Betrothed To My Brother’s Best Friend

Chapter 10  Emily Thompson  A week after the drama between Bryan and I started, it’s now all over the  news….  BRYAN SAMUEL AND EMILY THOMPSON ARE ENGAGED AND SOON TO BE MARRIED- That has been the headline for the past few days now.  Bryan and I has now become the talk of the town. I became the center of discussion for everyone in this country, all thanks to Bryan.  Please, note the sarcasm because, if there’s anything I hate then, it’s me being in the news everywhere and people talking about me.  Brandon and I are now in good terms again. We’re back to how we used to be. Despite him telling me that Bryan wanted me wholeheartedly, it’s hard for me to believe.  Why?  Because Bryan kept threatening me by using Dad’s company as an excuse to have his way with me.  Maybe, he knows Dad is my weakness. Out of everyone in this house, I can. bodly say that, Dad is the first person I love wholeheartedly. I love everyone. dearly but with Dad, it’s always different. And that’s why, I’m still regretting those words I said the other day. Deep down, I know I don’t mean it yet, I ruined the moment.  Back to the present, few days left before the so–called wedding and everyone. got busier than before. Bryan also called me this morning to inform me we will be going for the fitting.  He has this special and only designer and told him to make our dress. Initially, I insist on not going but I end up agreeing to his request.  Wait, did I just say, request?  No, it wasn’t a request. It was more like an order and a threat.  “EMILY! EMILY!! OH MY GOODNESS, HE’S HERE!!!” Jessy announced in an excitement tone as she barged into my room.  Tue, 2 Jan  Clupter 10  Looking at her confused, I asked. “Who’s here?”  “Are you kidding me?! Of course, who else but Bryan Samuel!” She announced again excitedly making me roll my eyes.  “You need to see him. He look so hot and ravishing. My gosh! He’s so cute and-”  “Okay, that’s enough. Stop exaggerating please.” I hissed and got up from my bed to get my shoes.  “I’m not exaggerating. Emily! I must confess, Bryan is the most handsome guy I’ve ever lay my eyes on. You’re so lucky to have him as your husband. That too, he’s got his eyes only for you. Girl, you’re so damn lucky! Do you know how many girls wish to be in your place right now?”  “Get married to him then. It’s that simple”  “I wish I can. But he chooses you my dear beautiful sister. Plus, you both already have a-”  “Don’t. Don’t you dare finish that statement”  “Why?”  “Don’t. Just don’t complete that statement, please”  “Whatever! Are you ready?”  “Do I have a choice?” I hissed and rolled my eyes at the same time.  “Of course, you don’t. You two are stuck together, forever”  After putting on my shoe, I pick up my phone and slide it inside my bag. Ready to leave  looking at me f room but Jessy stopped me. Hey, what’s this?” She asked,  head to toe.  “What’s what?” I asked, raising my brows in question.  “I mean, why are you dress like this? You’re going out for a date and not-”  “I’m going out for fitting, not a date Jessica. Please” I rolled my eyes at her annoying attitude and walked out of my room, leaving her behind. She’s becoming too annoying these days.  Granter 10  At this point, I don’t even know if she’s supporting me or Bryan. That evil man seems to have gotten into everyone’s good book while I’m all left out.  Sauntering downstairs, I stopped walking on the last staircase as I watch him smiling and talking with my parents. Anyone who watch him speak with my parents at this moment would probably believes that he has good intention. for this family. No one has any slight idea of how bad this man is.  I have no idea how he knew I was standing here because in a swift, he turned. his head to look towards my way. Our gaze locked with each other and for some weird reason, my begins to flutter again.  No, no, no. Thai so joy happening with me again. Please, don’t betray me- I tried to caution my crazy heart but it doesn’t seem to work.  Jessica wasn’t lying when she said he looks so hot. In fact, hot is an understatement.  No matter how angry I am with this man in front of me, it doesn’t change the fact that he’s the most handsome man I’ve ever lay my eyes on. He’s deadly gorgeous. Everything about him just seems to be too perfect and I hate him.  for that.  Being so perfect has made him think so highly of himself. He believes the whole world revolves around him.  “Aha! Here comes my beautiful daughter” I heard dad said in an excited tone, announcing my presence.  Sparing Bryan one last glance, I took my eyes off him and turned to face my parents. With a small smile on my face, I walk closer to them. “Hey dad, hey mom.” I said, k*ssing their cheeks.  “Emily, what’s with the dress?” Mom questioned, checking me out from head to toe with a not–so satisfied look on her face.  “Is anything wrong with my dress?” I questioned back.  […]

