Chapter 100  “Are you going, then?” asked Jackson.  Serenity nodded. “But…” She hesitated for a moment, “Do you want to go with me?”  He pondered for a moment and said, “I have to work overtime on New Year’s Eve. My boss said he would triple the pay. Why don’t you give me the address? I’ll go on New Year’s Day. ”  “Okay,” said Serenity. But after that, she hit her lip and said hesitantly, “nut some of my relatives might give you attitude. Just ignore them.”  Jackson smiled, “Don’t worry, I don’t care.”  She was the only one he cared about..  The closer it got to the New Year, the fewer people there were on the streets. Many people had gone back to their hometown to spend the New Year with their family.  Serenity’s mother’s maiden home was in a small town outside Solaria. It was not very far from the city, only about an hour and a half away by bus. Therefore, tickets were not that big of a problem.  When Serenity booked the tickets, she told Jackson, “Jack, give me your ID. I’ll book a ticket for you.”  She realized that she had never seen his ID before.  “I’ve already booked a ticket,” said Jackson.  Serenity did not pursue the matter. She took out the scarf that she had been knitting and wrapped it around Jackson.  Is it too short?” she asked.  “No, it’s just right,” he said. The scarf seemed to carry her scent. Wearing the scarf made him feel like he was surrounded by her scent.  “Then I’ll finish it up later so that you can wear it on New Year’s Eve. The gloves will take a bit longer, probably until after the New Year,” she said.  Lisa was originally planning to spend the New Year with Serenity, but after hearing that Serenity planned to go back to her mother’s hometown, she could not help feeling a little worried for her.  “You’re going alone?”  “Jack will be there on New Year’s Day to keep me company,” said Serenity.  “But those relatives on your mother’s side…” Lisa was aware of how ruthless they were when Serenity got into the accident.  “I want to see my grandmother. I haven’t visited her once after I was released from prison. I want to see how she’s doing.” said Serenity. Her grandmother was the only person she cared about over there.  “If anything happens, call me. I’ll be at home over the New Year,” said Lisa.  “Nothing will happen.” Serenity chuckled. “I’m going back to my mother’s hometown, not going to war.”  “Who knows what those relatives of yours will do,” Lisa muttered.  “Don’t worry. I’m just going there to see my grandmother, stay for two days and then come back,” said Serenity.  On New Year’s Eve, Serenity departed early in the moming. Before leaving, she reminded Jackson to be careful “I will,” Jackson said with a smile. 

Chapter 99  1/1  Serenity had lost count of the number of times she had to explain that Jack was not her boyfriend, but her younger brother. However, after the old lady found out that they were not related by blood, she went back to thinking that he was her boyfriend.  “He might not be right now, but he will be in the future. A sibling relationship like yours isn’t real.” That was what the old lady said.  Therefore, Serenity did not bother to explain anymore.  But whenever the old lady called Jack “the boyfriend“, he would smile and respond.  Jackson put Serenity on a stone bench in the park and said, “It’s colder today than it was yesterday. I’ll go get you another piece of clothing to put on.”  “Okay,” she replied.  When he came back with the clothes, he saw the neighborhood aunties surrounding Serenity and telling her something while she blushed profusely and waved her hands repeatedly.  Jackson slowed down. She looked so cute when she was blushing, like a harmless little kitten. It made him want to tease her.  When the neighborhood aunties saw him coming back, they left smiling and laughing. Some winked at Serenity, making her  blush even harder.  “What’s wrong?” Jackson asked while draping the clothes he brought on her.  Her dark eyes looked at him in embarrassment. Her cheeks were red and puffy like ripe apples. He felt like taking a bite.  He looked calm on the surface, but deep down, he was surprised.  It seemed her influence on him was becoming bigger and bigger. With only a blushing face, she made him.. like her even more.  “They thought you’re my boyfriend,” she said softly.  “So? We’ve always known that,” he said.  “And then they said you’re too pretty.” She got even more embarrassed.  “And?” he urged her to go on.  “And then they taught me the “Eighteen Moves to Tame Your Husband“.” She was too embarrassed to tell him the details.  “Maybe you can try them on me one day to see how effective they are,” said Jackson  “You too?” Serenity bit her lip.  He could not help swallowing hard.  Just then, Serenity’s phone rang and she picked it up. Her expression changed. She answered in a low voice.  After the call, Serenity told Jackson, “I have to go back to my mother’s hometown this coming New Year. My grandma wants  to see me.  Her grandmother was the only relative on her mother’s side that made her feel warm. When her father married her stepmother, he sent Serenity back to her mother’s malden home for a period of time. Her grandmother took care of her until she was in third grade, after which she returned to the city,  When she was young, she could only go back for a bit during the winter break and summer break, but after she graduated from high school, she would go back to visit her grandmother whenever she saved up enough money to buy a bus ticket, up until her accident three years ago… At that time, her grandmother’s health was already very poor. She was often bedridden.  Serenity’s other relatives cut all ties with her. Whenever she called, they would ruthlessly hang up. This was the first time in three years someone from her mother’s skle of the family had called ber. 

