Chapter 718  On Friday, Larissa slept in for the first time since returning to Aldovia. It’s not because she wanted to. After crying and drinking the whole night, she didn’t realize it when her alarm went off in the morning. It was only when her stomach growled with hunger that she woke up. Larissa grabbed her phone and looked at the time. It was already noon  She saw a few missed calls from Lewis on her phone screen. He hadn’t received a reply from Larissa after a long time. So, he had sent a message saying, “I go over to your house at 2pm.” Larissa quickly got out of bed, every last bit of her drowsiness gone. Lewis arrived at Larissa’s house on time. At that moment, Larissa was trying to depull her swollen eyes. Lewis stared at her face for a long time. He asked cautiously, while scrutinizing the expression on her face, “What happened to you?” Pressing the ice against her puffy eyes, Larissa chuckled and dismissed him with a wave of her hand. “It’s nothing. Last night Wendy asked me to watch a tear–jerker movie with her last night. We cried all night long.” “I see.” Lewis said, not doubting Larissa’s words. “Then, can we leave now? Otherwise, we can go a little later,” he continued with concern. “It’s alright!” Larissa ran back to her room. She took out a pair of sunglasses and put them on to hide her pully eyes. When she emerged, she put on her shoes and said. “I’m ready, let’s go Larissa and Lewis left together in a hurry. The place they went to was the most famous luxury goods mall in Westonia. When Larissa was working in Westonia for a few years, she occasionally brought clients to that mall for shopping. Standing at the entrance, she hesitated and fidgeted with her gray down coat. “Can I enter dressed like this?” Larissa thought that what Gary meant by choosing an evening gown was similar to when Kevan brought her to V. Style, which was a more private and secluded location. Even if she was dressed simply, only Lewis would see her. Who would have expected “You’re fine. Let’s enter together.” Lewis smiled and extended his arm. The mall was quite deserted. There weren’t any personal shoppers rushing around with their luggage bags in tow. Puzzled, Larissa was suddenly startled by a loud greeting in unison. “Welcome!” The sound came from the entrance of a store nearest to them. With impeccable smiles on their laces, shop assistants dressed in uniform were lined up in two rows on each side of the door, welcoming Larissa and Lewis politely. Larissa had never been treated with such landare before, so she was quite stunned. In contrast, Lewis led Larissa amongst the crowd of shop assistants nonchalantly. As they walked into the store, Larissa could smell a pleasant scent in the air. The minute after they stepped into the store, one of the stall members shut the doors.  All of the shop assistants surrounded Larissa and eagerly introduced the newest designs of evening gowns for that season. From the beginning to the end, Larissa felt as if she was on cloud nine. She imagined that she was walking on air; the overwhelming experience fell unreal to her. Larissa was pushed into the dressing room and tried on gown after gown. In the end, she randomly pointed at one of the evening gowns so that she could finally escape. ‘Til have this.”

Gary panicked a little when he was singled out by Aster. Gary stammered, but his tongue seemed to be tied. He couldn’t even string a sentence together. Larissa completed his sentence for him. “He is my father, and your grandpa.” Aster took in what Larissa said without difficulty. He turned to Gary and greeted him with a sweet smile, “Grandpa Gary’s body jerked involuntarily at how easily Aster accepted him. Tears welled in his eyes, and Gary’s lips trembled as he replied in a hoarse voice. “Nice to meet you. Aster! Apart from the day when they were reunited, Larissa had not seen Gary in such an emotional state. Touched by the emotional scene, she lowered her head and told Aster, “Grandpa likes you very much. Can you let Grandpa give you a hug?” Aster wasn’t afraid of strangers. He looked at Gary and nodded. “Sure!”  Gary was taken by surprise for a second time. He blinked, and tears immediately rolled down his cheeks. Aster exclaimed, “Mommy! Grandpa’s crying!” He struggled to get out of Larissa’s arms and sat on Gary’s lap, wiping the tears away from his eyes. “Grandpa, don’t cry! buy you something yummy! I have lots of pocket money! I’ll give you half of it alright? Aster comforted him in a gentle voice, but the tears continued falling uncontrollably from Gary’s eyes. Struggling to squeeze out a smile, Gary said in a trembling voice, “I don’t need your pocket money. I’m just so happy to see you, Aster.” “Why would you cry if you’re happy? Aster asked, puzzled, but no one could answer his question. Fortunately, Gary managed to compose himself after some time. With Aster on his lap, they chaltered away happily. Most of their conversation was focused on Aster’s day. Regardless of how childish the topic was or how bland the jokes were. Gary listened to Aster’s words with full concentration, his eyes twinking with happiness. Larissa had no chance to join the conversation. Although the three of them were sitting in the backseat, it seemed as if she were separated from them by an invisible wall. Larissa felt a little jealous at how close they seemed, but she was mostly grateful for that. Larissa thought. “Things couldn’t be better right now.” This was what she always wanted–a harmonious and loving family life. Lewis had to make a few trips to move all the toys from the car trunk into Larissa’s home. Aster ran around his playroom in glee. Finally, he ran up to Gary. Wrapping his arms around Gary’s neck, he kissed his cheek in gratitude. Gary couldn’t help but smile widely at Aster’s delight, his eyes crinkling. “Open up the bones and see if you like the toys,” he urged. Alas, Aster didn’t comply. “All these toys I want to wait for Daddy to arrive first, then we can play together.” Aster stared at the toys eagerly, but he did not move to open the boxes. When Aster spoke those words, everyone in the living room was stunned. “Daddy?” Gary furrowed his brows. Turning to Larissa, he asked, “Who is Aster’s father?”

