Deceptive Charades Of Love By Jennifer Oven Chapter 22
Chapter 22 “She kicked me first!” Reed protested, refusing to take the blame.. “I saw the whole thing. If you hadn’t messed with her, she wouldn’t have had to put you in your place!” Mr. Brown scolded Reed. He knew Mia’s capabilities well, and if he hadn’t shown up in time, Reed and his crew might have needed an ambulance. “Why are you standing there? Hurry up and apologize!” Mr. Brown commanded sternly. Silenced by Cannon’s words and noting his serious expression, Reed knew that he couldn’t defy him. He reluctantly approached Mia but hesitated to apologize. With a stern look, Mr. Brown signaled Reed to apologize quickly. Realizing he had no way out, Reed reluctantly muttered, “Sorry,” while wearing a disgruntled expression. Mr. Brown finally breathed a sigh of relief and, with a gentle tone, turned to Mia. This kid’s a troublemaker because I spoil him. If he offended you just now, don’t take it to heart.” “No problem.” Mia, seeing Mr. Brown standing up for her, naturally wanted to show respect to him. “Oh, by the way, you two haven’t met before. Since you bumped into each other today, let’s get acquainted. “He’s Reed, and this is Mia.” Mr. Brown smiled, introducing them. Mia finally looked at Reed closely, realizing his resemblance to Mr. Brown. Seeing the president vouching for him, she understood that he had to be his grandson, which explained his arrogance. “Mia, now that you’ve met, you should know that this kid usually neglects his studies. Since you’re so excellent, let him learn a bit from you. Consider it as if you’re doing me a favor,” Mr. Brown said, taking the opportunity to encourage Reed to learn from Mia. “Learn from her?” ___“Well…” Both of them almost spoke in unison. Mia glanced at Reed and said first, “As you heard, he doesn’t want to, and I’m not…. “Don’t listen to his nonsense. I have the final say in this matter. “You’re a bit older than him. Even if you help me out by guiding him, if he dares to not listen to you, tell me anytime, and I’ll make sure to straighten him out!” Mr. Brown’s words were both a way to get rid of Mia and a public declaration that gave Reed no chance to object. “Alright.” Mia, realizing she couldn’t refuse his request, reluctantly agreed, considering it as repaying him a favor. Seeing Mia’s agreement, Mr. Brown, feeling relieved, glanced at the trays on the floor. He then said, “You didn’t eat well with your classmate at lunch. There’s a nice restaurant off–campus. Let me take you there to try it.” Upon hearing Mr. Brown invite them for a meal, Emily was frightened and stepped back repeatedly. She whispered, “Mia, I’ve eaten already, and there’s something I need to attend to in class. I’ll leave now. “Goodbye, Mr. Brown.” She then rushed out of the cafeteria. Glancing at Reed, Mia had no interest in having a meal with him. She said, “Thanks for the offer. I don’t have much of an appetite today, but I’ll treat you another day.” After bidding farewell to Mr. Brown, she walked through the crowd and left the cafeteria. 13 Chapter 22 Everyone was still in shock, not having recovered from their surprise. Mia left just like that, and people sighed at her courage and dignity. Mr. Brown actually offered to treat her to a meal, and she dared to refuse such a great opportunity. It was truly unbelievable…. “Alright, everyone, disperse.” Mr. Brown scanned the surroundings and added, “Follow me to the office.” Giving Reed a dissatisfied look, he then left. As Emily drifted back to the classroom, her mind was a whirlwind. After returning and taking her seat, she witnessed Mia striding in. She promptly rose to greet her. “Mia, what brings you back so soon? Wasn’t Mr. Brown planning to treat you to a meal?” “I passed on that. Her reply was nonchalant. This revelation left Emily flabbergasted. She stared at Mia in disbelief, never imagining that she would have the audacity to decline a meal invitation from Mr. Brown This girl was something else! Stella and Olivia entered at that moment. Stella glanced Mia’s way, opted not to engage, and settled back into her seat. Shortly after, Ryan entered the classroom with a frustrated look. All eyes shifted to him, but Reed was notably absent. Stella inquired, “Ryan, why are you the only one back? Where’s Reed?” Annoyed, Ryan shot a glance at Stella. “In Mr. Brown’s office.” Then, his gaze shifted to Mia. Stella instantly pieced it together, glaring at Mia with resentment. It was all her fault. If Mia hadn’t appeared out of the blue, so many things wouldn’t have unfolded today. Her idol, Reed, wouldn’t have faced Mr. Brown’s scolding. “Mia, this is just the beginning…” she thought. Emily cast a worried look at Mia. She understood Reed’s vindictive nature. Mia had made him lose. face in front of Mr. Brown and everyone else, so he would surely be plotting revenge. Little did Emily expect that Mia, on her first day at school, would cause such a stir. It seemed that the days ahead wouldn’t be tranquil. Reflecting on this. Emily couldn’t help but regret it. Did she choose the wrong person to be friends with? Mia, however, remained indifferent, engrossed in her book. Until the end of the school day, Reed’s seat remained vacant. Outside the school gate, everyone awaited their rides. Emily, like Mia, approached the exit “Mia, how are you getting home?” Emily surveyed the area but didn’t spot her car. “I’m driving myself.” Mia responded plainly. “Driving? Do you have a license?” Emily looked at her with envy. “Yeah. Mia walked over to her Bugatti and hopped in. “Is this your car?! It’s so gorgeous!” Emily admired the limited–edition Bugatti, reaching out with envy to touch it. At that moment, Reed, accompanied by […]
