Jack chuckled “Isn’t it better for you to tell us?”
Cheryl could vaguely sense that something was wrong. “Aren’t we just having dinner? Why do I need to say everything so clearly?”
Why did it feel like she was on a blind date?
In disbelief, her eyes suddenly widened. Her gaze shifted between Antonio and Jack.
After a moment, she shot upright. “So you didn’t ask me out for dinner, but to set me up on a blind
date?”
“That’s right.” Jack was clueless as to the severity of the problem.
“A few days ago, Ms. Evans asked me to help find you a boyfriend. But she didn’t tell me what
type. So I had no choice but to bring with my own friend and introduce him to you.”
After saying that, Jack even smiled. “What do you think? As a brother figure, I’m doing great, right?
Cheryl was so angry that she trembled all over. She picked up her bag and left the private room.

Jack was confused as he chased after her. “Cheryl, what is up with you?”
“I’m fine!”
As clueless as Jack was, he could tell that Cheryl was mad.
“Are you unhappy with the person I chose? If you’re not happy, I can find someone else. Just tell
me what type you like.”
When she saw Jack so concerned, Cheryl’s heart started to ache. She had been looking forward to
this date so much, but Jack was pushing her toward some other man!
Using all her strength, Cheryl managed to grit out, “Thank you for your concern, but I don’t need
you to butt into my affairs anymore.”
Afterward, she didn’t dare to linger. She left without looking back.
Jack still wanted to go after her, but the crowd at the door blocked his way.

“Stop chasing after her.” Seeing Jack go against the crowd to go after Cheryl, Antonio called out to his friend at the door to stop him.
Jack had no choice but to turn around. “I’m sorry. I really don’t know why she got mad.
Antonio laughed as he looked at Jack.
Jack was perplexed by this. He asked, “Is it that funny?”
“Of course. After so many years, you still don’t understand what’s on a woman’s mind.
“That girl obviously likes you, but you were trying to introduce her to someone else. If you were in her place, would you be angry?”
“Stop joking. She’s like my little sister.”
“She’s like your little sister, not your actual sister.”
Antonio then teased, trying to test him, “Are you really not the slightest bit interested in her?”
Jack shook his head. He had always seen Cheryl as a little sister and nothing else.
However, he had felt very uncomfortable a few days ago when Caroline said Cheryl wanted to find
a boyfriend.
He felt like the one person he was close to, who he had gone to such pains to finally get, was going
to leave him.
These few days, he had managed to push down his unease with much effort. He even managed to
look for a boyfriend for Cheryl in all seriousness.
How had things ended up this way?
Jack’s mind was in a mess. He couldn’t think clearly for a moment.
Right then, Antonio pointed out to him, “Your phone’s ringing.”
After a few seconds‘ delay, Jack finally came back to himself. He was slightly disappointed when
he got his phone out and saw that it wasn’t Cheryl calling.
“Hello?”
It was a call from Charles.

Jack was in a daze as he answered, “No”
Charles was so mad that he shot up in bed. “If there’s nothing going on, why did you call me so many times? Are you trying to keep me from sleeping?”
Charles‘ anger pulled Jack out of his dazedness.
“No. I remember now. I called you to tell you that I saw Daphne Dawson. Why hasn’t she been dealt with?”
Had she escaped?
On the other end of the line, Charles was strangely excited as he asked, “You saw her outside?”