Chapter 98  She did not notice his body stiffening slightly when she said that  “Do you want to see Jackson Valor?” he asked.  “Not really. He and 1 are simply two worlds apart,” she said, “But speaking of Jackson Valor, his back in a suit looks a bit like yours. I think if you wore a suit, you would look really good too.”  He pursed his lips and kept quiet.  She continued, “Let’s save some money and buy you a suit when spring comes so that you can wear it when you’re looking for a job. Some interviews require you to wear formal clothes.”  “If you see Jackson Valor one day, what would you say to him? he suddenly asked.  Serenity fell into silence. After a while, she said with a wry smile, “I would beg him to leave me alone.  He was stunned. “That’s it?  “Yeah,” she said  “Don’t you want to tell him that you’re innocent? Don’t you want his help to overturn the case?”  “There’s no use. When I was on trial, Lisa went to his company and begged to see him, but he simply refused to see her. In prison, I kept writing letters to him to tell him that his fiancée’s death had nothing to do with me and beg him to stop sending people to torture me, but it did no good,” she said with a bitter smile.  Those memories were painful to her.  Jack’s face was gloomy. Even his eyes seemed darker than usual. No one could tell what he was thinking  “Well, let’s not talk about these things. It’s all in the past. At least, after I got out of prison, Jackson Valor didn’t try to take revenge on me anymore, or I couldn’t have kept working in the Sanitation Office,” she said.  Jack suddenly took her rough, calloused hands and rubbed them in his palms to warm them.  If he had known, he would not have ignored her. He would not have let her go to prison for a crime she did not commit. He would not have allowed those who tried to please him to torture her in prison.  But even if his identity was ever revealed to her one day, he still could not grant her request.  “I’m sorry,” he mumbled.  “For what?” She did not understand.  “Your hands got so cold because you’re knitting a scarf and a pair of gloves for me,” he said softly. Also… he would never leave  her alone.  He would make it up to her. He would give her the best of everything. He would make her the most enviable woman in the entire Solaria. He would wash away all her stains. However, he would never leave her alone!  Over the next few days, Serenity had a pretty leisurely time. All she did was knit and browse the web. She enjoyed a rare period of peace.  Her foot injury was getting better every day. Every day, Jackson would carry her to the small park in their neighborhood sa that she could get some sun.  Whenever he did, the old people there would look at them curiously.  “Young lady, your boyfriend is carrying you here to get some sun again, huh?” sakd an old woman at the park who liked to  chatter. 

Chapter 97  1/1  “I like it.” Jackson smiled and put down the logo he was holding. “Sis, I’ll buy you a thousand sweaters in the future so that you can wear them anytime you want, okay?”  “That’s too many. I can’t wear them all,” Serenity chuckled and said, “Oh, right. I have to measure your hand.”  She grabbed his hand and started to measure it with a roll of measuring tape.  Jackson frowned slightly. He could feel how cold her hand was through the skin contact. “Stop knitting. Your hands are so cold,” he said.  “It’s fine. Hey, don’t move your hand, or I won’t get the right measurement,” she muttered. She pulled his hand back and once again positioned his fingers so that she could get the measurements she wanted. “We’re indoor, so it’s not that cold. Sweeping the road late at night or early in the morning, now that’s cold. Even in gloves, my hands would sometimes po completely numb from the cold.”  A layer of mist swept across Jackson’s eyes as if to cover up the guill in them. Actually… he could easily help her get away from this lifestyle so that she did not have to do this kind of hard labor anymore.  Perhaps, at first, he stayed by her side and called her Sis because he thought it was fun, but now that he felt differently about her and intended to take her under his wing, there was naturally no need for her to do this kind of hand labor anymore  “Okay, done.” After getting the measurements, she lowered her head and resumed her knitting. However, because her fingers had been injured before, they were not that nimble, so her knitting was rather slow.  “Sis, Zeke Shaw and Janet Hall got engaged today,” he suddenly said, “On my way back, I passed by the hotel where they’re holding the engagement party. There were still a lot of people there.”  “I know, I saw it on the Internet. The place was crowded,” she said. Her voice did not sound any different.  “Are you sad?” He looked up slightly, trying to observe her reaction.  “Sad?” Her hand paused, as if she was surprised.  “If you had not broken up with Zeke Shaw, all of this would have been yours, including the grand engagement party,” he said.  “Even if the car accident didn’t happen, all of this would not have been mine. The Shaw family would never truly accept me. 1 would have broken up with Zeke Shaw sooner or later,” Serenity was honest with herself.  Every time she visited the Shaw family in the past, she tried so hard to please Zeke’s parents and his sister, hoping to be accepted as a part of the Shaw family.  And the result? She was treated as a joke. Once, at a party, Joy Shaw even mocked her for getting ideas above her station.  Even after being insulted like that, she still forced a smile in order to ease the mood. Thinking back on it now, she should not  have bothered  The car accident merely opened her eyes to reality.  Jackson smiled as if he was satisfied with Serenity’s answer. “My sister deserves better! Zeke Shaw is nothing.”  “Yeals. If Jenny Hall likes that kind of man, she can have him,” Serenity smiled too.  “Did you see any other interesting news?” he asked casually.  “Yeah, I saw a picture of Jackson Valor’s back,” said Serenity, “That guy is so mysterious. It’s hard to find a picture of him online. Even a picture of his back that someone posted earlier pot deleted not long after.” 

Chapter 96  Zeke walked away from the conversation with so many questions,  The engagement ceremony began not long after that. Jackson Valor looked on as Zeke Shaw and Janet Hall exchanged engagement rings and gave their engagement speeches on stage. A smile flashed across his face.  Tomorrow, after the engagement party photos were released to the public, there could no longer be any possibility of Serenity and Zeke reconciling.  The engagement ceremony concluded. While the guests were offering their congratulations, Jackson Valor left the venue  His Silver Bentley was parked outside. Connor respectfully opened the door for him. He got into the car.  “Do you wish to go back to Miss Lewis apartment?” asked Commor.  “Yeah,” answered jackson as he leaned back on the seat and closed his eyes  Today, Lucas Gomez gave him a surprise He did not expect Lucas‘ latest girlfriend to be Aria Lewis, Serenity’s half–sister,  That woman, in his opinion, had no redeeming qualities. He had no idea what Lucas saw in her.  But that’s none of his business. He did not care as long as Aria Lewis did not cause any trouble for Serenity. Otherwise… he would make Aria Lewis pay a hundred fold.  “Mr. Valor, Chairman Hall called just now to ask why you left so early. He was wondering if something upset you,” said Commor.  “Call him back and tell him that I had a great time tonight, but I’m a little tired so I’m going back early to rest,” said Jackson.  Of course he had a great time. He just saw Serenity’s ex–boyfriend get engaged to another woman.  The car pulled up at the neighborhood’s main entrance. Jackson got off, walked to the narrow door, took out the key and opened the doar  The interior of the apartment was illuminated by a dim yellow light.  Serenity was knitting under the lamp. As soon as she saw him come back, she looked up and smiled at him sweetly. “Welcome back. It must be cold outside.”  “It’s not that bad,” he said. Seeing the yarn in her hands, he asked, “Where did you get the yarn from?”  “I took apart some of my old sweaters. I wanted to use the wool to make you a scarf and a pair of gloves. I have nothing to do at home these days, so I thought I’d find something to do.”  He noticed a few wash labels and logos on the table. He recognized one of the brands. “I know this brand. Their cluthes are not cheap. Why did you take the sweater apart? You should have worn it yourself.” He picked up the logo and shook it.  Serenity said, “It’s not cheap, but the design of the sweater is too flashy. I can’t find a suitable occasion to wear it now. Might as well turn it into something more useful.”  The original swater was designed to be cluak–like. If it was worn with skinny pants, boots, and makeup, it would look quite cool, but she no longer had any matching skinny pants and boots and could also find no occasion to wear it now,  It would just be collecting dust.  “I think I should have enough yarn to kult a scarf and a pair of gloves. Do you like this color?” she asked. The color of the wool was oatmeal, which was a neutral color that was suitable for both men and women. 

