Her heart thumped loudly, and she feared someone might hear it. What was Tom thinking to call her when they had agreed that all the calls would be done by her? “I haven’t had any updates, and you promised to call me every other day. None of that has happened as well,” Tom responded from the other end of the line, jealousy lacing his tone. He had eyes on Charlotte, and they had been dating since she was in college in New York. After graduation, she returned to her pack briefly to visit her parents. There she met Alpha Nick, who was visiting due to pack business, and they were tied together by the mate bond. Alpha Nick whisked her to his pack instantly, intending to mark and claim her, but Charlotte’s heart was already taken.  With how obsessed Alpha Nick was with her, she feared rejecting him, as Tom suggested, so she eloped on her wedding day to save herself the trouble. Before then, she had single–handedly planned the whole event to not create any suspicions and to make it seem that she was kidnapped. Things were not so rosy with Tom as she expected. Challenges knocked on their door from every angle. They also couldn’t legally marry because of the mate bond. Chapter 41  082% 11:12 Charlotte was the first to come out of the shock as so many thoughts rummaged through her mind. What use was keeping Sheila’s belongings when they were divorced? “Nick, what are you saying? How can that big room house just your ex–wife’s clothes when I, your mate, am here?” Athena was equally eager to hear his response. Alpha Nick did not have an answer to give as he did not know why he refused. His voice lowered, and his gaze softened as he thought of a worthwhile excuse. “Look. We finalized everything, but she refused to take anything. Though she already told me to get rid of all the clothes in that room, I just think it’s unfair. After all her sacrifices, the least we can do is respect her belongings.”  Athena was shocked: She thought her son lacked conscience before, but after today, she realized it wasn’t so. Alpha Nick was thoughtful after all. Meanwhile, Charlotte was fuming about the turnout of events. How could Sheila still hold such an important place in the packhouse after capturing the hearts of the pack members? It wasn’t fair to her. “Then let’s move them to another room,” she solemnly suggested, but Athena could not agree with her. Her motive before was to see if Alpha Nick was insane, but it didn’t seem.so. Unable to get Charlotte’s things out of his room, he called three of the servants and instructed, “Move my things to the Luna’s chamber. Charlotte can have my room.” This was a slap to Charlotte, as Alpha Nick was going to live in a room Sheila had just moved out of with her things in there. Was he crazy? Charlotte felt her world falling apart. Or, did his wolf hint that she had not really been kidnapped? Charlotte feared because of how she no longer had power over Alpha Nick like before, Athena was somewhat pleased with this arrangement and did not refuse, knowing there were things in Sheila’s room that would constantly remind Alpha Nick of her. Whereas Charlotte was displeased and could not allow it. Not when Alpha Nick was not going to mate with her immediately. Who knew how long it would take before he goes chasing after Sheila after sleeping in her room with her belongings in there? “No. I will stay in my room. Let things be for now,” Charlotte declared. It was a simple decision to stop Alpha Nick from sleeping in the Luna’s chamber, but strange enough, Alpha Nick was having strange ideas. At first, he was tempted to agree, but after recalling how she lay on his bed with her naked body, he couldn’t help feeling strangely repulsed. He instructed the maids. “Go ahead and move my things to the Luna’s room. My mate should be well catered for.” Pitching it in her favor, Charlotte was not offended. Chapter 40  083%) 11 11 11.11 Alpha Nick’s mind was clouded after upsetting Charlotte, and he kept running deeper into the woods. Growing tired, he wanted to communicate with his wolf but thought of a better idea. Already deep in the woods, he undressed himself before shifting, allowing his wolf to take him further and further away. Charlotte was his mate, the only woman he wanted, but he couldn’t understand why he was so upset because she went to his room. Charlotte smiled and waved at Alpha Nick, thinking he hadn’t seen her, but sadly, the man’s face was brazened as if he never knew her. “I don’t want to repeat myself.” Charlotte