Chapter 9  Bryan Samuel  “Hey ladies” Sky said in a fake high–pitched voice as he approached us. We’re all at our usual club, having fun as always.  “Fuck you, Sky” Anthon hissed and we all laugh.  “Where’s Brandon?” He asked, taking a seat beside me.  “Busy with work, I guess. He couldn’t make it tonight” Steven answered.  Sky ordered a drink before Anthon turned to face me. “Bryan….?” He called.  “Hmmm” I hummed with a raised brow as I sipped my drink.  “Do you truly want to marry, Emily?” He questioned whilst I gave him a weird look.  “Look, I know you don’t joke with your words but, it feels strange at the same. I’m also aware that, you haven’t been with any other girl after what happened. between you two years ago but still, marriage isn’t something you just jump. into like that, Bryan. It requires a lot of things and, I don’t think we have that yet”  “What do you mean?”  If  “She’s Brandon’s sister. Getting her hurt is like hurting Brandon, one of us. you truly need a wife, why don’t you just find one of those girls out there? At least, if something goes sour in the future, it won’t cause any problem between you and Brandon” he added again.  I sighed as I gulped down all of my drink in one goal before pouring another one into my cup. “Y’all still don’t understand me, do you? You think I was joking when I said I’m in love with Emily? I’m in love with her and I want to spend the rest of my life with her” I said in a serious tone.  They don’t seem to take me seriously. Maybe, it’s because I didn’t show how serious I’m concerning this issue.  “Well, if you love her that much then, I give you my blessing. I wish you both all the best‘ Sky said, raising his glass of drink for a toast.  Fuck you, man l’hissed and toast with him.  Yeah, we wish you all the best, man” Steven said too.  nod my head and at the same time, feel my phone vibrate in my pocket.  It was a message from Jessica.  “Hey, handsome brother–in–law, Care to join us for a fitting? The designer just called now to tell me your wife’s dress is ready so, we’re going for fitting“– the  text says.  I can’t help but to reply her immediately. “Address?”  I don’t know why but, the eagerness to see her just erupted in me out of the blue after seeing the text. This is also a chance for me to know how she’s fairing now. Her brother told me she fell sick a few days ago even though, she’s fine now. But, I never called her and that’s because I know she would never pick up my calls. Instead. I decided to always ask after her through Brandon. and Jessica.  She texted me the address almost immediately and I jumped up from my  seat.  “Hey, where are you going?” Steven ask.  “To Emily.”  “What? Why? Is everything okay with her?” Anthon looks worried as he asks.  “Yeah, everything is fine. I gotta go” I gulp down my drink one last time before rushing out of the club.  I got to the location before them and decided to wait for them in my car. I can’t help but imagine the look on her face when she arrives and sees me here.  She will be shocked, right?  I bet so.  Waiting there for like what seemed forever, a familiar car dove in… It was Brandon’s.  got out of my car and leaned on it. I don’t know why but for some weird reason. I’m so eager to see the look on her face when she comes out of that car to see me standing here.  And, just like I had predicted. As she hopped down from her brother’s car, her eyes almost popped out of its socket when she saw me.  “Y… You?!!” She said, walking closer to me.  “Yes, me” I replied, arrogantly and smiling too.  “What are you doing here?! Aren’t you supposed to be in Los Angeles by now?”  She’s right. I was here for Fred’s wedding but what she doesn’t know is, the actual reason that brought me here was her.  I intend to seize the opportunity of her break up with her boyfriend to make her mine. The fact that I’ve always known he was cheating on her with her best friend for years yet, I didn’t bother to make it known to her.  