Chapter 617 Lewis helped Kevan pull out a chair, addressing him politely as “Mr. Rogers.” Kevan thanked him with a smile. Once they were both seated, Gary spoke. “Our ship will arrive at port tomorrow.” The ship he spoke of was the one that helped Cody transport contraband things–the one that they had called back at the last minute. Gary had used a lot of effort to catch the mole. He did not subject him to private justice nor did he hand the guy over to the police. He even absolved any form of punishment that could have occurred. He only had one request–to continue working with Cody and pretend that nothing had happened. They changed the cargo that was meant to be smuggled into Caldor as flour–smuggling four was not considered a major crime, Besides. they had even declared the flour and other cargo to customs. Although Cody could not be sentenced with just this, he had paid in full for that batch of cargo. With this happening, tens of millions of dollars were gone to waste. If this deficiency could not be made up for, the public funds he moved out could not be covered up in time, so Cody getting sent to prison was going to happen sooner or later. “I hear your two uncles have been arrested. Is that related to this?” Gary frowned, a hint of worry in his face. Even if he did not think Kevan would do something like spooking their enemies, sill what it “No.” Kevan’s answer gave Gary relie “My two uncles were arrested because they were exploiting minors.” This news was in headlines not long ago, inciting debate among hundreds of millions of people, and it even sparked a wave of criticism of the current laws that were implemented. Gary was probably not paying attention to Caldorian news, which explained why he did not know. “Exploiting minors? Gary’s eyes widened with shock as if he thought this preposterous. The truth was, when Kevan heard about it for the first time, the shock he fell was similar to what Gary felt now. Kevan always knew that his two uncles‘ private lives were very promiscuous and that they were second to none to Cody in this. He had always let them be regardless of what he heard about them. After all one could not have broken the law when it was consensual on all sides. Moreover, moral condemnation meant nothing to them. He just never expected them to have no bottom line at all. “Yes.” Kevan’s voice became deeper.  “Did they really do that sort of thing, or did you Gary studied him, his sharp gaze rather scorching. – “They really did it,” Kevan answered truthfully. But he definitely helped to get it exposed, All this happened due to a picture. To prevent Lana from doing anything that would harm Larissa, Kevan sent someone to keep an eye on her. He knew that she went back to the Seymours for help, and knew that Miqeila had taken her away, But Migella did not take Lana home. Having depended on Xavier for so long, Migella established a small modeling company. Although it was called a “modeling” company, was really an establishment of entertainment. Migella was the madame, relying on Xavier’s connections to send young models to the bosses of big companies and get hefty compensation from it in the process. She led her young models to roam all sorts of high–end clubs and had a bit of popularity in the industry. There were even company bosses who tried to flatter Kevan by helping him “personalize” services from Migella’s company–of course. Kevan rejected such offers. and the business deals fell apart as a result. Migrila took Lana away because she had the idea of sending her to receive clients.

Chapter 616 Kevan didn’t spend much time at the hospital, Besides meeting Larissa, he had an important task to accomplish during his visit to Aldovia -to exchange information and strategize with Gary. When Gary’s meeting ended, Lewis drove Kevan to Blue Star Shipping’s headquarters which was located in the heart of Westonia. Westonia was one of the most developed cities in Aldovia, and many internationally renowned companies had their headquarters established here.  As they drove away from the hospital, they were surrounded by lowering buildings, which lined up on both sides of the road, blocking the blue sky. Even the sunlight couldn’t reach the pedestrians directly. “The pace of life here is too fast. I’m not a fan,” Lewis chatted with Kevan while driving. Over the past few months, they had maintained constant communication, and their relationship had grown closer than before. Kevan looked out the window, observing the hurried white–collar workers holding their coffee cups, and didn’t find this scene unfamiliar. Hence, he replied, “Well, you’ll see a similarly fast pace at CBD in Bartham too.” “Things are better back home.” Lewis sighed and continued. “Racial discrimination is quite an issue here. Just look at Gary; he holds a high position. And yet, occasionally, he still faces condescension and sabotage from those locals.” Kevan had always focused on his career back home. Although Microworks Corporallon collaborated with some foreign companies, its standing in the high–tech industry had never been underestimated, so he couldn’t fully relate to Gary’s experience. “When Gary and Lari first acknowledged each other, he thought about gradually moving the company’s operations back home to be with her. But later, he realized that there are too many safety concems there. So, now he’s going through the immigration process for her, so she can stay in Aldovia permanently.” Lewis glanced at Kevan through the rearview mirror and said meaningfully, “Your path ahead is filled with challenges. Be prepared for a long battle.”  