Chapter 89  Today’s Kendric’s birthday.  Madelyn, butler Kash, and Mary were all sent away from this city. Despite  this, Kendric’s birthday party was still attended by many important guests,  making it a lively affair.  Days before his birthday, gifts from various people started arriving. Some  even visited in person. The new butler got up early in the morning and started.  recording the list of gifts.  He meticulously counted the birthday gifts, listed them in the register, and then presented the register to Kendric.  Kendric quickly scanned it, but then frowned, “have all the gifts been  listed?”  The butler nodded, “yes, sir. All the gifts we received are listed.” He then  stood silently, awaiting Kendric’s instructions.  Kendric seemed somewhat doubtful of his capabilities, so he called Cade over, instructing him, “personally verify all the gifts.”  The new butler felt slighted. He had been working as a butler for a considerable time, and how could he not manage such a trivial matter properly? Despite his frustration, he dared not voice his doubts.  After leaving the study, he went for Cade, “Mr. Melville… Is there something unsatisfactory about my work?”  Cade gave him a reassuring look, “no. It’s not that you didn’t perform well. It’s just…” He sighed, “forget it. It’s hard to explain.”  can’t get my work done well.”  They searched a quiet corner outside the courtyard.  The butler lit a cigarette for Cade. Cade patted on his shoulder, “you know  why did the boss focus so intently on the gift list?”  The butler shook his head.  “He’s waiting for a gift.”  www  “Wait for a gift? What kind of gift could make him so eager?”  “What matters isn’t the gift itself…”  The butler was even more confused, “so, what kind of gift is he waiting for? I’ll keep an eye out.”  Cade took a long drag on his cigarette. “Hard to say. We’ll only know when she sends it.”  The birthday party was set for eight o’clock. Prior to that, Kendric briefly met a few important guests in his study. The butler was attending to the guests diligently.  In the evening, Kendric put on his black suit, paired with a white shirt and a striped tie.  At seven o’clock, the banquet started. By eight o’clock, the gates were closed, and they concluded the gift–receiving section. When Cade brought in the gift registry, Kendric was toasting and engaging in conversation with several guests. He excused himself and left as he caught a glimpse of Cade.  Cade promptly handed over the gift registry. “we received a total of 659  congratulatory gifts.”  Kendric scrutinized each gifter. Cade opened his mouth, hesitated, but  didn’t tell the truth that there’s not a gift from Celeste.  When Kendric reached the last page, his expression changed entirely. He  slammed the gift registry back into Cade’s hands.  In the twilight, as the sun dipped below the horizon, Celeste ventured outside. Along the way, she encountered many familiar faces/Some greeted her warmly, while others intentionally inquired if she was married.  Celeste replied them with a smile, “not yet.”  She leisurely made her way back home beneath the fading hues of the sunset. When passing a flower shop, she purchased a large bouquet of  sunflowers.  By the time Myles returned, Celeste had already prepared dinner. He sounded surprise, “Cely, you cooked all of dishes?”  Celeste was washing the berries in a bowl. “Of course. Dad, come and have a taste. I’m sure  you’d like it.”  Celeste had been contemplating how to tell her father about her plans to study abroad.  She was afraid that he wouldn’t agree. Then she realized that her father’s only concern was her ability to care for herself alone in a foreign land. So, she specially cooked this dinner.  As expected, Myles couldn’t stop praising her culinary skills.  “Dad, I’m leaving for abroad next month.”  Myles’s smile froze on face, “why?”  After Celeste explained her intention to study abroad, Myles fell silent for a  while but did not object. 

