Chapter 163  In the moment of emergency, she slapped Theo to free herself.  Hearing the sound of them leaving, she breathed a sigh of relief  Suddenly, the phone rang again, and it was Chase calling  Ellinor furrowed her brow and answered the call  Chase’s teasing voice came through. “Ms. Mendoza, is that you? Some guy just said you’re married, I don’t believe it! Quickly tell me it’s not true…”  Ellinor interrupted him irritably, “Enough pretending, it’s me!”  Chase paused for a moment, then immediately resumed his usual tone and laughed, “So, how is it?”  “How is what?”  “You know, any progress between you and Mr. Blanchet? Was he jealous just now?”  Ellinor understood his intentions and warned sternly, “Stop doing these silly things in the future! I’ve said it before, between Theo and me, it’s only a three–month working relationship, nothing more!”  Though she emphasized it verbally, her mind was in turmoil!  She couldn’t forget what Theo had just done to her so quickly  In fact, this wasn’t the first time they had kissed.  The first time was a light peck to make the man she was arranged to meet feel awkward.  The second time was in the private room of Twilight Bar, where she played a game with some hooligans, lost, and had to find someone familiar of the opposite sex to kiss for a minute. Theo didn’t allow her to find someone else, so he kissed her himself.  But this time, there was no accidental reason, no external factors interfering, he just suddenly kissed her…  He had said before that he would give her everything except his feelings.  If he kissed her without any feelings involved, what did he take her for? Disgusting man!  With these thoughts, Ellinor wiped her mouth with disdain, annoyed!  On the other end of the phone, Chase said, “Actually, I think Theo is a good person. Though he’s a bit older, he’s handsome! And he’s intelligent, capable, and without the scandals that those scions of wealthy families often have. Why not actually be together with him…”  Ellinor couldn’t listen any further, “Enough! Stop talking nonsense. He has someone he loves in his heart, and I have no interest in getting involved!”  Chase was taken aback, and immediately became displeased, “Ah, he’s really no good!”  Ellinor said, “Whether he’s a good person or not has nothing to do with you and me! There are only two months and seven days left, and it will pass quickly. By then, he’ll be a stranger to me! By the way, your call came at the right time. I have something for you to take care of!”  When it came to business, Chase became serious, “Alright, what is it?”  Ellinor explained her arrangements in detail….  Chase accepted the assignment, “Yes, I’ll take care of it right away!”  Just as she hung up the phone, Ellinor hadn’t had a chance to catch her breath when Sheila Mendoza’s call came in.  As soon as she answered, she heard Sheila’s criticizing and commanding voice, “Ellinor, have you gone crazy? During work hours, why aren’t you answering the phonel”  Ellinor rubbed her temples wearily and forced a smile, “Just a friend called and we chatted for a while. Is there something you need, Sheila?”  Sheila’s voice filled with resentment as she spoke loudly, “Who allowed you to answer personal calls during work hours? Ellinor, come to me immediately!

Chapter 160  Ellinor continued, “Mr. Blanchet, you’ve never truly believed in my loyally to you! You had Collin arrange work for me so you could keep an eye on me and know my every move, right?”  Theo stared at her intensely, not responding immediately  *Mr. Blanchet, I’m only here for three months and am a fleeting presence in your life Please don’t try to control me! If you don’t trust me, I can swear an oath to you!  Ellinor said, raising her hand resolutely, “I swear, in the next two months and seven days, I will not do anything to betray you, and if I do, I am willing to accept punishment” After firmly making her pledge, she lowered her hand and turned to walk towards the door to the staircase.  But just as her hand touched the handle and opened a sliver of the door, it was suddenly pushed back by Theo from behind. The door was now tightly shut!  “Did I say you could leave?”  The door was stuck, causing Ellinor to frown. She had already made her pledge, what was this man still unsatisfied with?  A bit impatiently, she said, “Mr. Blanchet, don’t act like a jealous little boy!”  Little boy?  Theo seemed to have heard something preposterous. He then leaned over, chuckling softly in her ear, “Jealous? Ms. Mendoza, do you think I would be jealous over you? To me, you’re just a kid‘  “But to me, you’re a man!”  Ellinor blurted out in frustration. After saying it, she felt it wasn’t quite right and wanted to take it back.  But what’s said is said, like water poured out, how could she take it back?  All she could do was leave!  She tried to forcefully pull open the door, but it was held tightly by Theo and couldn’t be opened.  He whispered in her ear with his deep voice, “What did you just say?”  “…I didn’t say anything!”  Ellinor just wanted to quickly leave the staircase, but she still couldn’t open the door and was turned around to face Theo again!  At this moment, Ellinor was blushing from her slip of the tongue, unable to look at Theo.  Theo stared at her flushed face.  He couldn’t help but think that she really was captivating  She had just mentioned that there were two months and seven days left.  She remembered so clearly!  Since when did his emotions become so easily affected by this little girl?  He didn’t want her to have too much contact with other men. Seeing others compliment her made him uncomfortable and even anxious.  She thought he wanted to control her, but if he simply wanted to control a woman, he didn’t need to confine her somewhere because wherever she was, he could know everything about her if he wished.  He arranged work for her because he knew she couldn’t be idle. He figured it was better for her to be under his watchful eye than to be managed by others out there.  Ellinor had misunderstood him! 

