Chapter 40  Emily Thompson  “Emily, where are you right now?” Janet asked immediately after I picked up  her call.  “What’s going on?” I asked and before she could reply to me, I added again. “Look, Janet, I’m not in the mood for any girl’s outing today. I just want to be indoors‘ I said, not in the mood. to talk to her right now.  I wish I could just hang up the call right now and focus on myself. I’m not myself and I’m also not happy. I just got back from Bryan’s office and it’s so disheartening. I can’t believe he could treat me in such a manner.  This is exactly what I’ve been scared of. He’s no longer the Bryan I used to know. All the pampering, sweet, and assuring words are no longer there. I’ve been getting scared of this and now, it’s already happening to us. His love for me is slowly fading away.  “Look girl, I’m also not in the mood to do anything with you. If it were to be left to me alone, I would never go out with you because you’re always an annoying type” She said in a pissed tone and then hissed. I could tell that she just rolled her eyes at me.  Why am I not surprised by her words? She always does these to me. She always makes me feel like I’m never wanted in the family so, it’s no longer a new thing.  Janet please, not today.” I said in a weak tone. I’m not just in the mood to banter words with her because doing that will just make me sad. She will end up throwing hurtful words at me.  “Well, I only called to inform you that your husband is out there to have a lunch date with another woman”  “What?!!” I shrieked, jumping up from where I was sitting as my eyes widened in horror. My whole b*dy is beginning to shake from anger and fear.  “What are you saying? Bryan went out on a date with a woman? How is that possible?! I just  back from his office minutes ago. He was there in his office” I said in a confused state.  got  “Well, I don’t know about that part. I only went to see Sky there in his office. You know he was supposed to meet with Dad as they have somewhere to go to together but Dad asked me to go in his place but when I arrived there, I saw him opening his car door for a lady.”  “You need to see her, Emily. She looks so beautiful and elegant. from the look on her face, can bet that she likes Bryan. You need to do something about it before your husband gets taken away from you just in the same way Xavier was taken away from you in the past” she Guld.  Not able to hear another hurtful word coming out of her mouth, I hung up the call and tears  go to How down my cheeks. I wanted to go meet them wherever they were but something in me kept stopping me and telling me not to go. I decided to call him on the phone but he ignored my calls. I gave him 12 missed calls yet, he didn’t answer his call.  Okay, that’s it. I can’t take it anymore.  I searched for his secretary’s contact in my contact list and dialed her number to ask about Bryan’s location. I need to get his location from her as soon as possible!  There’s no way I’m going to allow any woman to take away Bryan from me. He’s MINE and MINE alone!  Getting to the restaurant where they went, I walked in and began to wander my eyes all over the place to spot them.  Just in time, I found him. The girl’s back was facing me and I couldn’t see anything but Bryan… He was sitting there smiling at whatever the girl was saying to him. He looks so happy right now. How dare he laugh at another woman when he just made me sad a few hours ago?  As my anger began to rise from within me, I marched forward to where they were sitting but immediately Bryan saw me, he widened his eyes out of shock  Of course, he should be shocked to see me here after all, he’s out here cheating on me with  another woman.  “Emily?” He called, looking confused.  can’t believe he still decides to call me by my name! What happened to the pet names he always used?  What are you doing here?” He added again before I could say a word.  made sure to stand beside him so I could see the girl’s face who was trying to take away my man from me.  She’s indeed beautiful. She also looks elegant just like Janet had said. Any man will be happy  have her as their woman. They’ll be so proud to be called her man, Chapter 39  Bryan Samuel  “So, you’re going to divorce her or what? I mean, after the so–called marriage?” Brandon asked while the other three of us fixed our gaze on him and awaited his answer.  “Yeah. A kind of contract marriage. I’m planning on making a marriage proposal to her. For at year or six months is okay by me then, I will pay her for the service. There will be no string attached” He answered.  “And you think she’s going to accept such a proposal from you? Have you forgotten that she’s the heiress to her father’s company? She has everything already, she will never want your money. Plus, she doesn’t want to see you. Steven said.  I succumbed to him whilst nodding my head. “Steven is right. I heard from Emily that she is a nice girl. They asked her to come to spend a few days here with them but she declined and it’s all because of you. She’s avoiding you, man” I said as I smiled and pat his shoulder briefly.  “Whatever” he hissed and we all laughed at him.  “What about you, Brandon? The lucky girl, huh?” Anthon said teasingly raising an eyebrow at  him.  “There’s nothing to talk about that evil witch. She’s too annoying for my liking. She keeps pestering me, showing up in my office, calling me, and asking me out on a date. Imagine the gut that spoilt brat has” he hissed as he gulped down his drink in one shot.  We all laugh at him because Brandon never liked that girl. But I commend her courage. She’s a lady yet, she goes for what she wants without bothering about what other people would say.  I’m very slow in judging people but I would want her for Brandon. She seems like a good girl and I believe she and Brandon will make a good couple.  It’s time my  friends also settled down with a beautiful and responsible woman.  “Brandon, why don’t you just give her a chance? Besides, she’s not one of these girls we have a nightstand with and fling away the second day. She’s a responsible, hard–working lady. Just give it a trial” I added as I advised him again.  No way! And please, y’all should stop talking about that girl. I don’t want to listen to anything that involves her he said, looking upset already.  We all laughed again and raised our hands in the air before deciding to enjoy the night  hour talking about our problems.  Emily, despite all her sudden annoying attitude, I still love and miss her an much. I canh  back honse and have her wrapped in my arms I thought before taking the lar  I  I was busy with my system in my office whilst my eyes were fixed on them intensely when suddenly, the door burst open.  With my anger rising and about to burst at whoever dared walk into my office without my permission, my anger slowly died down.  “Babe….” I trailed off, getting up from my seat to hug her. My face lit up with happiness immediately I saw that she was the one. I have buried myself in work since morning but seeing her now in my office makes me more energetic all of a sudden. “Is that question meant for me or it was a mistake? Of course, I’m here to see you, and since when did you begin to question my presence in your office?” She asked as a confused look suddenly plastered on her face again.  “Are you here to monitor me again, Emily? To watch each of my moves and to see if I’m with another lady, isn’t it?” I asked, getting pissed by her recent annoying behavior.  She’s making it hand for both of us which is not good. If this continues this way, it’s going to  apart in no time.  wer where the sweet and unbothered Emily I used to know is  “Bryan! Can you just stop it? Stop making it look like I’m doing something wrong. I’m doing this only because I love you and I don’t want to lose you!” She busted.  Fuck! This is not going to end well between us. We might end up having a big argument and I do not want that to happen.  “Emily, I think you should return home. I have loads of work on my desk  “Are you asking me out of your office? Bryan! What’s wrong with you!” She yelled, her eyes becoming red slowly..  I could tell that she was hurt by my words but I needed to do this. I need to make her understand that all she’s doing is wrong. She needs to stop suspecting me about every little thing just because she felt I might leave her for another woman.  “Emily I-” |  “Stop! Just stop, Bryan! Stop calling me that” She said and tears began to stream down her cheeks. My heart was immediately struck with pain from that. I love her way too much to see her shed tears because of me. I do not want to hurt her in any way. “Can you just stop hurting me by acting this way? I never knew you could turn out this way with me. You become nonchalant about me ever since that woman showed up in your life. You make me feel like 1 mean nothing to you again!” 

