Chapter 61  Joshua emphasized, “She’s not a third person, and I didn’t cheat on you.”  Cynthia remained silent, feeling like it was a futile conversation.  “It’s up to you to believe what you want,” Cynthia responded firmly, convinced that Joshua had indeed cheated on her. After all, emotional cheating was still cheating. “I’ll say it one last time. If you or Jayleen come to me again over your issues, I won’t hesitate to expose your affair to the public. You need to consider whether you can handle the backlash.”  “What about you?” Joshua interrogated, his gaze locked onto her.  “What about me?” Cynthia frowned, annoyed.  “About you and Mitchell, and about you going to the hotel with Thomas in Nexuria. Would you have gone with them if I hadn’t been there?”  Cynthia was beyond angry. She tried to reason with Joshua, yet he kept bringing up hypothetical scenarios.  Pushing him away, Cynthia replied with a sharp tongue, “I must’ve been out of my mind if I thought I could reason with a dog.  Joshua fell silent.  Just as Cynthia was about to drag him out of her apartment, Joshua strode past her with his long legs and settled onto the sofa as if he owned the place.  He had come to talk things out with Cynthia, but now he was unsure.  Cynthia was clearly not in the mood to talk, and it was probably not a good time to bring up the matter that Jayleen had told  him about.  Despite that, Joshua could not resist provoking Cynthia.  Cynthia looked at Joshua, knowing he was a stubborn man who would not leave easily.  She also knew that reporting the incident to the property management or the police would not help.  They would simply say this was a domestic issue they could not resolve.  After thinking about it, Cynthia decided to let it go and returned to the dining table to continue her meal. Luckily, she was not a picky eater and could still eat despite her bad mood.  As for Joshua, who was still sitting on the couch, watching her wolfing down her food only made him angrier!  Despite the hunger, he drove more than an hour to get here. Instead of getting food, he got scolded!  Joshua frowned and made a phone call.  Yoel, who had just finished his lunch, answered the phone, “Yes, Mr. Neal?”  “Bring me lunch,” Joshua ordered.  “Where to?” Yoel asked, confused.  Joshua gave him Cynthia’s address. “Mrs. Neal’s place is over an hour away from the office. It will take at least two hours, including the time it takes to order and deliver,” Yoel explained.  It was already half past noon. If Joshua waited for his lunch to arrive, it would be almost three in the afternoon..  “Okay,” Joshua replied simply.  Yoel was taken aback. His boss was always punctual when it came to eating, and he could not believe Joshua was willing to wait for so long.  “Why don’t you ask Mrs. Neal to take you out for lunch instead? The food won’t taste good when it reaches you,” Yoel  suggested.  “Whatever,” Joshua said before hanging up.  Yoel understood immediately. Joshua probably wanted to eat at Mrs. Neal’s place but was too embarrassed to ask.  They must have argued!  They were even playing a childish game of who the first person to speak would be the loser! 

chapter 60  “Did he really say that?”  “Did Mrs. Neal and Mr. Neal fight?”  “I feel like they’re getting a divorce.”  Yoel’s gaze drifted over to them.  Those three were so sharp.  The girl who said they were getting a divorce could not believe it and covered her mouth in shock.  “No way…did I guess right?”  Yoel did not show it, but he was shocked by their speculation. “Mr. and Mrs. Neal has a strong relationship. As a member of the secretary department, we should always remember not to pay too much attention to Mrs. Neal’s personal life.”  If these few people knew that Mr. and Mrs. Neal were getting a divorce, the entire headquarters would know by tomorrow.  They were professionally strong in confidentiality but as quick as lightning when it concerned gossip.  Yoel let out a quiet sigh and continued working.  Joshua took over an hour from the company to Cynthia’s house, and it was already half past noon by the time he arrived.  Cynthia was eating when she heard the knocking and went to open the door. She had already decided that if it were Jayleen, she would not hesitate to throw her out.  Unexpectedly, the visitor was Joshua.  “What are you doing here?” Cynthia now strongly disliked him and Jayleen and did not even want to spare another second for them.  “I want to talk to you about something,” Joshua said, walking inside on his own.  Cynthia stopped him and knocked twice on the door. “Can’t you read?”  Joshua was confused.  He glanced at the sign but did not read a single word.  “What does it say?” Cynthia asked, with a hint of mischief in her voice.  “Joshua and dogs are not allowed inside,” she continued, enunciating each word carefully.  Joshua strode inside anyway, pressing Cynthia against the door and trapping her with his body.  “Have I been too easy on you lately, making you think you push me around?” Joshua asked.  “I should be the one asking you that. Do you think I’m a doormat that you and Jayleen can step on anytime you want?” Cynthia retorted, eyeing him with disdain.  “You? A doormat?” Joshua asked skeptically.  Maybe he would have thought she was easy to manipulate in the past. However, since he asked for a divorce, she had done a complete 180. It was impossible to use the term ‘doormat‘ to describe her.  Cynthia did not bother to respond to Joshua’s comment, and she would have thrown Joshua out by now if it were not for the divorce certificate.  “What do you want? If there’s nothing else, leave,” Cynthia asked impatiently.  “Why did you say those things to Grandpa? You know he doesn’t like her. By saying that, you only made him dislike her more. “Joshua finally found something to pick at, looking down at Cynthia, who he pinned against the door.  “What does that have to do with me?” Cynthia asked.  “You caused it.”  “If you want to get slapped, keep talking,” Cynthia said, her tone turning icy.  That incident was Joshua’s dark history, and just the thought gave him chills.  “Cynthia!” Joshua exclaimed.  “I seriously suggest you and Jayleen go get a brain CT scan. You’ve completely lost your moral compass. I’ve never seen anything like it,” Cynthia said.  “What do you mean?” Joshua’s eyes narrowed.  “Jayleen was the third person in our marriage, and you were the one who cheated,” Cynthia replied, making it clear for the  first time.  She had replaced the word ‘relationship‘ with ‘marriage‘.  “You keep coming to me, first saying this, then saying that. Do you really think I’m easy to bully?”  Cynthia put the issue out in the open. 

Chapter 59  1/2  Jayleen reached for the old phone that she had left under her pillow. When she saw the number that had not contacted her for almost a month, her heart started pounding, and her lips turned pale.  Jaylen wanted to hang up the call, but she still answered the call tremblingly when she thought of the consequences.  With a shaky voice, she greeted, “Hello…”  “Why did it take you so long to answer the phone?” The voice on the other end was soft, but it terrified her.  Jayleen shuddered and stammered, “I was in the bathroom and didn’t hear it.”  “How’s the situation progressing?”  “They still have thirteen days of the cooling–off period left. After that, they’ll get the divorce certificate.”  “Are you sure Joshua will marry you after the divorce?” The man’s voice was calm and pleasant, but his tone was intimidating.  “I’m sure.” Jayleen gulped, her forehead covered in sweat. “He has already told his family about this. Once he gets the divorce certificate, he will marry me.”  “Okay.” The man did not seem interested in chatting further. “After you marry him, remember to follow the plan. You know the consequences if you dare to have crooked ideas behind my back.”  Jayleen’s heart skipped a beat, and she felt a chill running down her spine.  Just before hanging up, she thought of something and said nervously, “Wait!”  There was silence on the other end.  Jayleen’s hand holding the phone was covered in a cold sweat.  “Did you have me get into the car accident and ruin my innocence?”  She bit her lip, feeling extremely anxious.  The man neither confirmed nor denied it, only saying, “I prefer to do things myself.”  Jayleen was dumbfounded, feeling so weak that she was losing grip on the phone.  After the other person hung up the phone, Jayleen’s phone slipped from her hand, and all her strength seemed to drain away. She slumped on the sofa, wondering who could have done it if it was not him or Cynthia.  She sat on the sofa for half an hour before she recovered. Then, she picked up her phone and deleted the call log.  After deleting the call log, Jayleen sat there in a daze with only one thought in her mind: she couldn’t let Joshua find out.  No way!  Meanwhile, Jayleen was not on Joshua’s mind at all. After taking her call and hearing her news, he set aside his work and went to find Cynthia.  Yoel came in with a few documents and his signature smile. “Mr. Neal, these documents require your signature…”  “Put them on the table.”  “But they’re urgent.”  Joshua paused in his tracks. His gaze turned icy, and his thin lips parted with a hint of displeasure. “If they’re urgent, why didn’t you bring them earlier? Why wait until now?”  Yoel just stood there, stunned.  He was only a messenger.  “Make them wait so they won’t repeat it again,” Joshua said before leaving.  Not long after Joshua left, someone hiding in the shadows approached Yoel and asked about the situation.  “Yoel, what did Mr. Neal say to you just now? He seemed upset.”  Yoel glanced at them and repeated everything Joshua had said, word for word.  The group was baffled.  Act Fast: Free Bonus Time Is Running Out! 