Chapter 159  Theo just gave her a cold glance, lifted her phone, and answered the call.  The voice on the other end of the line came through and Chase gently asked. ‘Ms. Mendoza, why’d you hang up without saying a word just now?  Ellinor fell silent  Theo looked at the guilty faced Ellinor, ‘Is this the ‘friend‘ you were talking about?”  Ellinor still had no response. He was actually my friend and subordinate, I just didn’t feel comfortable telling you. But she could never say these words  Luckily, she didn’t save Chase’s number Chase and Ida’s numbers have always been memorized, and as long as Chase doesn’t spill the beans, Theo would never know they’ve known each other for a while.  “Ms Mendoza, why aren’t you saying anything? Where are you? Do you want me to come over right now?”  Chase asked enthusiastically over the phone.  Theo squinted, slowly put down the phone, and held it near his mouth. In a cold voice, he said, “She’s married”  His tone was calm yet startling and filled with a strong sense of possessiveness, which firmly declared ownership.  Chase asked in surprise from the other end of the line, “What? Who are you?”  Theo coldly replied, “Her husband”  Chase was silent for a moment, then said in a heartbroken tone, “No! That’s impossible! I don’t believe it! Where’s Ms. Mendoza? I need to hear it from her…”  Before Chase could finish, Theo hung up the phone  With a grim look on his face, Theo handed the phone back to Ellinor and said sarcastically, “I didn’t expect you to be this impatient and call him back so quickly  Embarrassed, Ellinor chuckled, “It’s not what you think! When we were downstairs at Crescent Society, Mr. Larios said something strange to me I didn’t understand what he meant, so I wanted to call back and see if there was a misunderstanding…  Theo sneered, “A man publicly declares his love at first sight for you, and you don’t understand what he means? Do you need to call back and confirm? Ms Mendoza, do you think I would believe you don’t have ulterior motives? Or do you want to continue developing a relationship with him? Or maybe make it official?”  Ellinor was frustrated, “I’m not, I didn’t….  Theo firmly gripped her jaw, forcing her to look up at him, “Ellinor, how many times do I have to remind you? You are my wife now, you are not allowed to contact other men privately!”  Ellinor felt trapped, unable to escape his firm hold. She frowned in annoyance and said, “You re overthinking this! I’m not the person you think I am! We are not a real married couple, you have no right to check my phone; let alone answer my calls; that’s invading my privacy! Even if we were a real couple, if you keep doubting me like this, we would end up breaking up sooner or later!”  Theo,  Ellinor felt like her jaw was about to be crushed by him, “It hurts…”  Theo’s eyes flickered, he frowned, then let go of her.  Ellinor held her sore face, thought for a moment, and decided not to argue too fiercely with this man. After all, they still had to see each other often for the next two months! Besides, Sheila was still waiting for this gentleman to join her for lunch. If she didn’t calm him down soon, Sheila might notice something.  “Fine, I admit I was wrong. I’m sorry!”  She lowered her head regretfully compromising  Theo was slightly taken aback. Looking at her pitiful face, he wasn’t as angry anymore, “What did you do wrong?”  Ellinor pouted, “My mistake was making this call now, I should’ve waited until three months later! By then I won’t be Mrs. Blanchet anymore, and you won’t have any right to  control me!” 