panicked. What happened to Alpha Nick after the divorce? What did the bitch Sheila do to him? He was behaving as if he never knew her and was blinded from seeing her. Perhaps, she should remind him of his very words since she knew about his OCPD. “Nick, I thought we’d celebrate your divorce. You said earlier that we could mate and mark each other when it was all over.” Charlotte’s voice shook slightly, and she had lost the seduction in her eyes and demeanor due to Alpha Nick’s angry gaze. Chapter 38  083% 11-11 O  As soon as Sheila scurried out of the room, the air felt different. It was as if a huge burden had been lifted from her shoulders, but it wouldn’t be long before Alpha Nick caught up to her if he found nothing on Sheila Warner. One of the bodyguards drove in front of Alpha Nick, constantly blocking his way. When he heard Alpha Nick’s frustrated horn, he gave way, but the second bodyguard was also in front, blocking his way. Alpha Nick was irritated, as he saw the yellow Ferrari disappearing ahead. When the bodyguards were satisfied that Alpha Nick would not be able to catch up, they drove in different directions. Alpha Nick was hitting his steering wheel all the way back to the packhouse for missing the opportunity to know Sheila’s location once again. If not for those stupid red Ferraris, he would have been able to catch up to her. He suddenly calmed down when he recalled that he now had her maiden name and could get all the needed information about her. As he was pulling over, his phone rang and seeing it was the investigator, his eyes lit up for good news. “Alpha, are you sure about the name? It doesn’t exist,” the investigator pointed out, Alpha Nick was greatly annoyed, raging. “Fuck you, Axel! You are the one who doesn’t exist. Sheila is my wife. How can you tell me that her name doesn’t exist?” He was so furious that the investigator panicked at the end of the line. Chapter 37  083% 11.11 “Alpha Nick, what are you doing?” Sheila asked in annoyance, not understanding what kind of game Alpha Nick was playing with her. He didn’t want her, so why was it so hard for him to let her go? Alpha Nick stared at her, his gaze serious and dark. “I can’t let you leave without anything. I won’t accept it.” Sheila’s breath caught in her throat. Her father was richer than Alpha Nick, so why take half of his pack? Aside from their usual pack businesses, the Alpha King, Julius Warner of the Moon Shine Pack, was responsible for the dues of all packs. Every pack contributed a percentage of their income to the Moon Shine Pack, so why would he not be richer than them? “Do you want to give me free money, or is your conscience pricking you?” She asked nonchalantly, in a bid to annoy him. Just when she thought everything was settled and she could go home within a few hours, it had to come up to this. “Mister, can you excuse us?” Alpha Nick asked the divorce attorney, who instantly rose to his feet. “Of course, I will attend to the next couple.” Alpha Nick’s emotions were bustling with misery; he couldn’t keep it all to himself. “Sheila, I had you investigated.” “And?” She was unfazed, knowing he wouldn’t find anything about her, Diligence was her trademark, and she ensured to wipe everything about her past. “I found nothing.” Disappointment laced his tone as he spoke. Sheila was slightly nervous when she discerned the error in her actions. If she couldn’t give Alpha Nick anything concerning her past, he might make things difficult for her since the divorce certificate was still not signed. “Which name did you use?” She asked, trying to make the correction. “Sheila Thorax.” 1/4 Emergency calls onlyr… Chapter 37 零售83% 11:11 Sheila’s lips pursed thoughtfully as she raked her mind for the perfect excuse. “You should understand that Thorax isn’t my name.” Alpha Nick felt oddly pained by the explanation, which he understood to mean that she was so eager to do away with his surname and hadn’t used it on her personal documents. That was the reason why nothing could be found on the name Sheila Thorax. “You officially changed your name after marriage, so every document holding your maiden name should still be valid,” he explained. Why was Sheila treating him like a plague she wanted to escape from? “I didn’t want it so. Our marriage was a contract, and since there is no love between us, it’s just better to not attach your name to mine,” Sheila said coldly with no hint of regret in her eyes. Chapter 36  083% 11.10 Training was over, so