 Facebook  Twitter  WhatsApp  Pinterest Chapter 83  The interaction between the two seemed more than just friends, but not too intimate, yet it gave a vibe of closeness  “Did Mr Blanchel pull her out?” Morgan was stunned, took a moment to think and then ventured, “Did you, the mistress, manage to snag the top spot?”  Ellinor looked up confidently at the man next to her, “Sit, he’s saying I’m your side chick! What do you think?”  She complained like a child to a parent, being utterly adorable in the process!  Theo narrowed his eyes at her, a hint of a smile forming at the corner of his mouth. Then, Theo turned his icy gaze to Morgan, “Who’s the side chick? Say that again?  Morgan shrunk back nervously. “Uh isn’t she?”  Collin stepped forward, stating seriously, ‘Ms Mendoza is the lawfully wedded wife of our Mr Blanchet.”  What?  Morgan was stunned. So, all he had seen. Ellinor and Mr Blanchet cuddling in the car, eating soup together in private, were not because they were lovers? But because they were legally married!  He was wrong! All wrong! He was screwed  Not only had he offended the real Mrs Blanchet this time, but he had also gotten Ellinor fired from Nexus Industries. Who would have thought that this girl, Ellinor, would become the lady of the Blanchet family, Mrs Blanchet!  Morgan thought his mistake would, at most get him detained for a few days, but knowing he’d offended them, he feared he might be arrested permanently!  If not for the two cops being there, Morgan might have already been on his knees begging for mercy. “Mr Blanchet, Mrs Blanchet. I’m sorry. I really didn’t know the truth.”  *Please forgive me. Let me off the hook!”  “It’s her! She’s the one who masqueraded as Mrs Blanchet and tricked me into framing the real Mrs Blanchet!”  In his own interest, Morgan dragged Veronica into it.  Veronica was livid, “Morgan Shut up, stop spouting nonsense here!”  Knowing Veronica wasn’t Mrs Blanchet, Morgan was no longer scared of her, “if I’m lying how did you know my name is Morgan? No one has called me by my name from start to finish! Besides, the call you made to me, and the location info you sent me, are all recorded on my phone!”  Veronica was so mad she was almost speechless, “You’re fabricating evidence. You’re deliberately smearing me.”  The cop from earlier walked over, giving Veronica a stern look.  “No wonder you were so sure earlier that Ms Mendoza was the prostitute from the hotel. It turns out you were involved in the whole setup. You didn’t expect we’d catch the wrong person, just a woman dressed like Ms Mendoza!”  Veronica’s face turned pale. She shook her head in denial, “No, I didn’t! You’re talking nonsense! You’re framing me.”  “Whether you’re framed or not, we’ll know after our investigation. The cop stepped forward, ready to take her in for questioning.  Veronica fiercely resisted, pushing the cop away, “Get off! Who are you? Why should I cooperate with your investigation? Help!”  Theo frowned, about to say something  “Theo, ignore her!”  Marissa, who had just come to her senses, pointed at Veronica with great disappointment “Let the police investigate her thoroughly! Let me, an old woman, understand what kind of child I’ve spoiled over the years!”  Now 

Chapter 82  Morgan was taken aback, “Mrs Blanchet, how come you suddenly don’t recognize me? I got busted here because I was working for you!”  You got the wrong person! I have no idea who you are! Get away! Stay away from me!”  Veronica sidestepped Morgan and said to the cops around her with irritation, “What are you waiting for? Take this criminal away! Don’t let him blabber nonsense here. It’s  scary!”  Then, Veronica ran ahead and hurried Marissa out, “Nana, let’s get out of here quick! The place is a mess. All kinds of strange people are here!”  Morgan, being led away by the officers, suddenly got pissed. He struggled and yelled, “Mrs Blanchet, you decided to ditch me after using met If you treat me like trash, I’m going to take revenge!”  “Officer. I want to report! It’s her! She made me do everything She’s the real mastermind behind this!”  Morgan’s sudden accusation got everyone in the station to look at Veronica  “Nana, the guy is nuts! Let’s get out of here quickly!” Veronica tried to keep her calm, eager to get away as fast as possible.  But Manssa smelled something fishy and didn’t follow her out. Instead, she turned to ask the officer. “Officer, what did this man do?”  “Ma’am, this man was arrested for allegedly installing cameras in a hotel suite, infringing on other’s privacy!” one of the officers in charge answered  Morgan initially planned to frame Ellinor as a prostitute to please Mrs Blanchet and get Mr Blanchet’s investment.  Later, he installed a hidden camera in the hotel suite out of his nastiness, intending to film Ellinor’s humiliation for his own pleasure.  But before he could get any footage, he got busted by the cops!  Manssa looked at Morgan seriously. After some thought, she turned to Veronica, “Veronica, do you really not know this man?”  Veronica looked flustered and quickly denied. “Nana, I don’t know him! Please don’t listen to his nonsense. He must be off his rocker, mistaken me for someone else!”  Morgan got furious, “Mrs Blanchet, you, with such a noble status, even lie! Wasn’t it you who gave me Ellinor’s location today, helped me knock her out, and send her to the Blanchet Hotel to frame her as a prostitute?”  Veronica went pale at his words, totally panicked, “You You’re talking nonsense! I didn’t!”  Marissa, having just experienced a scare, was relatively calm.  She clutched her chest and took a deep breath, then asked Morgan sternly. “Why do you call her ‘Mrs Blanchet‘?”  Morgan was puzzled, “Isn’t she Mrs Blanchet? I met her at the gate of the Blanchet Manor, and she told me she was Mr Blanchet’s wife, asking me to ruin the reputation of Mr Blanchet’s lover Ellinor.”  Veronica rushedly denied, “Nana, it’s not like that. You can’t listen to his nonsense.”  Marissa closed her eyes. She couldn’t believe that her beloved granddaughter turned out to be this kind of person. It was too much for her to take.  If it weren’t for Collin holding her, she might have collapsed  “Who did you say is my lover?”  A deep male voice sounded  Theo came over. His cool and mature handsome face stood out among the officers in the station, with an extraordinary aura.  Morgan was startled, “Mr Blanchet, you’re here too!”  “Who did you say is my lover?” Then, Ellinor walked out from behind Theo. Compared to the tall man next to her, she looked small, yawning and appearing quite lazy.  After such a long dispute, she felt sleepy again.  Morgan was dumbstruck, “Ellinor. Why are you here too? Weren’t you.”  Ellinor tilted her head and leaned gently on Theo’s arm, raising an eyebrow, “You mean to say I’ve been arrested for being mistaken as a prostitute?”  Theo looked down at Ellinor, leaning on his arm. 

Chapter 81  She immediately spun around, pointing at Ellinor and spat out, “It’s you! This must be your doing! That woman has to be a stand in you found!” Ellinor shrugged innocently. “Ms Veronica, are you determined to slap the bad woman label on me today? Is that what will make you happy?”  Veronica snorted. “What do you mean ‘slap a label? You are a bad woman!“  SMACK!  Suddenly, a slap landed heavily on Veronica’s face  Marissa was fuming, the slap just now leaving her huffing and puffing  “Veronica‘ Had enough yet? Kicked up a fuss at home, and now you’re at it again in the police station? Ellinor is your sister–in–law. Why do you keep insulting her repeatedly?”  Veronica, her hand on her slapped face, was in disbelief and crying.  “Granny, you hit me? You’ve never hit me before, and now you’re hitting me for Ellinor, who came into our family not long ago?”  When Veronica started crying. Marissa’s heart softened, but what her granddaughter did today was way over the line!  Marissa gritted her teeth and scolded sternly, “1 should have hit you long ago! If I’d disciplined you earlier, I wouldn’t have spoiled you to this exten!! Now apologize to Ellinor and try to get her forgiveness!”  “Granny! I did nothing wrong! Why should I apologize?”  Veronica, in an emotional meltdown, screamed, “Ellinor is the bad woman! Everything I said is true! It’s her! The woman at the hotel is Ellinor!”  Veronica, cursing and rushing towards Ellinor, furiously grabbed her by the throat, “Ellinor, admit it! Admit that you were a hostess at the Blanchet Hotell You shameless  woman.”  Ellinor was shaken so much she couldn’t speak.  The police officers in the station gathered around, “What are you doing? This is a police station. Stop it now!”  Marissa was about to faint, “Veronica, stop it now”  Theo, having finished his cigarette outside the room, walked in just in time to support his grandmother, then coldly looked at Veronica and ordered, “Let her go!”  Veronica instinctively shrank back, “Bro, this woman is bad!”  