Chapter 38  Bryan Samuel  It’s been a week now and Emily has been acting weird. She become too possessive and protective now. Not even with Catherine alone but with every other lady she sees around me.  She doesn’t care to know if they’re my business partners or any other thing, she ends up jumping to conclusions that I have something to do with them and I’m already getting tired of her actions.  I feel like it’s beginning to drift us apart. There’s no longer trust there despite knowing that I would never cheat on her with another woman.  I’m never that kind of a man. Yes, I was that type of a man but not anymore. I became more responsible when I fell in love with her.  “Hey man, what’s up?” I heard a familiar voice say, bringing me out of my thoughts. Raising my head, that person  turns out to be Brandon.  We all came to Toronto yesterday for a business deal. We successfully signed the deal this morning and decided to have a little fun tonight before going back home.  I came to the bar first before anyone and Brandon happens to be the next person  to show up too. He sat opposite me and gave his order to the bar man whilst I just sat there still thinking about my sudden hectic relationship with my wife.  “I’m tired. I’m really getting exhausted with your sister’s behavior recently” I finally let out what has been bothering me as a sigh escaped my l*p.  “Emily? What has she done?” I heard Sky asked as he slumped beside me on the couch. He took my glass of drink and gulped down the cup all in one goal.  Another sigh escapes my l*p again before saying. “She’s becoming too possessive recently. She’s acting weird because, for the past few days, I hardly go to work and do my things in peace like I used to. She believes I will be cheating on her with another woman”  “Well, you can’t blame her. If it were to be me, I would also be jealous of you and Catherine” Sky said with a shrugged shoulder as he poured himself another glass of drink.  “What are you even saying? I hardly talk to Catherine and you know it. Ever since she left my. house a week ago, we hardly met. She did the sketch needed and that’s it. I only meet with her uncle plus, this is not even about her. It’s about every other lady out there she sees with me. It’s getting frustrated every day.” I hissed again after saying.  think she’s like that because she doesn’t want to lose you just in the same way she lost avier to another woman. She trusted him too much but he ended up cheating on her with  best friend Brandon finally spoke up,  “I’m F***ing not that bastard!” I hissed, glaring at him. “I’m different and you know it!”  “You’re different in what way?” Steven asked as he walked closer to us with Anthon behind. him. They both slumped lazily beside Brandon. I guess, they’re already tired.  Everyb*dy is tired. We’ve been working so hard for the past weeks now that we hardly have. the time to rest. After this, I might give myself a week or two break.  “It’s Emily. She’s beginning to doubt Bryan.‘ Sky answered them. I think, she’s just worried about losing you to another woman like Brandon had said. You worry too much man” he added, patting my shoulder and laughing.  “Is this a love fight or what? Are you two divorcing?” Anthon asked, teasingly and smiling whilst Brandon and I glared hard at him.  He burst out laughing and raised his hand in the air. “Come on, guys. I was just kidding. In the same way, I love you as a brother, I love Emily too. She’s like a little sister to me, to every one of us here… Not to Brandon alone. And to be honest with you, I know we’re all not that good in this love life of a thing especially the fact that we’re all playboys… I mean, you Bryan stopped already!”  “Just talk to your wife. After all, this whole shit of work is over and when you get back home, talk to her. Take her out on a date and talk some sweet words into her. Tell her how much you. love her and would never leave her for any other woman. The truth is, no matter how hard you try to make a woman understand that you love her, if you don’t make it clear with actions, keep giving her repeated assurance, it will be hard to make her believe you” Anthon said and sip his drink after that. “If it can be clear to y’all that I love her so much then, why can’t she see my love for her?” 1 hissed, getting frustrated already.  How can I decide to leave all of my bad past behavior behind and yet, my wife still doubts.  I’m not a wimp, I was never one but she turned me into this only because of her yet, she still doubts my love for her.  Fuck  Believe me, Bryan Emily means no harm. She’s my sister and I know her very well, She’s  worried and insecure because she loves you. She loves you way too much to lose you to  woman This is my sister’s way of expressing herself Brandon said.  “Fine. She’s my wife after all. I’m definitely going to do something about it”  “Yes, go solve your problem with your beautiful wife and stop bothering us with your love life fight” Sky teased but Steven began to tease him more,  “Look who is advising someone to go focus on their love life problem. What about you?”  Steven asked.  “What about me?” Sky asked back.  “The girl you had a nightstand with. You wanted to marry her right? And that’s because you’re head heels over her he teased again making us all burst out laughing at Sky.  “What?! Never! I will never fall in love with a girl like her‘  “Same thing Bryan said when he met Emily. He claims he won’t ever love her but look at him now. Head over heels for her. He loves her so much that I doubt if he can live without her” Anthon said, getting a glare from me even though he was saying the truth.  “Come on, guys, Bryan and I are two different people. He loves Emily and married her while I want Sophia to help me solve my family problem” he said. 

