That was right. He was in pain, but wasn’t Caroline suffering too? Kirk couldn’t give up on himself now. What he had to do was quickly find out why she wanted to divorce him.
Kirk took several deep breaths and called an internal number. “Come to the office.”
Half a minute later, Charles walked in warily. Seeing Kirk’s swollen face and the blood under his
nose, he stared at Sean in fear.
“Find out why Caroline wants to divorce me.”
Kirk’s voice was terrifyingly low. He lifted his wrist to check the time before saying, “Two hours. I
want your report within two hours.”
Charles could only ask, “What?”
“I don’t care how you do it. Just find out the truth. I don’t care if you have to beg Caroline for the
answer.”
Charles glanced at Sean again.
Seeing that Kirk had finally calmed down, Sean let out a breath. His expression was no longer as
tense, and he had regained his usual nonchalance.
“What are you looking at me for? Shouldn’t you get going?”
Charles felt put on the spot. “Alright. I–I know what to do.”
Walking out of the office, Charles wanted to head to the roof. Kirk had only given him two hours.
How was he supposed to find out why Caroline wanted to divorce Kirk in such a short amount of
time?
But seeing how things were now, Charles knew his coming days would be hell if he didn’t find out
the truth.
Just as he walked to the elevator hesitantly, Sean’s voice came from behind. “Wait for me.”