Alpha Nick went to his office before Charlotte could catch up to him, eager to view the report. After reading it, disappointment strangled his throat. “Luna Sheila Thorax, married to Alpha Nick Thorax six months ago. Parents deceased with no record of siblings.” Alpha Nick’s eyes darkened. If not for this report, he would have secretly followed her. How could there be nothing about her life before the marriage? He dialed the investigator’s number. “What is the meaning of what you just sent?” His anger burned. It was as if he had been scammed. The investigator, thinking he had done a good job before, was slightly taken aback. “Alpha, that is all there is on her.” “What about her birth date, pack, and the names of her parents?” Alpha Nick asked, feeling ashamed to have not checked those things before their marriage. How could he, when he was grieving Charlotte’s disappearance? Sheila meant nothing to him and was just used to cover the shame of his bride not turning up during the wedding. Also, Sheila was so into him that it made him consistently upset. The reason why he never cared about anything concerning her. “We searched through the archives but there was nothing about her. Alpha Nick, since she’s your wife, why don’t you ask her?” The investigator asked politely, Alpha Nick could only blame himself as he tasted bitterness in his mouth. “If I wanted to ask her, would I have told you to investigate her?” The investigator was speechless. How could he get that information when the Alpha himself could not get them from the woman who was his wife? At the luxury hotel, Sheila was feeling excited. “Tomorrow by this time, I will be officially free.” She held up a glass of champagne, clicking it with Goldie’s and some of the bodyguards. They were bored living in the hotel and not making themselves useful. The few times Sheila and Goldie went out, it was always without their presence and they were beginning to feel useless. Sheila’s gaze darkened instantly as she retorted. “He must or he will see the dark side of me.” She suddenly recalled something and exclaimed, “Oh, no.” “What is the matter?” Goldie asked worriedly. Sheila was saddened. “I wanted to see Ma’am yesterday but I completely forgot. I have to call her.” Picking up her phone from the table, she quickly dialed the middle–aged woman’s number. As soon as she dialed Athena’s number, she answered it on the first ring. “I thought you hate me. You came to the pack and didn’t bother to look for me.” Athena was speaking like a kid, Sheila felt both remorse and amusement. “I’m so sorry ma’am. I just wanted to be away from Alpha Nick. How is your health?” She asked softly, Luna Athena sounded disturbed. “The only thing missing in it is my heart.” Sheila could not help being saddened by her confession, asking in feigned ignorance. “Ma’am, what is wrong with your heart?” “You took it with you,” Athena responded jokingly, Sheila let out a sigh of relief, happy that the middle–aged woman did not have a heart attack as she had thought. “You scared me but I miss you so much.” “I miss you more but I understand your decision. You have such a gentle soul to have come to calm the situation. I wanted him to suffer for it but you came without informing me,” Athena revealed. Sheila was so shocked that Athena had been planning to be savage towards her son. Still, she didn’t regret her decision of going to calm the situation. “I only want peace.” “I know he’ll regret it,” Athena stated as a matter of fact. It was said that the moon goddess never made mistakes but she felt that the moon goddess had done it this time. Charlotte was undeserving of Alpha Nick. 2/4 Emergency calls only r Chapter 36 0 83% 11:11 “I rather wish him happiness.” Sheila did not feel any pain with those words. Genuinely, she wanted Alpha Nick to find happiness, even if it was with Charlotte. Athena could not accept it and refused instantly. “He can only be happy with you.”  Sheila had lost hope in that, not wishing for it anymore. “No ma’am, he looks happier with Charlotte.”  “Very soon, we will know who is right. You, or me?” Athena asked rhetorically before ending the call. Sheila had mixed feelings but she had already removed Alpha Nick from her heart. No matter what happened between him and Charlotte, she couldn’t bring herself to care about any of it. The next day, Sheila arrived at the parking lot of the court, looking excited. Letting go was a very great thing, as her heart felt lighter than ever before.