Chapter 37  Emily Thompson  We got back home after getting the drugs and immediately we walked into the room, my heart instantly strike from pain.  She’s now awake and wrapped in Bryan’s arms. Bryan on the other hand didn’t act like he was doing something wrong.  Tears immediately welled up in my eyes but I can’t even say anything.  “Bryan, how is she feeling? She’s awake already?” Aunt Capella asked as she move closer to them on the bed.  “I think she’s getting better, I don’t know. You got the drugs already right?” He asked, looking from me to his aunt.  “Yes, yes. We did”  Before I could witness another scenario that would hurt me more, I hurriedly rushed out of  the room.  I heard Bryan’s calling after me but I turned a deaf ear and tears sl*pped out of my eyes.  How could he do this to me? This was the same woman he told me he has nothing left for yet, he cared so much for her.  Immediately I entered our room, he walked in behind me. “Babe? Babe is everything okay?” He asked in a worried tone.  I wanted to shout at him. Raise my voice at the tip of my tongue but if det.  definitely going to make that girl knows that she’s getting into me.  “Babe talk to me-  if I do that. I‘  Just go  back to your girlfriend. She’s sick after all and she needed your attention. You need to be there with her”  “What are you even saying? Girlfriend? She fainted and all I did was to help. You don’t expect me to leave her there all alone by herself, do you? Don’t tell me you’re jealous of someone who was at the verge of dying? He asked, looking at me unbelievable.  Wow! Now, I’m doing too much, right? Can’t you see that she’s only pretending? Who knows if she planned this with your Aunt beforehand?”  “Enough! That’s enough, Family, Aunt Capella might act like she doesn’t like you but she won  to do something awful as that Besides, you were there with me. You saw how she looks. Are you trying to say that she planned the whole thing with  the  1:39  Chapter 57  100  “Bryan!” I yelled. He’s suddenly acting weird. Just an hour ago, I was the most important person to him and now. I can’t even pinpoint how his character looks like right now to me.  up  “Look Emily. I’m already tired and I need to rest. You can’t keep on doing these all the time and I’m sick and tired of repeating myself to you all the time that I have no feelings whatsoever left for this girl! I had to cancel the biggest contract I could ever gotten all because of you. I know you would never want her beside me even though, I still end accepting it and you know the reason too! Estee is happening at the moment, is merely business! STRICTLY BUSINESS!” He bursted and walks out of the door, slamming it so hard as he makes me jolt in fear.  With another fresh tears streaming out if my eyes down my checks, I slowly slump myself on the floor.  Was i doing too much? Did I make him that uncomfortable? But, I was only trying to protect  husband from what is mine. I don’t think I should be reprimanded for trying to protect my that slut, right?– I thought as so many thoughts begins to flow through my mind.  Still on the floor with so many things going through my mind, I have no idea on how I ended up dozing off and fall into sleep.  I woke up the next following morning and found myself on the bed. Not only that, the dress I was putting on was no longer on my b*dy but my night dress.  Bryan’s favorite color – Blue.  What am I doing here? And how did I end up in this dress? I thought as I tried to sit properly but the door slowly got open and Bryan walked in with a tray of a few toast bread.  and cup  of tea.  Staring at him in a shock state, he walk up to me with a broad smile plastered on his face. “Good morning, beautiful” He said, dropping the tray on the nightstand besides the bed and sit closer to me. He pulled me for an embrace before he begining to k*ss my forehead, nose, cheeks and then stopped on my l*p.  What’s going on here?” I asked, looking directly into his eyes.  I know you’re upset at me and I’m so sorry, babe, This… This is my way of apologizing to  you  Apologize? What for? What exactly are you apologizing for?” I asked, getting annoyed  ready with the word apologizing coming out from him.  bow you’re still upset at me for what happened between us yesterday night. You’re right  I’m wrong he said again and pecked me on my l*p.  Chapter 37  “How did I get onto the bed and, who dressed me?”  “I did”  “Okay. I… I need to freshen up. I will be visiting Mom with Dad and probably, would spend. the next few days with them “I said and the happy look on his face suddenly washed away and now replaced with a confused look. 

