulations. Wishing you a thriving business and success.”  Brittany took the bouquet, “Thanks, William. Come on in.”  When Kari saw William, she leaned over to Brittany and said mysteriously. “Is this the guy you’re dating, Brittany?”  “Of course not, he’s a schoolmate from college. You must not have seen him since you came in late.” Brittany put down the bouquet, planning to put it in her office later as a feast for her eyes.  “Oh, I see.”  “William is the design director of VelvetGlow Jewellery and a distinguished graduate of Imperial.  University.”  Brittany had known since her freshman year that William was very talented. After getting to know him better, she admired him even more. He was someone she looked up to.  William knew the Chester family as well, and they all sat down and had a great chat.  Seeing William, Hannah felt even more regretful. Why hadn’t he ended up with Brittany? She walked over to Brittany and grabbed her hand. “Your husband didn’t show any interest to your studio opening?”  Weren’t they married? The husband didn’t even show up for his wife’s grand opening?  Brittany was a little disappointed that Isaac hadn’t come, but she understood that he had work. “Zakky’s really busy with work, so he couldn’t make it.”  Hannah rolled her eyes. “How busy could he be? Busier than our big boss?”  Her big boss was busy, but he’s not as busy as Bri’s husband!  “Why are you getting mad when I’m not even mad?” Brittany looked helplessly at Hannah, about to say something else.  “Hello, flower basket.”  A delivery guy was standing at the door with a huge basket of flowers. “Is Ms. Dustin here?”  “Here it is.”  Brittany guessed that the flower basket was from Isaac. After signing for it and shooing Hannah away, she opened the little card on the basket.  Sure enough, it was him.  (Good luck! – Zakky. 1  The handwriting was as sharp and cold as him.  Brittany carefully took down the card, intending to keep it as a memento, but Hannah grabbed it from her. Seeing the handwriting, she was stunned.  This handwriting… it seemed familiar?  “Hannah, what’s wrong?”  Hannah stopped her: “Don’t speak! I think I’ve seen this handwriting somewhere.”  Where had she seen it?  Her big boss‘ handwriting was almost identical to the handwriting on this card! A bold thought flashed through Hannah’s mind. The same handwriting, the same surname… Could Brittany’s husband be her big boss?  2/3

Chapter 55  “No worries.”  Brittany shook her head, grabbed a menu from the staff, and pushed it in front of Isaac, “Order whatever you want, it’s on me today!”  Isaac glanced at the menu, “Did you get your rent money?”  “How did you know?” Brittany looked surprised, then showed a number with her fingers. “Tripled.”  Isaac knew, of course. The landlord ran off, the agency refused to take responsibility, and the police were still investigating. The money was exactly what he had covered.  “Well, I won’t hold back then.”  That’s exactly what Brittany was waiting for. She patted her chest confidently, “Order whatever you want!‘  She had tens of thousands in her pocket. She could splurge on this meal!  Although Isaac said he wouldn’t hold back, he did show some restraint. He ordered three dishes he liked, then closed the menu and pushed it back to Brittany.  “Your turn.”  Brittany had already looked at the menu and chose what she liked. She then kindly reminded the waiter, “Sorry, no cilantro in any of the dishes. My husband doesn’t eat them.”  “Sure.”  The waiter was very polite and left.  Isaac looked surprised for a moment when he heard the term ‘husband.” then a hint of hidden joy passed over his face.  Holding her juice, Brittany took a sip and hinted at the man sitting across her. “My studio is about to open.”  She actually wanted to invite Isaac to the opening ceremony, but he had to work, and she couldn’t bring herself to ask him.  “Do you want me to order some flowers for you?”  He had an important meeting tomorrow and it seemed like he couldn’t get out of it. Brittany didn’t get the response she wanted and fell a bit disappointed, but then she thought, he had to prioritize his work.  “That’s not necessary, let’s just consider this as an early celebration.”  Isaac took off his jacket, stood up, and went to the restroom.  1/3  15:23  Chapter 55  Brittany was texting Hannah, unaware of a voice from behind, “Brittany, how dare you show your face?”  Patrina stood not far away, followed by a few friends with various expressions.  Brittany put down her juice and smiled, “Is this restaurant yours?”  Did she need Patrina’s approval to come here?  Patrina was so angry she could bite. She picked up the coffee from the table and splashed it towards Brittany –  “Slap!”  “Crash!”  The sound of a crisp slap, followed by the sound of a coffee cup hitting the floor and shattering. Patrina looked at the man who suddenly appeared, stunned, then yelled, “Who are you? How dare you hit me! Are you crazy?”  Under the watchful eyes of everyone, Isaac didn’t hold back his slap. He pulled Brittany closer and looked her over, “You okay?”  This was the second time already. Were Patrina and Finn like chewing gum? They just couldn’t get rid of them!  They kept coming one after another. Hadn’t they learned their lesson?  Brittany didn’t expect Isaac to take action, but she had to admit his slap was satisfying!  Patrina freaked out, “Brittany, you actually got someone to hit me, you bitch. You ruined my life!”  Isaac grabbed Patrina’s hand, applied a bit of pressure, and Patrina started crying out in pain.  “Brittany, tell him to let Patty go!”  “Yeah, a grown man hitting a woman, that’s not gentlemanly at all!”  Everyone conveniently forgot that Patrina was the one who started this!  Brittany stood behind Isaac, meeting his eyes, as if asking, should I let go?  “Brittany, tell this man to let me go, or else, I won’t let you off,” Patrina tried to threaten.  “Zakky, let her go.”  Isaac paused, not expecting Brittany to ask him to let go, feeling a bit upset. She was being bullied to this extent, was she supposed to just swallow her anger?  Reluctantly, he let go. Still, Patrina didn’t seem to understand.  “Brittany, at least you know your place. Where did this man come from? Is he your sugar baby?  16/17  Or your cheap husband?”  Patrina laughed. “And you, Brittany has been played by so many men, I advise you to stay away from her, or else-”  “Slap!”
