Chapter 13  Sheila excitedly grabbed the coat and demanded, “Ellinor, where did you borrow this from? How did you get in touch with a man who can afford such expensive clothes?”  Ellinor glanced at the dress nonchalantly, “Is it pricey? A generous man lent it to me. I barely know him!”  Seeing her clueless look and not appearing to be lying. Sheila scornfully said,  “I bet you wouldn’t know a man who can afford such high–end clothes! Wash it and return it when you’re done using it. Don’t get into trouble because of greed! A man with taste wouldn’t be into a country girl like you!”  Ellinor casually laughed, “Oh right, sis you didn’t answer my question. Where is your boyfriend?”  Sheila’s face instantly turned sour, seeing that Ellinor seemed unaware of the details, she faked it with, “Uh… I changed my mind about getting married yesterday, so I’m still single. There is no boyfriend!”  Ellinor raised her eyebrows curiously. “You don’t want to get married? Why? The Blanchet family is top–notch. Don’t you like them?”  Sheila scoffed, “Top–notch family, so what! The man I want would come running at the flick of my fingers! That Theo is almost thirty and yet has no girlfriend. He must have something wrong with him. Maybe he can’t have kids! So, even if he’s head over heels for me, I won’t marry him and become a widow”  Ellinor wanted to laugh, and nodded, “Hmm, sis you really thought this through. Congrats on dodging a bullet!”  After packing her stuff, Ellinor went downstairs, said a quick goodbye to Arnold, and then left the Mendoza family with her suitcase.  Meanwhile, Sheila sneakily followed Ellinor’s taxi in her car. She was curious about who the man that lent Ellinor the coat.  The man who wore such high–end custom clothes must be a billionaire!  Yesterday’s chaotic wedding made her lose all her dignity. If she could take this opportunity to find a rich and handsome man, she could finally lift her head in front of her relatives and friends!  Ellinor’s taxi stopped in the old town.  Ellinor got out of the taxi, walked into a small roadside restaurant with her suitcase, and sat down to order food alone.  Sheila sat in her car and shook her head.  She thought Ellinor had stepped up, now that she was able to borrow such expensive branded clothes. But when she went to eat in the hole in the wall restaurant, Sheila realized that Ellinor was just an ignorant country girl!  Just as she was chuckling, there was a knock on her car window  Sheila rolled down the window and saw a stern–faced traffic cop.  “You can’t park here! You’re violating traffic rules.”  Sheila retorted discontentedly. “There are no other vehicles here, what’s the problem with me parking here? I’m a public figure. I parked here because I was worried that I would be recognized by fans after getting out of the car and cause traffic congestion. This will also alleviate your work pressure, do you understand?”  The traffic cop was unshaken, “No matter who you are, this is a pedestrian street, no one can park here! Your car is illegally parked. If you continue to not cooperate with the regulations, I will have your car towed. Those are the rules!”  “Would you dare?”  Sheila took off her sunglasses, “Look carefully at who I am! Do you know how many millions of fans I have on Twitter? Be careful, I’ll summon my fans to complain about you!”  The traffic cop barely glanced at her and instantly picked up his walkie–talkie to call for a tow truck.  Sheila stomped her feet in anger and started bickering with the traffic cop like a shrew, attracting a crowd.  But not many recognized her, everyone was criticizing her for not following the rules. Sheila was no longer arrogant, and could only watch as her sports car was towed away by the tow truck. Then she saw Ellinor who had finished eating coming out of the restaurant.  She remembered the important matter, so she didn’t care about her car anymore. She hastily left the crowd and followed Ellinor.  Ellinor walked into a large shopping mall in the old town, and went straight to a luxury brand flagship store. She started choosing clothes boldly.  Sheila, hiding in the dark, couldn’t believe her eyes!  There was definitely something up with Ellinor! Where would she get the money to shop in luxury stores, and specifically pick the most  expensive clothes?  Seeing that Ellinor had finished choosing clothes and left through another door of the luxury store, Sheila wanted to follow.  But she was warmly stopped by the store manager, “Ms. Mendoza, the clothes you selected are already packed, would you like to pay ‘cash or card?”  Sheila was bewildered, “You must be mistaken! I just entered your store!”  The store manager smiled, “Aren’t you the famous actress Sheila? Your assistant came in earlier. She selected clothes for you according to your size. We’ve already packed them for you, you just need to pay now.”  Sheila frowned, “What do you mean? I came alone, I didn’t bring an assistant, and I didn’t plan on buying clothes from your store!”  Some store clerks whispered…  “Do you think she finds it too expensive and can’t afford it?”  “You see, she’s wearing outdated styles from a couple of years ago!”  “Other female celebrities are generous when they come to our store, this Sheila looks a bit shabby. I heard she quit the industry a few days ago. Is she short of money…?”  