Kirk had long ago expected that Jude wouldn’t approve. He turned to look at Jude and asked, “Why don’t you approve, Uncle Jude?”

Jude looked over at Daphne. He really hated her right then. He despised her for staying there like
a brick, not even knowing how to defend herself.
There was no way Jude could allow Daphne and Kirk to get divorced.
Since Kirk was still married now, he couldn’t openly pursue Caroline. But once he was divorced, he could use any methods he wanted to force Caroline to divorce her husband.
When the time came, Eddy would have no chance of winning.
Jude didn’t want the regrets of the past to play out in the future.
“Maybe Daphne was entrapped. I think it’s better to ask her about this properly first.”
Kirk replied, “Even so, her infidelity is a fact. You said just now, Uncle Jude, that this is my private
matter and should be handed to me to deal with. I don’t care what excuses one may have. Cheating
is cheating!”
Gripping his walking stick tightly, Jude said, “So you must divorce, is that it?”
“Yes.” Kirk’s voice was steely.
Jude’s body was trembling from his rage. He looked at Daphne, who stayed on the ground without
speaking. His fury burned hotter.
“Don’t you have anything to say about this?”
Daphne had already been terrified into silence long before this. There was no way she could say

Jude talked about what had happened more than half a century ago. Back then, he and Ivan
weren’t the old men they were today. They had been full of youth and vigor.
The big four families hadn’t schemed and competed with each other as they did now. The relationship between the families had been exceptionally good, especially between the Morrison.