Theo’s face darkened, “Don’t make me repeat it!”  Veronica immediately let go of Ellinor.  Theo asked Collin to support his grandmother, walked forward, gently lifted Ellinor’s face, checked the red marks on her neck, and frowned. “Are you dumb? Don’t you know how to dodge?”  Ellinor frowned and complained, “Dude, that’s classic victim–blaming! She attacked me. You don’t blame her for attacking me, but you blame me for not dodging? Does your Blanchet family have any sense of justice at all?”  Theo’s tense expression suddenly relaxed. Amused by her words. He lightly pinched her face, “You’re a tough cookie, aren’t you?”  Ellinor grimaced, ‘Humph! My neck just got squeezed by your sister, and now you’re pinching my face again! Your Blanchet family really is unreasonable!”  Theo chuckled, his rough hand gently ruffling her hair, then he turned to look at Veronica, his voice icy, “You, go home  Seeing that her brother was furious, Veronica called out anxiously, “Bro.”  But Theo didn’t look at her anymore. He lowered his head to check the red marks on Ellinor’s neck, feeling quite unhappy, “Does it hurt?”  Ellinor rolled her eyes, “Not as much as when you pinched my face!”  Theo smiled slightly. “Now you know it hurts. Next time, dodge earlier.”  Ellinor was speechless and decided to ignore him  Seeing how her brother treated Ellinor: the tolerance and patience he’d never shown to other women, Veronica was stunned and glared at Ellinor even harder!  Ellinor was lucky this time, but she wouldn’t let her off the hook next time!  Collin accompanied Marissa out, with Veronica unhappily trailing behind  And just then, a fat middle–aged man was brought in by two police officers!  The fat man saw Veronica and ran straight towards her, grabbing her clothes with handcuffed hands, ‘Mrs Blanchet! It’s so good you’re here! Please save me! Ms Veronica  It’s Morgan!  Seeing Morgan at this time, Veronica’s face turned pale, her eyes darting around, “What are you talking about? You’ve got the wrong person! I’m not Mrs Blanchet. I don’t know you at all!” 

Chapter 80  Ellinor gave Theo a mocking smile, her face as calm as ever, “Really? You’re suspicious of me too, Mr Blanche17” Thea smirked. “Suspicious of what? That you sold yourself to a stranger as a graduation gift?  Ellinor was taken aback and shot him a glare Was Mr Blanchet really in the mood to joke around at this moment?  However, his sarcastic tone didn’t suggest he was suspicious of her  Ignoring Theo, Ellinor turned to the police officer and asked, “Officer, how should I cooperate with your investigation?”  “You come with me first, the officer responded sternly  “Ellinor Manssa nervously grabbed her arm, her face filled with worry  Giving Marissa an apologetic smile, Ellinor said, “I’m sorry, Granny, I might not be able to have dinner with you today.”  Marissa looked shocked, “Ellinor, did you really.”  Without further explanation, Ellinor followed the officer to the interrogation room.  As she passed by Veronica, a triumphant smile spread across her face. She smugly said, “Ellinor, did you think you could run home and act like nothing happened? You can’t  fool me!”  Ellinor stopped in her tracks and looked at her calmly. “Ms Veronica, why are you so sure that woman was me? What did you see? Or do you have any evidence? Do you dare to speak up?”  A flicker of guilt crossed Veronica’s face, but she scoffed dismissively “I didn’t see anything, and I have no evidence. It’s just my gut feeling! Ellinor, do you still want to argue? Let’s see how you explain yourself when the police figure it out!”  Ellinor said nothing more. She lowered her head and silently followed the officer into the interrogation room.  Veronica was pleased with the situation, looking confident and satisfied. “Just wait and see, Brother, Granny. Ellinor’s true colours will be revealed soon!”  Marissa was in shock and looked unwell. Collin helped her to a seat in the waiting area of the police station.  He approached Theo and asked, ‘Mr Blanchet, should I call the commissioner about Ms Mendoza’s situation?”  Theo, his face inscrutable, said nothing  “Mr Blanchet?” Collin called out, thinking Theo hadn’t heard him.  Theo turned away, lighting a cigarette with elegance. He said coolly, “Leave her. If she’s done something, she should face the consequences. If she hasn’t, she won’t be held here  Collin nodded, “Understood  Veronica was elated at her brother’s indifference to Ellinor. She was sure that Ellinor was done for this time.  