Sheila angrily said, “Who said I can’t afford it? I just don’t like the styles in your store!”  The store manager enthusiastically said, “Ms. Mendoza, rest assured, these styles are the latest of the season. They were personally designed by the master of fashion and are absolutely fashionable. However, if you are short of money, then it’s a pity….” Chapter 12  Ellinor had swapped her top for a guy’s T-shirt. Feeling a bit cold due to the open car window, she decided to also wear the suit jacket that the man just draped over her.  “I heard that you lost your job?”  While aimlessly staring out of the car window, Ellinor heard Theo’s deep voice.  Ellinor smirked, “Yes, all thanks to you!”  Theo nonchalantly flipped through the files in his hand. “I gave you guys a chance, but you messed up. By my standards, that plan was not worth investing in.”  Feeling a bit sleepy, Ellinor yawned.  “Oh! I’m no longer a Nexus Industries employee, you don’t need to justify anything to me.”  Theo flipped another page, casually saying, “If you’re looking for an internship in a company….”  “Mister, could you stop up ahead?”  Ellinor cut him off, looking out of the window as if she spotted something. The moment the driver stopped the car, Ellinor hopped out. She ran to the bus stop up ahead and jumped onto the bus that just pulled in.  She found a window seat, stuck her hand out of the window, gave the Mercedes behind her a thumbs–up, and then slowly rotated it 180 degrees downward in a dismissive gesture.  The bus slowly drove away, and only then did she pull her hand back in.  Watching this, Collin’s temples were throbbing. This Ms. Mendoza was incredibly bold, no one in Greenhaven would dare disrespect Mr. Blanchet like that.  “Mr. Blanchet, your suit jacket was taken by Ms. Mendoza. You have a project completion ribbon–cutting ceremony this afternoon…”  “Just have someone deliver a new one.”  Theo frowned, his face stern, as he continued to scan through his documents.  “Understood!”  Collin added, “Veronica just called to say she’s been hospitalized.”  Theo looked up slightly, “Why was she hospitalized?”  Collin explained, “This morning, Ms. Mendoza shoved Veronica’s head into the toilet bowl and made her drink a few mouthfuls of toilet water… Veronica is a bit of a clean freak, and she was so disgusted that she’s been vomiting since morning. Now she’s dehydrated and at the hospital for an IV”  “What did the doctor say?”  “The doctor said there’s nothing serious, she’ll be fine after an IV, a good meal, and a couple of days of rest. But, Veronica has been crying non–stop, she insists that you go back and avenge her by teaching Ms. Mendoza a lesson…”  Theo expressionless, “Veronica’s always been spoiled by her grandmother and is used to getting her way. Ms. Mendoza may be a bit hotheaded, but she doesn’t go looking for trouble. Let Veronica taste some hardship this time, she’ll probably learn to restrain herself a  bit. Don’t bother with her.”  Collin was taken aback, noticing that Mr. Blanchet seemed to be particularly lenient towards Ms. Mendoza?  He turned to ask, “Then, since Ms. Mendoza lost her job today, should we find her another one?”  Theo casually replied, “Don’t bother with her, as long as she doesn’t do anything to damage the reputation of the Blanchet family within the next three months.”  “…Understood!”  At first, Collin thought that Mr. Blanchet might have had some special feelings for Ms. Mendoza, but it appeared he was overthinking it.  That’s right, Mr. Blanchet’s heart only had room for Ms. Howard, and that hadn’t changed over the years.  But because the Blanchet family and the Howard family were sworn enemies, their love couldn’t be fulfilled. And so, Mr. Blanchet remained single, which greatly worried his father, forcing him to pressure him into marriage.  Ellinor took the bus home to pack her things. She would be staying with the Blanchet family for the next three months. She couldn’t just keep wearing his clothes.  Upon walking in, she ran into Sheila, who was home because she lost her job.  Sheila always treated Ellinor arrogantly. When she saw Ellinor come back, she immediately put on a haughty attitude.  “Oh, it’s you. I thought it was my takeaway!”  Ellinor didn’t bother to engage Sheila, she just sidestepped her and headed upstairs  But Sheila was relentless, blocking her way and looking at her with contempt.  “Ellinor, you came home wearing men’s clothes? You didn’t come home last night. Did you spend the night with some guy?”  Before Ellinor could explain, Sheila started screaming.  “Dad! Mom! Come quick! Look at what Ellinor is wearing!”  Arnold came out of his room, his face turned serious upon seeing the men’s clothes on Ellinor.  “Ellinor, why are you wearing men’s clothes? Where did you go last night?”  Following him out, Tracy looked shocked at the scene, “This… this is absolutely unacceptable! Ellinor, you’re an unmarried girl, how could you just casually wear men’s clothes? The Mendozas are a respectable family!”  Sheila chimed in, “Dad, Ellinor refused to meet the guys mom set her up with, but she spent the night out with a guy! How could she!”  Arnold’s face darkened even more, he angrily said, “Ellinor, explain yourself right now. What’s the deal with the clothes?” 