From the moment he found out that Gary was Larissa’s biological father, Kevan anticipated the multitude of difficulties that would come his way. “I’m addressing those safety concems one by one. I just need one more month.” Kevan replied. The Seymour family had fallen, his two uncles were entangled in legal troubles, and their only patron, Cody, was about to be unable to protect them anymore. Just one more month and no one would be able to threaten Larissa’s safety ever again. “The things you’re telling me won’t change anything. Save them for when you talk to Gary later. Although Lewis didn’t explicitly state his stance, he’d already sided with Kevan in his heart. Unlike Gary, Lewis was not the jealous type. He could see how good Kevan was to  Larissa, and he hoped that Larissa would find a good partner Kevan pursed his lips, feeling nervous at the thought of meeting Gary soon. He tightened his grip on his hands, and his palms even started to sweat.  Blue Star Shipping occupied the top two floors of the Blue Star Tower, while the other sevenly floors were leased to other companies. Kevan had seen pictures of this towering building from a private delective before, but when he saw it in person, it felt even more grand and impressive. Lewis took him directly to the top floor, where Gary was wailing in his office, Gary’s office wasn’t as spacious as Kevan’s, but it boasted a floor–to–ceiling window that let in the bright sunlight. Even in the harsh winter, it brought in some warmth. Gary still didn’t have a good attitude when taking to Kevan “Have a seal” Gary ordered, as he remained seated in his chair, without bothering to stand up as a symbol of welcome. However, Kevan didn’t mind, he had already grown accustomed to Gary’s behavior.

Chapter 612  The news of Yvette’s hospitalization due to her injures garnered significant media attention. The reporters went all out, leaving no stone unturned in their quest to uncover the truth. So, when the news spread that Xavier was the culprit, the media exploded with overwhelming coverage. Numerous social media accounts jumped on the bandwagen, dishing out “insider informalion.” They used the statements from other Cosmic Studios employees to fabricate reasons for Xavier’s attack on Yvetle. Some even went so far as to create detailed recreations of the incident, turning this sensational news that spanned society and entertainment into a top headline. Xavier naturally couldn’t evade the consequences of the law, with charges of “intentional assault” and “kidnapping” being slapped against him. Furthermore, even though lan tumed himself in leading to a reduced sentence, he still laced two to three years behind bars. At this moment, Cosmic Studios found itself in utter disarray, with no one at the helm. Some employees had already started sending out job applications to other similar companies, and the more proactive ones had even secured new positions through successful interviews. Cosmic Stud as was falling apart, and the future of “Migration to Mars” became a major concern for everyone. Although this project was still in the planning stage, most of the funding had already been secured, and some roles had been cast with contracts signed. The core creative team was almost complete, and il cther film companies were interested in taking over the IP from Xavier, there was still a possibility for the movie to move forward. However, just as everyone was cinsely eyeing the project Fantasy Uhopla released a statement declaring the premature termination of their collaboration with Cosmic Studios. Additionally, Stephen del Rio, who was supposed to direct the film, announced that he would no longer be involved in the project on his social media account  Both Fantasy Utopia and Stephen del Rio were vital to the movie’s potential success at the box office. With their departure. “Migration to Mars” went from being a highly sought–after gem to an unwanted piece of trash that no are wanted to touch. So even if Xavier were willing to sell the IP, no one was willing to take over it. As the move fell through, the biggest losers were the investors who had rushed to get involved earlier. They had invested a substantial amount of money, much of which Xavier nad squandered. To recover their losses, they had no choice but to hire lawyers and sue in hopes of auctioning off Xavier’s properties through the court to claim compensation. Xavier’s properties were gradually sealed with official stamos. In just one week, Lana was forced to move several times. The court officials would show up and ruthlessly evict her every time she was still sorting out her belongings. When the last property was sealed, she stood outside with her luggage, and her fear peaked. Her father was now a criminal in prison, and her mother was lying in the hospital lighting for her life. As for hersell, she was divorced, broke and had no place to call home. She had no idea where to go next.  In her most desperate moment, she decided to seek refuge at her grandparents home. Although the Seymour family had been wealthy for generations, it was only during Xavier’s time that they secured their position in high society, largely due to Xavier’s achievements. The Seymour family had never been known for its large size, and Lana’s grandparents only had two children, Xavier and her aunt. Being the successful child Xavier naturally received all of his parents‘ love. Despite their disapproval of Yvelle, they had always doled on Lana because of her association with Xavier.. However, Lana never expected to be stopped by the housekeeper right at the front gate.