Chapter 58  Cynthia could not understand why Jayleen was so in love with Joshua and, even more so, why Jayleen needed to prove something to her, especially after already having won him over.  It was truly outrageous.  Jayleen’s eyes showed a determination to take a risk.  Just as she was about to do something, Cynthia spoke up, “If you’re thinking of setting me up by tripping or bumping into me, don’t bother. There’s a security camera over there.”  Jayleen looked over and suddenly felt a chill run down her spine.  If Joshua were to investigate later and find out that she had done something intentionally, all her efforts would have been in  vain.  Cynthia ignored Jayleen and left with her things.  As soon as she got home, Cynthia received several messages from Jimmy.  [Little Jerry: Holy crap! Cynthia, guess what I found out?]  [Little Jerry: Your future ex–husband’s lover is something else.]  [Little Jerry: It’s insane!]  Cynthia put down her laptop and sat on the sofa, calling Jimmy directly, “Did you investigate her?”  “I was just curious about what kind of person could say such shameless things. But I found out a shocking secret.” Jimmy sounded a bit nervous, but he became excited at the thought of the gossip.  “Keep whatever you know to yourself,” Cynthia was not interested in these things.  “Don’t you want to know why Jayleen returned?” Jimmy had found her name when searching online.  Cynthia replied with her usual indifferent attitude, “It’s none of my business.”  “She came back for Joshua’s money to use it to support another man,” Jimmy revealed what he knew to Cynthia.  Cynthia remained quiet.  “I’m serious!” Jimmy had his phone to his ear while typing on his keyboard. Then, he sent a screenshot to Cynthia. “Look at the screenshot I sent you. Apparently, they broke up because Joshua did not give her enough attention.”  Cynthia was even more confused.  She really had no interest in this and reminded Jimmy, “Don’t search for others‘ personal information in the future. Cyber-  attacks are illegal in this country.”  “Are you really not curious?”  “Not at all.”  After a brief conversation, Cynthia ended the call with Jimmy. To be frank, she was completely uninterested in why Jayleen returned or why they broke up.  As long as it did not affect her, she would not be concerned about it.  Meanwhile, Jayleen returned to the apartment Joshua had bought for her and called him, crying about Cynthia’s behavior  earlier.  Jayleen was as pitiful as usual. “I didn’t expect her to say those things. Do you think Grandpa’s impression of me will get worse?”  “Why did you go see her?” Joshua frowned. He had a lot of documents that required signing in front of him.  “D–Did I do something wrong?” Jayleen stopped crying.  “Cynthia has nothing to do with our affairs, and I’ll handle any concerns you have. Don’t go to her again because of our issues. “Joshua’s voice was calm, but tired.  “I’m sorry.“”  “It’s okay.” Joshua’s mind was filled with images of Cynthia loathing him. “Don’t worry about it. I’ll come over after I finish  work”  Jayleen obediently agreed but was upset at how Joshua asked her not to see Cynthia anymore.  Soon after hanging up the phone, the old phone that Jayleen had under her pillow suddenly vibrated, and her face was instantly ashen. 