Chapter 11  Collin, sitting in the passenger seal, had a complex expression. He signaled the driver to stop the car, and then they both got out, moving away to avoid disturbing.  Ellinor’s face was rigid, her hands gripping the hem of her white T–shirt, slowly pulling it up….  Theo was lazily leaning against the car door. His neutral gaze fell on her with a hint of amusement in his eyes.  At Nexus Industries.  Morgan was severely reprimanded by Joseph for mishandling personnel and favoring his relatives.  Joseph even issued him an ultimatum. If he couldn’t find a way to recoup today’s losses that led to the failure of the project and cooperation with the Blanchet family, he would be fired just like his relative Debby!  Morgan was at his wit’s end, driving out to find a solution. He was worrying about how to keep his job when he unexpectedly saw Mr. Blanchet’s car parked by the road.  Mr. Blanchet was still here? This was a godsend! He could seize this opportunity to explain to Mr. Blanchet why the plan went wrong and try to salvage some room!  Thinking of this, Morgan quickly parked his car nearby and ran towards the black Mercedes–Benz.  This top–of–the–line Mercedes had tinted windows, and you couldn’t see if there was anyone inside from the outside.  Morgan carefully asked, “Mr. Blanchet? Are you in the car, Mr. Blanchet? Mr. Blanchet….”  Due to the excellent sound insulation of the car, Morgan’s voice did not penetrate.  Was there no one in the car? Mr. Blanchet was not in the car? Where did he go?  Morgan looked around but didn’t see Mr. Blanchet, so he tried to open the car door.  At that moment, in the car…  Theo’s face was cold, leaving no room for Ellinor to back down, and Ellinor was not about to give in to this man!  She had just been bullied by this man’s sister this morning, and if she didn’t show a tough attitude now, wouldn’t she be considered a pushover by the Blanchet family for the next three months?  Ellinor clenched her teeth and forcefully pulled her T–shirt up….  Fortunately, she was wearing a small tank top underneath. Although it was skimpy, it wasn’t too revealing!  Theo’s gaze instantly became serious. She was really going to undress!  Suddenly, the car door was pulled open, and sunlight and cold air rushed in…  Before Ellinor could react, she was abruptly pulled in by Theo! Her vision went dark, and then her nose was filled with the scent of a man’s perfume mixed with tobacco, her heart pounding….  Theo reacted quickly, in an instant, he grabbed his coat beside him and covered Ellinor’s body, pulling her into his arms to avoid being seen by others.  After Morgan opened the car door, he saw Mr. Blanchet holding a woman in his arms. The woman’s face was pressed against Mr. Blanchet’s chest, wrapped in a man’s clothing, and two straight legs beneath….  He opened his mouth wide, stunned, and immediately realized that he had seen something he shouldn’t have, breaking out in a cold  sweat,  “Ah! Sorry, Mr. Blanchet! I called for you outside just now, but there was no response, so I…”  Theo was holding the person in his arms tightly, looking up coldly and saying, “Get lost!”  Morgan quickly closed the car door, wiping the sweat off his forehead nervously, feeling uneasy.  He had interrupted Mr. Blanchet’s private matter, and now he was doomed…  Ellinor was held so tightly that she could barely breathe. After struggling a bit, she managed to wriggle out from the man’s coat, frowning and asking. “What are you doing?”  Theo looked down at the little girl in his arms. Under her thick eyelashes, her large eyes were full of dissatisfaction.  She was dissatisfied? If he hadn’t blocked her, her body would have been fully exposed! Didn’t she feel embarrassed?  Coming to his senses, Theo released her, saying seriously, “Get dressed now! Everything you say and do represents the Blanchet family. Don’t do anything as disgraceful as taking off your clothes at will!”  Disgraceful? Wasn’t it him who asked her to take it off?  Ellinor smirked sarcastically, “So, you’re giving me permission to wear your clothes?”  Theo’s eyebrows furrowed slightly, a small smile unconsciously appeared on his face. This little girl, she really held a grudge!  “Go ahead and wear it!”  Ellinor huffed, moving aside to put her clothes back on.  Theo didn’t look at her again. He turned his face, got out of the car and slammed the car door shut!  Morgan was nervously explaining to Collin, “Collin, I didn’t mean to, you have to help me explain to Mr. Blanchet…. 