About ten minutes later, Ellinor emerged from the interrogation room, looking confident and composed.  The stern officer who had taken her away was now awkwardly apologizing to her and politely escorted her to the lobby.  Veronica rushed over to ask, “Officer, what happened? Was she the one soliciting at the Blanchet Hotel?”  The officer shook his head, “We’ve confirmed the situation. The incident you reported has nothing to do with Miss Ethnor.”  “What? Nothing to do with her?” Veronica was dissatisfied with the result. She demanded, “Did you really check? I’m sure it was her How could it have nothing to do with her? Tell me, did she bribe you?”  The officer was clearly angry at Veronica’s accusation. He responded sternly, “I can assure you, our colleagues have apprehended the woman involved in the illegal activity, and she is being dealt with. Miss Ellinor is just an unfortunate victim whose ID was stolen by the criminal. She booked a room at the Blanchet Hotel and just happened to wear the same clothes as the suspect, that’s all.”  Veronica was about to argue with the officer when the siren of a police car sounded outside.  Not long after the siren stopped, a woman dressed exactly like Ellinor was brought in by two officers, “You’re not going anywhere!”  Veronica was dumbfounded  The officer said to Veronica, “See that? The woman who was just brought back is the real suspect.”  Veronica frowned at the female suspect. Shaking her head, she said, “No, that’s not right! She’s not the one.” 

Chapter 79  She didn’t dare to openly state her purpose for coming to the police station, fearing that her brother and grandma would stop her. So, she swiftly skirted past them and walked into the station, loudly asking  “Excuse me, sir. Can you tell me if a man and woman were arrested today for prostitution at the Blanchet Hotel?”  The cop looked up at her and responded truthfully, “Yeah, that happened What’s up?”  Veronica then asked, “Can I see the woman who was arrested? I think I might know her!”  She just couldn’t understand. The woman who was supposed to be arrested was Ellinor, yet Ellinor was able to return home safe and sound?  So, she had to confirm it, to see with her own eyes that the woman was not Ellinor to be relieved.  However, the cop shook his head, “Sorry, the woman in question managed to escape during detention. Our colleagues are still hot on her trail!”  Upon hearing the cop’s words, Veronica had an epiphany!  Her eyes sparkled brightly as she declared, “I want to make a report! I know where that woman is!”  The cop looked surprised, “Are you sure? You should know this isn’t a joke!”  Without uttering another word, Veronica turned around and dragged Ellinor in front of the cop, unabashedly declaring, “Officer, this is her! Take a good look at her. Doesn’t she look like the woman who escaped?”  Caught off guard, Marissa quickly scolded, “Veronical What are you doing?”  Unfazed, Veronica replied, “Don’t worry grandma, you’ll know the truth soon enough!”  The cop looked a bit startled, sizing up Ellinor, “Uh… I wasn’t part of the operation today, so I haven’t seen the suspect in person. But, she does look a lot like the woman described in the reports from my colleagues. Same clothes, similar height, and build…”  Veronica grinned triumphantly, confidently stating, “Officer, you can drop your doubts. Go ahead and arrest her! I can guarantee that the woman who escaped is right here before you All those things she “accidentally” lost were just a smokescreen to divert suspicion!”  The cop fell into deep thought  Theo walked up steadily, looking at his sister and sternly said, “Haven’t you caused enough trouble at home?”  At this point, Veronica had complete confidence, “Bro, I’m just stating facts! I want you to see Ellinor for who she truly is. Don’t let this sly fox fool you anymore!”  Theo remained calm, quietly telling Collin, “Collin, take her home.”  “Alright, Mr Blanchet.” Collin immediately set into action….  However, Veronica quickly hid behind the cop, “I don’t want to go home! Not until Ellinor faces the law!”  Theo signaled Collin with his eyes to handle Veronica  Not planning to stay any longer, Theo patted Ellinor’s shoulder, ready to take her away  Unexpectedly, the cop quickly followed, standing in their way and sternly saying, “Sir, wait a moment! She can’t leave!”  Theo’s eyes darkened, “Why can’t she leave?”  The cop’s gaze was fixed on Ellinor, growing more suspicious by the second. “Ellinor needs to stay here to cooperate with our investigation. We just received an on–site report, and I need to verify if the report is true, so she can’t leave for now.”  Seeing this, Veronica was even more convinced, “Bro, see! The cop said he needs to verify things, which means even they think Ellinor is suspicious!”  Theo squinted his eyes, turning to look at Ellinor… 