Chapter 35  083% 11:10 Alpha Nick stared at Sheila behind the steering wheel, but before he could say anything, she sped off. A small smile played at the corner of his lips. “Just you wait, Sheila. I will soon uncover the mystery surrounding you.”  He couldn’t understand why he suddenly took an interest in knowing things he didn’t know about her before. Perhaps it was all due to his initial perception of her. He thought she was marrying him for money, but the moment she rejected it, something strange stirred inside him. “Did you say something?” Charlotte asked from behind him, startling him. She was so insecure about his being alone with Sheila that she couldn’t help but follow them. To her amazement, Sheila had left, but Alpha Nick was standing there like a pillar of salt. If not for Charlotte’s presence, he would have remained so. Her arms were gently wrapped around him from the back, and Alpha Nick frowned slightly before pulling away. No one would be able to stop her from helping herself with as much as she needed. From the look of things, she no longer had to go back to her old life as it was more respectable being with Alpha Nick. She would find a way to pay off her helpers. “Then we can mate and mark each other,” she remarked. Alpha Nick suddenly tensed up at the mention of mating and marking. It was all he wanted before, but now, he oddly didn’t feel the desire for it. Still, it was his obligation to mate with Charlotte and give the pack an heir. He forced a smile. “Of course.” “Alpha, I’m sorry for being late. I was supposed to report earlier than this, but I had to take care of a few things in the packhouse,” reported Beta Dustin. He was speaking with his gaze lowered. Charlotte knew it was a lie as he didn’t want to see Sheila, but she didn’t expose him. After all, it was for her betterment if Beta Dustin didn’t like Sheila, as he was still upset that those weak pack members had become strong warriors because of Sheila and not him. “What is that?” Alpha Nick asked seriously, having not heard about any emergency in the packhouse. Beta Dustin’s gaze lowered, not expecting him to ask. Quickly, he made up something. “Some of the servants were fighting. It’s nothing serious.” Alpha Nick hummed but did not dig further, being displeased with Beta Dustin’s inability to bid Sheila a proper goodbye. “Since you are here, you train with your trainees, and I will handle the new group.” “Sheila’s trainees?” Charlotte asked with a deep frown, recalling Anita. How could she allow that little wench close to Alpha Nick? Somehow, Alpha Nick didn’t like the way she addressed those warriors. “Sheila is no longer here. They are now my trainees.” There was a tinge of pride in his voice as he said those words. Sheila had entrusted them to him and he didn’t plan to let her down after all her hard work. 2/4  Emergency calls only Chapter 35  083% 11-10 “I agree, but can you stay away from Anita?” Charlotte asked directly before biting her tongue for being indiscipline. How could she take back her words? “Why?” Alpha Nick curiously asked. Charlotte’s brain couldn’t process any proper lie, so she blurted out the truth.

Chapter 34  083%  D11 10 The tension in the gym was thick, and Charlotte felt her throat go dry. She was overwhelmed with embarrassment due to the condescending glares she received from the pack members. They had known her before, but after being with Sheila, the difference was clear. Nobody wanted Charlotte in Sheila’s place, and she knew it. Her fear was that if she told Alpha Nick about it, he would keep holding on to Sheila. This was what Alpha Nick wanted to prevent by advising Charlotte to stay low, but now, everything was ruined. He was lost for words to say as it would only lead to his revelation of the divorce. Sheila forced a smile. To handle this, it had to be to her advantage. It wasn’t her fault that Alpha Nick decided to bring Charlotte in when the divorce was not complete, just because they couldn’t stay away from each other. She wondered what was still preventing them from marking each other since they were already living together. “You misunderstand, Warrick,” Sheila was addressing the warrior who had just asked the unfillable question. From the look on the faces of the pack members present, they were all in agreement with Warrick, as the desperation for answers lined on their faces. “Before I explain it, give me a moment,” Sheila walked to Alpha Nick and spoke in a hushed tone, “If I take care of this for you, you should promise to be at the court tomorrow for us to finalize the divorce.” The rate at which Alpha Nick was suddenly taking an interest in her made her uncomfortable. She wanted to leave before he discovered anything. Alpha Nick thought he had a few more days to get information about her, but Sheila’s behavior was unexpected. She was the one who proposed the marriage, no doubts, but the rate at which she wanted to run away from him made him afraid. “Sheila…” “Your mate is with you, and your pack understands. For what other reason will it be delayed?” Sheila maintained the hushed tone, touching on a sensitive spot. As Alpha Nick thought through her words, they made sense to him. The reason for delaying the process was to give him time to explain things to his pack members, so if that was done, then there technically was no reason for Sheila to stay any longer. “You are right. You solved the problem faster than I imagined it to be. I will fulfill your wish to meet you there at 8 am.” Sheila smiled in satisfaction, but a dark emptiness filled her heart. Even after accepting that she already lost, it was still