Chapter 165 Missing and Kidnapped  After Erin left the oceanfront villa, two bodyguards dressed in casual clothes followed behind her. She turned to say to them, “Both of your don’t have to follow me. I want to go on a walk on my own.”  The bodyguards were a little troubled. One of them said, “Miss Lane, before Mr. Frost left, he said you will need at least two bodyguards. with you if you were to go out on your own.”  “It’s fine. It’s basically all tourists here. Don’t be so nervous.” Erin turned and left upon saying that.  Both the bodyguards were torn. They did not dare to press on and continue to follow her, but they felt worried about not doing so. As bodyguards, they did not dare to disobey the order that Chandler had given himself.  However, Erin had a very special status. It was not too much to even say that she was their boss.  Seeing that Erin had gone far, one of the bodyguards did not hesitate anymore, he immediately called Hans to ask for his instructions.  Hans was picking ingredients with the chef at that moment. Once he heard Erin had gone out alone and did not have any bodyguards with her, he immediately became nervous. Erin was pregnant. Even if somebody had accidentally bumped into her, Hans and the bodyguards would not be able to afford to bear the consequences!  “Hurry up and catch up to her secretly. Since she doesn’t want you guys to follow her, don’t get too close to her. But she has to be within. your sights!” Hans was a little blunt.  “Yes, sir!”  Both the bodyguards immediately went after Erin.  They kept threading their way through groups of tourists, following her.  About twenty minutes later, they saw Erin walking into a restaurant. Within a minute, they walked in as well.  After they got to the dining area, they saw some tourists having breakfast, but they did not see any sign of Erin after scanning the  surroundings.  At that moment, a server came up to them and asked in a foreign language if they needed a table. They told him they were looking for  somebody, so the server smiled and left.  Just as they wanted to head toward the ladies‘ room, they suddenly felt a burning and piercing pain in their stomachs. They subconsciously held their stomachs, but not long after, blood sprayed out of their mouths.  Both of them felt dizzy and weak in their limbs. The sudden occurrence frightened all of the customers in the restaurant. A few kind foreigners immediately got up from their seats and ran to check out the situation.  Somebody shouted, asking for the servers to call the emergency line.  In an instant, the restaurant was in chaos. As the scene made people feel uncomfortable, a few customers put money on the table straightaway and left.  At that moment, a man disguised as a woman pushed a wheelchair out of the ladies‘ room.  The woman in the wheelchair was wearing black sunglasses and a white sun hat, and she was hugging a doll. However, her posture looked a little weird, as if she were asleep.  The man who looked like a woman was Jack, and the woman in the wheelchair was Erin, who was already unconscious.  Just like that, Jack openly took Erin away by pushing her out of the restaurant in a wheelchair.  Everybody’s attention was on the unconscious bodyguards who vomited blood, so nobody had the time to care about the two of them.  Erin was taken all the way to a dock by Jack. A tourist submarine was docked there, and two locals wearing board shorts and sunglasses were standing on the dock.  Jack calmly pushed the wheelchair to them; and without saying a word, they each look one side to support Erin and carefully sent her into the submarine.  The submarine could accommodate 20 tourists. When the two locals walked out of the submarine, there was already a family of four on  the dock. The younger man told them that Jack had reserved the entire submarine, so they could only wait for the next trip. The family then went off to find another activity to join.  After Jack watched the four of them leave, he took out a candy box from the purse he was carrying and handed it to one of the men. 1  The man opened the box and saw a thick roll of cash in it. He then nodded at Jack and shook his hand.  Jack checked out the surroundings, then entered the submarine as well.  Not long after, the submarine left the dock and gradually submerged.  Two days later, Chandler rushed back to his country and came to Liberty General Hospital with an icy gaze.  The two bodyguards had already been transferred from the intensive care unit to a normal ward.  Chandler walked into the ward with Kyle and saw Alan and another doctor in there.  He had learned that the bodyguards had woken up, so he wanted to personally ask them a few questions.  Alan said to the doctor next to him, “I’ll update him. You may take your leave.”  The doctor nodded at Chandler respectfully and left the ward.  As soon as the door closed, Alan said, “You came just in time. The report just came out. I was about to call you.”  […]

Chapter 164 Tipped Off by a Text  Erin and Saber happened to walk by when Sean opened the bathroom door.  Looking behind him, Erin saw Alana in the bathroom. Alan walked out and said while looking a little awkward. “I had something I wanted to ask Sean …*  Her response instantly made it even more awkward for the other three of them.  Saber knew very well that Alana was talking to Sean about Chandler’s business, but as her boyfriend, it was inevitable for him to feel a little uncomfortable when he saw that. He said, “Alana, I think I forgot to bring sunscreen. Help me look for it in my luggage.”  Saber left upon saying that. Alana laughed and said to Erin, “I’ll be right back. Let’s have a proper chat later!”  Sean and Erin were then left standing in the same place. He wrapped his arm around her shoulder and said, “Let’s go and have the creamy spinach soup I made for you early this morning today. You’re a pregnant lady, and if your man is not around, you have to take good care of yourself.”  “You know how to make soup?” Erin asked with a smile.  Sean raised his eyebrow a little. “What do you mean? Are you looking down on me? I’ve told you I’m quite good at cooking. What’s so hard about making soup?”  Erin looked at his palm. “You can’t get water on your hand, yet you still made soup?”  Feeling touched, he said, “Silly girl, have you not heard of a thing called gloves?”  At that moment, Erin’s phone rang. She said, “Go on to the kitchen. I’ll get his call.”  Sean waved and headed toward the kitchen.  Erin walked to the pool outside the living room to answer the call. As soon as the call got through, she said, “Roman, you’re finally calling me. I texted you, but you didn’t reply.”  