Chapter 78  Veronica drove herself, following sneakily to the police station  The police station  The officer handed the lost items to Ellinor, saying, “Please confirm whether these are your lost phone and wallet, and check if anything else is missing”  Ellinor was very cooperative, opened the wallet to check, then looked at the usage records on the phone, and confirmed, ‘They’re mine, nothing’s missing”  The officer nodded solemnly. “Sign here and you can take them away. Remember, be careful in the future. If you lose something again, it might not be so easy to recover like  today‘  Ellinor took the advice, smiling politely, “Yes, I’ll be more careful in the future, thank you, officer  At this time, Manssa stood next to her, like a cultured and kind elder, thanking the officers with Ellinor, and praising their dedication to their job.  Theo, with his tall figure, stood not far away. He just hung up the phone, put away his mobile, and squinted at the harmonious scene of Ellinor and her grandmother.  Things went smoothly, and Ellinor got her lost items back. She held Marissa and discussed what they should have for dinner while walking out.  “Grandma, what do you want to eat? Ellinor asked.  “I can eat anything, Ellinor, whatever you want to eat, I’ll accompany you Marissa answered.  Ellinor turned to ask Theo, “What would you like to eat? It’s on me!”  Theo raised his eyebrows, smiling, “Really? Can I choose something 1 like?”  Ellinor nodded generously. “Go ahead“”  Theo smirked, deciding to tease her, said “Let’s go to Noble Tastes then, their Wagyu beef is pretty good.”  Noble Tastes is a well–known restaurant in Greenhaven with exorbitant prices!  Clearly, he wanted her to pay the bill. Dream on!  Ellinor immediately dropped her smile, ignoring Theo, and turned to Marissa, “Grandma, can you eat spicy food? I know a Mexican restaurant, they make good spicy dishes Shall we go there?”  Marissa readily agreed. “Sounds good, I also like Mexican food, let’s give it a try!”  Ellinor laughed, “Then let’s head there now!”  Theo was speechless.  Was his suggestion just ignored?  Just as they got to the entrance of the police station, Veronica suddenly rushed in.  Seeing her granddaughter appear, Marissa was taken aback, “Veronica?”  Theo’s face turned stern, his eyebrows furrowing, “Didn’t I tell you to stay home and reflect on your mistakes? Why are you here again?“.  Veronica was naturally not afraid of her doting grandma, but she instinctively felt scared of her brother Theo… 

Chapter 77  “Ellinor, for this old lady’s sake Manssa, despite her inner conflict still hoped for a reconciliation between the two  Ellinor firmly responded “Gran, this isn’t the first time. Last time, she took you to the gallery and framed me. Now, she’s made me out to be some kind of disreputable person and even threw some nasty words my way I can’t forgive someone who repeatedly slanders and insults me without a sincere apology. I hope you understand, Gran.” Marissa let out a helpless sigh. Of course, she understood Ellinor’s feelings. What girl wouldn’t get mad if she were accused like this? Both times, it was indeed Veronica who went overboard  Veronica has been spoiled and needs discipline, but she’s sickly and frail, so they couldn’t be too harsh….  If only Ellinor could forgive her  Even though she hadn’t been punished, Veronica provokingly raised an eyebrow at Ellinor. Her arrogant face clearly displayed her attitude: “What’s up? I insulted you, and Gran won’t do a thing to mel  “Apologize to her properly”  A man’s cold but powerful voice rang out, drawing the attention of the entire room to him  As soon as Mr Blanchet spoke, the atmosphere immediately became serious  The household staff and servants were all somewhat surprised. Mr. Blanchet rarely treated Veronica so harshly Today, because of the new lady of the Blanchet family, it seemed that Veronica had really pissed him off.  