Chapter 95  1/1  Her lips were beautiful? Aria was a little perplexed. After all, among all the facial features, the lips were not really something people would usually notice. As long as the lips were not too ugly, they were not that different from one another.  Therefore, Aria could never have imagined that it was her lips that Lucas liloel.  But regardless, it was her good fortune all the same.  She must hang onto Lucas Gomez and become the most popular actress. And then, maybe she could even… marry into a rich family and change her life completely!  Aria could already see a bright future beckoning to her. She falled to notice that, although the man in front of her was smiling, the smile did not reach his eyes.  “By the way, do you know Jackson Valor personally?” Lucas suddenly asked.  Aria shook her head. How could she know someone like Jackson Valor?  Laicas pursed his lips slightly and said, “Don’t mess with him. If you do, even 1 might not be able to protect you.”  Of course, the more important question was whether he would want to protect her.  He would not get into a conflict with Jackson Valor for a substitute. A substitute… Lucas‘ eyes suddenly looked like they were clouded over by a layer of mist.  ww many more s  He had been looking for years. How many more substitutes did he have to go through?!  He really, really wanted to find her. He wanted to tell her how much he missed her!  Before the engagement ceremony started, Zeke Shaw sought Jackson Valor out to talk to him. “Mr. Valor, it’s such an honor to have you attend my engagement party.”  “Of course I would attend your engagement party,” Jackson’s words seemed to carry other meanings. “Speaking of which, I’m glad you broke up with Serenity back then so that she could get over you completely. If you had stayed with her through thick and thin, she would probably still be in love with you right now.”  Zeke felt embarrassed. He did not know how to respond to that.  “By the way, how long will your sister be hospitalized for?” Jackson asked casually.  “A month,” Zeke’s heart sank. He quickly added, “But the injury will take half a year to heal completely.”  He naturally knew the reason why his sister got injured. But even if he did, he had to pretend he did not.  “Then maybe she should stay home for the next six months like a good girl so that she can recover properly,” Jackson said indifferently.  “Yeah,” Zeke quickly said, “I’ll ask my parents to keep an eye on Joy and make sure she stays home to get plenty of rest.“” Having a good read on the situation was Zeke Shaw’s greatest strength.  That was why, when Serenity gut into trouble, he wasted no time in breaking up with her. It was also why he did not confront Jackson Valor despite what happened to his sister.  “I’ll be leaving after your engagement ceremony. Serenity is waiting for me back home,” said Jackson.  Right now, Zeke  no longer felt like Jackson Valor caine to the engagement ceterany out of respect for the Hall Lamily. It felt more like he was worried about… the passibility of Serenity and himself reconciling, so he wanted to witness the engagement ceremony with his own eyes.  Was Serenity… really that important to Jarkson Valor? Zeke still found it incredulous. Had he ever been this concerned for his own fiancée, Mira Hall? 

Chapter 94  “Looks like he’s losing the bet, then,” said Lucas as the comer of his eye caught a glimpse of a person who was looking around in the banquet hall. “There she is. Should I introduce you to her?“!  Jackson followed after Locas” gaze. When he saw who it was, the corners of his lips curled up. “Arla Lewis?”  “You know her?” Lucas seemed a bit surprised. He could not imagine how Arla and Jackson could have met before.  “Sort of,” Jackson said vaguely. “If you care about that new girlfriend of yours, make sure she doesn’t cause any trouble. Otherwise, even you might not be able to protect her.”  “She offended you before?” Lucas raised his eyebrows slightly.  “If she did, do you think she would still be standing here right now?” asked Jackson. “But hopefully she’s smart enough not to do it in the future.”  Jackson turned around and walked away. Aria finally saw Lucas and quickly came over.  “Lucas!” She called out to him.  Upon entering the banquet hall, she saw many public figures that she had only seen on TV before. There were also a lot of A- list celebrities present. Being a C–list celebrity, she could not believe that she was actually attending this kind of party.  She knew that all this was possible thanks to Lucas Gomez.  “You should have called me when you arrived. I would have gone to the door to get you in,” said Lucas as he helped Aria tidy up a few strands of hair that had fallen to the side of her cheek.  All this felt like a dream to Aria. Who would have thought that she would actually get to date a big shot in the entertainment industry like Lucas Gomez?  Lucas Gomez was known as the prince of  ince of the entertainment industry. Whoever he wanted to make popular, would become popular.  She was originally having a tough time during filming, but her luck completely turned around when she met Lucas. Just because Lucas Gomez had taken a liking to her, almost everyone in the crew and the cast had to show her respect. No one dared to offend her. Even the lead actor, the lead actress, the director and the producer were respectful towards her now.  This feeling was something that she had never experienced before.  “It’s okay, I’m here now.” Aria smiled sweetly and took Lucas‘ arm. “I saw so many A–list celebrities today. I feel so lucky. I’ve never seen so many popular stars before. I wonder when I can become like them.”  “Easily done. I’ll arrange a role in a TV series for you as well as a few variety show appearances. You can pick a script that you like,” Lucas said casually, like it was no big deal.  But Arta was left speechless. She could hardly believe her ears. She tried really hard to appear on variety shows before but she could not even get a single chance, let alone a few!  “What kind of role.. are we talking about?” she asked in disbelief.  “The female lead, of course. You don’t like it?”  “No, I… I’d like that a lot,” Aria was so shocked by her good fortune that she did not know what to say.  “Lucas… Why are you being so nice to me?” Aria asked softly.  Lucas smiled and brushed Aria’s lips graily with his finger.  Aria immediately blushed. There were many people around!  But she did not pash his hand away  “Because your lips are beautiful. I really like them,” he said, almost in a whisper. 

