Chapter 252  Ellinor was speaking in a super aggressive tone, and it was downright rude.  What the heck happened?  A frown creased Theo’s forehead, “Why on earth are you all riled up out of the blue?”  Ellinor threw up her hands. “Theo, I’m not mad at you! I just feel like we don’t need to play house when no one is around, we don’t need to nurture feelings, either. We should keep some distance between us!”  The woman in Theo’s heart, Patricia, seemed to be making a comeback soon.  He seemed to have feelings for Patricia still  Therefore, she had zero interest in being a part of someone else’s love story.  Byran and Haillie were giving her a hard time because of this.  As for that night a few days ago, it was a last resort for her to be with Theo because he was poisoned. She would wipe that memory from her mind, seal it off forever like it never even happened  After this, when they don’t need to pretend to be a couple, she must keep a distance from Theo to ease her conscience!  All her words were driving Theo up the wall!  Till now, she thinks he’s just playing along with her.  She wouldn’t fail to notice his feelings for her if she paid attention.  “Keep a distance? Theo retorted, “Sure, then kindly remove yourself, don’t sleep in my room. After all, men and women should keep a distance, right?”  “Fine! I’m out!”  Ellinor nodded, forcefully shrugged off Theo’s arm around her waist, and bolted, she would sleep in the guest room!  She really left?  A vein popped on Theo’s forehead, he ground out his cigarette, picked up the water glass on the table, and drained it in one gulp.  He lit another cigarette, took a deep drag, and exhaled a thick cloud of smoke, he was seriously pissed.  What the heck was this woman playing at?  Suddenly, the vibration of the phone caught Theo’s attention.  Theo lazily blew out a puff of smoke, squinting toward the source of the noise…  His phone on the bedside table vibrated, which he gave Ellinor a few days ago.  Theo stubbed out his cigarette, picked up the phone, and answered it.  The call was from Belinda  “Theo, are you and Ellinor home yet?”  “Yeah.”  “Is Ellinor next to you right now?”  Recalling Ellinor’s recent behavior, Theo replied with displeasure, “She’s already asleep, what do you need her for?”  After confirming that Ellinor wouldn’t hear, Belinda relaxed a bit, her voice getting louder.  “Oh, I don’t need anything from Ellinor! I just wanted to ask if you guys had some kind of misunderstanding. You both were ignoring each other in the car, what happened?”  Theo said with a frown, “Mind your own business.”  Belinda grumbled, “Theo! I’m older than Ellinor by half a year, okay? And while I’ve only been engaged once and didn’t end up getting married, I’m sure I have way more experience in love than you do! Come on, Theo, tell me what happened, maybe I can help analyze it!”  Theo rubbed his temples, impatiently saying, “Nothing, she’s just pissed for some odd reason.”  Belinda immediately retorted, “That’s impossible! We, girls, don’t just get mad for no reason! Especially a smart woman like Ellinor, there must be a reason!”  Theo squinted, “And what reason do you think that would be?”  Belinda pondered, “Let me guess. Theo, have you ever told Ellinor that you like her?”  Theo remained silent  Belinda sighed helplessly, “I knew it Theo, you definitely wouldn’t say it directly! But if you don’t tell her, how is Ellinor supposed to know you like her?”  Like her?

Chapter 244  Jonah strolled over with a grin on his face, looking at the two of them  Haillie finally let go of Ellinor and turned her face towards Jonah with a smile, “Jonah, I was just thanking Ellinor for fixing my foot I was so stoked that I just kept hugging.  her.”  As she spoke, Haillie turned to Ellinor with a pretend look of concern, “Ellinor, I didn’t scare you, did 17”  “Nope”  Ellinor was pretty chill about it, dusting off her clothes that got wrinkled during Haillie’s embrace as if she had just had a fly land on her shoulder  Jonah shifted his gaze to Ellinor, his eyes squinting in a smile, “I can’t believe you can treat sprains at such a young age, who’d you learn that from?”  Haillie was peeved hearing Jonah call Ellinor so casually and even compliment her. She was steaming inside  Before Ellinor could answer, Haillie cut in, “Jonah, I’m also surprised that Ellinor knows so much at such a young age, she must have learned it back in the sticks! Country kids know how to fend for themselves; they’ve got some mad life skills, nothing like us who’ve been pampered from birth!”  On the surface, it sounded like she was praising Ellinor, but the underlying message was a snide remark about her background  Haillie’s few words seemed to draw a line between Ellinor and the rest of them, alienating Ellinor, hinting that she was not from their class!  Ellinor took the hint but just shrugged it off with a smirk.  Jonah said, “Haillie, since you’re all better, there’s no need to have the hospital send a car.  He pulled out his phone from his jacket pocket and handed it to Haillie, “The first number on the call log is the doctor I contacted for you; now you can call him and explain.” Haillie took Jonah’s phone, paused awkwardly, then forced a smile, “Um, okay, I guess I should call back and explain, I can’t have the medical staff come all this way for nothing“”  After giving Haillie his phone, Jonah didn’t spare her another glance.  He turned to look at Ellinor, his already smiley eyes twinkling with admiration and curiosity.  He didn’t show a hint of prejudice or ridicule towards Ellinor after Haillie’s remarks.  Jonah naturally walked over to Ellinor and casually draped his arm around her shoulder  “Ellinor. I sprained this wrist a while ago, and it’s never been right since. Seeing as I’m good buddies with your hubby, could you fix it for me?”  This affectionate gesture didn’t feel inappropriate, more like a playful big brother messing with his little sister.  Ellinor glanced at Jonah, looked down at the arm around her shoulder, then raised an eyebrow at him, “Are you sure you want me to treat you?”  Jonah met Ellinor’s piercing gaze, immediately withdrew his arm, and said with a smile,  “If you’re genuinely offering to help, I’d be thrilled! But if you’re looking for an excuse to teach me a lesson, I’ll pass!”  Ellinor smirked, “You’re a smart cookie!”  Jonah chuckled, “If you keep disrespecting me like this, watch out, I might tell Theo to take you home and spank your butt!”  At the mention of “take you home“, Ellinor thought Jonah was about to say something indescribable, and her cheeks instantly turned red.