Veronica was stunned, looking at Theo in disbelief, “Brother, you’re not siding with me either? You must’ve been provoked by Ellinor!”  Theo looked calm and authoritative, his tone unambiguous, “You framed her, you should apologize.”  Ellinor glanced at Theo, feeling somewhat touched.  Theo was fair, not favoring his sister.  Veronica’s eyes reddened unwillingly, “Brother, I don’t…”  Theo coldly said, ‘Apologize to her!”  Veronicas fear of her brother far exceeds her grandmother. She can be willful with her grandmother, but she doesn’t dare to defy her brother’s orders.  In the end, she has to grit her teeth and bow deeply to Ellinor. “I’m sorry!”  Ellinor just gave her a glance, didn’t respond, and then turned to Marissa, “Gran, I’m going to the police station to retrieve my belongings, you can have dinner first, don’t wait for me  Marissa felt a bit guilty and worried about her granddaughter–in–law going to the police station alone, “Ellinor, I’ll go with you!”  Ellinor thought for a moment, “Okay, after we pick up the stuff, let’s eat out. Dinner’s on me!”  Marissa smiled kindly, “Little Ellinor, I should be treating you!”  The two of them left together arm in arm. No matter who’s treating, the atmosphere was harmonious.  Ignored after apologizing. Veronica was not pleased. “Brother, you see, she ignored me even after I apologized”  “You’re not eating tonight. Reflect on your mistakes! Theo gave her a cold glance, then left with his grandmother and Elly.  Veronica gritted her teeth in anger. Her grandmother and brother were both siding with Ellinor. She almost wanted to kill Ellinor!  So, she decided to follow them to the police station to see what’s really going on!  How could Ellinor have just lost some items?  In the afternoon, she saw with her own eyes that Ellinor was knocked out by Morgan and taken to a hotel, where she did something terrible with a sleazy man in a suite….  How did Ellinor get back first?  There must be something wrong somewhere! She had to find out what went wrong, then she can defeat Ellinor! 

Chapter 76  The speaker blared, and a stern voice of a police officer came through  “Ellinor, someone found your wallet and phone this afternoon, and they used your ID to check into a hotel. Can you swing by the police station to confirm these are your things and to see if anything else is missing?”  Ellinor responded politely. “Sure, got it, thanks, sir!”  “No worries”  After hanging up. Ellinor looked at Veronica calmly, “That’s it? Getting my lost stuff back is a scandal now? Veronica, you thought the police were reaching out to me for a huge issue?”  Veronica was speechless  This was not what she expected!  The police contacted Ellinor just because she lost something?  “Ellinor, glad you’re good, so glad! You did give me a fright!” Marissa let out a sigh of relief.  Then, the old lady turned her head, looking at her trouble finding granddaughter with annoyance, “Veronica, what’s wrong with you recently, always making a mountain out of a molehill Stop shooting your mouth off!”  Veronica wouldn’t take it, accusing Ellinor, “Grandma, I’m not talking nonsense! Even Collin found out Ellinor was at the hotel today! And the woman in the news video was obviously her! Why else would she be dressed just like the woman in the video!”  Indeed, Ellinor’s outfit was the same as the woman in the video, but she remained calm and unflustered, ‘My clothes aren’t some limited edition or anything. It’s not unusual to have the same outfit. But Veronica, why are you trying to smear me, linking me to some negative news story?”  Veronica snorted, “Is it me smearing you, or are you guilty as charged? You checked into the hotel, and you’re dressed just like the woman in the video. What a coincidence, huh? How do you explain that?”  Ellinor responded innocently. “The police just made it clear on the phone, someone used my ID to check into that hotel. I lost my wallet, ID, and phone when we were shopping this afternoon Couldn’t reach you, so I came back home alone.”  Veronica chuckled, ‘Ellinor, you’re blatantly lying!  Her explanation might fool grandma, but not Veronica!  She personally saw Morgan take Ellinor to the hotel this afternoon, how could it be as Ellinor claimed  Ellinor raised her eyebrows, “Veronica, you seem pretty sure I went to that hotel? Did you see it with your own eyes? Were you at the hotel too?”  Confronted with the question, Veronica faltered, “I Why would I go to a hotel! I didn’t!”  