Chapter 714 Gary was eager to meet Aster. Although it was another hour until kindergarten ended, he urged Larissa to leave home as soon as possible. There was not a soul at the kindergarten’s entrance when they arrived. Larissa could feel a migraine coming on. When they went back to the kindergarten, classes were long over. The entrance was busting with parents and children leaving the premises. Larissa was worried that Gary would be jostled by the crowd. She asked him to wait in the car, and she would bring Aster out but Gary refused. He wanted to accompany Larissa On the way, he kept asking Larissa nervously. “Do you think Aster will like me? Will he like the toys I bought? Won’t he be afraid of me?” Larissa reassured him repeatedly. “He will definitely like you.” Most of the time, it was Wendy who picked Aster up, Larissa only came a few times before. That’s why it took Larissa more time to look for Aster’s class. As usual most of the students in Aster’s class had left when she came to pick him up. Aster was sitting on a chair, playing with some blocks in front of him. Aster’s homeroom teacher recognized Larissa. On his first day of kindergarten, Larissa had taken a day off and sent him to school with Wendy. Thus, the homeroom teacher had assumed that Larissa and Wendy were a couple, making a strong impression on her. Aster’s teacher greeted Larissa warmly, “Ms. Seymour, long time no see!” Turning to Aster, she called, “Aster, your mum’s here!” In Aldovian, there wasn’t a term for “godmother,” When Aster first enrolled in kindergarten, Wendy referred to herself as Aster’s mother as well. The teacher would tell Aster that his mother had arrived regardless of whether it was Larissa or Wendy who came to pick Aster up. Aster’s response was nonchalant. He calmly cleared the toys on his table away, went in the lockers to get his bag, and slowly walked to the door of his classroom, The moment when he saw that it was Larissa standing outside, his eyes widened. The next second, tears rolled down his cheeks. “Mommy!” Aster rushed up to her eagerly and wrapped his arms around Larissa’s waist. He buried his lace in her yellow down coal, wetting it with his tears. Larissa had asked to be discharged from the hospital. Her attending doctor agreed readily on the condition that she return for regular appointments. In addition, he wrote her a note regarding stult that she needed to look out lar. On the day she was discharged, Gary personaly came to accompany her in spite of his busy schedule. “I had someone decorate your room, and all the daily necessities you need are prepared. You can even move in right now without packing up. Lari I’ve waited thirly years for this day to come.” Gary’s happiness was evident on his face. Larissa felt quilty when she saw the tears in his eyes, but she had to decline his offer. “I have my own place that is closer to Aster’s kindergarten. I will stay there–for now.” Taking Gary’s feelings into consideration, she did nat reject him outright. Larssa added. “During the weekends, I will bring Aster back to your home for a short visit when he doesn’t have school.” Gary was visibly disappointed, but he had no choice except to compromise. He decided to agree. But he had one condition. “Alright then. Next time. I will decide on Aster’s elementary school in the future. When he is old enough to enroll, both of you can move in with me.” When Larissa agreed, a smile spread across Gary’s lace once again. It was a workday aftemoon. Thus, no one was al home. Larissa found a spare key that Wendy had lell for her under the rug outside the door. She opened the door to the apartment. After being away for more than a year, she couldnt hep but tear up at the familiar surroundings. Gary and Lews went in before her. They surveyed Larissa’s three–bedroom apartment as if they were walking leisurely at a park. Gary spent most of his time in Aster’s nursery. With a tender look in his eyes, he fidgeted with the plushie on the bed and lipped the coloring books on Asler’s table. Turning to Larissa, he asked, “When will Aster get all school? I’ll go with you to pick him up.” Larissa told him the time. skip the aflemoon classes. Frowning, Gary said. “That’s so late. Can’t we take him out of school earlier? Just the teacher that he will skip the afin Children mainly just play around at kindergarten, he wouldn’t miss out much on leaming.” At this moment, Larissa could understand the dilemma that most parents would face. What would she do when the grandparents coddled their grandchildren? Gary had explained to her repeatedly before. So, she knew the truth of what had happened at that time.

Larissa gave Wendy the side eye. “I’m not happy about this.” Wendy almost blurted out that Larissa was being crazy, but at the last minute, she stopped her longue.