Chapter 158  Theo popped up behind her out of nowhere, giving her the cold shoulder Ellinor felt a chill run down her spine and instinctively hung up her call.  No biggie, just chatting with a friend!  She replied nonchalantly and slipped her phone into her pocket.  “Hand over your phone Theo extended his hand.  Ellinor was taken aback and frowned with annoyance. The guy was a bit off, but she didn’t feel like arguing. After a moment’s hesitation, she gave him her phone  “Unlock it” Theo said, stone–faced  “That’s my private business! I have every right to keep it to myself!” Ellinor refused  Theo’s ga tumed cunning “Got something to hide?”  “I have nothing to hide!” Ellinor retorted confidently  “If there’s nothing to hide, then what’s the password? Theo threatened, waving her phone in the air.  What’s with this guy? Why was he snooping around other people’s phones out of the blue?  Did he really think he could just invade people’s privacy like that?  Ellinor was fed up with his attitude, glaring at him, “I’m not telling you!”  Theo’s face hardened, he was clearly running out of patience.  He rarely met people, especially women, who didn’t dance to his tune.  And Ellinor clearly didn’t give a damn about his feelings.  Despite sometimes appearing compliant, it was just an act to avoid trouble; she really didn’t care about him.  Most of the time, her eyes were filled with indifference and not an ounce of submission, fear, or even a bit of concern for him.  Yet because of her usual compliance, her firm refusal this time stood out.  What on earth was on her phone that she was so reluctant to let him see?  He was even more curious now. Who was she calling that she had to be so secretive about it?!  “Ellinor, I’ll ask you again. What’s the password?” Theo demanded harshly  Ellinor was forced to look up at him, still not giving in, even defiantly saying. Take a wild guess! If you get it right, I’ll tell you!”  Theo was fuming!  Just then, her phone rang. It was Chase calling back….  Startled, Ellinor immediately tried to grab it!  But Theo raised the phone out of her reach.  “Give me back my phone!” Ellinor frowned 

Chapter 157  When Ellinor straightened up, it put a stop to Sheila’s antics. She was afraid that Ellinor might again use it as an excuse to get close to Mr. Blanchet Shella picked a restaurant called Charm Tower, located in the heart of the city which was just a short drive away  They entered the restaurant and had just sat down under the guidance of the staff.  Sheila said, “Mr. Blanchel, you order first. I’ll be right back from the restroom”  Theo nodded nonchalantly, his gaze not lingering on her for a second  Sheila turned to Ellinor and said, “Ellinor, come with me!  She called Ellinor for no reason, she was actually afraid that Ellinor would take the opportunity to get close to Mr. Blanchet when she left!  Ellinor shrugged and stood up to go with her.  In the restroom  Sheila was touching up her makeup in front of the mirror. She glared at Ellinor from the mirror and mocked her.  “Don’t you ever think that just because Mr. Larios of Crescent Society has a crush on you, Mr. Blanchet will feel the same way about a country girl like you!”  Ellinor replied nonchalantly, “I never thought that!”  Sheila turned her head and warned her seriously, “You better not have!”  Ellinor was a bit puzzled, she asked, “Sheila, what do you mean?”  Sheila took out lipstick from her makeup bag and sneered while applying it, “Can’t you see? Mr. Blanchet’s expression changes every time he sees you. I bet it’s because he remembers you burning him yesterday!”  Ellinor was a bit helpless, “I told you I didn’t want to come, but you insisted!”  Sheila looked at her with contempt, “I brought you here to apologize to Mr. Blanchet, but he clearly doesn’t want to see you all the time! So, just pretend to be busy in this restroom until I call you to come out. That way, you won’t ruin Mr. Blanchet’s appetite!”  Ellinor agreed, “Ok, no problem!”  She wanted nothing more than to stay as far away from that man as possible!  If it weren’t for Sheila insisting on her presence, she’d be home napping by now.  After Sheila finished her makeup, she took her designer bag from Ellinor, put the cosmetics inside, and ordered before leaving, “Stay here!”  Ellinor obediently nodded, “Okay, got it.”  After Sheila left, Ellinor also left the restroom. Even though she had no desire to intrude on Theo and Sheila’s lunch, she didn’t want to hang out in the restroom either.  So she found a quiet stairwell to call Chase, wanting to clarify what his attitude was about.  Chase answered the phone quickly. “Missed me already?”  Ellinor smiled slightly. “Miss you  Before she could finish her sentence, she heard….  “Who are you calling?”  A cold voice suddenly rang out from behind, giving Ellinor a fright! 