Chapter 93  Ever since she was young, she had been trying hard to please everyone. She wanted her father to praise her and her stepmother to not hate her. Even though she obtained a lot of achievements, living like that was simply too tiring.  Zeke Shaw made her understand that she could not rely on anyone else but herself.  But… Jack said he wanted her to rely on him. Serenity could not help smiling when she thought of Jack. Perhaps the luckiest thing to happen to her after her release from prison was meeting Jack  She continued browsing the webs. She came upon a post that said Jackson Valor had also gone to the hotel to attend the engagement party, but he was surrounded by bodyguards who stopped people from snapping photos, so not even the reporters could get a photo of him.  Whoever took a photo of him had to delete all the pictures they had taken on the spot.  Yes, he was bossy, but he was Jackson Valor.  The poster said he risked his life to get a shot of Jackson Valor’s back. Jackson Valor had always refused to accept interviews. He rarely appeared in public and when he did, he was always surrounded by bodyguards. He was a very mysterious man.  Even Serenity, who was accused of killing Jackson Valor’s fiancée, had never seen Jackson Valor before.  He never appeared in court.  Lisa said she tried going to the Valor Group to meet with Jackson Valor to make him understand that Mira Hall’s death was suspicious, but she was chased away and failed to see him even once.  Sometimes Serenity found it funny how she had not even met Jackson Valor before, but her life seemed to be so deeply intertwined with him. Her imprisonment, the reason no one dared to take her case, and the torture she suffered in prison all seemed to be related to him  Serenity scrolled to the bottom of the post and saw the photo. Even surrounded by a bunch of bodyguards, the back of that man still looked very striking.  Wide shoulders, narrow waist, and long legs. He had excellent proportions, comparable to a model’s.  Among the people Serenity knew, only Jack had such excellent proportions.  Jack… His figure popped up in Serenity’s mind. She thought, from the back, Jackson Valor looked very much like Jack  God, what was she thinking?! Serenity shook her head. They were clearly two different people. Jack never wore a suit like that.  But if he were to wear a suit, he would look very good too. While staring at the photo, Serenity became lost in thought….  Jackson Valor’s appearance at the engagement party was a relief to both the Shaws and the Halls. They had been worried that Jackson would not come.  There were many businessmen among the people present. They kept looking for opportunities to talk to Jackson.  If they could form a connection with Jackson Valor, it would naturally be very beneficial to their businesses.  However, Jackson could not be bothered dealing with these people. He let Connor deal with them instead.  Poor Connor was so busy that he hardly had time to catch a breath.  “I heard you’ve been so busy lately that it’s hard to get an appointment with you.” A lazy voice came from the side.  Jackson turned his head to see who it was. The man before him had a handsome face that was cold and aloof, but many women loved this man to death. “What about you? I heard you changed your girlfriend again recently.”  “Yup, it’s true,” Lucas Gomez said indifferently, as if it was something very common for him.  “To think Caleb actually made a bet with someone that your previous girlfriend would be your last,” said Jackson. 