Chapter 88  “See?” Ezra smiled, “sometimes patience can win hearts more effectively  than anger.”  “I know.”  He knew his bad temper was always a problem. If he had lost control, he’d  only push her further away.  Celeste always kept him away from her families and friends. Even today,  from the start, she had been fearing Kendric might lose his temper and  embarrass her.  But none of that happened, and Celeste’s attitude slowly changed.  Looking back, maybe her initial dislike for him came from this–because he  couldn’t control himself, always letting his temper dominate and forcing it upon  her.  “It won’t be knotty to range against Vader family, but you better not  interfere.”  Kendric had no intention. After all, Celeste’s attitude towards Vaders was  clear to him.  Ezra added, “Manuel reached his current position at this young age. He has  a promising future.” Then his tone turned unusually serious, “his father’s about to start campaigning for mayor. Said to have a good chance of winning.”  “Confirmed?”  Ezra shrugged, “Not yet. I heard it from my uncle during my last visit home.”  Chapter68  Ezra’s uncle held a high position in the municipal government, so the information he heard was likely reliable.  Kendric glanced at him, “your uncle is also on the candidate list, isn’t he?”  Ezra hadn’t expected him to figure it out so quickly. “Damn, man, I really can’t hide anything from you.”  Kendric lightly tapped the table with his finger, “need help?”  Ezra waved his hand. “Not for now.”  Kendric pondered, “who on earth has been supporting Vader family in the campaign?”  “I heard it’s the McCartney.”  Kendric was slightly surprised. “McCartney? Why?”  Ezra smirked. “It’s said they yearn for a alliance by marriage with the  Vader. Manuel and the eldest daughter of the McCartney…”  “Manuel? Will he be willing to compromise?”  Ezra shrugged. “Who knows? Not everyone is as luck and free as you that can marry whoever they want.”  ***  Upon returning to their table, Manuel quickly apologized to Celeste.  Celeste shook her head, “it’s okay, really. Manuel, Sienna and I are friends. You, in my heart, are like a brother, and that’s never going to change.”  The subtext under her words couldn’t be more clear.  Chapter 8  Manuel ruffled her hair, “I got it.”  Sienna didn’t dare say anything more and buried her sadness in food.  In the next two days, Celeste was busy packing her things and preparing  her documents for studying abroad. When everything was ready, she went back  to her hometown.  When Celeste got home, Myles hadn’t returned from his work yet. After  putting her luggage down, she started cleaning up the courtyard.  Her bedroom was just as she left it, with posters on the walls and comics.  neatly stacked on the bookshelf. She made her bed, pulled back the curtains, letting sunlight flood the room. She sat quietly on the bed, feeling like she had  traveled back to her childhood.  In her childhood, she was much happier than now. She had friends at school, and she was cherished by her father at home. In her free time, she played with her friends or painted at home. Those joyful memories were so  precious. 

Chapter 87  “Sienna, she asked me to treat for a meal, but I thought it’s pricey and  scolded her a bit.”  Manuel immediately caught on this wasn’t a coincidence, but  intentionally arranged by Sienna to bring them together.  He playfully gave Sienna’s ear a tweak, “you have the audacity!”  Sienna pouted – she was doing it all for him! What an ungrateful brother!  As they took their seats, the waiter handed them the menu:  Manuel’s shirt sleeves were rolled up, and Celeste noticed a long scar  running from his elbow to the back of his hand, about twenty centimeters long.  “God, Manuel, what happened to your hand?!”  Manuel lowered his sleeve, “nothing.”  Sienna couldn’t resist chiming in, “it was during that hurricane…”  But Manuel swiftly hushed her, “Sienna!”  