Chapter 65  Suddenly, I am scattered. I  am so in shock that I don’t know what to do, say, or  think.  “Cass… Cass!” Kanda brings my attention back to her and  the fight that is about to start.  “What is wrong? Get your head in the game!” She  motions to three men and  two women who come out of  the opposite barracks.  Five?! We are fighting five  opponents?!  The announcer starts  presenting them as they walk  towards the middle. But  before the announcer can  present the second man, I hear Maribel whisper  “Human” with a bit of  desperation. Maribel  suddenly rushes by me and jumps on one of the girls. The girl falls backward with  Maribel on her, her mouth  latched onto the woman’s  n*ck.  She…is biting her?  Kanda and I are shocked and  so are the other contestants.  The crowd has gone just a bit quieter too excluding some  that cheer.  Maribel suddenly stands, leaving the girl dead on the floor. Maribel’s lips run red with blood, dripping down her chin and fangs exposed. She wipes her chin trying to get all the dripping blood back in her mouth, licking her fingers with desperation. When her eyes meet mine, they are glowing red.  Everyone is stunned.  “Eh…” The announcer  doesn’t know what to say.  “A…vampire…ladies and  gentlemen…our Maiden is…a vampire.” He suddenly cuts  off and whispers to someone.  “No one told me we had a  vampire.” We can still hear  him.  Vampire!?  I knew other supernatural creatures were real but I had  never seen a vampire. They  are rare creatures.  The other female opponent suddenly swings her sword at Maribel. Maribel dodges, picks up her own sword, and starts fighting. She swings  the massive sword  effortlessly as if it were a piece of plastic and did not weigh a single pound.  I take one last look at Ezra  hearing Kanda start fighting  too.  He stares down at us.  Does he know it’s me?  I can’t tell if he does or  […]

Chapter 64  “Who…are you?  “Honora!” I get up and press myself against the bars.  She recoils back and I  quickly back away just a bit  to not scare her.  “I…know you.” She says. “I can feel that power of yours.”  I nod. “I’m Cass. We met at  your shop when Lotus  brought me to you.”  “Yes…what in the world are  you doing here?” She asks grabbing the bars as if she is checking how sturdy they  are.  “I was sold by an enemy Alpha. Can you help me?”  She looks to the side at all  the guards and then looks back at me shaking her head.  “How can I help you? I can’t directly get you out, I’m just  a witch.”  “A witch?” Kanda asks  sounding amused, listening  in to our conversation. “You have magical powers?”  “Well yes but probably not as  you think. I can create  magical potions and enchant items. Use the power of crystals to help someone heal a disease or help with  dreams.” She looks at me as  she says this. “I don’t wield realm–bending abilities as  they embellish on books and  movies.”  I nod. “I know but you can  still help. Tell my pack where I am. I am sure they are  looking for me but they  don’t know I am here.”  She slowly nods looking  thoughtful. “Yes, I can do  that.”  I look at her with confusion.  “What are you doing here anyway?”  She looks a bit ashamed now.  “I come here to get  ingredients for my potions.  They sell things here that…well…are not sold at  other places.” She holds up a small rucksack bag. “Kidney  stones passed from a  human.”  My face scrunches in disgust as she nervously smiles. I really hope that the potion I  drank from her didn’t  contain that.  She sighs. “Listen. I will help  you but I can’t leave now. This place is not open to just anyone and every time I am here I am always being  watched. Even now. So I  have to play this off 

Chapter 63  I stand on a table in the  middle of a dining hall. A huge room with multiple dining tables. My wrists and  ankles are in shackles.  Kanda, Sheril and the other  contestants that won stand  with me also shakled. They took us here directly after the fight. I can tell Kanda is having a hard time standing  since she is hurt but she does  her best.  We are displayed like  trophies for Zao’s  amusement. There are all  manner of people here.  Some look–and act― like  savages, others look like well–established people.  They told us not to speak or we would be punished  but…since when has  punishment stopped me from speaking my mind?  The people here come  around to our table to get a  good look at us.  “Not a scratch on him…” One  of the spectators mutters  looking at one of the men  that stands with us.  A big chunky round fellow steps in front of Kanda with a big smile. His big round rosy ch*eks pucker up. “My Nubian goddess! You made me so much money today!”  The man is excited and in a  very good mood. He holds cup up and nods at Kanda,  and then he drinks.  “I was not expecting a double team. It was quite exciting.”  Two men speak looking at  Sheril and then at me.  “How long do we have to stay  like this?” I whisper to the  girls.  “They will get us back soon, especially because Kanda and one of the guys are hurt. Just hold on a bit longer.”  I am not sure I can hold on, I  am about to explode on  these people. They are disgusting for what they are doing here.  “At least we are not them.”  Sheril says looking at the poor women who were brought to entertain the men in a more s**ual way—also prisoners and among them is  Lia, the girl from our cell.  Two men suddenly stand in  front of me. They look up at  me, studying me.  “What a curious sight.”  “Indeed. The mask makes  her…mysterious. She looks dangerous. I like it.”  “You like it?” I ask.  “Oh yes…” He responds. “I wonder what those eyes look  like.” 

