Chapter 52  Charlotte had changed into a see–through lingerie before Alpha Nick brought the food to her room. Since it was his former room, he set it on the table in front of the couch. Charlotte was sitting on the bed, her stomach groaning from hunger. “Nick, thank you for bringing the food.” She rose up and went to sit beside Alpha Nick. Athena was happy to learn that he had tried reaching Sheila after the divorce, only to get blocked. “She must have blocked your number, and trust me, only a selected few.like me can reach her. Even if you get a new number, you still won’t reach her.”  It was just a fabrication to pique Alpha Nick’s interest, as Athena was not sure of it, but the look in Alpha Nick’s eyes was priceless. Seeing Athena all smiles and not answering the phone, he began to doubt that Sheila was the one calling. Used to being doted on by her seven brothers, Sheila would have been extremely excited if her father had equally accepted her. Though it was expected, her longingness made her anxious. “Why did you change your hair color?” Arnold noticed and asked her. One could not tell by his facial expressions whether or not he liked her new look. Everything that happened in the Dark Moon pack was now in her past. This was her future. As she thought over her words, she realized that her father’s position would not allow her to avoid Alpha Nick as she wished. Atlas and Jace, her second and sixth brothers, Atlas, being Arnold’s beta and Jace being in charge of the pack protocols, came out of the pack house due to all the noise. Information had not yet reached them that Sheila had returned as everybody was engrossed in trying to hug her. “I thought my ears were deceiving me when I heard Sheridan’s name. Sherry, did you come to visit?” Atlas asked. It was funny how her brothers, who always seemed cold, were all exuding the excitement of little children, all because their kid sister had returned. “You should stop behaving like kids,” Sheila’s mother, Josephine, appeared at the entrance of the pack house with their father, Alpha King Gandolf Warner, by her side. The pack members around bowed respectfully at the appearance of the Alpha King. His position was lifelong, so Arnold’s authority was only limited to the Moon Shine pack. Concerning the neighboring packs and those far and near, it was Gandolf in charge and well respected by all Alphas. He had a scowl on his face, but before he could say anything, Henry and Iggy, the fourth and fifth brothers, in charge of conflict resolution and training of pack members, ran from behind him to hug their kid sister. Sheila could not help shedding tears of joy. Looking at her father with tear–filled eyes, she recited the words she had been carefully practicing ever since her planned return. “Papa, I’m very sorry. I promise to obey you this time.” These were the exact words the Alpha King was waiting to hear. “Are you saying that you are ready to stay and help manage the pack?” His gaze was serious. Everybody was interested in this part since like her father, they all wanted her to stay. At this moment, Goldie had joined her family. Sheila didn’t need her the moment they arrived at their home pack. Goldie had heard from Sheila that she was not going to return to Alpha Nick, but with her parents and some of the pack members gathered around, her interest was piqued at Sheila’s response.  “Yes, Papa. I’m not leaving anymore.” The elderly man’s hands stretched out as he pulled her into his warm embrace. Sheila’s joyful tears wet his clothes, and the embrace lasted for quite long. When he pulled away, he announced, “my daughter was gone, but now she is back. We shall be having a party for her in seven days.”

Chapter 43  €087% 11 12 The call ended abruptly as Charlotte swallowed tightly. “I was talking to my dad. He complained about how uncomfortable it is to live with neighbors,” she lied smoothly. Alpha Nick was not suspicious of anything because he had not heard her. All he saw was her speaking on the phone. The problem with her parents disturbed him greatly, and he made the necessary arrangements. “I already told Dustin to handle it.” His demeanor and response were confirmations that he hadn’t heard what she was saying on the phone. The reason Beta Dustin was also not in the pack was because he was taking care of the house Nick ordered him to build for Charlotte’s parents. for Beta Dustin was very happy that Sheila had left the pack and was eager to make Charlotte happy and comfortable. He didn’t mind staying at the Bane’s Pack until it was completed since Alpha Nick was around. Due to the gala awards, he might have to return for a short while to handle the pack since Alpha Nick was attending with Charlotte. “Thank you very much.” Charlotte hugged Alpha Nick. He didn’t hug her back, but neither did he push her away. His feelings towards her were so strange that it made him feel guilty. He was no longer obsessed with her like before, and the only thing holding them together was the uncompleted bond. He couldn’t bring himself to mark and mate with his mate, and that disturbed him greatly. Also, he couldn’t seek Titan’s help as he had already made it clear how repulsed he was with Charlotte. Alpha Nick felt guilty, wondering if it was because of the kidnapping. Charlotte had said she couldn’t remember much about it except when she escaped after the people died. She was rescued by Beta Dustin before she could pass out from fatigue. “I’m sorry for what happened earlier, but the maids said they have finished, so I will shower and rest first,” Alpha Nick smiled a little and said. One advantage of being an Alpha was his sensitivity, and he feared what had been done to Charlotte to make her so repulsive. No matter what, he was determined to stand by her, but never would he mate with her until his wolf got over the repulsion. “It’s too early. Just rest.” Charlotte bit her lips thoughtfully. With Tom on her neck, it would be good to get him the money very fast to keep him busy in his company. That way, he would not disturb her or come to the Dark Moon pack, so how could she leave things to chance? “Nick, do you hate me? You were the one who wanted us to mate before. I’m sorry that I refused then. I was stupid and overly obsessed with how things were done in New York City.” She approached Alpha Nick, holding his two hands playfully. There were so many things he couldn’t understand at the moment. It was better to not complicate them, not when he still felt like he owed Sheila. “Charlotte, you are mine. There is no need to rush things. You have been away for a while and even said you lost some memory due to torture.” Charlotte’s resolve broke at the reminder as Alpha Nick went on to explain. “It will be good to remember what those thugs did to you for us to find a suitable solution. Don’t you think it would be better to think about how to regain those memories than rather moving on and letting it come back to haunt you?” He asked with care–filled eyes.