I would have done that if I had wanted to but, It’s just… Somewhat interesting. and funny to watch.  I’ve been waiting for the right time to claim her as mine and now, is the time. to do that. There’s no way I’m going to forget how perfect she looked under me on the bed years ago. She wouldn’t stop screaming my name and begging for more.  I would be lying if I said, I wasn’t surprised to be her first. Many girls of her age, would have slept with tons of men already. I could have stopped us from having anything together that night but, I just couldn’t control myself. There’s just this weird thing I felt when she was around me.  She left the next following morning even before I woke up and I wasn’t even bothered. All my thought was, she’s going to be like those one–night stand girls as usual. I wasn’t bothered about her even though, I couldn’t stop remembering what happened between us that night. How her slim, warm hands roam all through my b*dy and how perfect and innocent she looks under me.  I continued my playboy ways as usual but, whenever I tried to have something to do with other girls, all I saw was her innocent face. I couldn’t do a single thing properly without calling her name or having her thoughts in my head.  The torture continued for almost 2 years before I realized how much I loved her. It took me long and when I did, she was already in a relationship with someone else. I felt it would be hard to claim her as mine and give her some 

Chapter 8  Emily Thompson  It’s been three days after the announcement of my wedding to Bryan. After telling my family I agreed to marry him, the wedding preparations began. Everyone has been  busy, especially Mom, she  seems so happy about the  whole thing.  Jessica as always, has been very supportive too, helping out with one or two things,  especially the wedding dress. She made sure to focus on that part. Janet is always hard to see  11:54  Chapter 8  around in the house. It’s either she comes back home late or, gives excuses with work.  Well, I’m not bothered. After all, the whole thing is nothing but fake. Deep down, I know Bryan felt nothing serious for me. He was only lying and deceiving my family that he loved me.  He said it already, that he would never be used and get dumped. It will only be over if he said so. I’m also aware that, all he wanted was just to get another taste of me but he wished. Nothing as such is going to happen between us  213  11:54  Moll 33  Chapter 8  ever again.  He claimed he loved me yet, he hasn’t called not even once since the last day he visited our house.  I’m sure, Brandon told him about what happened to me yet, I didn’t even get a text from him. Yet, he said he loves  Liar!  Brandon on the other hand, has been giving me cold shoulder for the past few days now. I don’t know how else to make him understand me. He believes every word of that liar  3/13  11:54  Chapter 8  Vil (33  over his sister. I’m also aware  that I took it far while arguing  with him the other day but still, that doesn’t mean I’m wrong.  “Emily, the designer just called now. He said the dresses are ready” Jessy announced the moment she walked into my room. She look so excited.  “And why are you telling me? Only you went to him to discuss how to make the  dresses so, why involve me  now?” I asked with a raised brow before focusing back on my phone.  4/13  Dreame  11:54  LTED  Se vi ut ull (33  Chapter 8  I’m not interested in this and never will I be.  This is not how I have planned to have my wedding. I wanted to be with the man who loved me. A man who cares so much about me. I wanted a baby girl lifestyle, where my man treat me like an egg but, all I’ve dreamt of, nothing as such is happening. This is not the kind of wedding I have wished for myself.  “Young lady, whatever crazy thought is running through your mind right now, I don’t care and I don’t wish to know. All I know is, you’re coming  5/13  11:54  Chapter 8  with me to the designer’s place  and that’s final” She insist, finality laced in her tone.  I gave her a sharp look before rolling my eyes. “Madame, stop acting like my mom. It doesn’t suit you”  “Well, I’m glad you see the category of our mom in me and I’m sure, you know what mom’s next action is going to be. Imagine me trying to mimic Mom, You of all people know what next she’s going to do to you after talking to you nicely, right? So, now get up, and let’s go”  6/13  11:54  Chapter 8  “I hate you!” 

