Chapter 65  Celeste stood still. Kendric shot her a quick glance before starting to  undress.  In no time, his shirt was off, revealing those chiseled abs.  He led a super disciplined life. Even with the crazy workload, he managed  to squeeze in time for boxing every week.  His muscles had the kind of definition that seemed like they were  hand–carved by an artist.  “Aren’t you coming over?” he raised his head.  Celeste stayed put.  Kendric seemed quite uncomfortable. He had been sick for over a week,  and he kept pressuring himself with work until he passed out. His body must’ve  been at its breaking point.  His voice still had a hint of that sickly hoarseness. “Come help me,” he said. Well, at least this time he used “help” rather than give a mere order.  “Can’t you add a ‘please‘?”  “Please.”  Celeste put down her bag, washed her hands, and then made her way over with a wet towel.  The moment she touched his body, she could feel the warmth of his skin. His back and chest were covered in a rash.  Redeemed From Caged Love  Chapter 65  Neither of them spoke.  Surprisingly, it was the most peaceful moment they’d spent together  recently.  Celeste wiped from his back all the way to his chest, and then abruptly  halted.  She tossed the towel on him, “wipe your chest yourself.” She crossed her  arms and stood to the side.  Kendric frowned.  “You’ve got hands, don’t you?” Celeste raised an eyebrow.  Seeing that Celeste had no intention of helping, Kendric grabbed the towel and started wiping. Unlike Celeste’s gentleness, his movement was rough and rude. The rashes on his body were already a shade of crimson, and his reckless rubbing only made them more prominent.  Celeste knew Kendric was doing this on purpose, but she remained  unfazed. “If you keep rubbing like that, your temperature might end up rising rather than cooling down later!”  Perhaps realizing that playing the sympathy card was useless, Kendric softened his tone slightly, “I’m worn–out. Help me.”  Celeste didn’t want to linger here any longer. “When will your assistant  arrive?”  Kendric gazed out of the window. “I don’t know. You can leave if you want. She picked up the towel, “I’ll help you. But call your assistant right now.”  Chapteres  Kendric didn’t say a word but grabbed his phone and called Luke.  She started wiping his body again. It felt like it had been a long time since.  they’d been this close.  “Celeste, shall we make up?”  Celeste halted her movement, and a hint of sarcasm welled up from deep  within.  “Kendric, do you think that after I’ve been throwing a fit for a couple of days, all it takes is a little sweet talk from you, and I’ll come running back to you?”  “You think what I’m doing now means I still have feelings for you? Even spending time here taking care of you signifies I’m shamelessly clinging to you?”  There was even a touch of bewilderment in Kendric’s eyes.  He couldn’t comprehend where Celeste’s fury came from.  He simply wanted to make up with her and put an end to the quarrel. He didn’t want Celeste to stay outside anymore.  “That’s not what I meant.”  Celeste sneered. “Then you look so down upon me that you believe we can reconcile when we’re in this state.”  “What state?”  “You’re asking me? Can’t you see? Can’t you feel it?” 

Chapter 64  Celeste pushed the door open and saw Kendric making a phone call in the study. He was wearing a loose–fitting navy–blue pajama. It seemed like he  appeared to have lost some weight.  While he was on the phone, Kendric turned his head towards the door.  When he saw it was Celeste, he suddenly paused.  “I’ll call you back later,” he promptly hung up the phone.  “Why did you come?”  Celeste sized him up. He seemed quite well. Except for the dark circles  under his eyes, everything appeared normal.  She asked, “Aren’t you feeling unwell?”  Kendric seemed a little annoyed, “who told you that?”  “Alright, you’re energetic enough to get mad, so I guess you’re not really  sick.”  Kendric quietly pulled his sleeve down, as if hiding something. He shifted  his gaze away from her, “I’m perfectly fine.”  Celeste nodded, “I can tell. Okay, my task is done. I’m leaving then.”  As she turned to leave, Kendric took a step forward and hesitated, “you…”  “Yes?”  “Ahem, do you have another reason for coming here?” He pressed his lips together and raised his chin.  Celeste felt a bit puzzled, “no.”  Chapter 4  Kendric seemed depressed and then sighed, “forget it.”  “Huh?”  She found it a bit bewildering, “don’t put on that expression. You’re making  it seem like I did something to upset you.”  Kendric remained silent, and after a moment of contemplation, Celeste.  suddenly realized.  Could he possibly think she’s here to apologize? For what happened that  night?  Celeste was left speechless.  She didn’t even bother coming in. She propped herself against the  doorframe, cocked her head, and drawled lazily, “you seem fine, so there’s no  need I stay here.”  “Oh, and,” she cast a glance at him, “take good care of yourself. You’re not a  child.”  “Are you worried about me?”  Celeste chuckled lightly, “don’t flatter yourself. If it weren’t for Cade telling me that you were seriously ill, I wouldn’t have bothered to come.”  Kendric’s hands unconsciously clenched into fists.  He stared at Celeste intently, as if he was trying to figure out whether her words were true.  Finally in a low, hoarse voice, he said, “you can go.”  Celeste was in a pretty good mood. She even flashed him a smile,  Chapter 64  “goodbye.”  This “goodbye” was like a dagger, deeply piercing Kendric’s heart.  He stood there alone, his head turning more and more dizzying.  As soon as Celeste turned to leave, she heard a sudden muffled thud from  behind. It sounded like something heavy had fallen.  The study’s carpet was thick, yet the thud was loud.  Celeste curiously glanced back.  The man who had been standing by the window a moment ago was now  sprawled lifelessly on the ground.  Instantly, her pupils shrank, her heart thumping wildly, a sudden rush of