Chapter 57  “Ms. Shaw came to see me and asked me to plead with you and Mom. So that you both agree to her marriage with Joshua and accept her into the Neal family.” Cynthia set the atmosphere just right, knowing she would not upset Old Man Neal.  Jayleen’s smile froze on her face as she stared at Cynthia.  She never expected Cynthia to be so direct!  “You’d better get her a pillow and ask her to dream on.” Old Man Neal was also a master at sarcasm.  “Okay,” Cynthia agreed.  They talked about a few other things before Old Man Neal reluctantly hung up the phone.  Cynthia told Jayleen the result, who was still unhappy. “I pleaded for you, but Grandpa says you’d better buy a pillow and dream on.” Cynthia was straightforward.  “You did it on purpose!” Jayleen could now see through her. If she still thought Cynthia was actually helping her, she would be a fool!  Cynthia admitted frankly, “Yes.”  “Why did you do it? If you didn’t want to, you should’ve just said so!” Jayleen was angry, fire raging in her eyes.  Cynthia took a sip of coffee without answering.  Jayleen clenched her hands tightly on both sides.  Old Man Neal and Mrs. Neal Senior did not like her to begin with, and now Cynthia had made things worse. Old Man Neal’s impression of her must have worsened!  It was all Cynthia’s fault!  “Don’t think just because Old Man Neal and Mrs. Neal Senior likes you that you can stay in the Neal family. If Joshua doesn’t like you, you’re nothing,” Jayleen said with hatred.  Cynthia replied calmly, “You’re right.”  Jayleen was furious, gritting her teeth.  However, Cynthia was calm and indifferent, with a hint of cold detachment.  This made Jayleen feel like a clown.  “Is there anything else?” Cynthia asked casually.  Jayleen wanted to leave immediately, but thinking about what happened before, she still asked, her eyes red, “Did you arrange for something to happen to me at the hotel?”  “No,” Cynthia replied.  “I haven’t even said what it is, and you’re already denying it.” Jayleen immediately assumed it was her.  “Joshua told me,” Cynthia did not add insult to injury and stared at Jayleen’s face for a few seconds before speaking again, You should go to the hospital and get your brain checked, preferably with a CT scan.”  Jayleen’s heart skipped a beat at the suggestion. She had heard that Cynthia easily diagnosed illness while dining at Old Neal  Manor.  Could it be that her brain had a problem?  “What’s wrong with my brain?” Jayleen asked.  “It got caught in the toilet lid,” Cynthia replied flatly.  Jayleen’s knuckles turned white as she clenched the cup in her hand. If looks could kill, Cynthia would be riddled with bullet  holes.  She hated Cynthia so much!  Cynthia did not say anything more. As she got up to leave, Jayleen followed suit. Then, at the door, she grabbed Cynthia’s arm.  Cynthia recoiled from her touch like she had touched something dirty, asking, “What do you want?”  “I want to prove to you that Joshua will choose me,” Jayleen spoke softly, but Cynthia understood her words clearly.  At that moment, Cynthia felt pity for Jayleen. Not the sympathetic kind of pity, but the kind of pity for someone who had something to be hated for.  She looked at Jayleen and said, “He had already chosen you long ago.” 

Chapter 56  “At the time, I didn’t hold out any hope, but who knew I’d recover later,” Jayleen continued.  She had a request for Cynthia.  “After I recovered, I contacted him and told him about what happened before, and that’s how we ended up where we are now.”  Cynthia replied coldly, “Do you want me to give you an award for that?”  “Don’t mock me. I came to you because I need your help with something.” Jayleen found it difficult to speak, but she also knew that only Cynthia could help her.  She fell silent for a while before finally saying, “Can you talk to Old Man Neal and Mrs. Neal Senior for me and ask them to accept me? I really, really like Joshua.”  Cynthia’s hand, which was playing with her phone, stopped. She opened the WhatsApp group chat for ‘The Seven Dwarfs‘ and  sent a rare message.  [Cynthia: Do I look like a fool?]  It was Joshua before, and now it was Jayleen. Did everyone think she was an easy target to bully?  [Little Jerry: ???]  [Mitchell]  [Everyone else: ???]  [Gaby: Did someone hack your account?]  [Little Jerry: What do you mean, Cynthia?]  Cynthia replied to them, completely ignoring Jayleen.  In her daily life, Cynthia typically avoided looking at her phone when talking to others. After all, playing with your phone while someone was speaking was impolite. However, manners were for people, not for trash.  Cynthia added, [Joshua’s lover just told me how much she loves him and asked me to help her plead with the Neal family elders to accept her.]  