She did see it, but she couldn’t confess, or she would expose herself!  “Ellinor, Veronica has always been spoiled by me, she’s stubborn! Don’t mind her. I’ll give her a good telling off!” Marissa tried to mediate  One is her beloved daughter–in–law, the other is her cherished granddaughter. She loved them both deeply. It was tough for the old lady. She gave Veronica a disappointed smack, “Veronica, you’re in the wrong here, apologize to your sister–in–law right now!”  Veronica naturally didn’t want to apologize, but things were going beyond her control, she felt a bit lost.  Without solid evidence against Ellinor, Veronica had no choice but to heed her grandma’s words, reluctantly saying, “Alright, I guess I was wrong today, I apologize!”  Ellinor looked at her calmly. “I’m sorry, I can’t accept an insincere apology:  Veronica was extremely angry, exclaiming. “Ellinor, I’ve already apologized, what more do you want? Don’t push it!”  “Veronica, you can’t be so disrespectful to your sister–in–law!” Marissa scolded sternly.  Veronica was defiant, discontentedly saying. She is fit to be my sister–in–law? I will never accept a person from the countryside as my sister–in-law! She’s a lying schemer! Trying to latch onto my brother!”  “Enough! No more disrespectful words!” Marissa was so angry she wanted to slap her, but she couldn’t bring herself to do it, this was her own spoiled granddaughter after  all!  Veronica knew her grandma wouldn’t hit her, becoming even more arrogant, pointing at Ellinor and yelling, “I’m speaking the truth! She is a country bumpkin!”  Marissa was speechless, “You..”  Ellinor, worried that Marissa would get angry, walked over and gently patted the old lady’s back, “Grandma, don’t be mad, I won’t stoop to her level, but I won’t forgive her either.” 

Chapter 75 A serious voice echoed over the phone, “This is East Town Police Station, are you related to Ellinor?”  Devin glanced at Mr. Blanchet, who nodded. He then dared to reply, “Yes, what’s up?” The voice on the phone said, “If you’re related to Ellinor, we need you to come to East Town Police Station ASAP There’s something we need you to confirm” After the call ended. Marissa was so shocked that she collapsed weakly onto the couch. Veronica was even more convinced of her suspicions, “Granny, see, the cops have called. That woman who was arrested must be my sister–in–law! How could she do such a thing? Granny, you’re so soft on her!” Marissa was heartbroken and couldn’t accept the fact. Theo got up, grabbed his blazer, and told Veronica sternly, “You stay here and keep Granny company. Don’t step out!” Veronica tried to stop him, “Bro, that woman isn’t worth it. You shouldrit concern yourself with her anymore! What she did… if you help her, it’ll only harm our family’s reputation!” Theo frowned and rebuked her, “Stop talking nonsense, get out of here!” Veronica insisted, “Bro, you shouldn’t concern yourself with that Ellinor anymore! She’s not worth it!” The siblings were in a stalemate, “Huh? Is Dad home early today? Granny, I’m hungry. Is dinner ready yet?” Ellinor’s lazy voice suddenly rang out in the house. Everyone was stunned, looking towards the source of the sound. They saw Ellinor, just woken up, slowly coming down the stairs. Seeing her. Theo’s eyes relaxed, his eyebrows slightly raised. Marissa suddenly sat up straight, her eyes filled with joy, “Ellinor, you’re home!” Ellinor nodded, “Yes, Granny” Veronica’s face suddenly stiffened, “You… how are you home? Weren’t you…?” Ellinor yawned, “Is it strange that I’m home? Where else should I be?” Veronica was confused. Morgan had just sent a message saying the matter was resolved. Why was Ellinor at home? After thinking for a while, she came to her own conclusion, “Ellinor, how could you escape from the police? What you did was embarrassing enough, are you going to drag us, the Blanchet family, into it too?” Ellinor tilted her head in confusion, “Police station? Why would I be at the police station?” Veronica snorted, “Don’t play innocent, your scandal is all over the news, we all know! The police just called, you can’t hide it anymore, admit it!” *Scandal?” Ellinor looked surprised, but she calmly walked over to the landline, “I’m not sure what you’re talking about, but I can call back and ask what’s going on!” With that, she picked up the phone and hit the redial button. “Hello? Is this the police station? Hi, this is Ellinor. You just called me, is there something specific you need?”