Chapter 36  Emily Thompson  “What happened to her?” Bryan asked his aunt as he crouched down to Catherine’s level on the floor.  “I have no idea. She just slumped on the floor all of a sudden” She said in a panicking tone.  Bryan scooped her up in his arms and rushed to one of the rooms downstairs with Aunt Capella and me trailing behind him. After laying her gently on the bed, he brought out his phone to dial someone’s number but his Aunt was very quick to stop him.  “What are you trying to do?”  “Of course, I’m trying to dial the doctor’s number. She needs a medical check–up right now” Bryan answered.  “You don’t have to worry about that. I called Joseph already. He will be here in a jiffy” She said.  Huh? She called Joseph. Who is Joseph and why didn’t I see her using her phone?  Could she be lying or what?  A few minutes passed then we heard a knock on the door. Aunt Capella hurriedly got the door open and rushed the doctor in.  After checking her pulse for a few minutes, he announced that it was nothing too serious. She fainted because of too much stress from work and needs a lot of rest. Not only that, she will be needing someone to always be there for her for the next few days.  Like seriously?  Of all days, why would she decide to faint here in my house? Why can’t she do that in her father’s house?  And, why do I feel like all these are nothing but a scheme? For some weird reason, it doesn’t look real to me.  If she had truly fainted, wouldn’t her face be white or look sick? Why does she look beautiful more? Like some beauty who has just fallen asleep.  So, you’re saying that she doesn’t need a drug or what? When is she going to wake up? She can’t continue to be like this on the bed forever! Do something to wake her up He complained in a worried tone. And for some weird reason, I felt a strike on my chest seeing  acting this way.  I make the mistake of allowing this girl to come into our house! I should have made  Chapter 36  Bryan stop her right? Because why do I feel like she only brought trouble into this house for  me?  “You don’t have to worry, Mr Samuel. She will be back to normal in an hour but before then, I will have to inject her and write down the drugs she will have to take for the next three days. Also, the medication has to start tonight. Meaning, you have to get the drugs as soon as possible right after I leave here”  “Sure. Do whatever you can, just make sure she opens her eyes “Bryan said again.  When the doctor was done, he wrote the drug prescription and left after giving it to Bryan. Aunt Capella also told him she would send his payment or whatever to him. I don’t care to  know.  What’s more important and bothering me right now is the way Bryan is acting. He’s making it look like they’re both lovers or something. He acts all caring and looks worried too.  “Aunt Capella, you stay with her until she wakes up, I will go get the drugs” he said, taking the prescription paper from the bed and ready to leave the room. He didn’t even spare me a glance. Like, I was invisible to him or something.  “No, Bryan. You stay with her. Emily and I will go get the drugs”  “But you-”  “Two of your guards can go with us if you don’t feel comfortable with us leaving all by ourselves. Besides, it’s not that late yet, this is just past 8 pm”  “Are you sure about this?” He asked, still not convinced by her assuring words.  “I’m sure of what I just said. Just stay with her till she wakes up” In a swift move, she took the  paper  from him and dragged me out of the room with her even before I could protest.  We got into the car and on our way to the nearest pharmacist, I could feel Aunt Capella’s eyes. on me. I tried to wave it off my mind thinking it was just my hallucination but the gut feeling won’t stop. I’m just too positive that she’s staring at me. Slowly turning my head to look at her, her gaze was still fixed on me and she didn’t even blink an eye.  She looked confident even after I caught her staring at me with those killing eyes of hers. Aunt Capella, is there a problem? Did I do anything wrong?” I asked.  “You’re my problem! And yes, you did everything wrong! Everything about you is just wrong! What in the world have you done to my nephew?” She burst angrily.  “What are you talking about?”  acting like you have no idea of what I was talking about! You bewitched him and that  son why he wasn’t able to kick you out of his life already. But, did you see the  when he found Catherine lying lifelessly on the flour earlier Did you  Chapter 36  cared and how worried he looked? That signifies that he still has feelings for her. Be ready to pack your things out of his house because very soon, Catherine is going to take over” she said with so much assurance laced in her tone. 