At that moment, Roman was in his study of his villa back in the country. He was holding a shot of vodka and was looking a little serious.  “Roman?” Erin asked.  Roman down the shot before putting the glass back on the table. He seemed to have made a huge decision.  “Erin, I didn’t reply to your text previously because I’ve been very troubled by something. It’s making me feel very conflicted and miserable. I don’t know what to do to not hurt my friend.”  Feeling confused, Erin asked, “What’s the matter? What happened to your friend?”  Roman said, “I have a good friend who got pregnant recently, but she and her boyfriend are not married yet. Her situation is the same as yours. I just found out her boyfriend is already married, but my friend still had no clue. Do you think I should tell her?”  Erin had not quite connected it to herself yet. She just gave it a thought and asked, “Doesn’t your friend’s boyfriend love her? Why did he  marry another woman?”  Roman was dazed for a few seconds after hearing that, then he said, “Just take it as he has reasons he can’t reveal –  “Is the man also your friend?”  Roman said calmly. “Mm–hmm. He’s also my good friend.”  “That’s going to be tough. Both of them are your good friends, and you said he has his reasons. In any case, if I were her, I can’t accept being lied to like this. What is it that he can’t tell her in person and has to lie to her about? It’s a matter of principle, and it shouldn’t be concealed. If I were you, I would tell the woman the truth,” Erin voiced out what she truly thought.  “But I still have some concerns. I have no idea how it would affect my friend after I tell her the truth. I’m very worried! If you were her, how would you react after learning the truth?” Roman pretended to ask very casually, but his other hand had long been clenched into a fist as he was very nervous.  Erin found this question a little repulsive deep down. Since Roman asked, she would have no choice but to imagine if this happened to her.  If Chandler married another woman behind her back ·  Just the thought of it made her feel suffocated and her heart pounding irregularly. Erin quickly massaged her chest.  Her breathing sounded a little heavy. Roman had been very focused the whole time, so he immediately asked, “Erin, what’s the matter?”  Erin took a deep breath and said, “I’ve tried to think about your hypothetical question just now, and I feel so terrible that I can’t even say a word Roman, don’t ask me. I’ve never encountered such a problem before, so I really don’t know how to answer you. I’m sorry. I can’t give you any useful suggestions regarding your friend’s situation.”  “It’s fine. It’s because I’m also at my wit’s end that I asked you about it. I’ll just put this matter aside for the time being.” In the end, Roman gave up his decision to tell her the truth. Chapter 163 This Is Just Blind Devotion  Chandler spent the whole night in his study while Jazzlyn stayed in an empty room on the first night of her marriage.  At daybreak, Chandler left the Frost residence.  When Chandler’s car left. Jazzlyn was standing in front of the floor–to–ceiling window in her room on the third floor, watching her husband leave. Her beautiful face looked tired as she had not slept a wink the night before.  “How could you do this to me. Chandler?” Jazzlyn looked aggrieved and unwilling to accept defeat. Tears instantly streamed down her face. Her fingers that were placed on the gold curtains slowly curled into a fist.  At that moment, Kyle was driving while Chandler was sitting at the back. Kyle then said to Chandler, “Mr. Frost, we can depart any time after we get to the airport.”  “Alright.” Chandler stared blankly at his phone while deep in thought. He knew that Erin was still asleep at that time.  Since he had already made up his mind, he did not hesitate anymore. He quickly sent a text to her, “Erin, I have to make a trip to Saeypolis for an urgent matter. I’ll return to your side as soon as possible. I miss you.”  Erin slept in, so when she saw Chandler’s text, he was already on his way to Saeypolis in his private jet. 1  She frowned a little because she really missed him very much, but she did not want to pester him like a clingy girlfriend.  After giving it a thought, she still could not stop her hand from dialing his number.  Chandler’s phone was switched off at that moment.  She sighed a little and texted him in the end, “I’ll wait for you. I miss you too. Our baby also misses you very much.”  *  After she sent the text, the sorrow and her boundless longing for Chandler overflowed. It made her feel a little stifled, so she chose to immediately get up and take a shower.  Half an hour later, Erin went to the kitchen to pour herself a glass of warm water and took a few sips of it. She was about to call the extension to tell the oceanfront villa’s butler to send the chef over to prepare breakfast, but her doorbell rang.  Erin walked toward the door. More than ten seconds later, she got to the entrance and saw a man and a woman on the monitor for the  doorbell. When Erin saw the woman’s face, she got slightly excited and immediately opened the door.  In an instant, Alana, who was dressed in a green sundress, immediately leaned in to hug Erin.  “Erin, we finally meet again!” Alana was all smiles when she let her go.  Erin said with excitement. “Why are you guys here in Mufrana?”  Alana winked at her. “I know you guys are here on vacation, so I’m here to visit you! Where’s Chandler? Is he still sleeping?”  She did a great job acting as if she had no clue. In fact, Alana knew Chandler had just gollen married and had gone abroad.  Chandler had spoken to Alana beforehand, asking her to arrive in Mufrana on a specific day and spend a few more days with Erin after that. He would return to Mufrana after meeting his mother. He had also told Alana that Sean already knew the truth.  “Chandler had returned home two days ago because something urgent had come up. I saw his text when I woke up this morning. He said  he’s going to Saeypolis Erin did not look too sad. She was just doing her best to remain calm.  Alana nodded to show that she understood. Then, she turned to her side and said to her boyfriend, “Saber, why are you still standing here?  Hurry up and bring our luggage in!”  Jack and Hans were also standing nearby, which meant that they had already met.  Saber Yale had a tall and strong figure. He stood at 6’2“. He had strong features and a slightly tanned complexion. One could tell at a glance that he had been under the sun all year round. He was not super handsome, but he looked very masculine and had the strong bearing of a soldier.  “Alana, are you not going to ask what Miss Lane thinks? It’s rude for us to just enter straightaway, isn’t it?” Saber’s gaze was gentle. When  facing the woman he loved, the toughest man could also become soll.  Erin smiled and said, “Gosh, just come on in, you guys. Just looking at the two of you like this makes me feel like a third wheel.”  At that moment, someone could be heard saying playfully, “I thought I was an early bird. I didn’t expect other people to beat me at my own game.”  Sean came up to them, holding a food container.  Alana was a little surprised when she saw him. “Weren’t you missing? Why have you suddenly shown up here?”  “Who told you I was missing? I just spent a little time traveling across half of Eupath. I suddenly wanted to come to Mulrana to fish, and I happened to bump into Erin.” Sean scanned Alana from top to bottom.  The expression of Alana’s boyfriend, who was standing next to them, became a little stiff, and his gaze looked cold.  Sean was sensible. “Don’t look at me like that. I just glanced at your girlfriend. It’s not like she’ll lose anything. Don’t think that just because you’ve been in the special forces in the past, you can act like you’re on the job all the time. Who are you trying to scare with that long face of yours?”  Alana and Saber looked at each other, looking a little confused as to how Sean knew about their relationship.  Erin felt that something was not right, so she quickly clarified, “Alana, I’m the one who told Sean about your relationship. We were chatting over dinner last night, then I showed him a photo of you and Saber. Did I say something I shouldn’t have?”  “It’s fine. Let’s get inside.” Alana wrapped her arms around Erin and walked right in. 

Chapter 162 Hurt for Life  Chandler glanced at her indifferently. “Mm–hmm. Let’s go.”  Seeing that he walked off without caring about her, Jazzlyn could not help but call out. “Chandler.”  The way she called out for him sounded like she had something else to say, but it did not make Chandler turn around. With his back facing her, he asked, “What’s the matter?”  Jazzlyn did not get mad that he did not turn around. She said in a delicate voice. “We’re a married couple from today onward. I know this marriage was decided by our grandfathers, so it might be a little sudden to you. It’s very sudden to me as well-”  Chandler turned around and looked at her, saying. “That’s right! It’s indeed very sudden to me. You should know why I agreed to this.”  Hearing what he said, Jazzlyn immediately looked a little embarrassed.  Since Chandler had already told her upfront what he was thinking deep down, Jazzlyn felt that she had to tell him what she felt as well. “I know a marriage without feelings as a foundation is indeed going to be hard for the both of us. But feelings can be developed slowly. As  long as you give me a chance. I’ll learn to be a good wife.”  The glistening hope in her eyes made a faint sneer appear on Chandler’s face. He suddenly moved a few steps closer to her, looked down at her, and said with clear enunciation, “I don’t want to lie to you. I won’t love you. What kind of wife you want to be has nothing to do with  me.”  Upon saying that, he turned around and left.  Jazzlyn’s heart was pounding like crazy as she watched his tall figure walk away.  Chandler’s stunningly handsome face made her heart flutter.  She had never had a crush or longed for a man like this in the past 28 years of her life. When her grandfather, Harold Overton, held up a business magazine and asked her if she was willing to marry the man on the cover, Jazzlyn could not even take her eyes off him!  She was extremely envious to see how perfect Chandler and Alana’s photo was on the cover, and she desperately wanted to be the  woman in it instead.  Without hesitation, Jazzlyn told her grandfather she was willing! She was extremely willing!  Harold laughed and said, “It seems like my dear granddaughter really likes him! Alright, leave this to me.”  Everything went very smoothly. Soon after both their families agreed, their marriage was decided.  Jazzlyn initially thought Chandler might have fallen for her at first sight as well. However, she did not expect that he only did it for his  grandfather.  No matter what, being married to Chandler was a dream come true to her, so, she absolutely would not give up pursuing Chandler!  A man like him would be the center of attention wherever he went, so she must gain an advantage by being close to him!  Harold even reminded her to use her wisdom to control her man and the most straightforward method would be bearing Chandler’s child.  Therefore, Jazzlyn had been longing to consummate their marriage that night! With her face flushed, she quickly walked toward the living  room.  Two hours later, Simon and his father, Andrew, were the first to drive off. The Overton family was also preparing to leave the Frost  residence.  The Frost family saw the Overton family out together, and the Overton family’s driver was already waiting by the car.  Jazzlyn’s mother, Ruby Zanetti, pulled her into the garden and said softly with a slight awkwardness to her voice, “Jazz, I want to remind you that it’s quite tough for a woman when doing the deed for the first time. Just endure it, and it will be over.”  Her mother’s words made Jazzlyn’s flush so hard that her earlobes were also red. She glanced at Chandler, who was not far away, and her eyes were twinkling with the infatuation and bashfulness of a young woman. 1  Ruby followed her line of sight and looked at her son-in–law. She said with a faint smile. “There’s really no helping you anymore. You’ve  only seen him on the cover of the magazine back then, yet you’re already head over heels for him. He almost married Alana at that time. That woman’s family background is very similar to the Frost family’s, but our family is not bad either! We are not as rich as the Frost family. but in any case, we are descendants of intellects! If he’s bad to you in the future, just tell us. I believe since your grandfather and his grandfather are comrades who are extremely loyal to each other, his grandfather would surely take your side!”  Even il Ruby was extremely satisfied with a perfect son–in–law like Chandler, she was still a little worried!  A man as outstanding as him was too striking. It was inevitable to have vixens trying to get close to him in the future. Jazzlyn had high standards, so she had never dated anybody before. However, she was eager to marry a man she had only seen once. Therefore, Ruby could not help but worry about her only daughter. 