Chapter 7  Emily Thompson  “W… What are you trying to do?” I asked, stuttering.  He didn’t reply, he only moved closer and now standing right close to me. I shut my eyes tightly, afraid he was going to hit me or something but instead, I felt a sharp tap on my forehead.  “Ouch!” I yelp and rub where he just hit. Opening my eyes slowly, I watch him sigh before taking a seat close to me and embracing me in a tight hug.  1/14  11:52  Chapter 7  : the ut all 33  “Brandon….” I called out his  name, trailing off. His hug this  time around was kind of  different. I felt like, he was  trying to pass a message to me through the hug.  “Don’t try this again next time. You scared me to death. I  thought… I thought I made a mistake saying yes to Bryan’s request”  I broke the hug and stared at him confused. “What are you talking about?” I asked but he sighed again.  “I’m not allowed to say this to you as it was meant to be a  2/14  11:53  Chapter 7  Me at all  secret between Bryan and I but, I just can’t help it.”  Judging from the look on his face, he looks sad and down.  “Hey, what are you talking about?” I asked, holding his hands and caressing them.  “I was the one who suggested he make a marriage proposal to Dad”  I instantly let go of his hand. “What?!!”  “Emily please, listen to me, okay? I have my reasons for doing that”  11:53 Chapter 7  “I still don’t understand what  you’re trying to say. You were the one who told Bryan to marry me? You’re trying to force me on him or what? And also, what about the part where he told Mom and Dad he’s in love with me? Was it all lies too? Are you also aware that he threatened not to help Dad if I don’t marry him?” I bombard him with questions.  “I’m sorry, Emily ” he apologized again.  Sorry? Is this a way of telling, it’s all planned work or what?  “What exactly are you sorry  4/14  11:53  Chapter 7  for, I still don’t understand  you”  Right now, I’m confused. Because Whatever he’s saying right now makes no sense to me at all.  “Firstly, Bryan is truly in love with you. He wants you as his woman. I know, it took him a long before he realized that but believe me when I say, he does care about you. After what happened between you two, years ago, he has never been with any other woman, and also-”  “Wait, Brandon.” I cut him off,  5/14  11:53 Chapter 7  chuckling. “You expect me to believe what you just said now? Bryan haven’t been with another woman after having a one–night stand with me?! The same Casanova guy we both know he is?! What about the girls we see with him on television and Magazines?”  “You should have known by now”  “That…?”  “The paparazzi would do all it takes to make money through Bryan. He stopped being with other girls. It’s either they’re business partners or, just  6/14 

Chapter 6  Emily Thompson  Opening my eyes slowly, I heard some voices around me.  Familiar voices.  “Oh my goodness! She’s awake I heard a familiar voice say in  an excited tone. The bed I was laying on dipped in as I felt someone’s weight on it.  “Emily, can you hear me?”  “Mom” I tried sitting up but she stopped me.  “Don’t move yet, you’re still not  11:51  Chapter 6  Mol  strong yet” I heard her say but I’m too stubborn to listen to her. I ended up sitting whilst she placed a small pillow behind my back to rest on.  “What happened? Why am I here on my bed and, what’s with the look on your faces?” I asked, looking at them confused.  They all held this worried look on their faces.  Jessica leaned closer to me and hugged me tightly. “You crazy girl, you scared me. I thought… I thought I had lost you” she said, anxiety laced in her voice  2/16  11:51  Chapter 6  as she spoke.  F: Hulull (33  “You still haven’t told me what’s  going on yet” I said, breaking our hug whilst I looked into her eyes. Aside from the fact that Bryan threatened me and left. I can’t remember any other thing again.  My brain is just not  functioning well right now. Did something happen to me? Did I try to commit suicide?  No! No! No!! No!!! There’s no way I’m going to do something as that absurd.  “Well… Apparently, you fainted just immediately after Bryan  3/16  11:51  Chapter 6  Me at all  left here” Janet said in her high–pitched voice. “Also, the doctor said you’re now an ulcer patient. What are you though?  A kid? It’s not like we’re  starving you in this house so, I wonder where you suddenly developed an ulcer from” she added in a mocking and annoyed tone.  “Okay, that’s enough, Janet.” Dad tried stopping her from saying anything hurtful to me while Jessica and I only sighed in return. I don’t know why I always get this hurtful and mean attitude from her.  Nevertheless, I should have  4/16  11:51  Chapter 6  53  gotten used to it by now. After all, this is not the first time she will treat me this badly.  My gaze also fell on Brandon who has been quiet ever since I woke up. He hasn’t said a word to me. He just stood at the corner of the room, his hands folded across each other on his chest, and had this cold look on his face.  For the first time, I couldn’t read his mind or know what exactly was going through his head right now.  “Whatever!” She rolled her eyes and walked out of the  5/16  11:51  Chapter 6  room.  With my gaze still fixed on her retreating back, I felt a soft hand on my shoulder. 

