Chapter 32  Sheila hastened out of the private room, retrieving her phone from her handbag to call Goldie when a force hit her, and the phone fell. Her concern was the phone, so she ignored the person who had bumped into her and rather aimed for her phone, but before her hand reached it, a faster one beat her to it. “I’m sorry I wasn’t watching where I was going,” a velvety voice spoke close to her ears. He smiled gently, handing the phone over to her. “Your phone. Please check for damages, if there are any, I will pay for it.” In a grey suit, the man looked divine, and Sheila felt that the face was familiar. She forced a smile and took the phone from him. Graciously, there weren’t any damages, and even if there were, she didn’t think it would be fair to make him pay. “It’s fine, no damages.” The man smiled, but it was as if he rather wished there had been some damages. “In that case, I would like to buy you coffee to compensate for my rudeness.” Sheila forced a smile. Being in the pack for six months without coming out, it was funny how she began to attract so many men like before. It was exhausting for her. “No need, sir. I equally wasn’t watching where I was going.” At the mention of ‘sir, the man stared at her as if she was from a different world. He stretched his hand towards her. “Alpha Ansaldo. What is your name?” Sheila shook his hand. She remembered Alpha Ansaldo from the Riverbed pack. He was very respectable, but rumors recently revealed that his mate had been killed during a recent attack on the pack. 083% 111.09 Sheila laughed so loudly that Alpha Nick was glad to have booked a private room. He knew he sounded ridiculous, and though he hadn’t discussed this with Charlotte, he hoped that she would understand how necessary it was for the sake of the pack. Sheila could not understand why her fate was like this. She didn’t deserve his love, but he trusted her to shoulder those responsibilities for her. When she made the request, she had no idea that Charlotte had returned, hoping to use the opportunity to hold off with the divorce. But what good was it when she had already signed the papers? Before the divorce, she would have been jumping up and down at this opportunity, but now, it was useless to her. Chapter 29  083% 111.09 Sheila saw the batons almost colliding with her body, her defenses alerting. She bent quickly, rolling to her back and stabilizing herself behind two of her attackers. Her action was reflexive and so fast, she pushed the two people who were now behind her in the direction of the other two, and they were hit with each other’s batons, growling from the impact. Their anger burned when they realized they were attacking themselves. Two of them had already been knocked unconscious by Sheila as she pulled their legs, making them fall and hitting their heads. The remaining two were easy for her when she picked up the batons of the unconscious attackers. Facing the two remaining masked men, who were raging from how she had just defeated those two, she beat them squarely, rendering one of them unconscious. Her high heel was pressing the head of the fourth on the ground as she bent over and peeled the mask from his face. Shock sprouted through her when she instantly recalled that he was the same person who attacked her in New York. That only meant that Charlotte sent them. “Will you talk now? Who sent you?” Sheila asked, trying to confirm what she had been guessing all along. Her rage was bubbling with a killing intent at that moment, but it wasn’t in her to kill when it wasn’t a war. Chapter 27  Sheila’s peaceful sleep was rudely interrupted by the ringing of her phone. She hadn’t slept early because of everything that had gone on last night. She and Goldie had been chatting through the night, and it was barely dawn when they managed to catch some sleep. When she picked up the phone and saw Alpha Nick’s name, she yawned, silenced it, and dropped it, not knowing it continued ringing. But when she heard a vibration, which was her message tone, she quickly checked and saw the text message. ‘If you don’t answer my call now, don’t expect me to show up in court for the final divorce procedures.‘ The sleep cleared from her eyes instantly, and in order not to wake Goldie, she rushed to the balcony before dialing Alpha Nick’s number. He answered on the first ring, saddened at how eager she was to get the divorce over with when she was the one who confessed to being in love with him. Before she could voice her anger, his desperate cry sounded at the end of the line. “Sheila, I need a favor.” Sheila was annoyed for her sleep to be disturbed but could also not help feeling that Alpha Nick was just looking for a way to prolong the court proceedings again. Chapter 25  Five minutes passed, and Anita skillfully dodged Aspen’s punches with great expertise. Despite her small size, she took advantage of her petite frame to make it difficult for Aspen’s punches to reach her. Being taller, he had to bend more to reach her, but before he could, she would either duck or somersault, making it difficult for his punches or kicks to hit her. Chapter 24  Sheila yawned, visibly annoyed by the question. If a powerful Alpha like Nick, with all his resources, could not investigate the matter concerning Charlotte’s disappearance thoroughly, deciding to rely on the mate bond, then what has that got to do with her?
