Chapter 30 Jenny also frowned. She turned to Zeke. After all, the advertisement was placed by the Shaw family. Zeke said, “I’ll go find out what the situation is…” Before he could even finish speaking, his phone rang. Zeke picked up the call and his expression instantly turned ugly. “What? Taken down? All of them? That’s a breach of contract!” “They said they’ll take down the advertisement even if they have to pay the full penalty,” the manager in charge of this matter said anxiously on the phone. “We immediately contacted other companies but none of them are willing to do this advertisement.” In other words, besides the companies owned by the Halls and the Shaws, no other building would provide a surface for the advertisement. “Who the hell is trying to mess with the Shaws?” Zeke asked angrily. “It’s the Valors,” the manager replied. “This matter was personally overseen by Connor Gunn, the Shaw Group’s secretary.” Zeke was shocked. Connor Gunn… That’s Jackson Valor’s personal secretary! Could this be Jackson Valor’s order? Did Jackson Valor want to take down the advertisement? ‘What’s the meaning of this? Does Jackson Valor disapprove of the marriage between the Shaws and the Halls?‘ Thinking of that, Zeke broke out in cold sweat. For just a fleeting moment, she thought that this matter might be related to him and that he was the one who had taken down those advertisements. She then smiled wryly. That’s impossible. Even though he said he would do that, it was just a joke. This was just a coincidence. “There’s nothing to be happy about. Zeke and I are already a thing of the past. I have no more feelings for him, so whoever he wants to marry or love has nothing to do with me anymore,” said Serenity. “You don’t care about him at all now?” His gaze burned into her, as if those beautiful eyes wanted to see through her. “Would you care about someone who abandoned you?” she asked rhetorically. Suddenly, a certain woman came to his mind. It was the woman he should have called his mother. Didn’t she also abandon him? She abandoned him so completely that she never looked back, even when he begged her on his knees. From then on, he swore that he would never kneel down to anyone again, nor beg anyone to stay. Chapter 29  1839 “Who are you calling your brother–in–law?” A voice abruptly sounded. A voluptuous woman in a brown coat and fashionable clothes walked over. When she saw Aria, she scoffed, “My, my, look who it is. It’s the murderer’s sister.” Aria’s face instantly stiffened. She recognized the woman. It was Jenny Hall, Zeke Shaw’s current fiancée. Jenny stepped forward and stared at Aria in contempt. “I remember you. You’re a small–time actress, aren’t you? Did you come to beg Zeke to give you a leading role? Is that why you keep calling him your brother–in–law? You seriously have no shame.” Aria felt humiliated. There were other people in the corridor, and they were staring at them as if they’re watching a show. Aria could only curse Serenity silently. If Serenity had not murdered someone, Aria would have become a popular star by now.. She would not have to go through all this. Aria had completely forgotten that the reason she was able to get some good roles in the past was all thanks to Serenity. “You’re still not gonna leave?” Jenny remarked unhappily. Aria could only smile while looking at Zeke pitifully. If she were to leave now, she would have come here for nothing. “You should go. Your sister and I have nothing to do with each other anymore,” said Zeke. “But…” Aria still wanted to say something. Jenny snorted coldly and told Aria, “If you don’t leave, I’ll have the security guards throw you out!” Aria bit her lip and had no choice but to leave. She would find another opportunity to talk to Zeke. The sweater did make him look more bookish than usual, and less ruthless. Chapter 26  She smiled. She thought he was just joking. It was an ad to celebrate the marriage between the Shaw family and the Hall family. Who would dare to take it down? After a moment, she pulled down his hands, looked up at him and said, “Jack, thank you.” She thought he had said that to comfort her. “Let’s go. I’m hungry.” She took his hand and walked away towards home. Jack’s eyes stole one last glance at the large advertisement before he followed after her. When they reached the rental house, Serenity went to the security booth to pick up a delivery. It was a sweater she bought. She opened the packaging, took out the sweater and touched it to inspect the texture. It was okay; worth the price at least. “Jack, try this sweater on and see if it fits,” she said. It was a blue and green checkered sweater. After Jackson put it on, Serenity’s eyes brightened. Wow, he looked good in it. She suddenly thought of something and said, “Jack, lower your head.” Jackson lowered his head obediently. Serenity grabbed a comb and combed his fringe backwards, revealing his well–defined face. She had always known that he was good–looking, but his fringe usually covered most of his eyes so his face was barely visible. Now that it was, it amazed her. “Our Jack is so handsome,” she couldn’t help but say. “If you comb your fringe back all the time, you would have groups of girls chasing after you when you hand out leaflets on the streets.” He smiled faintly. The way she said “our Jack” seemed to please him. “Why don’t we go to the hairdresser later so that you can get a haircut? It’s such a shame to see your beautiful eyes get covered up all the time,” she tried to persuade him. “It’s not. As long as you get to see them, that’s enough,” said Jackson. One was Lisa Quest and the other was Jackson. “I’m showing Lisa the photo. She must be so envious to see that I have a brother like you,” said Serenity. Only at times like these would she behave more like a girl and stop being so gloomy.