painful. However, she concealed everything perfectly as she addressed the pack members. “So, the Alpha’s mate is not the problem. The truth is, I have some urgent matters to take care of. I can’t tell for how long it’s going to take, so I can’t promise exactly when I will be back. I just hope that as you wait for me, you accord the Alpha’s mate with your utmost respect and due diligence.” Charlotte loved the last part of Sheila’s speech, but the next question from another pack member, Adelaide, caused her gaze to darken as she bit her lips in anger. “Luna Sheila, we know you won’t lie to us, but ever since you married the Alpha, we hardly saw him around. Now that his mate is back, he is always here. Isn’t it clear that you are leaving because of this? I am not in your shoes, but I feel that you haven’t been treated fairly.” “Yes! Yes! Yes!” The pack members chanted behind Adelaide. Everybody could not speak together at the same time, but they made sure to support whoever was bold enough to do so. Sheila’s heart warmed at the fact that, though she had thought otherwise in the beginning, the pack members actually had her back. Sheila’s authority would only be restored after she patched things up with her father. Not even her mother would be able to save her until that was done. “The bitch sent thugs after me again. She didn’t heed my warning, so I want to teach her a lesson. Next time, I will make sure her parents are in it.” Unlike Charlotte, Sheila would not only kill off her enemy. What pain would there be if she did so? It was better to target the family of her enemy, to see her alive but in grief. Goldie was upset and wanted to blow their cover to bring Sheila to justice. However, she couldn’t help but feel satisfaction hearing that Sheila was beginning to avenge herself. That singular act was enough for her. “That’s more like the Sheridan I know.” Sheila chuckled and ended the call. It was good to have someone who understood her quite well. In such situations, she didn’t have to repeat herself. Before she reached the hotel, she received a call from Goldie. “Done.” Taken aback, Sheila remarked, “That was faster than I thought.” It hadn’t been thirty minutes since they spoke, and action had already been taken. Sheila missed her old self and the authority she had as the Alpha King’s daughter. “You know how our warriors cannot be messed with. They have allies close to their pack, so it wasn’t hard to set the fire and run away as if it was an accident.” “Good planning. I’m coming up,” Sheila said after pulling over at the hotel’s parking lot. The next day, Goldie insisted on going with Sheila to the Dark Moon pack, but she refused. 1/4 Emergency calls only O Chapter 33 D83%) 11.10 “I can take care of myself. I am not so weak. Besides, it’s difficult to pretend when I’m divorced. Alpha Nick is being suspicious.” Thus, Goldie’s presence might blow her cover since she wouldn’t be able to lie about it when asked. Sheila was conflicted. It was only after the divorce that Alpha Nick treated her like a person. Before then, she was just an object passing time in his packhouse. Forcing a smile for the sake of the pack members, she walked in. Charlotte could not hold her gaze with her swollen eyes. Yesterday, she received a call that her parents‘ house in the pack had been burned down. They were now squatting with neighbors as their extravagant lifestyle could not leave them with enough money to build a new house. That would terribly drain their finances, as was the reason why financial support was needed from Charlotte. Though Alpha Nick had promised to help, it would take at least three months for the house to be completed: Her parents were ashamed to be residing with lower–ranking pack members and hence the pressure. At the Bane’s pack, the packhouse only hosted the Alpha and Beta’s family with visiting Alphas. So there was no room for them to take in the gamma’s family.. As Alpha Nick was saying something to Beta Dustin, Sheila took advantage of the distraction, whispering in Charlotte’s ear, “I hope you liked the parcel I sent to your parents‘ home? Next time, I will make sure they are in the house.” Unlike Charlotte, Sheila was not afraid to admit it. Charlotte’s teeth gritted and her face turned ashen. Throughout the years, Sheila had only given empty threats and never fought back, but this time, she was in for a shock. “What is the matter?” Alpha Nick asked Charlotte, seeing her paler than before. There was also a grave fear in her eyes which disturbed him. Sheila responded in her stead, her expression blooming with innocence. “She looks pale. I was wondering if there is anything wrong with her.” Charlotte, upon seeing this side of Sheila for the first time, was speechless. Alpha Nick’s gaze was warm as he explained things gently to Sheila. 2/4 Emergency calls only F Chapter 33  083% 11:10 “Did you not hear that there was a fire at her father’s house in the pack? It’s strange how her family’s house caught fire.” Sheila was about to say something, but the pack members were already all over her. “Luna Sheila, I missed you so much.” Anita hugged her and spoke with tears in her eyes. Pulling away, she stared deeply at Sheila. “Luna, you’ve changed a lot. You look so stunning.” Anita was Sheila’s favorite because of how fragile she was. Extra time was devoted to turning her into what she currently is, bringing them closer than the rest of the team. “On the contrary, you look diminished. Did somebody bully you? You don’t have to hide it from me.” Sheila was disturbed to see her like that. It had only been a few days, and Anita was already looking too thin.