Chapter 161 I Have My Reasons 1  Hans nodded at Sean respectfully before leaving the kitchen.  Not long after Hans left. Erin came into the kitchen with her hair dried and clothes changed.  Standing in the near distance, she saw Sean cutting the live lobster’s antenna with a pair of scissors and was deep in thought. His movements looked a little angry, and the lobster kept resisting him..  Finally, Erin said, “Did you forget how to cook, Chel Sean? Is there a need for you to look so resentful?”  Hearing her voice, Sean looked at Erin, who had her gorgeous hair cascading down her shoulders. Her bare face looked so refined and beautiful that he was stunned. Even though he was already used to seeing beautiful women, his heart still pounded when he saw a naturally beautiful woman like Erin.  This silly girl who was already pregnant, was looking at him in a foreign land, but the man she loved was getting married behind her back.  “Erin, I’m a little bored. Come talk to me for a while.” Sean turned his focus back to the lobster in his hands.  Erin walked up to him and said with a faint smile, “What do you want to talk about?”  Pretending to be relaxed, Sean said, “Let’s talk about you and Chandler. You said his grandfather and father still haven’t accepted you. What if they just keep refusing to accept you? What are you going to do?”  This was a tricky question that Erin had been trying to avoid.  Her expression became a little unnatural and her smile gradually faded.  After giving it a thought, she said seriously. “If they don’t accept me, even after I’ve given birth to my child, I’ll just wait. I won’t stop waiting until they do.”  Erin’s stubbornness made Sean feel nervous and his chest felt a little heavy. He pretended to be nonchalant about it again and asked, “If Chandler marries another woman, what would you think?”  It was a hypothetical question, but thinking deeply about it still made Erin’s heart ache.  She said calmly. “If he marries another woman, then what am I? His mistress? I won’t let my child be in such a complicated environment. This still hasn’t happened yet, but if it did one day, I’ll choose to leave Chandler.”  It had already happened!  Sean immediately cut his palm with the scissors after hearing what she said. In an instant, blood started gushing out.  “Gosh! How can you be so careless? Hold on. I’ll go look for the first–aid kit in the living room-” Erin rushed out of the kitchen.  The live lobster had already fallen into the glass bowl. Sean put the scissors down and turned on the tap to wash his wound, looking sullen. His wound hurt so badly that he frowned, but his mind was in a complete mess. He fell so conflicted that he gasped.  Two people appeared in his mind. One was himself as Erin’s friend, who wanted to tell her the truth very badly and did not wish for her to be kept in the dark. The other one was him as Chandler’s friend. He desperately wanted to immediately fly back home, barge into his secret wedding held at his home, and punch the crap out of Chandler. However, he could not!  Sean knew Chandler had agreed to his grandfather’s request. He just did not expect that Erin would become Chandler’s mistress.  Sean suddenly realized that he had been secluding himself, turning his back on many things, deliberately distancing himself from the  outside world, and going on a solo trip to mourn the relationship with his lover that he could not bear to let go. However, he realized in the end that when he got in contact with his friends again, something had already become a very difficult problem.  He did not know how to handle this perfectly. It seemed that no matter what he chose, the damage to Erin had already been done.  “Why are you spacing out, Sean? If you keep running your wound under the water like this, it’s going to turn white after getting all soaked up.” Erin turned off the water tap and pulled his arm away.  “Come to the living room. I’ve already opened up the first–aid kit and prepared the gauze and antiseptic!”  Sean was dragged to the living room by her like a puppet.  As soon as they sat down, Erin’s phone rang. She grabbed it from the coffee table and saw that it was Chandler who called. After she  1/2  answered the call, she immediately said, “Chandler, hold on. I’ll first lake care of Sean’s wound on his hand. I’ll call you back later—”  “Don’t put down the phone, Erin! Hand it to Sean. I have something important to tell him.” Chandler’s voice was clearly a little anxious and cold.  Erin looked at Sean in a daze. Sean picked up a piece of gauze and pressed it against his wound, then he took her phone from her before walking toward the bathroom.  After he entered the bathroom. he locked the door behind him and said coldly, “Has Hans reported to you already, Chandler? How efficient. Are you anxious because you’re afraid I’ll tell Erin the truth?”  “Sean, how did you know about this?”  Sean burst out laughing, then said with a cold expression, “What a joke! Do you really think nobody will know just because you’ve chosen to get married as inconspicuously as you could? Don’t be so naive. Do you think the Overton family will keep their lips sealed? Their daughter is getting married, not becoming somebody’s mistress. Is there a need for them to hide it? No matter what, I’m part of this social circle. You can fool Erin for now, but can you fool us? I’m guessing Roman, Logan, and Alan still don’t know, right? Chandler, I’m telling you, the truth will come to light sooner or later! Unless you don’t get married, people will know!”  Chandler said with great helplessness, “I have my reasons. I will find a suitable chance to tell Erin, but I hope she doesn’t learn about this from you. If you treat her as your friend, don’t hurt her so easily.”  “Hahah. Chandler, I’ve never expected that there will be a time when you contradict yourself like this. Me hurting her? You’re too funny! The person who’s really hurting her is you! I’ve asked Erin a hypothetical question just now, and I dare to confirm she won’t accept the humiliating position of a mistress. I’ve once misjudged her, and you’re also misjudging her now. She’s not the kind of woman that you can bribe with money! I’ll see how you’re going to resolve this!”  What he said made Chandler’s expression turn cold, and the latter was at a loss for words. 