Chapter 156  Theo didn’t seem to have any interest in food, but he didn’t outright refuse either.  Sheila didn’t care about Theo’s indifference On the contrary, she was excited to share a meal with a man of Theo’s status.  “Let’s go to Charm Tower then, the food there is awesome!”  Charm Tower was the most famous upscale restaurant in Greenhaven. The prices were sky high, and Sheila wouldn’t usually splurge if it wasn’t to treat someone like Theo.  Theo just gave a nonchalant nod and turned to walk towards the lobby door.  Sheila followed closely, turning her head to shout at Ellinor, “Hurry up! You don’t want Mr. Blanchet to wait, do you?”  Ellinor frowned in annoyance  Since they had been picked up by Chase and didn’t have a car, they had to ride in Theo’s car to the restaurant.  Sheila was naturally thrilled to be able to ride in Mr. Blanchet’s luxury car  Sheila was excited when she saw the secretary walk up to open the back door of the top–end luxury car, and Theo just stood aside, not getting in, as if he was waiting for something She approached and said, “Mr. Blanchet, why don’t you get in first?”  Theo gave her a glance and said lightly. “You first.”  Sheila’s heart raced. She was very happy. It seemed that Mr. Blanchet was indeed waiting for her to get in first!  Mr. Blanchet was such a gentleman. Not every woman got this kind of attention from a man as cold as him. But he was willing to wait for her to get in the car first. What did that mean?  It meant Mr. Blanchet had feelings for her too!  “Thank you, Mr. Blanchet Sheila accepted Mr. Blanchet’s kindness with a smile, then got into the car, looking forward to Mr. Blanchet sitting next to her.  But Theo didn’t immediately get in the car. Instead, he turned to look at Ellinor, who was standing still. He frowned and said, “Get in.“/  His tone was like a parent scolding a child.  Ellinor muttered, “Alright…”  After Ellinor got into the car and settled down. Theo finally got in.  Sheila had expected to sit next to Mr. Blanchet but was disappointed. She was not happy.  As she looked at Ellinor, who sat in the middle, her mood became more and more irritated. But she didn’t want to make a scene, so she secretly pinched Ellinor from  behind  Ellinor was completely unprepared and yelped in pain, instinctively moving to the side and accidentally bumping into Theo’s chest  Theo lifted his arm to steady her shoulder. Looking at her deeply, he asked in a low voice, “What’s wrong?”  Ellinor quickly reacted and immediately tried to move away, but Theo held her shoulder tightly.  What is this guy trying to do? Let go! Haven’t we agreed to pretend we don’t know each other in front of Sheila?  Sheila grew even more upset when she saw Ellinor so close to Theo. She reminded her with a fake smile, “Ellinor, what are you doing? You’re crowding Mr. Blanchet, move over here a bit  Ellinor glanced at Sheila, then said to Theo, “I’m sorry, Mr. Blanchet. I didn’t mean to bump into you…”  As she spoke, she gave Theo a look, reminding him not to forget his promise to her  Theo was silent for two seconds, then finally let go of her shoulder.  Ellinor immediately returned to her original position, rubbing her shoulder that he had gripped so tightly.  Theo quietly observed her small movements 

Chapter 155  The elevator doors slid open.  Theo stepped out, with Collin following closely behind  Sheila, tagging along with Ellinor, came out too, fearing that Theo might take off and forget about their dinner date  “Miss Mendoza, hold up!”  Surprised by the call, Sheila turned to see none other than Chase striding out of another elevator, all smiles towards her  With a confident spin, Sheila turned to him, grinning. “Mr. Larios, what brings you rushing after me? Is there anything else you need to discuss about the endorsement deal?”  Chase barely gave her a glance, his eyes passing over her and landing on Ellinor, “I’m not after you. I’m after the other Miss Mendoza ”  Sheila’s smile froze. ‘Oh Ellinor, come over here; Mr. Larios wants to see you!”  She didn’t forget to shoot her a glare as she called Ellinor over  Ellinor, looking puzzled, walked over to Chase, “What’s up. Mr. Larios?”  Chase suddenly stepped closer to her with a strange smile on his face, “I didn’t want to say this upstairs with all the employees around… Miss Mendoza, do you have a boyfriend?  Ellinor frowned, “…”  What was he up to?  Before she could answer, Chase continued, “If you are single, could you grant me the opportunity to pursue you?”  