Chapter 33  “Cass…” “Mh…” I hear Colt’s voice and it is soothing. “Cass…baby…wake up.” My eyes open and I am met by Colt’s beautiful green eyes. “Mh…what is it?” I ask as I close my eyes and nuzzle into his chest, feeling comfortable. “We have to get back. The sun is coming up soon.” My eyes open with a jolt. I look up at the sky and he is right. “Shit!” “Don’t panic. No one has come looking for us so we are fine.” He says this as he looks into my eyes and I give in to my urge to k*ss him. Chapter 32  Garret stares at me as if I was something to examine. “Is that even an option?” I ask Garret. “Na. He will never let you go so you need to be ready for anything he throws at you. Listen, you want to be on his good side? Just make him happy.” He says. “Don’t argue and do everything he tells you to do.” “Make him happy…why?” I ask him “Because…it will help you survive him.” “But…why should I start now? I ask. “Huh?” He is obviously confused because I am not talking to him. I am talking to myself now. “Why should I now start living to make someone else happy when all I have done all these years is rebel against my own oppressors damming the consequences? Why change now? I have only changed one horrible pack for another…” Garret seems stunned at my words. Chapter 31  Colt’s POV.  I stand here, watching and waiting. I try my best not to stare at her but it is impossible. All I do is worry. I am the one who got her into this mess. She is here because of me. I was unable to protect her and now she is caught in Warrick’s claws. This…this can’t be my home. I refuse to call this place my home. I watch as men and women are displayed like cattle. As we continue to walk, we come across an area where a man is bent over a tree stump, and from behind, a guard holds a long hot metal rod that he presses against the man’s spine. The man screams as the metal brands his back and smoke comes out. “What is this, Poppy?” I whisper. “This is the reforming camp. As she says this, we walk near a few erected cemented walls. On these walls, there are chained werewolves in their werewolf form aggressively trying to get free and trying to attack the guards. I can see how the silver chains burn through their skin. The guards whip them with silver thin wires that cut through the werewolf’s skin. It is horrible to watch. “These are mostly Alpha werewolves who do not want to comply…so they are being broken,” Poppy explains. I look away, unable to stand Colt had told me about. There is a long rectangular stage in the middle of the camp. On the stage, there are long wooden poles with chains and attached to these chains are what I believe to be men and women. It is hard to make out because their skin has been melted just like Colt told me, with silver liquid. They breathe but these people are not alive, not really. I feel so disgusted. Chapter 29 “Maybe…this IS love.” Colt’s eyes feel like they pierce through my soul. He leans in, his warm lips touching mine. It is a tender sweet soft k*ss that ends too soon. He pulls back and hugs me. “You are…the bravest person I know, you know that?” He whispers. Chapter 28  I stare back at myself. “I…I don’t even know what she looked like.” I never gave this much thought. I don’t know if it was my subconscious trying to protect me but, I never thought about my real mother, until now. I have always had to be so strong. It is like I have been numb all this time and now I am finally starting to feel something. Sadness. “Come. Let’s fix your hair.‘ She gently pulls me to a chair. “Such pretty hair,” she mutters as she starts working with it. Chapter 27 The letter looks like it was written hastily. I start reading it. ‘I will come to you soon. You are safe. He won’t hurt you. He is too excited to have you back right now.‘ To have me back…then he was telling the truth? Am I really that man’s daughter? Chapter 26 The man is tall and has dark hair with streaks of gray. He has dark eyes and wavy short hair. He wears a dark blue suit that fits him perfectly. A man who dresses well. In front of the man–who still cleans his hands–is a b*dy. A dead and mutilated b*dy. I look up at the imposing figure in front of me.
