Chapter 83 Sheridan Warner sent us. She said to not kill anyone,” the rogue leader said seriously, weak and needing sleep.  That is a lie. Sheila would never do a thing like that,” Alpha Nick retorted, his gaze growing dark as he was ready to tear the rogue leader into pieces for creating such a lie.  Somebody must have paid him to incriminate Sheila. She was Alpha Nick’s shining light and would never harbor such ill intentions. The rogue leader was speechless.  He already knew that he wouldn’t stand a chance attacking the Dark Moon Pack but the person had promised him that as soon as her name was mentioned, Alpha Nick would let him go. He was also paid handsomely so why reject such a great offer from a kind woman he never saw before?  All their communications were on phone as a man whose relationship with Sheridan he did not know, brought the deal to his doorstep.  “I don’t know why but you can call her. She sent us,” the rogue leader said with determination. Nobody, being interrogated after a failed attack would be so bold right? There must be an aorta of truth in what he was saying.  Alpha Nick’s heart sank. He didn’t believe it but Sheridan was just a phone call away. He quickly dialed her number but it was switched off. Though certain pieces of the puzzle led to Sheridan like how she was ready to do his bidding.  He thought she had let the past go when she responded to his kisses and almost slept with him in her right sense but who knew it was all a trick?  The way she knew it was a rogue attack without him telling her? Her calmness and unwillingness to accompany him and the fact that nobody from the Dark Moon pack died during the war were all too much of a coincidence.  In spite of all these signs, Alpha Nick would not believe it until he heard it from Sheridan’s lips. That was the thing about him. When he loved Charlotte, he would believe and port her at all times.  It was the same with Sheila. Now that he loved her, he was ready and willing to listen and understand her reason for doing something like this. Never would he allow the thought that Sheridan had turned evil to revenge against him to enter his mind. Never.  Even if it was so, he was willing to forgive her. It might just be her way of venting her anger and frustration. Alpha Nick hoped it would cool her off. It was just saddening that  Chapter 83  a lot of rogues‘ lives were lost but come to think of it, they deserved it anyway.  ரா  They were just a lawless bunch. “Keep him locked up. I’m going to the Moon shine pack.  “If it’s really her, does it mean that she hates us?” Beta Dustin said with a sorrowful expression. Just like his Alpha, he could not blame Sheridan. People vent their anger in numerous ways and the fact that she instructed the rogue leader to not kill any of the pack members meant she still had conscience. She still cared.  It was just disappointing how he promised Bree that Sheila would be back soon. Bree was so excited to finally get the opportunity to apologize, that she had not given a wink to her eyes, waiting to be the first to welcome Sheila.  Due to the attack, she was tired and finally gave in to sleep but how would Dustin explain it when she woke up? It was also clear that they won the war so easily because the rogues were not there to cause chaos.  “Maybe, somebody is impersonating her but it can never be her,” Alpha Nick said with determination. Aside from Bree, Dustin and Nick, not even Athena and Tedmond knew that Alpha Nick was chasing back his ex- contract Luna. He wanted it to be a surprise for Athena.  “Tom and Charlotte are the only ones severely injured in the fight. Are you still sure she isn’t the one? I’m not saying she’s a bad person but I feel she has a good reason for all she’s doing,” Beta Dustin explained.  Nobody died so he still saw Sheila as the kind hearted woman and fierce fighter who once lived in this pack with them. Alpha Nick was never the same. With Sheila, he felt at peace but being away from her, all he felt was turmoil.  “Let’s put the pack in order. When everything settles, I will go find her.”  […]

Chapter 82  Alpha Nick never wanted any woman the way he wanted her, both in body and soul. “I want to make love to you.”  Sheridan had a headache, fearing becoming his mistress since she did not want to go back to him, but she had a plan. “What happened was a mistake, and it shouldn’t happen again.”  “But you  are the only person I’ve done it with. I won’t be able to do it with anyone else. Even if you don’t want me, you are the only one I would ever want. I would wait until you make up your mind,” Alpha Nick said seriously. She was a woman deserving of all his time and efforts, but Sheridan was thinking otherwise. “You will be wasting your time.” Alpha Nick saw how hard it was for her to hold his gaze when she spoke, meaning she still felt something for him. “If you really don’t feel anything for me, then grant me my wish, and I will never bother you again,” he stated, watching her keenly. “Is it a goodbye sex?” Sheridan asked, thinking about a way out of the situation since she did not want to get intimate with him again. That would only cause an unwanted entanglement. Alpha Nick, on the other hand, was determined, saying, “I don’t care what you call it, but we are both very free. We aren’t attached to anyone and you are the one refusing to marry me for real this time.” “You…” She wanted to remind him that there was still a bond between him and Charlotte when he cut in. “There’s nothing between me and Charlotte,” his lips swallowed hers instantly, not giving her the chance to resist him. His hands pressed the back of her head to prevent her from breaking from the kiss. It was so warm and fierce, Sheridan melted in his arms, moaning into his mouth. Since