Chapter 62  -Colt’s Pov-  “They don’t have her in the pack.” Beck says. “Are you sure?!” “Yes. We immediately set up surveillance when we arrived, a few hours after he attacked us. He returned yesterday to his pack and was only with his men. “Yesterday? That is three days after he took her.” “He must have taken her somewhere else.” “But where!?” I punch the table. Beck shakes his head. “I do not know but…he brought more men with him. Many more than what he had before.” “Ezra. He must have given her to Ezra and he paid him for it.” James says. “We don’t know that for sure.” Victor says. “But it makes sense! He said that Ezra had offered him a deal.” I say. “We have been watching Ezra since before Oliver betrayed us. There has been no new activity with him. He might not even know of what has happened.” Says Garret. “But there is a possibility that you are right. However, they could have her somewhere else and not in the pack itself.” “Keep an extra watch on Ezra and Oliver but now I want you to focus on what is at hand. We attack the river packs tonight.” Victor says. Chapter 61 “Nubian Pharaoh, you are up.” Kanda–who stands next to me–grabs her huge axe and walks toward the guard. I finally feel like I can breathe again. “You better win, shifter. I put some pretty penny down on you.” The guard tells her. She gives him an unbothered look as she walks out. The guards close the door behind her and we rush to the small opening to watch—including me. “He called her shifter, she’s not a werewolf.” She smells nothing like a werewolf. “Girl, there are different kinds of shifters.” Sheril says. “Werewolves are the most predominant ones but there are also werebears and werecats. Kanda is one of those last two. Never seen her shift though so I don’t know which it is.‘ ” “Oh. I didn’t know that.” “Zao likes collecting rare people. To him, we are like animals. ” The piece of shit. “Ladies and gentlemen, we have one of my personal favorites. The Nubian Pharaoh. She’ll be going against the One–eyed Tiger. Two seasoned champions. This is going to be good.” All I can see is just a bit small part of the pit. “I can’t really see much from here.” “Yeah, we can only get glimpses from the fight.” Suddenly we hear the crowd cheering. The fight has started. I can hear the sounds of metal clashing together. I get glimpses of Kanda and the man fighting. This fight lasts much longer than the one with poor Musa. From time to time, the crowd roars which I can only assume is when one of the fighters is near death. I can hear groans and grunts as the sound of sword fighting continues. It feels like an eternity when finally the announcer speaks.

Chapter 60 There is the clanging of weapons and people walking about. It was a horrible night with people snoring. Two men in the other cells started arguing too, waking everyone up. And even if that wasn’t happening, I was not going to be able to sleep with the splitting headache that I still had and the damn smell of bodily fluids, blood, piss, and shit. The pain in my head has gone down just a bit but the side of my temples where the bolts dig into the skin are tender. At least it stopped bleeding but my dilemma is that the top bridge of my nose itches…and it is inside the mask. I grab a little stick I find on the floor and slide it in through the top where I scratch and sigh with relief. A girl from the cell next to us comes close to the bars. She leans on them with her arms through them and looks comfortable as if she has been here for a long time. I can only assume she is not a werewolf since the silver on the bars doesn’t seem to hurt her. She has blond platinum hair but the dark roots are already an inch long on the top of her head. Her hair is curly but looks crunchy, stiff, and dirty. Her light skin is covered in dark dust and I also can see some bruises. Her dark eyes examine me with curiosity. “What’s with the mask?” She asks. I shrug. “I don’t know.” I have no intention of telling anyone about who I am. “F**kers don’t know what else to do to make this shit show more interesting.” Kanda’s voice echoes. Behind me, opposite from the bars that face the arena, there is a stone wall with a door that leads to a very tiny pit latrine. It has a concrete slab with a hole in the middle of it where you sit and do your business. There is no door so it is opened for whoever walks by to see and those who are stuck in the same cell. That is where Kanda speaks from as she sits on it and pees. “Mh, looks stupid if I am honest. Wouldn’t want to be stuck with something like that on my face. Can’t even