Chapter 35  Emily Thompson  “Oh my God! Is that Bryan?!” Jessica exclaimed worriedly.  “Erm… I will talk to you girls later I said and hurriedly hung up the call.  “Hey, babe. You’re home earlier than I expected” I said, looking at him seductively as I walked slowly closer to him and hugged him.  He didn’t say anything instead, he pulled me more into his embrace and hugged me tightly. Even though my heart was beating really fast, I still tried to control myself.  He broke the hug and looked intensely into my eyes. “look at how hard you’re trying to breathe properly. Now tell me, Emily. What’s that thing you’re trying to hide from me?” He asked, looking serious and not giving a room for a joke.  Yes! There’s no escape in this now.  I locked my gaze with him whilst he raised one of his brows, indicating that I should speak  “Well, you caught me on this…” I trailed off, a sigh escaping my l*p yet, he didn’t say anything. He keeps waiting for me to say something.  “I went to the supermarket market today to get some groceries myself. It was supposed to be a surprise but you’ve ruined it all and now I have to spill it out. I hate you!” I hissed and then pouted as I gently hit him on his chest with my small hands yet, he stood there looking emotionless.  He’s waiting for me to complete my statement. Could he have known that there’s something big I’m trying to hide from him? It’s not just only about me going to the supermarket.  “You know, it has always been the maid’s job to go get the groceries but because I had wanted. to be the one who cooked your meal, I went out alone. I’m sorry I didn’t tell. I was planning on keeping this a secret because I know you’ll be upset but, you caught me already” I lied.  Well, it wasn’t a total lie. I went out alone but there’s no way I’m going to tell him about  Xavier  He stared at me for a few seconds before pulling me for a tight hug again. It’s fine. So, what did you cook for your handsome husband?” He asked, breaking the hug and smiling down at  Day, did he buy the lie?  – Your favorite. I said it earlier ”  I’m glad he didn’t notice anything though.  I was just about to shower before you came in. And, why did you come back so early? I expected you to be back in the next two hours or so ”  “Let’s say, I missed my wife so much that I want to be with her” he said, hugging me and k*ssing me on my l*p.  “And your work? You’re becoming negligent about your work these days, Bryan ‘ I reasoned  out.  No, I’m not. Chapter 34  Emily Thompson  “It’s Xavier…” She trailed off again, finding it hard to complete her statement.  “What about him and why are you bringing up that cheating ass name into our conversation?”  “Please Emily, just listen to me. I promise not to upset you with this just that, it’s been a while we have always wanted to see you and talk to you about this”  “So, what is it about him that’s making you find it difficult to talk?”  “You have to believe me even if it’s going to be hard” She said whilst I narrowed my eyes at her intensely, waiting for her to say something meaningful. She’s keeping in too much. unnecessary suspense and I do not like it one bit.  “He’s dying” She announced.  “What?!!”  “Yes. He’s dying. A week after that incident happened, I found him lying unconscious in his house. He was rushed to the hospital and the doctor said he’s been diagnosed with cancer. He’s in his last stage and he can’t survive it” She said and a dry chuckle escaped out of my mouth.  “You don’t expect me to believe these makeup stories of yours, do you?”  “You have to believe me, Emily. I will never lie to you”  Well, you did in the past- I wanted to say that to her but ended up keeping my mouth shut. It will be meaningless to keep dragging the past issues with her as she has already apologized.  “You have to believe me please, he’s dying and he is so eager to meet you. Just one more time, trust me on this, please. I know it will be hard for you to believe but please, you just have to believe me. He’s badly sick” She desperately begged as she suddenly held my hand tightly.  Looking at her face right now, I could say that she might be telling the truth. She looks genuine with her words. The arrogant look I know her with is no longer there. She looks more humble now.  “If he’s that sick then, what was he doing all these while without getting himself treated!! He alted for his sickness to worsen before visiting the hospital or what?” I said, rolling my eyes Even though deep down in me. I feel for him but I’m still not sure yet if she’s telling the After 30 minutes of visiting Xavier, I just left his house now. He was in a pretty i bad shape. I never imagined that a day like this would come in his life. He’s always lively and active. I never thought something like this could happen.  On arriving there and when he saw me, he looked so happy but to me, it actually felt like he needed help. He looks skinny. The good–looking Xavier is all gone and the one in seeing right now looks really hopeless.  the  Sometimes, when things happen to us… We tend to blame God for not letting things go way we had always wanted. Not that I’m happy with the situation I just met him but imagine. if he hadn’t broken my heart and I was still with him, I would have been more miserable. knowing that the man I’m supposed to get married to will be dying soon. good. All the grudges and hatred I had for them are all gone and now replaced with pity. I really wish there was something I could do to help but at this stage, I learned that nothing can be done.  He saw all the symptoms yet, he ignored them. He isn’t to be blamed though, I should take part in it because I wasn’t noticeable enough to know what was wrong with him while we were together.  Awrak sigh escaped my l*p as I decided to ignite my car engine and drove off straight to the supermarket. I got what I needed and drove back home. At the same time, my phone started to ring. Looking at the screen, Jessica’s name appeared on the screen. Grinning like someone who just won a lottery, I slide to the green side to answer the call.  “Hey, girl!” I said.  “Emily” I heard Janet’s voice say.  With a confused look on my face, I took the phone away from my car to check the screen to know if I was hallucinating or what but then, I realized that it was a conference call.  “Is there a problem? Why are we making a conference call?” I asked, sounding confused.  “You haven’t heard about the news yet? Jessica asked, sounding worried.  “News? What news is that?” I asked but they kept their mouth shut. They didn’t say a word.  “Seriously, you two need to speak up and stop getting me scared. You two sound like something terrible has happened- Wait, is everything okay with Mom and Dad?” I suddenly  mind sifted to that thought as I believe that’s the only thing that can make them sound this way. 