Chapter 160 Concealing the Truth  Erin’s happy and warm smile made Sean frown a little. He was so shocked he almost revealed the truth.  He even started to doubt if the news he got was wrong, absurdly wrong.  However, his uncle and Chandler’s uncle were in the same troop and were extremely tight!  If the time had not been changed. Chandler should be at his wedding at that moment. It was a secret wedding held in the family’s residence, but it was still a wedding!  To avoid saying anything wrong. Sean did not tell her about this. Sean felt sorry for her. Looking at this woman who was immersed in a happy relationship, he suddenly felt the distance between them grow wider and wider.  He wanted to get close to her back then, but he did not get to because his lover, Anna, had passed away.  Once he missed the chance, the woman he once had a crush on but still admired very much at that moment had already become a mother in a blink of an eye.  Sean stared at her belly, which was not showing yet. Even if he did not want to admit it, he could not deny that a small life was already forming in it.  He looked down and sighed. “Life is really intriguing. You’ll miss out on some people without realizing it.”  Hearing his lament, Erin simply stayed silent.  After a while, Sean looked up at her. “Erin, I’m very sorry! I’ve been too absorbed in my own world these days that I’ve neglected you. From now on, I’ll reappear in your life again. Having learned that I’m a jerk who had casual sex with women, are you still willing to treat me as your friend?”  Sean’s eyes looked very sincere but also a little worried. Erin was also very sincere when she replied to him, “Of course, you’re still my friend! As your friend, how you live your private life doesn’t have a direct relationship with our friendship. As long as we respect each other and can get along, we’ll be friends for life.”  Friends for life ***  The last three words she said made his heart ache a little when he heard it, but he did not say anything. “You’re really good at joking. Mr. Dunn. Who am I to despise you? Let’s stop being so polite. Just as you said, you don’t have to have dinner alone tonight! I have plenty of fresh seafood in my kitchen. The chef was originally going to come to cook for me. If you’re in a good mood, I don’t mind having the food you make!” Erin was thinking that lelling Sean do something might help him get through the grief of losing his lover a little easier.  Sean was truly interested when he heard it. “Alright! I’ll do that! I don’t often cook, but I’m quite good at it. I’ll let you have a taste of my cooking then! Lead the way. Where is the seafood?”  He immediately stood up as he could not wait. He had not been eating regularly at that time. Other than drinking and smoking, he had been eating very little, so he had lost some weight.  Following him into the villa, Erin asked with a smile, “I’m guessing your cooking skills are used for the sake of getting girls as well am I right? Candlelight dinner, wine, and flowers. Throw in a little dessert and sweet talking, and you’ll naturally end up in bed together…”  Sean turned around and shook his head while squinting. “Erin, you know the moves very well. You’ve watched a lot of TV shows, haven’t  you?” He looked down at her from the corner of his eyes and winked. “Which part of me do you want to devour?”  Erin was frozen for a moment. It was after a few seconds that she understood what he meant. She then punched him and said angrily.” Sean! You really have a dirty mind! If you make this kind of joke again, I’ll kick you out!”  “Alright, alright. I’m sorry. You said you’ll treat me as a friend, but you can’t even take a joke. Must you be so serious? What’s the point of living if one can’t even crack a dirty joke?”  Sean walked into the kitchen, looking resentful. Then, he picked up the apron hanging on the wall put it on, and said with great confidence. “I’m very worried. I’m scared that you’ll fall in love with my food, then I’ll end up being the man you keep in the kitchen, won’t I?”  Erin chuckled. “It’s good to have confidence. I hope you won’t be proven wrong later. To let you be free to do whatever you want, I’m going to first go take a shower. Call me when dinner’s ready. I’m already starting to get hungry.”  Watching her back as she left without any shoes on, Sean felt his heart filled with an intriguing sense of happiness.  He knew very well no matter how perfect a dinner he prepared for her, Erin would never be sleeping with him. However, he just wanted to  cook for her at that moment.  When he thought of how Erin might sing praises about the food he made, the immense anticipation made him feel like he could not wait a second longer. He immediately went to catch the lobster from the lank.  Ten minutes later, Hans brought two chefs with him and rang the doorbell..  Erin was still in the bathroom, so Sean went to get the door, wearing only an apron without any shirt on and holding a dinner knife.  Hans was stunned when the door was opened while both the chefs looked at each other. Sean said very bluntly, “I’m in charge of Erin’s dinner tonight. There’s no need for you two in the kitchen anymore.”  He immediately wanted to close

Chapter 159 Like a Jerk  Erin, who was in Mufrana, felt a little disappointed when she heard that Chandler had rejected her call. However, she could understand. Perhaps he was busy handling an urgent matter, so he did not have the time to chat with her.  Having no choice, she sent him a text, “Nothing’s up. I’m just missing you. Just carry on with your business. There’s no rush to call me  back.”  Erin’s feelings could not be expressed, so she could only do something to distract herself. She went to prepare a fruit salad in the living.  room.  Ten minutes later, she brought her fruit salad outdoors, and she saw a model aircraft falling from the sky.  It was quite a big model, and it malfunctioned for some reason. At that moment, it crashed into the pool of the villa Erin was staying at.  About twenty minutes later, a white wooden boat slowly approached the pool from the sea in front of it.  Erin had been looking at the sea and was shocked when the man on the wooden boat took off his sunglasses. “Sean?”  