Chapter 59 Chapter 59 Colt’s POV. “Colt, they got in a car. We are not going to be able to find them or track them.” Dash says. I grab him by the neck. “I have to find her! “I am not the enemy here.” Dash says taking my hands away from him. “He most likely took her to his pack.” Garret says. “I have men going down the route to his pack.” “F**k!” I grab a chair and smash it on a table over and over until there is nothing left of the chair but pieces of wood. “The alpha is asking for you all.” The doctor walks in. We all look at each other and then immediately follow him to Warrick’s room. Yes, he survived it, at least he was still breathing when we all woke up. “How is he?” “He is alive for now, but you must be prepared, the knife nipped at his heart. He is bleeding internally and is not healing fast enough because it was a silver knife that was used. Even so, if that was just it, then there would be a possibility that he could recover but the real problem is the wolfbane poison that is coursing through his blood right now. The knife was coated in it. There is a high probability that he will not make it past the night.” “And if he does?” “Well, crucial organs do not go back to being completely normal. Flesh wounds and bones heal to be as if they were new. But not internal organs. They heal but they are never the same after a traumatic wound. As for the wolfbane, it is in his bloodstream but this also means it is everywhere in his b*dy. His insides are being affected by this. We are going to do a blood transfusion and this will help but I don’t have high expectations.” So the bastard might not survive the night? Now when we need him, just great. Chapter 58 A part of me does not want Julie to die, I don’t want to be responsible for someone’s death who didn’t actually deserve it but the other part of me, the wolf part wants her gone even if that means death. I feel no remorse but I know that what I did was wrong. I don’t know how I am supposed to feel anymore. Chapter 57  Colt’s POV.  F**k! Julia goes flying across the room when Cass gets her hands on her. Julia hits a table and breaks it in the process. “ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?” Cass screams. “I’LL KILL YOU!” Before I can move, Cass is already on Julia. Julia–screaming— puts her hands up trying to shield herself as Cass slashes at her with her full claws out. “Shit!” Dash screams. I ignore what is happening inside of me and both Dash and I run towards the girls. I immediately pick up Cass from her waist, or at least I try. She uses so much force that I can’t get her away from Julia. Dash takes Julia by the hands and pulls her from under Cass. Julia cries and holds her hands out with her arms slashed and bleeding. Cass is not having it. She tries to get away from my grasp and almost does, getting close to Julia again. “I’LL KILL YOU. I’LL KILL YOU! DIIIIIE!” It is a screech. “Cass!” I shout. “Cass stop!” I try my best to pull her back but she has lost it. I wrap my arms tight around her and constrict her thrashing movements. “Julia!” Dash shouts. Chapter 56 “Who?!” I panic. “I can only assume it is Ezra attacking.” Oliver says. He gets up and starts to calmly take his suit off. Warriors start running towards the forest and everyone comes out of the house. “Casseopea, get in the house!” Warrick says. “The house? But-” “Do it!” “But no! I’m fighting too!” “Can you fight? Have you trained enough to be in battle?” “Uhm…” “If you can’t answer that quickly, then it is a no. Hide in the house. Serge, take her inside.” “But if this is Ezra, I need to be here. I’m the one who is going to-” “If it is him, trust me, he won’t be killed on the spot. My eyes dart to Oliver who stares back at me. He nods as Father says this. “Let us handle it.” Even though I feel like I should be out here helping, I do as they say and head inside. On my way in, I bump into Colt. “Cass! Come on!” He takes me inside to the war room where there are a few people. Some of the general’s families like Julia, also Dash, Miles, Bryn, and the brides are here. Some of the people slide the shutters on the windows, closing and blocking them. Colt cups my face. “Stay here. You’ll be safe.” He kisses my head and starts to sprint out. “Wait! Are you fighting?!” “Yes. Stay here. You’ll be safe.” “Wait!”