The group was flooded with question marks.  Little Jerry was the first to respond. [Was she dropped on the head too much as a child?]  Gaby suggested, [Give her 15 USD to get a brain CT scan.]  Riley replied, [Tell her to find me. I’m an expert at dealing with all kinds of shameless people.]  Little Jerry exclaimed, [This is so annoying!]  Riley added, [@Cynthia, help her plead…and plead hard.]  Confused, Little Jerry and Gaby both replied, [?]  Cynthia immediately understood what Riley meant and replied with a small smile, [Okay.]  After sending the message, she turned off her phone screen.  Little Jerry and Gaby were completely outraged.  Helping this shameless trash with her plea? Cynthia even agreed to it?  The two of them bombarded Riley with their curses and disbelief in the group chat.  “Just promise me this, and I guarantee that when you’re in trouble in the future, I’ll make sure Joshua helps you,” Jayleen said earnestly as if she were doing Cynthia a favor.  Cynthia looked at her and spoke, “Sure.”  Jayleen was puzzled. Cynthia was not supposed to like her very much and should have rejected her requests.  “You agreed?”  “Mmhmm. I’ll help you with the request now, okay?” Cynthia said before calling up Old Man Neal.  Jayleen agreed and could not help but suppress the joy in her eyes and felt that Cynthia was a fool.  Cynthia dialed Old Man Neal’s number, and he answered quickly, “Cynthia.”  “Grandpa, it’s me. I have something important to tell you, so be prepared,” Cynthia spoke softly.  Old Man Neal loved Cynthia dearly and played along with her. “I’m already prepared. Go ahead, darling Cynthia.”  Act Fast: Free Bonus Time is Running Out!  Claim 

Chapter 55  Cynthia did not feel like arguing with Jayleen anymore and simply replied, “Yes, you’re right.”  Jayleen felt hopeless, as if she was talking to a wall. She had  never encountered someone like Cynthia before!  “Don’t think that just because Joshua gave you so much money in the divorce that he cares about you. Actually…”  Jayleen was angry, wanting to tear Cynthia’s calm demeanor  apart.  Why did she always act so superior when they talked? It made Jayleen feel like a clown!  Cynthia was getting annoyed with Jayleen’s constant babbling. She had never been so irritated by someone before.  She used to think that girls were the most adorable creatures in  the world.  Shirley was adorable, and her friends were adorable.  Yet, she really wanted to throw Jayleen out the window.  “Are you finished?” Cynthia did not want to waste any more  time.  Jayleen was almost at her breaking point and exclaimed, ”  Cynthia!”  “I’m not interested in what you have to say. If you’re only here to talk about these boring matters, turn right and take the elevator down.”  Cynthia’s emotions remained steady throughout the entire exchange. Jayleen’s intelligence was too low, and she did not bother to play any mind games with her.  Jayleen felt frustrated.  This was not the scene she had imagined.  Cynthia should have argued with her, preferably yelling and hitting her. Only then could she cry and run to Joshua. Then, he would start to loathe Cynthia, and she would not have to worry about him regretting the divorce.  Jayleen bit her lip and pulled out her trump card. “I have other important matters to discuss with you. Let’s discuss them  downstairs.”  Cynthia said, “Just say whatever you need to say here.‘  Jayleen pursed her lips and did not speak.  Cynthia stared at her.  The two of them stood there, motionless.  After about a minute, Cynthia’s patience wore thin. She entered her room, grabbed her laptop, closed the door, and  3/4  went downstairs.  Jayleen followed her. When they reached the neighborhood, Jayleen pointed to a cafe and said, “Let’s talk there.”  However, Cynthia ignored her and hailed a taxi.  Jayleen was taken aback, and she immediately chased after the car, standing in front of it and saying, “Cynthia, I really need to talk to you!”  “Just drive,” Cynthia ordered the driver, not even glancing at Jayleen. She wished she had bought a car and kept it in the  garage as it was inconvenient for her even to go out now.  The driver replied, “Miss, why don’t you talk to your friend?”  He hesitated for a moment and then added, “It looks like it’s  something urgent.”  Cynthia did not want to, but Jayleen was like a piece of adhesive tape she could not shake off. Then, she looked through the  window and gave it a thought.  In order to have some peace in the future, she got out of the car.  Jayleen did not block the taxi anymore.  Five minutes later, the two of them sat by the window in the  cafe. After Jayleen ordered coffee, Cynthia asked directly,” What do you want to say?”  “Do you love Joshua?” Jayleen suddenly asked. 