Sienna insisted, “during the hurricane, you were stuck in the hotel. When I  called you, actually Manuel was already on his way to find you… and then he had a car accident.”  “Manuel, you didn’t tell me…”  Manuel reassured her, “don’t worry, Cely, it’s not serious.”  Celeste felt a weight in her chest.  She stood up, suggesting, “the garden outside looks lovely. Manuel, how  about we take a stroll?”  Manuel nodded and followed her.  In the quiet garden, Celeste took her seat on a bench.  Manuel stood, his gaze on her. After a while, he broke the silence, “are you  really that scared of me?”  Celeste hadn’t expected such straightforwardness and quickly denied, “of course not.”  “No? Then why have you been avoiding me?”  Celeste’s avoiding his feelings had been an unspoken agreement between them. Manuel had never insisted on this topic so persistently before.  She sighed, “I haven’t.”  He chuckled, “I won’t do anything to you. I respect your will.”  Celeste was grateful he wasn’t making things more awkward. “Thank you.”  “But…”  He changed the tone, “we’re both unmarried. I have the chance to chase after you.”  His words made her feel uneasy, “Manuel, I…”  Manuel interrupted, “what? do you still have feelings for him?”  Celeste shook her head quickly, “of course not!”  He smiled, “then I get it.”  Celeste was about to explain further when a sudden noise pierced the air  Redeemed From Canelle  the sound of shattering glass, like a glass hitting the floor.  Manuel’s expression changed, and he looked in the direction where noise.  came from.  Only then did Celeste notice that, hidden behind the dense bushes, there  were people sitting across from them.  Kendric had recognized Celeste’s voice from the moment she spoke her first  words.  He was a frequent visitor to this restaurant, and today, Ezra had arranged a  meeting with some clients here for lunch.  But shortly after sitting down, they they found Celeste… and Manuel.  Celeste was shocked to see him here. What a bad luck!  Celeste was afraid of any conflicts, “Manuel, Sienna’s still waiting us. We better go back now.” 

Chapter 86  The next morning, Celeste was awakened by glaring sunlight shining  through the curtains. The rain had stopped, and the golden sun hung high in the  clear blue sky.  When she was in a call with Sienna, Kendric wheeled a dining cart into the  room.  He parked the cart beside the bed and signaled for Celeste to come and eat.  She pointed at the phone, indicating she’d join in shortly.  “Yeah, the rain’s stopped, and the flood outside is slowly receding.”  “Don’t worry, Sienna, I’m okay.”  “What! You mean your brother is also here? Right in this city?”  Just then, Kendric raised his voice, “time for breakfast!”  Sienna was scared by the sudden male voice coming from Celeste’s side.  “Celeste, who’s with you?”  Celeste glanced at Kendric, who sported a sly grin and walked away  contentedly.  She wasn’t good at fibbing, especially to someone close. “Kendric.”  Sienna gasped and then let out a scream, “how did you end up with him again?”  It’s hard to explain. Celeste couldn’t just shoo him away after what happened last night.  “No, it’s just… just a coincidence. This is a bit of a long story.”  “You just shook him off. How can you stay in the same room with him  again? You know what he’s like, especially after you turned him down in front  of everyone. He won’t just let you off the hook. Who knows what tricks he might  be plotting!”  Celeste stole a glance at Kendric, who had a stern face.  She interrupted Sienna, “it’s not like what you’re thinking, I’ll explain it  when I get back.”  Then, she hung up.  Kendric was quietly preparing breakfast with his head down. “The  breakfast is ready. Take your seat.”  Celeste sat down, feeling uneasy and guilty.  To be honest, Kendric had indeed lent her a hand this time. Even if those  words didn’t come  directly from her, since Sienna was her friend, she had  responsibility to offer apology.  “I apologize to you on Sienna’s behalf,” she said with unease, not exactly scared but rather feeling somewhat embarrassed.  