Chapter 10  Debby watched the luxury Mercedes Benz pull away; her heart filled with jealousy. Back at the office, she sarcastically said to her colleagues:  “Do you know why Ellinor could leave so easily? She’s been a sugar baby to some rich dude, she doesn’t need this job!”  “Sugar baby?” The colleagues gathered around, intrigued.  Debby exaggerated, “I just went to take some stuff Ellinor left behind and saw her getting into a luxury car with an old man. She was sitting on his lap, they looked really cozy!”  “Old man? How old?”  Debby. “Maybe in his 60s!”  “Hmm, old enough to be her grandpa. Who knew Ellinor could be so shameless!”  “Never judge a book by its cover.”  Gemma couldn’t stand it anymore, “Debby, don’t spread lies. Ellinor isn’t like that!”  Debby sneered, “Am I lying? I saw it myself! If you don’t believe rne, go check the surveillance footage and see how Ellinor got into that Mercedes!”  Gemma was speechless. How could she have access to the company’s surveillance? Debby was obviously, tormenting her and smearing Ellinor even after she had left. It was too much!  Gemma couldn’t argue with Debby, so she swallowed her anger and resumed her work. Then she noticed something strange, “Hold on, what’s this? Why is there a weird file on my computer desktop?”  Another colleague chimed in, “I’ve got a file too. I don’t know what it is!”  “Strange, me too! Let’s open it and see….”  After everyone opened the file, the office fell into silence. They all looked at Debby with mocking eyes.  Debby didn’t like their stares, “Why are you all looking at me like that?”  Gemma stood up again, more assertive this time, “Debby, so it was you who played games during work and caused the company’s computer to be hacked!”  Debby looked shocked, her guilt showing, “Gemma, what are you talking about? Be careful, if you don’t have evidence, I’ll sue you for defamation!”  Gemma produced the evidence, confidently saying, “Am I talking nonsense? Didn’t you cheat people in the game for their gear and then block them after getting it? Turns out the other party is a professional hacker who hacked into your computer and even the company’s system. Yet you blamed everything on Ellinor and even changed today’s meeting PPT when I wasn’t paying attention! The evidence is in the computer. The hacker compiled your actions into a file, and we each have a copy!”  What?!  Facing her colleagues‘ strange looks, Debby felt extremely guilty. She nervously returned to her desk. The new file on her desktop contained screenshots of her chat with the gamer and footage from the surveillance camera when she secretly changed the PPT…  How could this be?!  Joseph walked out of his office expressionless, his anger couldn’t be hidden. “Who is Debby? Get her to pack up and leave immediately for violating company rules!”  Debby went pale. She started to wonder if Joseph’s computer also had the file?  Morgan heard Joseph’s roar and immediately came out of his office, looking very tense.  Debby saw Morgan and ran over to him for help, “You have to help me….”  Morgan sternly glared at Debby, pushed her away, and ignored her. He wanted to distance himself from this trouble–causing relative!  In the end, Debby’s salary was all deducted, she was fired and left with a dirty face.  Served her right!  Gemma felt incredibly relieved and immediately texted Ellinor the good news.  Meanwhile.  In the backseat of a luxury Mercedes Benz.  Ellinor placed her personal items aside and sat very close to the door.  Next to her was her ‘newly wedded husband” Theo, but since she got into the car, Theo hadn’t looked at her once. He just focused on his phone looking expressionless.  Her phone buzzed twice, Ellinor put down the box in her hand and picked up her phone..  It was a message from Gemma via WhatsApp, telling her Debby was fired and Morgan was severely reprimanded by Joseph.  Ellinor smiled slightly, not surprised.  When the hacker told her the reason for attacking Nexus Industries‘ system, she gave him one suggestion. Make a precise strike instead of hurting innocent people.  Debby deserved her karma!  After replying to Gemma, Ellinor unconsciously crossed her legs, her slender legs slightly crossed.  She was only wearing a men’s oversized T–shirt, and since she was sitting, the hem moved up a bit. The sunlight shone through the car window on her delicate skin. It was hard to look away.  The man raised his eyebrows slightly, his gaze fleeting over the two slender legs next to him. They were as thin as his forearm, too thin.  “Is this how you young people attract men’s attention?”  Ellinor looked at Theo in confusion, “What? Dude, I don’t think I did anything?” 