Sean was dressed in beachwear and was holding a remote control, and he was just as shocked as Erin.  “Holy crap! I suddenly realized that it’s really a small world after all! I can bump into people I know anywhere!”  At that point, he already rowed his wooden boat slowly to the edge of the pool, and he immediately jumped in.  Soon, Sean came out of the pool, took off his clothes, and tossed it aside. Then, he wiped off the water on his face and smiled broadly.” How great! I don’t have to have dinner alone anymore tonight.”  Feeling curious. Erin asked, “Are you here on vacation too?”  Sean sat down on a chair next to her and grabbed the towel on the small table to wipe his torso and hair.  Half a minute later, he lossed the towel on the ground and said, “Well to be honest with you, I’m not here on vacation. I’m here to mourn a  person.”  Hearing that, Erin sat up a little straighter. It was as if continuing to slouch in the chair was a little disrespectful to the person who had  passed away. 1  She asked softly. “Who passed away?”  Sean looked a little dazed by her question. However, after giving it a thought, he felt there was nothing to hide.  He said seriously, “I’m not afraid that you’ll have a bad impression of me if I told you. That’s who I was in the past anyway… The person who passed away is a friend. Her name is Anna. To be more precise, she was the lover I’ve constantly dated in the past, but we had never  been in a relationship.”  Speaking of that, he deliberately glanced at Erin. As he had expected, she was a little surprised and confused, but she was not disdainful.  That gave Sean the courage to continue, “I learned from the newspaper about everything that had happened after you and Roman went to Fleuverton to shoot the movie. However, I had already gone to Nesharhiel at that time because my lover was there. She had cancer …”  Tears were welling up in his eyes a little, and his voice started to sound a little hoarse. “The heavens must have been jealous of her. That’s why she got a terminal illness at such a young age. I’ve been keeping her company during that time. On her deathbed, she told me she loves me. Because of that, she chose to let me be free. She said that’s the only way she could keep in touch with me for a longer time  Sean suddenly laughed. The tears that streamed down from the corner of his eyes were immediately wiped off by him. He then cleared his  throat and said, “What a silly girl. If she had told me earlier, we might still be able to be together…  Erin listened silently. This sad story broke her heart. Even though she had never met the girl named Anna, she could not help but feel emotional at how tolerant and humble Anna’s love for Sean was.  Anna had already passed away, so Erin did not want to give Sean her pointless views about it anymore.  Her silence made Sean ask in a self–mocking tone, “Erin, do you think I’m a huge jerk? A girl as great as she has passed away, but a man like me is still healthy. In my senior year, I slept with all the pretty, popular girls. Unfortunately, I was young and I didn’t know how to use protection back then. I’ve gotten the girls pregnant, and they’ve terminated their pregnancies for me. However, I heard all of them had gotten married and had children two years ago. As for me, I continue to be with various women, yet I’ve never truly loved anybody…”  The emptiness in Sean’s eyes made Erin feel a little strange for a moment. Her impression of him back then was indeed bad. It did change after she got to know him, but her impression of him being a womanizer never wavered.  Erin felt slightly conflicted after he told her about his private affairs so openly. One on hand, she felt Sean was a promiscuous man, and he did sound like a jerk as well. On the other hand, it seemed it was because he trusted her very much that he told her everything.  In fact, everybody had the freedom to choose the lifestyle they lead, and Erin had no right to make any comments. Looking at how sorrowful Sean looked, she also felt a little bad.  Erin said. “I hope your friend goes to heaven if there’s really such a place.”  Sean tore his gaze away from the sea and looked at her, then he sneered and said, “Erin, don’t you want to say anything about me? After learning that I’m a jerk, don’t you want to kick me into the sea?”  She said in confusion, “Why? You’re not my boyfriend, so why should I care? Even if you are, that’s in your past. Who am I to care about your past? I’ve never been a part of it.”  Sean admired Erin’s rationality and objectivity. Nodding his head a little, he said, “You know, you’re especially charming now. I suddenly have the strong urge to kiss you.” His gaze did not look like he was joking  Erin smiled calmly. “What a sweet talker. If I were single, I might really have fallen for you. It’s not hard to imagine how many girls a man with such a bewitching and beautiful face like yours had tricked.”  “Hold on. You mean you’re no longer single? Did I miss something? We’ve not been in

Chapter 158 Can’t Forget Where You Came From  Two days later, Cherry called Erin from the mansion Chandler had arranged for her. Erin was extremely shocked when she received her call!  “Mom, why are you abroad?”  Cherry was dressed in designer brands from head to toe as she sat in the living room in the mansion, saying with great excitement. “Erin, that’s what I was going to tell you! I already know about you and Chandler! I fully, absolutely support you and him being together!”  Erin’s heart missed a beat. She had not had the time to tell Cherry about her and Chandler. She had only told Cherry previously that she was going on a vacation abroad with her friend for a period, much less the fact that she got pregnant out of wedlock.  She had been waiting for Chandler to resolve the problem. However, Chandler told her that it would still take some time for his grandfather and father to accept her. He asked her to first take good care of the baby, and he would handle everything else.  After that, Erin never mentioned this to him again. She was afraid she would put too much pressure on Chandler if she kept talking about it. She chose to believe him and wait for him.  “Mom, was Chandler the one who told you about me and him?” Erin asked calmly.  