Chapter 33  Emily Thompson  Lip signing!  Bryan told me how he ended  contract with her uncle and he was forced as hist Aunt ended up becoming a thorn in his flesh in the deal. And to be honest, after listening to his explanation. I realize that he has no fault in this. Plus, the prince insists that Bryan with the boys and that slut’s Uncle will be the one to handle the project no matter how hard Bryan tries to reject the deal.  It was supposed to be a business deal but ended up becoming more like a pleading. I don’t know but from the way it sounds after his explanation, I think he desperately wants Bryan and the boys to handle the project.  Plus, that slut has to be involved in all of this as she’s the architect who will sketch out the graph before working on the project.  I can’t blame Bryan for not rejecting the contract. First, it’s a big bonus for him and the boys as it is worth a huge amount of money. Even if it were to be me, I wouldn’t have to think twice before accepting the contract. And secondly, the prince seems to have a very strong faith in Bryan’s work.  I want him to keep getting bigger jobs every day as I’m not the type of wife who would want all of her husband’s fortune to be gone but, what hurt me the most was the fact that he didn’t let me know about it even though he said he was looking for the right time to tell me but still, I am disappointed.  “So, you’ll be meeting with her from time to time from now on?” I asked, staring into his eyes.  “Yes and with the boys around too. I won’t be meeting her alone”  “But she came here to see you without them here with you. I don’t trust that girl, Bryan. What if she takes you away from me?” I asked as fear began to overwhelm my whole b*dy. I’m just so proud of my husband. All Mafia’s I know kill people but when it comes to him, it’s different. He saves people instead of hurting them.  This would have been a perfect moment between Bryan and Aaron. I missed Aaron so much. Being at home these days has given me more opportunity to Facetime with him from time to time. He keeps insisting that he wants to see me and his father and I’m beginning to get worried.  I want to bring him here but I’m scared. How do I do that when I don’t know how Bryan is going to react to it. To Aaron, I didn’t hide his father from him. I told him about Bryan and even showed him his picture so he would know what his father looks like.  Well, I made a promise to him and told him I’d be back very soon to take him with me.  And today, I decided to go to the supermarket to get some groceries. I’m a lover of cooking and I love trying out new things especially different recipes. I found one recently on the internet and I want to try it out. “I’ve always loved Xavier even before he asked you out. And when you told me you two were dating, I was hurt. I began to hate you for taking away what was supposed to be mine and that was how I decided to come in between you two. He never loved me, I was the one who forced myself into his life”  “So, what exactly do you want me to do with all this information you just passed to me now? I asked, looking un–bothered by all she just spit.  I don’t know why I wasn’t surprised after everything she just said. Maybe, I was really not into Xavier. I was not pained at all. 

Chapter 32  Emily Thompson  “What is she doing here?!” I bursted angrily getting up from my seat immediately. I had forgotten about the fact that Bryan was massaging my leg before she barged in o  on us.  We’re still on this when Janet also walks in with a confused look on her face but I really don’t care about that for now. What’s more important and disturbing is this woman standing right in front of me.  “What are you doing here?” I questioned again, glaring at her.  By now, I had expected Bryan to yell at her and ask her out of his office but he kept his cool. He didn’t look angry or bothered about her presence despite warning her days ago not to show her face ever again to him.  What the hell is going on here? Why do I feel weird about this?  Bryan won’t betray me, right?  “I’m sure you’re not deaf and dumb right? And I’m not going to ask you this again. What the hell is your cheating ass doing here?!“I asked again.  She didn’t reply to me instead, she passed me a wicked smirk and moved forward then, she turned to face my husband. “Bryan, can we talk? It’s very important and more reason why I’m here” She said in a very calm tone which I’m not cool about it.  It’s making me boil in anger more from within.  “I just asked you a question! What the hell are you doing in my husband’s office?! Who the hell let you in?! How come none of the security men stopped you from coming in? Why didn’t they throw you out like the piece of trash that you are?!” I burst again, glaring hard at  her.  “Babe please, calm-”  “Don’t tell me to calm down, Bryan! She needs to tell me who let her in.” I said, cutting him off from his words. “Besides, I thought you canceled the deal involving her so, why is she here?” I asked confusedly as I turned to face Bryan.  “Wait, what?” She said letting out a wicked laugh. “Cancel what deal? Didn’t your husband tell you he already signed the contract? We now work together as partners and nothing is ever going to change that. Not even you dear wife‘ She mocked and at the same time, Bryan tried to caution her from speaking.  Catherine He called out her name.  Tears immediately welled up in my eyes as I turned to look at Bryan but he wouldn’t look me  Chapter 32  in the eyes. He looks guilty already. I can’t believe he can do this to me.  Despite telling me countless that I mean the world to him yet, he dared do this to  o me. ” I SAID, LEAVE!!! He cut her off, yelling and making her jolt in fear. If it wasn’t for the fact that he was hugging me tightly right now, I would have been in the same show as this slut with the way he just shouted.  Glaring at me one last time before walking out of his office, Janet excused herself also. “I came here to get the file you asked to deliver to my dad but as it’s now, I will have to come back some other time” She said and walked out too.T  Immediately she’s out, the threatening tears I’ve been trying so hard to hold in all this while begin to flow out of my eyes and down my cheeks.  Bryan hurriedly ran to the door and locked it from inside.  He began to take a step closer to me while I took one backward. “Don’t! Don’t you dare come closer to me” I warned him with tears still in my eyes but he didn’t listen.  My back ends up k*ssing the wall and right there, I know there’s no escape route for me anymore. He suddenly held my right hand and pulled me closer to his embrace as he hugged me tightly.  I tried to push him away from me but he wouldn’t let go of me plus, he’s stronger than me. Tm sorry, I’m truly sorry babe for keeping this away from you. I really do not want you to be bothered about “EMILY!” He suddenly yelled, his eyes glinting with anger and disappointment.  A light sigh escaped my l*p following a dry laugh. “Wow! You just called me by my name. It’s been long I heard you call me that and by this, you just prove to me that I mean nothing to you. You know what? Why don’t we just get divorce?”  “What?!!!  “Yes. Let’s get it done once and for all so you can be with the woman of your dream ” I said looking deep into his eyes.  I can tell from the look on his face Chapter 31  Emily Thompson  After spending time together for more than 2 hours, we decided to call it a day. We exchanged contact with Sophia and I can say, she’s really a nice girl.  For some weird reason, I want her to end up with Sky. At least, marrying him and changing his Casanova lifestyle will be a bonus to us. That makes it 2 down and 3 more to go.  I really want all the boys to find a good woman and settle down. It’s high time they begin to act responsibly instead of sleeping around with different women every day. I wonder how they could cope with that though. “Don’t bother to ask me questions, Emily. I need to pick up some files from Bryan’s office. So, I will be going with you! She said even before I could question her. Nodding my head and understanding her point, I unlock the car door  Chapter 31  She entered and sat in the passenger seat. Waving at Sophia one last time, I entered my car ignited the car engine, and drove off straight to Bryan’s company.  Janet didn’t speak to me on our way to Bryan’s company and I wondered why she was like that though. Not when I thought everything was now cool between us. Though, not an awkward silence but I still don’t like the atmosphere between us. And whenever I tried to bring up a conversation, she would only give me a short answer or nod her head.  She gave me that expression that she was not in for conversation.  Finally, we arrived at my husband’s company minutes later. Parking my car properly at a side, we both hopped down from the car and walked into the building.  Bryan’s employee begins to greet me and Janet. A few ladies held this envious and jealous. look on their faces whilst some smiled at me looking so genuine.  I’m starting not to be comfortable with this kind of girl around my husband. What if, they snatched him away from me just in the same way Sonia snatched Xander away from me?– I thought and anger began to erupt in me at the mere thought of it.  Janet and I entered the elevator and a few minutes later, we arrived at Bryan’s floor but, what we saw took us by surprise. The question here is, what are Brandon and the boys doing here?  I believe they ought to be in their office right? “Emily? You’re Emily Samuel, right? Bryan’s wife?” She asked, roughly shoving her father’s hand away from hers and standing in front of me.  “Yes. I’m his wife and Brandon here is my brother. To tell you the truth, I’m his favorite out of his three sisters and he does whatever I ask him to do, in other words, I’m like an angel to you right now. Do you really want to marry my brother? You meant your words right?” I asked, hope glinting in my eyes as I fixed my gaze on her.