Chapter 5  Emily Thompson  “Aren’t you full of yourself?” I shot her a glare as I asked that. I’ve had enough of her bullying. She always believed it was right for her to treat me like a piece of trash which I always ignore but today, I’m never going to allow her to step on me the way she wants.  “What?” She looked surprised.  This is the first time in my  entire life I stood up for myself before her.  “You did not just say that to  1/13  11:50  Chapter 5  me, did you?”  F: Hulull (33  “Stop making it look like the whole world revolves around you. Please, I beg of you, Janet….” I trailed off, clapping both of my hands together. “I do not want to have any clashes with you. I’m leaving this house for good and I’m never going to come back so please, kindly stay out of this. It has nothing to do with you! This… Whatever is going on right now, has nothing to do with you” I added as I tried picking my clothes from the floor before I heard her make a wicked laugh.  11:50  Chapter 5  “I’m glad you know that you belong here. You never do and neither will that happen any-” Before she could finish her  statement, the door burst open and Bryan walked in.  “What are you doing here?” I asked angrily. Before he reply, some giant men in suits walked in and stood still like a robot.  What are they doing here? “I ask him again.  “To help you pack your stuff. You’re leaving, right?”  “What?!” Both Janet and I said at the same time. ” Bryan, what are you doing? She doesn’t  3/13  11:50  Chapter 5  even deserve all these ges-”  Please Janet, stay out of this” he cut her off. He turned to face her and said. “Can you  excuse us? I would love to talk to her privately”  But she-”  Now” he said, shortly.  Passing me a very deadly glare for the last time, Janet walked out of my room.  “I don’t know what you’re planning but whatever thing it’s, leave me out of it. Please, stay away from me and my family”  4/13  11:50  Chapter 5  : Yol (35  “The same family you intend leaving behind to bear their cross alone? Despite everything this family has done for you yet, you couldn’t help them during the crisis they found themselves in”  My heart skipped and I felt something strike my chest as he said that. I can’t believe he’s also calling me an ingrate. First, it was Janet, and now, him?  You think, you have the right to make me feel bad? If there’s a devil here then, it’s you! The fact that you couldn’t help my family without asking for  12  11:50  Chapter 5  Yo  Gull 33  another thing in return? That’s rich coming out of you”  expected him to give a reply to what I just said but what he said next made me boil more in anger.  “You have two options, Emily.  wife and your Dad’s 

Chapter 4  Emily Thompson  “Are y’all just going to sit and keep staring at me or, you’ll say something?!” I asked, anger laced in my voice.  Brandon, Janet, Jessica and I just got back home and I confronted them concerning what Bryan told me earlier at the wedding but, they’ve all been quite.  Both my parents and Brandon.  No one is ready to say a word. Right now, they all look like a five years old child caught  1/17  11:49  Chapter 4  Mo Full 33  stealing meat in the pot.  On our way home, my siblings kept asking what’s the problem because I’ve been quiet all through our ride back home yet, I didn’t say a word.  “Say something guys and stop acting all mute out of blue!!” I busted out again angrily as I fought the threatening tears that were about to sl*p out of  my eyes.  I really do not know if all these are true or not but, I want to know why they are doing this to me if it were to be true? Was it because I’m not their  2/17  11:49  Chapter 4  biological daughter? Or, because I’m not related to them by blood?  “Okay, that’s enough of your nonsense already, Emily. I won’t sit hear and watch you talk to my parents in such a manner” Janet remark, glaring hard at me.  Up till date, I have no idea what she have for me in her heart. Was it hatred, anger or love? I have no idea because one moment, she’s nice to me and another moment, I feel like all she wanted is to  strangle me to death. Like she hates me or something.  