Chapter 9 All Gemma could do was marvel at Ellinor’s optimism, while she herself had already lost hope. The project proposal they had prepared for a month was now useless, and although she was extremely disappointed, there was no other solution! She sighed, then tumed and headed for the break room. “Ellinor, you’re busy. I’ll

Chapter 8  The phone call ended abruptly, with Ellinor barely having time to ask anything before hearing the busy tone. She had no clothes to wear, and all she found in the closet were the weird guy’s clothes.  She put on a random men’s white T–shirt, which hung down to her knees like an oversized casual dress. It didn’t look too out of place. Then, Ellinor rushed out the door.  At Nexus Industries.  Ellinor was clocking in at the front door when Gemma, who had a head full of troubles, rushed out to find her.  “Ellinor, finally, you’re here! The manager wants you in his office ASAP, brace yourself….  “The manager wants me?”  Ellinor rarely saw Gemma this anxious, “What on earth happened?”  Gemma looked around to make sure no one was listening and then whispered to Ellinor, “All the company’s computers have been attacked by a virus. The system is completely paralyzed, all the important internal files have been lost….”  Ellinor frowned, “What’s that got to do with me? If there’s a problem with the computers, they should call the tech guys.”  Gemma said worriedly, “The tech guys are on it! The point is, Debby told the manager that it was because you downloaded a game on the company computer, causing all the computers to get infected! And today, the boss invited an important client to check out our new project. The presentation of the project we’ve worked so hard on can’t be pulled up now. The manager is furious. He’s definitely going to blame you!”  Debby? The company’s nepotism kid! She and Ellinor were both still in their internships.  Nexus Industries was a Fortune 500 company, with many outstanding students wanting to join every year. Ellinor got here through the recommendation of the president of Creston University due to her excellent grades, while Debby, was said to be the manager’s relative.  There was only one official employee spot in the company this year, and it would be between her and Debby.  Ellinor had a rough idea of what was going on.  Before Ellinor knocked on the manager’s office door, she heard Debby inside trying to calm the manager do  “Don’t worry, the computers will be fixed! It’s all Ellinor’s fault, playing games during work hours….  Morgan angrily said, “Where the hell is that damn Ellinor? Why isn’t she here yet?”  Ellinor knocked on the door and pushed it open. “Manager, you wanted to see me?”  As soon as Morgan saw her, he started yelling, “Ellinor, so you finally decided to show up? On a workday, you come to work at this time? You took a day off without a reason yesterday. Is this your work ethic?”  Ellinor walked in and politely explained, “I’m sorry, I got married yesterday, and I ran into some trouble this morning, so I’m a bit late.”  Morgan found Ellinor’s excuse laughable, “Married? Even if you really were getting married, don’t you know to ask for leave? Do you think this is your house? Come and go as you please, be late if you want to, play games if you want to!”  Ellinor replied, “This is my first time getting married, and I have no experience. I will ask for leave in advance next time.”  Debby just couldn’t stand it anymore  “Ellinor, you’re shameless. Skip work, and you even use marriage as an excuse. This is just a ridiculous excuse!”  At this point, the office door was open.  The company’s CEO Joseph and a formidable man were standing at the door, just in time to hear Ellinor’s reply to Morgan.  Theo squinted slightly.  Morgan was about to continue scolding Ellinor when he saw the two men at the door, he quickly stood up and went to greet them with a big smile.  “Oh! Mr. Joseph, when did you and Mr. Blanchet arrive, please come in….”  Debby took the opportunity to look over, when she saw the handsome and chic man next to Joseph, she was immediately smitten.  Ellinor didn’t care too much, she just glanced over, and then her eyes widened!  That weird guy? Why did she see him everywhere!  The company’s CEO Joseph asked seriously, “Morgan, what were you guys arguing about just now? I heard that the company’s system  is completely paralyzed, what’s going on?”  