Chapter 54  “I’ve settled the discharge procedures. Do you want me to take you back, or do you want your‘ granddaughter‘ to take you back?” Joshua said to Old Man Neal in his usual indifferent and cool tone.  “I don’t need you to help me,” Old Man Neal was still angry with him, and the incident from yesterday morning appeared in his mind again.  He had been oil painting in the yard when Joshua brought Jayleen to Old Neal Manor. After a brief introduction, he announced that he would marry Jayleen after divorcing Cynthia.  Old Man Neal was furious, and without much thought, he slapped him.  He was furious.  He never expected that his own grandson, who had been polite and sensible since he was young, would do such an absurd thing!  “Fine, the car is waiting outside.” Joshua did not say much after.  After a simple cleanup, Cynthia took Old Man Neal out of the hospital.  As she passed by Joshua, the two of them treated each other as strangers, without any eye contact or exchange of glances.  Another day passed by in a flash.  Cynthia had been in Jiverton for two days already. After comforting Old Man Neal, she went to the duplex apartment the servants had cleaned earlier to wait for the divorce certificate.  There were still thirteen days left before she could receive the divorce certificate, and she did not want to go through the hassle of going back to Nexuria.  On this day, Cynthia had just taken out her laptop to work when the doorbell rang.  Without much thought, she got up from the sofa and opened the door.  Cynthia froze when she saw Jayleen.  She never expected Jayleen to find her here.  “Mrs. Neal, I have something to talk to you about. Can I come in?” Jayleen wore a beige windbreaker today, and her beautiful hair fell on her shoulders.  “No, I don’t feel like disinfecting the place after,” Cynthia refused firmly.  Jayleen clenched her hands tightly and could barely maintain her gentle expression.  “Why do you have so much hostility toward me?”  Bang!  Cynthia slammed the door shut, ignoring Jayleen.  Chapter 54  2/2  This mistress had really gone too far.  Jayleen’s eyes flashed with a hint of viciousness. She stood there for a long time before ringing the doorbell again.  She wanted to talk to Cynthia and resolve things once and for all.  Once…  Twice…  After countless times…  The doorbell kept ringing, and Cynthia turned it off. However, she never expected Jayleen would be so  shameless.  When she realized that the doorbell was not working, Jayleen began knocking on the door loudly.  This neighborhood had two households on each floor, and Cynthia knew that people were living next door. As she was afraid of disturbing her neighbors, she went to open the door, feeling impatient  toward Jayleen.  “What the hell do you want?”  She should have bought the neighboring unit to avoid all this trouble.  “I just want to talk to you.” Jayleen lost her usual gentleness in front of Joshua and met Cynthia’s  gaze.  Cynthia exuded a domineering aura. “There’s nothing to talk about with someone who interferes in other people’s relationships.”  “If we’re talking about someone interfering in someone else’s relationship, aren’t you the one who interfered in my relationship with Joshua? If it weren’t for you suddenly showing up, Joshua and I would have had a child by now,” Jayleen retorted, no longer appearing as helpless as usual. 

Chapter 53  “Don’t worry, Grandpa, I’ll take care of it. Your job is to take good care of yourself. You shouldn’t waste your energy and ruin your health for unnecessary people,” Cynthia reassured Old Man Neal.  “Okay. I’ll listen to you.” Old Man Neal genuinely liked Cynthia.  For the rest of the day, Cynthia mostly stayed in the hospital room chatting with Old Man Neal. They talked about this and that, and she managed to cheer him up.  Old Man Neal was very astute and noticed many details in Cynthia’s demeanor and behavior. When they were alone in the room, he said, “Cynthia.”  “Yes?”  “Can you be honest with me? Is your family also quite wealthy?” Old Man Neal asked straightforwardly.  Many things could be observed in how people interact with each other.  Cynthia always seemed calm and collected, as if nothing could shake her composure.  This kind of attitude was likely due to her upbringing.  Cynthia did not hide anything and answered honestly, “Yes.”  “Do you mind telling me which family you belong to?” Old Man Neal did not force Cynthia, giving her the choice to answer him.  “The Yates Group,” Cynthia answered.  Old Man Neal smiled widely and exclaimed, “Wow, that’s great!”  While cutting some fruit for him, Cynthia asked him to keep her background a secret for now. “Can you keep this between us for now?”  “Of course! I’ll keep it a secret! Now that I know you have that kind of background, I’m not worried anymore.” Old Man Neal did not doubt her, and his lingering concerns dissipated.  Cynthia was a bit puzzled. “Worried? About what?”  Old Man Neal was in a good mood. “If you didn’t have such a background, I’d be worried about Joshua bullying you.”  Cynthia’s heart warmed at Old Man Neal’s words.  “I know that kid’s personality all too well. He’s divorcing you for Jayleen now, but when you two are really divorced, he’ll realize who the right person is.” Old Man Neal sighed heavily.  “At that time, he’ll definitely want to make amends.” Old Man Neal could see through Joshua easily.  Cynthia was still cutting fruit, saying, “Grandpa…”  Chapter 53  212  “Cynthia, I can ignore certain things, but there are times when I have to interfere.”  Old Man Neal felt much better and regained his energy.  “What is it?” Cynthia paused.  “If Joshua wants to remarry you in the future, don’t agree so easily. If a man can easily get something, he won’t know how to cherish it,” Old Man Neal said angrily.  Cynthia was speechless. Then, she cleared her throat and replied, “Grandpa, you’re a man too…”  “Just remember that.” Old Man Neal coughed to hide his embarrassment. “That’s all that matters.”  Cynthia nodded and agreed, “Okay.”  Old Man Neal really wanted Cynthia to become his granddaughter–in–law. Yet, he thought if Cynthia were his biological granddaughter, he would never agree to her being with a scumbag like Joshua. After weighing everything, Old Man Neal chose to stand by Cynthia’s side.  Cynthia was such a good girl and deserved to be happy.  Joshua was standing outside the door and was just about to enter when he heard Old Man Neal say that. His brow furrowed slightly, puzzled.  Why did everyone think he would regret it?  Yoel did.  Grandpa did too.  Even Mrs. Neal Senior had said that to him earlier when he went to handle the discharge procedures.  He pushed the issue aside and entered the ward.  When his tall figure appeared in the ward, the room felt somewhat cramped.  Act Fast: Free Bonus Time is Running Out! 