Cherry smiled and said, “Of course. Erin, since you’ve found such a perfect man, why didn’t you tell me about it? Chandler was really generous and thoughtful. He had somebody take Gavin and me here to settle down, letting us accompany you when you’re waiting to deliver your child. Your brother is over the moon! After tomorrow, he’ll be studying at the elite school that he used to dream of going to!”  Erin had mixed feelings when she heard that. She was very thankful that Chandler could do all this without her knowing and let her reunite with her family. However, why did she have a slight feeling that she had fallen into a plan he had designed?  He had told her back then in Fleuverton that he wanted to let her settle down abroad.  “Mom, you know that I’m pregnant?” Erin asked, her eyebrows furrowed.  “Of course! Don’t worry. When you come over, I’ll make nutritious meals for you every day. I guarantee that you’ll have plenty of nutrition during your pregnancy!” Cherry held the phone in one hand and looked at the emerald ring in her other hand.  When Kyle told her this ring was worth more than ten million dollars, Cherry was simply stunned. She could not sleep for days. Holding this ring suddenly made her feel like she had become rich overnight. There was no need to mention how happy that felt! In short, she felt  elated!  Erin could feel that her mother was sincerely happy over the phone, and she could not help but feel a little sad. Cherry had been tough her entire life. She had it rough the few years after she got divorced when she was young, and things got slightly better after she met Grayson Then, Erin heard Cherry singing all kinds of praises. In short, with money, everything in life was good and all materialistic needs could be  met.  Erin had not heard Cherry go on and on chatting like this for so many years. She could not bring herself to stop her, so she let her talk to  her heart’s content. 1  “Erin, listen to my advice, don’t think too much about other things. They can wait until the baby’s born. I simply don’t believe his father won’t accept you! No matter what, the child you’re bringing into the world is the Frost family’s eldest grandchild!” Cherry looked proud. She was worried that Erin would not be able to remarry after she’d gotten a divorce back then. She did not expect that Erin would be pregnant in a blink of an eye.  She could get married after giving birth to the child. At this time in age, that was already nothing new.  Erin smiled. “How is it that you know everything. Mom? Did Chandler tell you all that?”  1/3 Chapter 157 Finally Pregnant  During the filming period, Roman had seen more than once how Erin’s eyes lit up when she mentioned Chandler. It was as if all of her smiles had existed for him. As a man who secretly had feelings for her, Roman could only bury his unrequited love deep down.  He extended his right hand and said, “Erin, I sincerely wish you the best! I hope you’ll have a fun trip abroad with Chandler. If you have time when the movie is released, you have to attend the premiere with me.”  Erin extended her right hand as well. “Thank you for your kind wishes, Roman! And thank you for taking special care of me during this time! I promise that I’ll definitely attend the premiere with you! No matter what, this is the first movie | acled in!”  Both of them said their farewells after thanking and giving each other well wishes.  Roman walked Erin to the entrance of the hotel and watched her leave after getting into the car.  He stood in place, feeling as if he had personally sent his love away. Sorrow and endless longing could be seen in his eyes without him  realizing it, so much so that the guests who passed him by dare not bother him.  Roman was a famous, award–winning actor, but even if a few of his fans who occasionally walked past him were extremely excited, they  did not dare to approach him.  The sorrow in Roman’s dark eyes filled the air around him. It was until his assistant, Ken, came looking for him that he regained his senses  and returned to the private room.  Matthew–who was only making a cameo appearance–was caught in a drug scandal! It was exposed online the following day after Erin returned to her hometown because her mother, Cherry, had attempted to take her own life by taking sleeping pills.  After that, Matthew immediately went back with his manager to handle the public relations crisis. He never returned to the film set ever  since, and nobody brought this matter up on set as well.  That was because Roman had told Erin that Matthew’s drug scandal might have been a setup. When the truth was still unknown, the  director strictly prohibited the crew from spreading rumors and gossip. They were a production cursed by scandals, so everybody was cautious and did not dare to cause any more trouble.  Ever since Matthew was forced to leave the set and Fleuverton, his phone had been turned off. Therefore, even if Erin had forgiven him and  wanted to comfort and cheer him up while he was suffering from the scandal, she could only choose to stay silent as she could not reach  him.  Two days later, Erin and Chandler returned to the city, boarded Chandler’s private plane at the international airport, and flew to Mufrana.  Erin was tucked under a blanket on the plane and had just eaten a slice of apple. Sitting next to her, Chandler held an exquisite porcelain plate and was about to stuff a slice of orange into her mouth.  Erin said with heavy eyelids, “I’m very sleepy. I don’t want to eat anymore  “Be good. Finish this before you sleep. You need to have enough vitamins every day.” His tone was gentle and doting, but his gaze was  firm.  Ever since they started trying for a baby, Chandler had been doing the deed with Erin every night, not letting her rest at all.  Erin’s period was already three days late, which made Chandler extra cautious. Unlike Erin, he did not blindly think that her period was just  late. His sharp intuition told him that it was very likely Erin was already pregnant!  Feeling helpless, Erin finished the entire plate of fruit salad before she fell asleep.  Compared to shooting the movie, time flew by even quicker when they were having a vacation at Mufrana. In a blink of an eye, more than a month had passed.  