3/17  11:49  Chapter 4  “I’m not disrespecting them, can’t you see?! Hearing from an outsider that your wedding has been fixed with someone and you have no any idea about it could be the worst feeling ever. I feel like I don’t belong to this family in any way. Can’t you see my pain?!  “I don’t know what nonsense you’re blabbing about but, why in the world would mom and dad fixed your wedding with the same guy we all do not want you to have anything to do with?” She asked with a raised brow. Her hands fold  across her chest.  4/17  11:49  Chapter 4  Moll (33)  “Exactly my point too. That’s why I’m asking them to tell me the truth now but, as you can see, they all have suddenly become mute. No one is ready to say a word!”  “Mom, Dad, please say something. What’s going on?”  Jessica asked them.  Mom looked at me and suddenly burst into tears.  I don’t know why but my heart skipped in a weird way. Right in my mind, I was hoping it’s better not be what I’m  thinking.  5/17  11:49  Chapter 4  ‘It all started some years ago… Dad begin as a heavy sigh left his l*p. He look so down and unhappy. Not only him but mom and Brandon too. “My company suddenly stopped growing and we almost went bankrupt. I decided to take a loan from a friend of mine. A very huge amount of money to get back to feet again with the promise that, I was going to pay him back.”  “I tried. I really tried my best paying back the loan I took from him little by little but at some point, I got stucked.  Because out of blue, he wanted  6/17  11:49  Chapter 4  7: Mo Yell (33)  his money back. He gave me a specific date to pay him back all the money I’ve been owing him. Brandon got to know about it and sold all of his  company shares to help out yet, it didn’t help the situation because the money we’re owing was huge.”  “Bryan walked on us while 

Chapter 3  Emily Thompson  I took the glass of drink from her and she frowned.  “What are you doing?” Jessica asked, looking stunned. Not only her but, everyone  standing right there with us. Including my brother.  “I’m sorry but, you can’t take this drink” I said.  “Emily, what… are you…doing?” Brandon asked through gritted teeth.  “The question should be  11:47  Chapter 3  : ut ull 33  directed to her” I point at  Nancy before handing the glass of drink to her.  “What’s the meaning of this  nonsense?” She asked, still looking calm.  “Emily, stop this nonsense.  This is someone’s wedding for goodness sake” Janet remarked.  “I know that. And, I just saw her adding a substance to her drink.”  “What?!!!”  “I think, it will be best if you ask her to take the drink  9/92  11:47  Chapter 3  instead”  Moll (33  “Are you saying, I tried poisoning my brother’s wife?” Nancy asked.  “If not that, then what? Just sip the drink, that’s all” I said with a shrugged shoulder, my eyes fixed on her.  “I think, I made the wrong decision asking you to come here” My brother, Brandon said in a disappointed tone. “You know what? You’re leaving” he tried to drag me away with him but from nowhere, a strong yet, warm hand held my left arm.  11:47  Chapter 3  l (33  I turned my head only to see Bryan staring deep into my eyes. My heart begins to flutter again because of his closeness and also, the look he was giving me.  I think I’m going crazy because I have no idea why I’m feeling this way toward him all of a sudden.  “I think, it will be best if you sip the drink just as she’s said”  “Bryan!” Janet exclaimed but he raised his index finger, stopping her from saying another word.  11:47  Chapter 3  tut ull (33  “It’s so disappointing none of  you believed any of your  sister’s words” he looked at  Brandon and Janet disappointed. “She’s right because I also saw her adding a substance to her drink. Now, the question should be, what was the thing she added to her drink, or better still, she can take the drink herself to avoid being accused wrongly” he said, putting his hands in his pocket with a straight, cold look on his face.  Nancy, on the other hand, was hesitant with the drink in her hand as her hand begins to  5/23  11:47  Chapter 3  shake.  ull 33  “Come on, take a sip” Bryan motioned her whilst the rest of  us fixed our gaze on her.  “Y’all are sick for trying to paint me black here‘  “Then prove me wrong” I said, motioning her to take the drink. “Come on, drink up”