Kendric frowned.  In the past, Celeste had a bag of tricks to lift his spirits, like pecking his cheek or teasing his newly grown stubble. Her getting a tad closer to him usually put him in a better mood.  But now, she had no intention of trying to please him in that way anymore.  A frosty silence hung in the air.  Chapterse  Celeste took a bite of her food. Unexpectedly, tears welled up due to the  spicy pepper.  Kendric handed a paper tissue over. “I’m fine, don’t cry.”  Celeste coughed even more.  After breakfast, the people Kendric had arranged to pick them up arrived.  When Cade entered, he flashed a meaningful smile at Celeste.  Kendric instructed Cade to take Celeste home while he would head to the  airport. Celeste didn’t want to trouble him and said she’d book a train ticket.  However, Kendric insisted on Cade personally driving her back.  He specially told Cade, “don’t hang around here. Leave as early as  possible.”  On the way back, Cade eyed Celeste through the rear–view mirror from time 

Chapter 85  Kendric waved to her, motioning for her to step aside. Then, he grabbed a  rope and climbed up to the second floor.  He brought a small yet heavy suitcase.  Kendric took off his raincoat. Celeste noticed that all his clothes beneath  were completely soaked.  His shirt was now damp and plastered to his chest, accentuating his  muscular shape. Below, his pants also clung snugly to his thighs.  “Why did you come ?”  Celeste brought him back to her room and handed him a dry towel.  Kendric unbuttoned his shirt and stepped out of his suit pants right in front  of her. Celeste turned away, avoiding any eye contact with him.  Kendric dried himself off, wrapped a bath towel around his lower body, and walked out directly. He pulled Celeste close and gave her a thorough once–over.  “Did you get hurt?”  She shook her head. “No, I checked in this morning, and then I fell asleep until around four. I didn’t go out after then…you came rushing here because you were worried I might be hurt?”  Kendric exhaled a breath of relief. “Yeah, this hurricane has caused some casualties here. I brought you some food and medical supplies.”  Celeste opened the suitcase and took out the food. Inside were six  lunchboxes, and to her surprise, they were still warm.  Redeemed From Caged Love  There was a set of her change of clothes and another set of undergarments.  “You prepared all of this?”  “Who else could it be?”  Celeste couldn’t quite figure out Kendric’s intentions. She gazed at him with  a hint of skepticism.  Kendric handed over a lunchbox to her, “here you are.”  “I mean…”  “Celeste, there are a lot of things that, I didn’t know how to do in the past.  I’ll learn from now on.”  “Like what?”  He wore a more serious look, “like, taking care of you.”  *Kendric, what on earth do you want from me?”  A bitter smile tugged at his lips. “What else could I possibly want..  The candlelight appeared to pick up on the tension between them, and the small flame flickered restlessly  He looked into her eyes and said word by word. “Celeste, I’m sorry.  Celeste couldn’t believe her ears.  She had never imagined that one day Kendric would offer an apology.  The atmosphere descended into quietness.  Her current expression was definitely not what Kendric had expected. His heart beat faster and faster.  hapteres  “Kendric, what’s been going on with you lately? All of these are definitely  not the things you would do in the past.”  Kendric had never been this patient and attentive before. Now, what was  his? After their breakup, he was like suddenly changed into another person.  “Just as you said, it was the past. Now I’ve made changes.“.  Back when they had just broken up, she always felt this sense of restraint  around Kendric. But now, at least, she could face this man with a calm and  composed heart.  “I accept your apology,” she said.  Kendric bent down slightly. He reached out to touch her cheek, but feared  that she might dislike this intimate behavior. 