Chapter 52  Joshua’s demeanor was somewhat calmer, dressed in a meticulously tailored black pinstripe suit, his handsome features creased with a hint of gloom. However, the palm print on his face was the most striking part.  Did Old Man Neal do that?  “Cynthia, come here.”  Old Man Neal’s mood improved slightly upon seeing her.  Cynthia walked over.  She was genuinely worried about Old Man Neal. In their two years of knowing each other, she had found him to be a very interesting person, knowledgeable, and not at all old–fashioned.  They had developed a true grandfather–granddaughter relationship.  “I know about your situation,” Old Man Neal took Cynthia’s hand, his eyes filled with guilt. “It was our family’s fault… I failed to educate that boy properly.”  “This is his fault. It has nothing to do with you or the Neal family,” Cynthia comforted him softly.  Joshua was taken aback by her choice of words.  Old Man Neal felt even more complicated, feeling increasingly guilty toward Cynthia.  Cynthia was such a good girl, yet Joshua was too foolish to appreciate her!  “Don’t worry, as long as I’m alive, that woman will never enter the Neal family. If he dares to act recklessly, I’ll end my life in front of him,” Old Man Neal spoke sternly.  “Grandpa…” Joshua looked disapprovingly.  Old Man Neal did not even glance at Joshua, truly angry with him.  Cynthia was also shocked by Old Man Neal’s words, and she consoled him again, “Grandpa, that’s not a good idea.”  “Do you have a better idea?”  “Yes.”  “Let’s hear it.”  “You should stay healthy and lively. That is the greatest deterrent,” Cynthia suggested.  “Is that so?”  Cynthia coaxed, not wanting to upset him, “Of course. If the family of the person I like doesn’t approve of me, I’ll be trembling with fear, and I’ll back down when I hear their family members‘  names.”  Chapter 52  2/2  Joshua glanced at her, thinking that Cynthia had a strong talent for talking nonsense.  “I dare anyone to disagree!” Old Man Neal was filled with anger. “Don’t worry. I’ll support you as long as I’m alive. If anyone dares to have any objections to you, I’ll go and have a good talk with them.  “Well, you better take care of yourself. My future happiness depends on you watching over me.”  Cynthia was particularly good at comforting people.  Old Man Neal agreed, “Okay.”  The two of them talked, completely ignoring Joshua.  Mrs. Neal Senior sighed. What was she going to do with this old man?  “I wish you were the daughter–in–law of the Neal family.” Old Man Neal became emotional.  Cynthia was dumbfounded. How should she respond to that?  Suddenly, Old Man Neal called, “Cynthia.”  “Yes?”  “Why don’t you become part of our Neal family?”  “Huh?”  “I’ll kick this little bastard out of the Neal family. Afterward, you can become the heir of the Neal  family, and the Neal Group will be under your management.  Cynthia hesitated and replied, “Do you not love me anymore?”  “How could I not love you? You’ll always be my granddaughter!” Old Man Neal’s spirits improved.  “Then why do you want me to inherit the Neal Group and earn money for Joshua to spend? He already has shares in the Neal Group and can still receive dividends even if he’s not involved in managing it. I want to be kicked out of the family too if that’s the case…” Cynthia teased the old man, trying to  distract him from his complicated thoughts.  Joshua remained silent.