This was the longest vacation Erin had enjoyed since childhood.  Other than the routine video conference every day, Chandler, the perfect boyfriend, had spent all of his time with her that month. He doted on Erin extremely so.  1/2  Erin thought many times that she was only just in a dream. Immersing in happiness completely healed her from the trauma of her divorce back then. It was as if she had never been hurt before.  She got emotional and sighed in secret a few times. Perhaps her relationship with lan was just God playing a joke on her, or it might just  be a test in her life.  She felt the time had slowed down every day she spent at Mulrana. She could lay lazily like a sloth without moving at all. Whenever she wanted food, it would be delivered to her by a pair of attentive hands.  “What are you thinking about?” Chandler was laying on a comfortable lounge chair with Erin in his arms at that moment.  Erin smiled and said, “I was thinking I’m going to be a fat pig before the child is born!”  A sense of gentleness appeared in his eyes for a moment. He touched her belly gently and kissed the top of her head. “Silly girl, you didn’t get fat at all aside from this part  — 

Chapter 156 Leaving the Set  Just when Erin finished shooting the last scene at 8 pm, Holly called her to say goodbye. She was going abroad with her parents as her uncle who lived there had cancer and was already approaching the linal days of his life.  Erin sent her regards and extended her sympathy over the phone. After they shared a brief conversation, Holly rushed to the airport in Fleuverton with her luggage.  This made Erin feel a little sorrowful for some reason. She thought of how Chandler’s grandfather was also running out of time, and she even started to worry if he could watch his great–grandchild come into this world while he was still alive.  While Erin was removing her makeup in the dressing room on set, Chandler was waiting for a person at an upscale private club in  Fleuverton.  Ten minutes later, the person arrived.  Simon entered the private room Chandler was in, dressed in casual clothes.  The style of the furnishings in the private room was minimalistic and clean. The cool tones of the couch and coffee table were what men would like at a glance. This private room was dedicated to letting guests have a discussion or chat.  To put it more precisely, it was for them to smoke a cigar and taste some wine.  Chandler was already smoking a cigar. Looking thoughtfully at Simon, he said, “You’re here. Have a seat.”  “Chandler, what is it that you can’t tell me over the phone that you have to do it in person?” Simon already sat down across from Chandler, looking relaxed.  He started the conversation very directly, making it much smoother for Chandler to proceed with what he was about to say..  “Simon, there are some things I must tell you earlier. Otherwise. I’m afraid you’ll waste even more of your time.” Chandler took a puff of his cigar before he grabbed the Armani bag near him and took out an envelope from it.  Simon had been paying attention to his every move, so it was only natural that his gaze landed on the envelope.  Chandler slid the envelope across the coffee table to Simon.  “I already know about your business. As a man, I understand you very well for having such a condition, but Erin can’t be your cure. Because she’s mine.” Chandler’s tone did not sound like he was warning Simon, but it made him feel suffocatingly pressured and slightly  threatened.  Simon immediately got a little paler when he heard his words. His gaze turned cold, and he asked directly. “Was Luther the one who told  you?”  Chandler’s gaze was fixed on him. “Why don’t you first take a look at the photos in the envelope?”  After he reminded him, Simon immediately looked at the envelope once again. He frowned a little as he picked it up. then hesitated for two  seconds before opening it up in the end.  The photos were taken right at the moment he sneaked in and out of Erin’s hotel room back then.  Simon slammed the photos down on the coffee table, looking slightly angry. “You Investigated me?”  Chandler leaned forward a little and said matter–of–factly. “It’s my obligation to protect my woman. As your cousin, I can forgive your  actions that have gone out of line this time, but there absolutely won’t be a next time!”  After Chandler said that Erin was his once again, it was impossible for Simon to pretend that he did not hear it. Curling his lips slightly, he said, “Chandler, don’t forget you’ve agreed to Grandpa’s request. You’ve never gone back on your word in front of Grandpa before. Are you really going to break your principles for Erin?”  Simon’s words quietly pierced Chandler’s heart, but he remained unfazed and said calmly. “I won’t break the promise I’ve made to Grandpa. You don’t have to worry about that. If Luther can’t cure you, I suggest that you go to a different psychologist. If you need it, I can introduce one to you.” Chandler did not look like he was mocking him at all. He looked like this was all just business.  Simon’s embarrassing secret had been found out by his cousin, so it was only natural that he looked upsel.  Bunching the photos up into a ball in his palms, Simon looked Chandler in the eye as he stood up and said, “I wanted to pay her to help  1/3  treat my condition for me back then. She was surprisingly quite unyielding. Not only was she not willing to accept, but she even hurled curses at me. I finally understand it now. It seems that she was already kissing your ass. Do you actually want such a woman like Erin? Chandler, how basic can your taste be?”  Upon saying that. Simon left the room with an arrogant look on his face.  At that moment, out came a man from behind the partition with abstract designs in the near distance–it was Kyle.  He walked up to Chandler and said, “Do we need to continue having someone follow Simon, sir?”  Chandler fell silent for a few seconds before he looked up at Kyle. “No need. I’ve already shown my hand to him just now. With Simon’s temper, he absolutely won’t go looking for Erin again. You can arrange to let him meet a few women on different occasions. Once his condition is cured, he won’t think about Erin anymore.”