Morgan, sweating profusely, pointed at Ellinor and said, “…Joseph, it’s the new intern. She was playing games during work hours, leading to the company’s system being invaded by a virus, the tech department is currently fixing it urgently….  Joseph angrily said, “What? Why are you still keeping an intern like this, are you planning to hire her officially?!”  Morgan quickly shook his head, “No! Joseph, I’m going to fire her right away!”  Debby smirked smugly. Theo glanced at Ellinor with a cold look, not lingering. Just like he never knew her, he said coldly, “Joseph, it seems I picked the wrong time to come, so let’s do this another day!”  “Mr. Blanchet, I’m really sorry to let you see this…”  Joseph felt very guilty, he knew it would be even harder to invite Mr. Blanchet again.  At this point, Ellinor saw Gemma anxiously peering in from the office door. She suddenly remembered that this new project was Gemma’s first time leading a team independently. If this project failed, she could never get a chance to take on important tasks again. Gemma had always taken good care of her during her internship.  “Mr. Blanchet!” Ellinor suddenly spoke up. 

Chapter 7  By the time Ellinor got changed, Theo had already left the room. She didn’t give a hoot about where that man had gone. After all, they were just partners, with a partnership lasting only three months. Once the contract was up, it was every man for himself, and they’d be strangers again. She locked the door and hit the hay right away.  The next moming  Ellinor was woken up by the racket from the maid of the Blanchet family knocking on the door.  “Mr. Blanchet asked me to bring you some clothes, Ellinor….”  What a nuisance.  Ellinor hadn’t finished her beauty sleep yet, but in someone else’s house, she had no choice but to get up and open the door. She took the dress the maid had brought her. After freshening up and changing her clothes, Ellinor stepped out of the room to find something to nibble on, only to get drenched by a bucket of cold, stinky water!  Laughter echoed around her.  Her vision was obscured by the dirty water. It wasn’t until the water dripping down her head had dried up that she could make out the scene before her. In front of her stood a young girl around her age, all dolled up and stuck–up, smirking at her.  A few of the Blanchet family’s maids were surrounding the girl. One of them was holding an empty buckel, the dirty water from which was apparently all over Ellinor now.  With a slight frown, Ellinor lifted her wet lashes and calmly looked at the strange girl, asking, “Who are you? Why did you drench me?”  Veronica Blanchet’s thin lips that were painted with the latest lipstick, cracked open in a haughty manner, “I’m Veronica, the Blanchet family’s Miss, and Theo is my brother!”  So, she was her sister–in–law.  Ellinor raised an eyebrow nonchalantly. “So why did you drench me?”  Veronica looked down on Ellinor with utter disdain in her eyes.  “That bucket of water was a warning for you to know your place! Don’t think that just because you’ve married into our Blanchet family. you can actually be a Blanchet family woman. You don’t have the right!”  Ellinor frowned, “But I’m still your brother’s wife, your sister–in–law. Is this how you treat me?”  Veronica sneered, “Sister–in–law? Don’t flatter yourself. My brother didn’t even sleep in your room last night. You spent your wedding night alone, and you dare call yourself my brother’s wife? Let me tell you, my brother only married you to appease my grandfather’s illness. Once my grandfather gets better, you’ll have to leave our Blanchet family!”  So that’s why that weird man was in such a rush to get married.  Veronica warned again, “Don’t even think about minute….”  Having said all that, Veronica was ready to leave with her maids.  “Hang on.”  But Ellinor stopped her.  Veronica Veronica was taken aback at first, then she sneered, “Women from poor families like yours sure know how to talk! Fine, since you asked, I’ll tell you! Remember, from now on, you have to behave in this house….”  “Wait a minute…..  Ellinor looked earnest, “Miss Blanchet, my memory is not too great. I was hoping you could come into my room and explain things in detail. I’d like to take notes.”  “What a pain!”  Facebook  Twitter  WhatsApp  Pinterest Chapter 6  The sun had taken a dive, and the night had sneaked in.  The Blanchet family.  A huge new house, a gigantic marriage bed.  