Chapter 84 Celeste parted the curtains. The rain outside had layered the windowpane with water droplets, and the downpour continued relentlessly. Chapter 83 His suit jacket was missing, and his white shirt got wrinkled. His hands rested  on his legs, and his head was slightly upward tilting. Several strands of hair fell  carelessly over his forehead.  His expression was intense and focused–like a stray dog on the roadside,  waiting to be picked up and taken home.  Celeste internally berated herself. “Celeste, you must be losing your mind to think he’s pitiful!”  “Celeste,” he gently called.  Celeste’s heart did a little dance, and she froze in her tracks, not getting any  closer.  seat.  Kendric stood up.  “Hold it right there, don’t come closer!”  He obeyed without a fuss, taking a couple of steps back and retaking his  “So, who took you here?”  Kendric strained his memory, “Ezra Winters.”  “Where’s he now?”  Kendric shook his head, gazing toward the entrance, “he’s left.”  Celeste made a call to Ezra again, but nobody answered.  Damn jerk!”  She then tried to dial Cade, but it suddenly dawned on her that she’d wiped  Her phone of all Melville–related contacts.  Chapter$1  “Hand over your phone,” she extended her hand.  Kendric shook his head, “I didn’t bring my phone.”  Celeste didn’t buy it, so she took a couple of steps nearer, “let me frisk your  pockets.”  When Celeste reached into his pocket, he leaned into her, “I swear, I don’t have the phone. I’m not lying.”  Celeste found all his pockets empty and he really didn’t bring the phone.  Kendric flashed a smug grin, “told ya, no phone!”  Celeste sighed. It was late at night, and having a drunken fellow outside  could stir up trouble. Celeste straightened out his attire, “stand straight.”  Kendric had been leaning on her, but when he heard her command, he straightened–up right away.  “Good boy.”  Chapter 82  Celeste had to bring Kendric home. As soon as they came into the room, het  leaned against her. He closed his eyes and let out a deep breath, “we’re finally  home.”  Celeste led him to the living room, then she went searching for Cade’s phone number.  Kendric and snatched the phone from her grip. He grinned, “is the phone more appealing than me?”  “Give my phone back.”  Kendric took her phone and smoothly guessed her password. “Let’s see what’s so captivating on this phone.”  Honestly, Celeste had never seen Kendric act so… silly.  Celeste resorted to sweet–talk, “there’s nothing more attractive than you. Give it back to me.”  Kendric powered down the phone, and before Celeste could react, he stepped on a chair and placed her phone on chandelier.  Celeste was totally dumbfounded.  “What the hell are you doing?!”  “You said I’m the most attractive, so we don’t need the phone now.”  “Alright, I gave in. Can you go to bed now?”  Kendric’s gaze wandered toward the master bedroom. “Sure.”  “Come with me,” she headed to the guest room.  ”  Chapter2 

Chapter 82  Celeste had to bring Kendric home. As soon as they came into the room, het  leaned against her. He closed his eyes and let out a deep breath, “we’re finally  home.”  Celeste led him to the living room, then she went searching for Cade’s phone number.  Kendric and snatched the phone from her grip. He grinned, “is the phone more appealing than me?”  “Give my phone back.”  Kendric took her phone and smoothly guessed her password. “Let’s see what’s so captivating on this phone.”  Honestly, Celeste had never seen Kendric act so… silly.  Celeste resorted to sweet–talk, “there’s nothing more attractive than you. Give it back to me.”  Kendric powered down the phone, and before Celeste could react, he stepped on a chair and placed her phone on chandelier.  Celeste was totally dumbfounded.  “What the hell are you doing?!”  “You said I’m the most attractive, so we don’t need the phone now.”  “Alright, I gave in. Can you go to bed now?”  Kendric’s gaze wandered toward the master bedroom. “Sure.”  “Come with me,” she headed to the guest room.  ”  Chapter2  “Go ahead and sleep. When you wake up tomorrow, you should leave,  alright?” Celeste said as she made the bed.  But when she turned around, she found no one behind her.  She walked out and found him in the master bedroom. He was sitting on  the bed, gazing at her intently.  “Sleep here,” he said.  Arguing with a drunken head would be stupid. “Alright,” she agreed.  He began unbuttoning his shirt.  “Wait, wait, what are you doing?” Celeste hurriedly stopped him.  He blinked innocently, “undress for sleep.”  Celeste quickly grabbed his loosened tie, “just keep your clothes on for the night.”  Though he didn’t seem pleased, he followed her words. When Celeste was about to leave, he sat up, “it’s time to sleep.”  Celeste had no idea what was going on in his mind. His thoughts now were beyond what a normal person could  grasp.  He pulled back patted the bed. p covers an  Celeste grabbed a nearby cushion. “It’ll accompany you into sleep. I have something else to do.”  Kendric furrowed his brow, deep in thought.  Finally, with Kendric sleeping soundly, Celeste collapsed in the guest room. She was genuinely surprised by his behavior that night. He was still stubborn,  Redeemed From Cured Love!  Chapter 2  but he was more reasonable, and less irritating.  Early the next morning, as Kendric woke up, he found himself in a strange  room.  Upon opening the door, Kendric caught Celeste standing on tiptoe on a  chair, reaching for her phone. He’s abrupt appearance nearly caused her to  tumble from the chair.  “What are you doing?” he inquired.  Today’s Kendric returned to his customary aloof demeanor. Celeste felt a  tinge of disappointment.  “I’m getting my phone. It’s on the chandelier,” Celeste replied.  Kendrie–rolled up his shirt sleeves, and signaled for Celeste to descend from  the chair. “How did your phone end up on the chandelier?”  Celeste rolled her eyes. “Someone put it there, of course.”  Stepping onto the chair, Kendric effortlessly retrieved her phone. He flicked away the dust off his sleeve. 