Ellinor stared at Chase, wondering what had gotten into him.  But Chase wasn’t done, “Miss Mendoza, I admit, I’ve fallen for you. I hope you’ll give me a chance to get closer to you!”  On the side, Sheila was gobsmacked and fuming.  How could an assistant snag Mr. Lanos’s heart at first sight?!  All Ellinor could do was let out an awkward laugh, ‘Mr. Larios, let’s talk about this over there!”  With that, she sidestepped him and headed off.  Chase turned to follow Ellinor, but not without feeling a chilling gaze fixed on them.  Once they were far enough, Ellinor asked him, “What’s going on?”  Chase, instead of answering, raised his voice on purpose. “Thank you for giving me a chance, Miss Mendoza! This is my card, it has my private number. I’ll be waiting for your call!TM  With that, he shoved his card into Ellinor’s hand, hugged her, and bolted, diving back into the elevator, leaving a very puzzled Ellinor.  Slowly, Ellinor turned around, only to find herself staring into Theo’s eyes.  Theo’s face was a mix of emotions as his gaze fixed on her.  Sheila was furious over Chase’s confession.  But remembering her dinner date with Mr. Blanchet, she quickly put on a smile and asked Theo.  ‘Mr. Blanchet, what are we having for lunch?”  “Eat whatever you wanna eat” 

Chapter 154  Chase let out a helpless sigh “Simple She climbed out of the office window and back in through the bathroom window”  Ida was shocked, “But we’re on the 30th floor  Chase just shrugged “Remember my climbing gear in the break room? Came in handy! Plus, you know how agile she is, this was a piece of cake for her  Ida took off her glasses and rubbed her forehead, “What about the person inside?”  “That’s your secretary She dressed up, put on the mask, and pretended to be busy”  Ellinor is always so quick–witted”  Chase squinted, deep in thought. “Why do you think she’s so against Theo finding out she’s Moon?*  Ida glanced at him, reminding him. “She must have her reasons, let’s not jump to conclusions.”  Chase stroked his chin, “I don’t buy that Theo has no feelings for her. I’ll test him out.”  Ida protested. What are you testing? Don’t get Ellinor angry!”  “You just wait and see. I’ll bring you good news!” Chase waved and strode off towards the elevator.  Inside the slowly descending elevator.  “Had lunch yet?”  Theo’s deep voice echoed in the enclosed space, making the atmosphere a bit tense.  Sheila blushed when she heard that, and she shyly replied. “Not yet! Have you, Mr. Blanchet?”  Theo’s eyes were cold, it was hard to tell who he was talking to  Since it was just them, Theo’s secretary, and her assistant Ellinor in the lift, Sheila naturally assumed Mr. Blanchet was asking her.  But Theo didn’t immediately respond to her  Sheila decided to take the initiative. “If you haven’t eaten either, Mr. Blanchet, why don’t I treat you to lunch? As an apology for my assistant scalding you last night!”  Theo still didn’t answer immediately but glanced towards Ellinor, who was standing in the corner of the elevator.  Ellinor was leisurely checking her phone and wasn’t even locking up.  After a while, Theo finally said slowly “Sure.”  Sheila was over the moon when she heard Theo accept her invitation. Awesomel Mr. Blanchet agreed to have lunch with her!  This must mean Mr. Blanchet had some feelings for her, right? Otherwise, he wouldn’t have accepted.  Just then, Ellinor looked up “Sheila, can i take a break later? I’m a bit tired, I want to go home and rest.”  Sheila, feeling irritated at Ellinor’s interruption, immediately agreed without thinking, “Sure, go home and rest. You can have the afternoon off.”  Ellinor, who had predicted this response, nodded without surprise, “Thank you.”  Theo was upset, Ellinor clearly didn’t want to have lunch with him.  “Weren’t you supposed to apologize? Why isn’t Ellinor coming?”  Sheila was taken aback. While flustered, she quickly explained. ‘Mr. Blanchet, my assistant wants to rest at home, I don’t think we need to force her. I can apologize on her behalf…  Theo retorted, “It seems you’re not sincere about apologizing, never mind then.”  Sheila panicked, “No, no! I am sincere!”  With that, she pulled Ellinor over. “Ellinor, you were the one who scalded Mr. Blanchet yesterday, it’s your responsibility! So, you have to apologize to Mr. Blanchet over lunch, you can rest after that!  Ellinor frowned and reluctantly agreed Alright then