After being brought to the Blanchet family, Theo handed her over to some maids, instructing them casually.  “Doll her up a little.”  The maids got to work immediately. They washed her face, put on makeup, and dressed her in a traditional white wedding dress, including a white veil. With her vision obscured by the veil, Ellinor could only see white. When she looked down, she saw the man’s fancy shoes in front of her.  His deep voice, like a cello, echoed in her ears, “Play along. I won’t hurt you.”  Though his words sounded comforting, they actually put pressure on her..  At this moment, Ellinor had already realized that escape was impossible! If this man could find her home, he could find her no matter  where she ran!  Biting her lip, Ellinor said, “Fine, I’ll play along. I was the one who provoked you first, so I should pay the price! But, you need to give me a clear timeframe. How long do I need to cooperate with you? When the time is up, we’ll go our separate ways and stop bothering each other!”  Theo didn’t have any interest in her either, and he responded indifferently, “Three months.”  He didn’t want to be tangled up with this woman for too long. Three months was enough time for his grandfather to recover from the  surgery.  “Deal!”  Ellinor found the timeframe neither long nor short and could accept it. She reached out and took the man’s hand.  “Let’s go get married!”  Theo was slightly taken aback, then looked at the hand Ellinor was holding. He had always disliked physical contact, but surprisingly. he didn’t feel any disgust.  Her hand was small and soft.  The Blanchet family’s wedding was of a classic style.  Ellinor went along with Theo into the banquet hall and held a simple and traditional wedding ceremony. Then, she was taken to this room filled with the scent of a new marriage.  When Theo walked into the room, Ellinor was sitting on the edge of the bed with her back straight. She still had the white veil on her head, looking pure and innocent.  A hint of mockery flashed in the man’s eyes, his voice cold, “Stand up, no need to pretend.”  Ellinor didn’t move.  Feeling that something was off, Theo walked over and lifted her veil. Under the warm light, a delicate little face appeared in front of him. Her long eyelashes drooped down and her expression calm and obedient. There was a bit of drool hanging off the corner of her slightly open mouth.  She had fallen asleep while sitting?  Perhaps it was because he moved her when lifting the veil, but the sleeping Ellinor lost her balance and started to fall to one side. Theo instinctively reached out to catch her, preventing her from falling to the ground. Ellinor furrowed her brows but didn’t wake up.  Looking at the small woman in his arms, Theo was somewhat surprised. This was the first time he had seen this woman without makeup, and he was unexpectedly taken aback. She looked better without makeup.  Perhaps sensing the presence of a stranger too close, Ellinor suddenly opened her eyes. She found herself half–embraced by a man and their faces extremely close.  She instinctively struggled, as if she had seen a ghost, said, “What are you doing? I’m warning you, there should be boundaries between us. We’re only pretend married!”  This girl became so cold the moment she woke up! If he hadn’t reached out to support her just now, she would definitely have fallen, face–first!  Theo narrowed his eyes displeased, “Who told you that we’re pretend married?”  Ellinor frowned, alert and said, “Are you trying to cheat me? We clearly agreed that this relationship will end after three months!”  Theo hooked up the comers of his mouth, “I did promise you it would end after three months, but I never guaranteed what could happen during these three months.”  After saying that, Theo pinched Ellinor’s chin with his slender fingers. The rough calluses on his fingertips revealed a formidable sense of power, it was overwhelming.  “A real man should keep his word. How can you be so shameless!”  Ellinor glared at him and shook her head forcefully, but she still couldn’t break free from the man’s control.  Theo leaned in close, staring at her.  Seeing Ellinor’s features all scrunched up, he let out a cold laugh, released her, and said scornfully, “Don’t flatter yourself. I’m not interested in girls like you!”  Although Ellinor was relieved, she was also very unhappy. “Heh, that’s a relief! You’re an old man. You are definitely not my type either!” 