they were in the open, Alpha Nick broke from the kiss. Rising to his feet, he bent over and lifted her into his arms. Sheridan pressed something on her wristwatch, before wrapping her arms securely around this neck. It was a moment of bliss which she knew was not meant to last. As soon as they reached the bedroom, he dropped her gently on the bed. What a wrong timing? Those rogues have not seen the better side of him yet. “Do what you have to do. I’m on my way,” his solemn voice sounded at his side of the line as he ended the call and turned to Sheridan. “I’m sorry. Our pack is under attack.” The worried and helpless look in his eyes made Sheridan slightly guilty. “We can make it another time but I’m sorry I can’t come with you.” She lifted herself to a sitting position, adding, “however, you know where to find me.” Being a skillful warrior, Alpha Nick was slightly disappointed that she did not opt to come with him. However, he also could not shed his responsibility of leaving her at the resort, though he already paid for everything due to the way she had paid for the private room he booked for their lunch some time ago. Chapter 81  “We shouldn’t have done that,” Sheridan said seriously after breaking from the kiss, guilt growing in her heart. The man before her was so different, but she still could not get over the one from her past. In those days, he would not even come close or touch her, but now he was kissing her without any intention of stopping. It was too much for her, and sometimes she felt like the substitute bride she was to him. Alpha Nick would have never been interested in her if he had not seen what Charlotte did. “You are the one who asked for the divorce, remember? You can’t eat your cake and have it back, Alpha Nick. You reap what you sow.” Sheridan could not take it anymore. It hurt badly that when she tried to put everything behind her, all she remembered was the pain he caused her. Alpha Nick was slightly upset being addressed by his title. He knew that she was drawing boundaries if she used it. “Stop calling me Alpha. I am not your Alpha.” There was a slight irritation in his tone, but Sheridan refrained from trying to comfort him. Chapter 80  “Alpha Nick, you are making me feel like a mistress,” Sheridan complained in honesty, unable to contain the mixed feelings swimming through her heart. The view before her was breathtaking, and if not for Chaya’s meal, she would have emptied the plate. The dessert was equally mouthwatering, but who knew that Alpha Nick would order some fine wine as well? Sheridan could not believe that she was only enjoying his kindness after the divorce.  If he had not threatened to come and see the Alpha King, she would not have agreed to come, as she began to feel things she never wanted to feel for any man again. Alpha Nick’s gaze dulled, not liking that term on her lips. He had brought her to a coded resort to relax, and it was about a three–hour drive from her pack: This was something he never did for any woman, not even Charlotte, though he had planned it for their honeymoon when she chose a human wedding. The thought of it caused intense pain in his heart. It was obvious that Sheridan loved the place, but her words disturbed him greatly. “Why do you think so?” He asked seriously as they took in the mountain view from where they dined in the open space. It was so serene with the stars in the sky as Alpha Nick rented the whole place for just the two of them. “You have your mate at home, but you are out here with me. It reminds me of when you left me at home and went looking for Charlotte. When you found her, you hardly returned home anymore.” Pain flashed in Sheridan’s eyes as she spoke, reminding her of when she craved his attention so much but only got his absence and indifference. Why did life have to be so unfair? She just wanted to move on, and yet, he was back to mess up her life again. “I’m so sorry, but the only reason why I’m keeping her at this moment is because of you,” he revealed. Sheridan was slightly taken aback. Then she stared at him strangely as he continued to speak. “If you’d come with me right now, I would reject her right in front of you.” This is what Sheridan wanted when they were married, but after everything that happened, how could she fight the mate bond? “We are not mates, and there is nothing between us. It’s not right for you to reject your destined mate,” she advised. Alpha Nick sighed frustratedly, combing his hair with his fingers but still maintaining an elegant look. “I would prefer that we don’t mention her, but since you brought her up again, I will be completely honest with you. My reason for not rejecting her is the fact that it would be too easy on her.” Sheila was a bit lost, not hiding it as Alpha Nick continued to explain it to her. “She would have gone back to her normal life with Tom after destroying mine. I mean, I already destroyed Tom’s business, but it’s still not enough.” Sheridan was even more confused. She knew that Charlotte never loved Alpha Nick. It was the reason why she was bold enough to propose to him, but what she did not expect was Charlotte’s unexpected return, and she’d be lying if she said she was not interested in knowing why it so happened. Alpha Nick continued to speak without being asked. “It would have been fine if she had told me from the first time we discovered the bond that she was in love with somebody else. I wouldn’t have taken offense, and we would have just rejected each other, but what did she do?”  211 