Chapter 81  At this moment, Kendric was indeed drowning his sorrows upstairs.  As the auction concluded, Celeste left without even sparing him a glance. He had made a considerable effort to see her, flying back from abroad solely for her. However, she didn’t spare him an extra glance!  Even Ezra thought that Kendric was just too pitiful. He brought out his treasured collection of wine and let Kendric pick from it.  Kendric was burning with suppressed anger, but he couldn’t act as he had before with Celeste. So, he resorted to alcohol to numb his wounded heart.  “I’m indeed going abroad, but that has nothing to do with you. The painting is kept by the staff, remember to retrieve it in time.” With that, Celeste hung up the phone.  Kendric took a swig of wine. The bitterness scared down his throat like a fiery blade, slicing deep into his heart. He threw away the phone  absentmindedly.  “Heartbroken?” Ezra raised an eyebrow  Kendric raised his glass and took another gulp.  Ezra cautioned, “You can’t keep drinking like this. If you get plastered, I’ll have to send you back home. Troublesome.”  Kendric’s clear eyes seemed somewhat dazed, “home? Where’s my home?”  He didn’t have a home anymore.  Kendric was drunk.  Redeemned From Can  Chapte  He sat quietly on the sofa. Ezra patted his shoulder, “call your driver to  come pick you up.”  The pat made him snapped out of the dream,  “Where’s Celeste?”  Kendric lowered his head to fumble for his phone, “my phone… where’s my  phone? I need to call Celeste.”  Ezra quirked an eyebrow. To be honest, it was his first time witnessing Kendric inebriated. Alcohol seemed to bring out a different Kendric.  Ezra slyly shook his phone, “looking for Celeste?”  Kendric fixed his gaze on the phone.  Ezra grinned mischievously, “come with me, I’ll take you to find Celeste.  Kendric nodded his head obediently like a child.  “You know, you look more agreeable when you’re drunk.”  Kendric appeared somewhat slow on the reaction. He pointed at the phone, “Celeste… make the call.”  “Alright, come with me and we’re gonna call her.  Getting Celeste’s current address wasn’t too tricky. Ezra soon dropped  Kendric off at her rented apartment.  Afterward, he dialed her number.  Celeste was drying her hair. When the phone got through, she recognized  Ezra’s voice.  “Kendric is drunk and he’s now downstairs. Come pick him up.”  “Why is he here?”  Ezra adopted an innocent tone, “I don’t know. I asked where he wanted to  go, and he gave me your address.”  Celeste wasn’t entirely convinced, “take him back to his villa.”  “No.”  “Why not? You’re friends, aren’t you?” Celeste questioned.  “Anyway, I left him downstairs. If you don’t come, just let him spend the night there. When he wakes up tomorrow, he’ll find his way home.”  “You can take him…”  Before she could finish her sentence, the call was abruptly hung up.  Kendric stared intently at Ezra. “Where’s Celeste?”  Ezra pointed upwards. “She’s upstairs.”  Kendric followed his gaze. “Where?”  Ezra took away Kendric’s phone. “I’ll keep your phone for tonight. I’ve done my part, the rest is up to you.”  Kendric persisted, “where is Celeste?”  Ezra randomly pointed a lighted window, “that one. She’ll be down to pick you up shortly.”