Chapter 5  Theo tilted his head slightly, his narrow eyes staring at the emply balcony.  After two seconds of silence, he casually ordered, “You guys go in first!”  Collin looked surprised but didn’t dare to question Mr. Blanchet’s orders. He could only signal the groomsmen behind him with a wave of his hand.  *Come on, follow me in!”  After everyone entered the villa, Theo quietly slipped away. At this time, no one noticed that he had made his way to the back door of the Mendoza Manor…  A girl came out from the back door of the Mendoza family, her steps firm, humming the wedding march.  Just a few steps in, her neck was suddenly yanked back. She was lifted off the ground, her feet dangling in the air, like a lamb caught in the act…  *Trying to escape?”  The man’s deep voice was hair–raising; his icy tone sent shivers down her spine.  Ellinor turned her head towards the man who sneak–attacked her, but she quickly recognized the man’s voice. It was Theo!  Just a glance from afar and Theo had identified her!  But that’s okay, she had a backup plan.  Ellinor turned to look at Theo, her voice trembling, stuttering, “Why… why did you catch me?”  Seeing the woman’s face turn towards him, Theo froze and immediately let go of his grip.  The woman in front of him had a face full of freckles, her eyebrows met in the middle, her lips thick, and her eyes adorned with colorful eyeshadow. She looked peculiar, even more exaggerated than the characters in the movies.  Ellinor saw Theo startled by her appearance and could not help but gloat. Playing dumb, she asked, “Are you here to pick up the bride? You’ve got the wrong way! Your bride is waiting for you in the villa next door!”  Theo narrowed his eyes, staring coldly at the ugly woman in front of him, almost believing her words.  A smirk appeared on the corner of his mouth, “Is that so? Then why does your hand have the Blanchet family’s engagement ring?”  With that, Theo snatched her hand, lifted it up, and coldly glanced at the diamond ring on her ring finger!  Ellinor had forgotten to take off the ring!  Not that she forgot, but the ring seemed to have grown into her hand, even washing her hands wouldn’t get it off!  Theo’s gaze was meaningful, as if penetrating her disguise and seeing her true self. He answered her doubts. “No need to struggle. The ring is made from platinum blended with special materials, and it needs a special oil to come off.”  Ellinor thought, what a cunning trick! Alright, since she couldn’t run away, she would have to accept it!  “Let’s be honest now. I know you don’t really want to marry me. You just need a wife in name because of some special reasons, right?”  Theo didn’t respond, thinking her quite clever.  Ellinor smirked, “In fact, my sister – Sheila, is eager to be your wife. She’s prettier than me, and has a better figure. You won’t regret marrying her.”  Theo squinted his eyes slightly. So, this little girl didn’t want to marry him? Even desperately trying to escape? That was unusual!  In the past, the women he met would try by all means to catch his attention, hoping to be his woman. What he wanted, however, was a woman who wouldn’t pester him.  Theo said indifferently, “Whoever wears the ring, I will marry.”  Ellinor frowned slightly, “That’s easy. Give me the special oil you mentioned, I’ll take off this ring right away and give it back to you. Then you can put it on Sheila.”  Theo responded, “I don’t have any.”  “Then go and buy some.”  “That oil has been discontinued. It’s not available.”  “Oh, I see….” Ellinor gently bit her teeth, smiled, and suddenly pointed behind Theo, “Sir, look fast! There’s a seven–colored pig!”  Theo remained expressionless, a hint of a smile on the corner of his mouth.  …So childish.  The next second, Ellinor, who was about to run away, was again caught by Theo, lifted up, and casually taken away. Ellinor struggled in  the air, but to no avail.  Meanwhile, Collin had just led a group of handsome groomsmen into the Mendoza family’s living room when his phone rang. It was Mr. Blanchet calling. Collin paused, respectfully ended the call, and led the groomsmen to turn around and leave.  Seeing this, the smug Tracy was stunned, and quickly rushed up to ask, “Collin, the bride is still waiting inside, why are you guys leaving?”  Collin looked at Tracy and said, “Mr. Blanchet has gone to pick up the bride himself.”  Tracy was dumbfounded, “Pick up the bride? Impossible! Sheila is clearly still in the house!”