“Sheila, can we meet?”  Sheila was slightly nervous at the other end of the line. She was afraid of betraying herself if she saw Alpha Nick again. The man who used to be cold and aloof was suddenly giving her so much attention, which was scary. “What for?” she asked in annoyance. Alpha Nick felt relieved that she did not outright refuse and hang up on him. He owed her so much, and she happened to be the only woman he ever slept with. He might be selfish, but he wasn’t giving up on her. “Please, I just want to talk.” “Nick…” Sheridan was about to refuse, but Alpha Nick cut in,  “Please Sheila. I’m begging you. If you refuse, I will come and stay at your pack. Dustin is willing to take care of my pack in my absence. I want to see your dad, and I don’t care if your seven brothers beat me up. You leave me no choice,” he said with determination. Alpha Nick was ready to shoulder all the blame if he met with Sheila’s father. Sheridan was certain that her father would just punish Alpha Nick a little before pushing her into his arms. “What is the location?” she asked, and Alpha Nick was a little relieved. Her acceptance to meet him did not mean she accepted him back, but it was still a stepping stone. “I will pick you up at 5 pm,” he said softly. Sheridan almost rolled her eyes. It felt strange that he spoke to her in this tone. “No. Let me meet you halfway,” she responded, not wanting him near the pack to raise suspicion. Alpha Nick refused, determined to meet her parents to explain everything to them. He wanted Sheila back and would do anything for her to return to him. “I am the one asking for the date, so please get ready. I’m coming over.” The call ended soon after, with Sheridan releasing a frustrated sigh. Sheridan could not bear to waste time with them when Alpha Nick was on the way. She ate half of the dish before pushing the platter away. “Just let the baby be born first.” Arnold picked up the platter and, seeing she left so much meat, began to devour them 2/4 

Chapter 78  Sheridan had no idea of her father’s reason for asking, but one thing was certain. She was an adult and could not be afraid of their judgment because of one mistake: trusting the wrong person. If she had gone to the gala awards alone, this would not have happened. It was because she was bent on showing Alpha Nick that she had moved on or the longing to have a partner beside her. Well, it was a bitter lesson, but she still got a treasure in return, for which reason she could not bring herself to regret her decisions. Nodding her head to her father’s question, her parents lost hope. “I don’t think that whoever drugged you has paid enough. Arnold must teach him a lesson,” the Alpha King declared, about to mindlink his first son, the acting Alpha when Goldie stopped him with a revelation. “Uncle, the man she slept with is Alpha Nick. His mate is cheating on him with my mate. I rejected him, and he accepted my rejection.” The revelation brought silence to the office, as everyone was lost in thought. The parents did not want Sheila to be a single mother, so this revelation brought hope as the Alpha King asked seriously, “Does Alpha Nick know about this?”  “No, but he hasn’t marked her for reasons we don’t know,” Goldie answered, when Sheridan countered, “He knows.” “He does?” Goldie asked, shocked. It was understandable that Sheridan’s schedules, just like hers, had been busy, but they still had time for small girl talks. Why was she kept in the dark? Sheridan explained, “He told me at the welcome party and was begging me to come back to him. When I left, I secretly married him for six months. But it was a contract for me to play the role of his Luna when his mate eloped with another man. When the six months ended, we parted ways when his mate showed up, faking that she was kidnapped.” She summarized everything, hoping that no one would ask any more questions, but there were still some loose ends to the story that needed tying. 1/3  Dreame  Chapter 78  It’s obvious he knows his mate is cheating on him. What more reason could he not mark and announce her to the pack?” The Alpha King analyzed. Nobody would support a cheating mate, and for that matter, he felt that Sheridan stood a better chance with Alpha Nick. They were married by contract, and Sheridan never got pregnant, meaning they never consummated their fake marriage until after the divorce, Sadly, Sheridan had a mind of her own. “I don’t want to go back to him. I made it clear when we signed the divorce papers. This child is now mine alone.”  Her father disagreed. Alpha Nick was one of the strongest and most powerful Alphas. He would not neglect his child even if it was accidentally conceived, “If it’s his child, then you can’t hide it from him. He would know as soon as the pregnancy begins to show. Sherry, why don’t you let us punish him, and then you go back to him. He needs to take responsibility for the child.” Knowing his daughter, he felt strongly that Alpha Nick must have done something to make her not want to go back to him. But with him having a cheating mate, the Alpha King could not allow his only daughter to be a single mother. Chapter 76  Alpha Nick was equally lost in thought. Sheila was now beyond their reach, but he also knew that she had a weakness. It might be a selfish move, but Alpha Nick was determined to capitalize on it. “I’m trying, but it’s not easy. I won’t give up anyway.” “But what if she disappears again?” Beta Dustin asked worriedly. He hadn’t had the chance to apologize to Sheila and was greatly E worried about it, but Alpha Nick’s response awakened his hope. “I already left my bodyguards there to be watching and reporting her movements to me. I lost her before, and I won’t make the mistake of losing her again. I have to know where she is at every point in time. That is until I manage to get her back to this pack. I would find a day to meet with the Alpha King concerning her,” Alpha Nick revealed seriously when another scream was heard from Charlotte’s room.