Chapter 74 “Any news from the cops?” Theo asked, cool as a cucumber, his eyes glued to his financial magazine. Collin responded, “They’re on it, questioning suspects and stuff, but haven’t got any solid leads yet” This sort of thing happens all around the world every day. Not exactly headline news or anything out of the ordinary. Taking a sip of his coffee. Theo instructed, “Let’s downplay the situation until the police figure it out. We’ll respond officially when the time comes “Gotcha!” Collin nodded, but he didn’t look as cool as usual. He even seemed a bit hesitant “Mr. Blanchet, there’s a rumor that the woman involved is… Ellinor Theo looked up from his magazine, his eyes suddenly sharp. Collin seemed regretful, “I didn’t want to believe it when I first heard, but our hotel check–in records show Ms. Mendoza did check into the Blanchet Hotel room 3201 this afternoon. And we can’t find her now” Theo paused for a bit, squinted his eyes and said coldly. “Don’t jump to conclusions without solid proof! Find her first!” “Right! Collin, you must be mistaken. Ellinor would never do something like that! Veronica chimed in, trying to draw attention to herself. Just a minute ago, she had received a message from Morgan, “Mrs. Blanchet, I’ve sorted everything out. Don’t forget what you promised me!” “Don’t worry. I won’t forget you if we succeed, Veronica replied, and chuckled to herself. Now, she followed her plan and opened up her news app, clicked on a headline in the society news section that read, “A woman and a man suspected of solicitation caught red–handed in the Blanchet Hotel suite!” and acted surprised, “Look at this! The woman they caught is wearing the same clothes as my sister–in–law was today, and the guy with her has blonde hair. He looks just like the old friend she ran into at the mall!” She handed her phone to Theo.. Theo looked at the screen of Veronica’s phone, the faces of the two suspects in the news video were blurred, but the woman’s clothes were indeed identical to what Ellinor wore today Veronica covered her mouth in ‘disbelief, “No way! Brother, this woman… is it really Ellinor? That’s why she didn’t want me to join her when she said she was going to catch up with her old friend this afternoon! They were up to no good, that’s so out of line…” Theo’s face darkened, he didn’t show any clear emotion. Just then, Marissa, who had been resting in her room, came out, “Theo, Veronica, where is everyone? Where’s Ellinor? Call her down for dinner!” Theo was about to caution Veronica to keep her mouth shut, but Veronica blurted out, “Granny, we have a situation! My sister–in–law was taken by the police!” “What! Taken by the police?” Marissa almost lost her balance, barely held by a maid, “What’s going on? What happened to Ellinor?” Veronica showed Marissa the news video on her phone, “Look, Granny! My sister–in–law was taken by the police this afternoon!” Marissa recognized the woman’s clothes in the video, it was indeed what Ellinor wore when she left in the morning. Marissa was shocked, “No, that’s impossible! Ellinor would never do such a thing!” Veronica said angrily, “Granny, my brother and I don’t want to believe it either, but it’s the truth!” Suddenly, the phone in the house rang!