Chapter 92  As if they had never shown any emotion before.  But Conner had seen a hint of tenderness in those very eyes when Jackson was talking to Serenity Lewis on the phone.  It was t  then that he realized his boss‘ eyes were not cold towards everyone. There were exceptions.  “Mr. Valor, the car is already waiting outside,” informed Connor.  “Okay, let’s go,” Jackson said indifferently. He was originally not that interested in the engagement party, but now, things were a little different.  Zeke Shaw, the man who once dated Serenity. Serenity no longer had any feelings for this man. The possibility of their relationship Trkindling was almost zeru.  But… Jackson wanted to be absolutely certain  He did not want the slightest possibility to exist. Tonight was the night that the possibility would completely disappear.  How could he not be interested?  After dinner, Serenity had nothing to do, so she picked up her phone and browsed the web  The entire internet seemed to be discussing the marriage between the Shaws and the Halls today. Although it was just an engagement party, everyone knew that for these prestigious families, an engagement was almost the same as a marriage.  Holding an engagement ceremony in addition to a wedding ceremony made the occasion appear more grand and important. That was why they held an engagement ceremony first.  The two families would probably prepare for the wedding as soon as the engagement party was over.  The news articles were accompanied by engagement photos of Zeke Shaw and Jenny Hall released by the two families.  Jenny Hall wore a white gown and Zeke Shaw wore a white suit. When they stood together, they looked like the perfect pair.  The comments below the article all sounded envious.  “Wow, a rich, young and handsome man and a rich, young and beautiful woman. This is a real marriage between two prestigious families!”  “They look like they’re made for each other.”  “Of course the man chosen by my idol, Jenny, is outstanding.”  A lot of Jenny Hall’s fans were calling tonight’s engagement party the engagement party of the century! It was so romantic!  Apparently, Zeke Shaw booked the most luxurious hotel in Solaria for tonight the entire hotel!  Apparently, Zele Shaw ordered 990 nou white roses for tonight because Jenny Ball’s favorite flower was white roses. Zeke Shaw said Jenny Hall was like a white rose in his heart pure and flawless.  –  Apparently, Zeke Shaw gifted Jenny a villa worth over 100 million dollars and named it the Jenny Villa, much to the envy of  countless women online.  Reading these things, Serenity felt like so much time had passed.  It had only been three years since she broke up with Zeke Shaw, but it felt like a lifetime ago.  Jack asked her if she wanted to find a man who could take care of her.  She once thought Zeke Shaw would be that man. She thought she could rely on him. She thought she would be safe in his arms  forever 

Chapter 91  Jackson soon ended the call and told Connor, “You handle the rest of the meeting. Wrap it up and give me the minutes  tomorrow.”  “And you, Mr. Valor?”  “Serenity suddenly woke up. She asked me where I was. I have to go back,” said Jackson, “I’ve already made all the major decisions anyway. All that’s left is to work out the details.”  After saying that, he left the house. When the foreign executives who were waiting for him saw him leave, it sparked another round of discussion among them.  Connor finally unmuted the conference call from his side.  “Mr. Gunn, what’s going on?”  “Why did Mr. Valor leave?”  “Who called him just now?”  “Doh, that expression on Mr. Valor’s face when he talked on the phone, that was definitely love.”  The foreigners talked excitedly.  Connor could only put on an awkward smile. “Alright, let’s continue the meeting Love? Was Mr. Valor really in love?  Connor was not sure.  If Mr. Valor really was to start a relationship with Serenity, the news would probably cause a major sensation in Solaria!  In her rented apartment, Serenity looked up as Jackson walked through the door. She asked, “It’s already so late. Where did  you go? I was so surprised when I woke up and didn’t see you. I thought you might have met with an accident.”  “I couldn’t sleep, so I went out for a walk,” said Jackson, He picked up Serenity, who had climbed out of bed, and gently pat her down on the bed. “Get back to sleep, Sis. I’m not going anywhere this time.  “Next time, if you go out for a walk while I’m asleep, leave me a note,” she said.  “I will,” he gave her a smile. “By the way, I need to take care of something tomorrow evening, so I won’t be home.”  “Is it work related?” she asked.  “Sort of,” he answered, “But it’s not that important, to be honest. Even if I don’t go, it should be fine.”  “No, if it’s work related then you should go. I’ll be fine by myself. My foot actually hasn’t hurt anymore for the past two days.  I can move around II walk gently.” In fact, he was making too much of a fuss over her injury. He kept carrying her around like she was an invalid.  “Okay, then. I won’t be gone for long,” he said.  The next day, Jackson made Serenity dinner before he left. He also told her not to wait for him and that she should go to bed early.  He then went to the building he bought, Connor was already there waiting for him.  Connor had prepared the clothes that Jackson would be wearing  Jackson changed into a suit and combed his heavy bangs back. He instantly looked a lot sharper, especially his eyes that were extremely beautiful but also extremely cold.
