She was behind Alpha Nick, so he heard her even though her voice was not loud. There was calm music playing in the background. Charlotte heard it too and began to sweat. Not knowing who the owner of Sherry’s Couture was, she had lied to Alpha Nick that she owned it because he wasn’t interested in female fashion. Her brows creased with sweat, and she nervously dabbed it with a tissue. “I’m more interested in knowing who she is. Ordinary people do not shop at Sherry’s Glamour, and she’s not only wearing a dress made by Sherry but also wearing their most expensive glamorous diamond,” Alpha Nick tore his eyes away from Sheila and glanced at Charlotte. “I see your products are making waves. You should have entered the contest, but I understand.” He thought Sheila was wearing Charlotte’s design, as he also couldn’t mention the kidnapping because of the hint Patrick dropped. Strange things were happening around his mate, and he wanted to uncover them all. was nervous as she looked at the contestants. Why did the woman in the red dress look so familiar yet Charlotte w so distant? Learning from her mistake of being in a one–sided love, she didn’t want to date anyone anymore. If she found her mate, then fine, but if not, then her attention would only belong to business. “I’m jealous,” Alpha Ansaldo pouted. If he had a woman like Sheila, he was ready to forget all about his mate. “Pay attention to the MC. The bidding is about to begin,” Sheila was anxious and reminded him. Her welcome party was going to follow in a few days, and she wouldn’t be able to hide anymore, but for now, she needed to do what was necessary. “Are you interested in anything on the list? I can get it for you,” Alpha Ansaldo said seriously. He wanted to get her something she would like. Chapter 55  081% 11.15 Charlotte was coughing hysterically, and Alpha Nick asked worriedly, “What is the problem?” Her harsh coughs had attracted extra attention. There was no response, but Charlotte’s eyes were teary as she continued to cough. Alpha Nick waited patiently for her to stop coughing and start explaining certain things. Patrick was equally worried. “I think we should get her some water,” he said, beckoning to one of the waiters. The water was brought as Patrick said, “I have to take my position. I will be helping the judges today.” He pulled his wife away as they made their way to where the judges sat. It was evident that Alpha Nick had no idea Charlotte had eloped. Also, she didn’t want Patrick to spill the–beans.  “Alright, we shall discuss more after the event,” Alpha Nick spoke with a morose expression. He was indeed going to dig further into the matter, but as he was there for business, that was his focus at the moment. As Charlotte drank the water with relief, knowing that Patrick had left, Alpha Nick’s attention was divided. He couldn’t forget the seriousness attached to Patrick’s words that Charlotte had willingly entered a car on their wedding day. Then again, his mother’s warnings, including Sheila’s words when confronted with Charlotte. What were they seeing that he couldn’t see? Was he blind? Whatever it was, he was ready to see it too. There were two MCs hosting the show, a male and a female. Tom arrived but kept his distance from Alpha Nick due to all that happened in the pack house. He might just find a way to get the truth out of Charlotte after the gala awards. The refreshment time was the same as mingling time.. Everyone had taken their positions, and Alpha Nick looked around as if he was looking for someone. Yes, he was looking for Sheila, but she was indeed not in attendance as she said to Alpha Nick. The round table was large enough for twenty people. Those around the table were exchanging pleasantries, but Alpha Nick was cold. Too many things battled for dominance in his mind. Charlotte received a message on the phone. ‘Meet me at the ladies‘ washroom, or I will announce what we did. The message might be from a strange number, but the tone was enough confirmation that it was Tom. Charlotte smiled bitterly, not knowing if she regretted falling in love with Tom. He was now trying to blackmail her for something they both did. “Nick, I want to use the ladies‘ room. I don’t want to miss out when the program starts.” Alpha Nick bobbed his head as he had seen Tom among the guests. Since Patrick’s half revelation, a part of him dimmed towards her. Since he had someone watch Charlotte’s every move, he didn’t need to stalk her to cause a  scene. Chapter 54  081% #11-14 “Alpha Ansaldo?” Sheila couldn’t believe her misfortune tonight. Out of all the men who could fake being her date, Goldie had to bring Alpha Ansaldo, the Alpha who had even had a brush with Alpha Nick because of her. “Sheila?” Alpha Ansaldo was equally shocked to see her. He accepted the offer because he was also looking for a fake date while waiting for his mate. The sounds of violins were heard, as well as other musical instruments. Alpha Nick arrived with Charlotte, at the same time some Alphas arrived with their Lunas. They got talking. “Alpha Nick, are you here for business or to observe?” One of the organizers casually asked. Since the event had not officially begun, everyone used the opportunity to make business acquaintances.

Chapter 53  “Tom, what were you doing behind the door?” Tom was furious, but his anger was directed at Charlotte. Even though Alpha Nick had refused to mate with her, she kept pursuing him. How shameless could she be after all the promises they had made to each other and his warnings to her? Pain pierced Tom’s heart, but he forced a smile. “Nick, I was coming to get you.” Alpha Nick was not pleased with the intrusion of his privacy and warned Tom seriously. “When I’m with my mate, don’t disturb me next time.” His words and actions were clear signs of his love for her, but Charlotte still couldn’t understand his reason for not wanting to mate with her. Alpha Nick woke up very early to take care of a few things at the office before joining Charlotte for breakfast. He only opened her door after he woke up. It was the most awkward breakfast they ever had since Tom was there. Before midday, they were ready to leave with a few bodyguards.
