Jessica and I looked at each other again before staring at Janet in bewilderinent.
“Janet, what are you saying?” Jessy asked.
Exactly! What is wrong with her because right now, she looks like someone who isn’t pleased with the fact that I chose to be with Bryan forever.
“Erm, n.. nothing. I’m just surprised that you decided to be with him. I mean, we all know you don’t like him, and staying with him will only result in your ruining your life completely” She said.
“Well, that was years ago. In fact, if you had asked me this question weeks ago, I would have chosen not to be with him for the rest of my life but, spending this past few days with him, I realized I was wrong. Bryan is actually a good man. He cares a lot about me and all he ever does is to treat me nice. He
respects me so much.”
“You won’t believe he sometimes asks for my opinion concerning his work. I think I misunderstood. And, whatever he’s happened to us in the past, should be left in the past. This is my present now heading to the future”
“Talking about the past, don’t you think it’s time you let him know about the truth?”
What truth are you talking about? I have nothing to tell him” I said firmly. My mood changed from good to bad.
Why would she bring this up again out of the blue? She always finds ways to ruin my mood.
“But Janet is right, Emily. You two are married now. Plus, you just confirm that you’re feeling something strong, something special for him. It’s about time. you let him know that he has a child. The precious son you bear for him, Emily! You two first fruit. Sooner or later, he will find out and that’s because he’s Bryan Samuel. Have you ever thought of how he would react if he found out about the truth by himself? He won’t be happy. He will hate you and hate every one of us. Not only that, our family might get ruined” Jessy said.

“Girls, please stop it. He won’t find out, okay? He won’t know. He has had not idea about this for the past five years and neither will he find out now”
“This is bullshit! He won’t find out, you say?! You have a son for him! You always go check up on Aaron every two weeks. It’s been two weeks already, How do you intend to leave without Bryan noticing anything?”
I will find a way but I can’t let him know the truth. Bryan doesn’t want a child for now. Not from me or anyone else. He’s fine with how things are between us at the moment”
“Are you kidding me right now, Emily?! Your thought and not his. How would you know what’s going through his mind if you don’t talk about it? This is not even right and you know it. Hiding the truth from him will only ruin your relationship with him. You’re in love with him now so, what’s stopping you? I’m sure, he’s going to be happy about the news. It’s just so hard to understand you sometimes “Jessy hissed in annoyance after saying that.
“Erm… Can we talk about something else? I don’t want to talk about this now”
“We have to, Emily” Janet insisted. “It’s either you tell Bryan about his child or, you divorce him”
“But I love him!”
I ended up widening my eyes in horror after saying that out loud and the whole room went silent.
Did I just admit that I love him? No, I’m wrong, right? I’m just confused about the whole thing and end up saying things I’m not supposed to.
“W… What? You love Bryan? Since when? I thought, you just said you’re not sure of your feelings yet?” Janet bombarded me with questions.
“Well, I… I don’t know, okay. I’m just… I just have this weird feeling in me and I’m not sure if I-”
“Okay, that’s enough. Why don’t we give her some time to think about the whole thing thoroughly?” Jessy suggested whilst looking at Janet before turning to face me. “Emily, you have very little time to do the right thing and do not forget, if too much time is taken, you might end up losing all you’ve worked so hard to get. I know, it isn’t easy and you’re still confused about the whole thing but always know this, as long as Bryan loves you and he’s with
you, whatever you wish to do, is going to be
easy”
“Do not take long before you tell him the whole truth. Doing that will set your heavy heart free” Tears welled up in my eyes after she was done talking to me. I know she’s right but some part in me won’t just listen to her. Before I could reply to her, the door burst open and my husband’s face showed.
I widened my eyes in horror and jumped up from my seat. Not only me but my sisters too,
What’s he doing here at this time of the day?! He ought to be in his office! Oh my goodness, I’m so dead already because there’s no doubt, he heard everything. The look on his face says it all.
“B… Bryan? It’s… It’s not what you think, okay? Please, I can explain. You know the night we ”
“Surprise!!!” He exclaimed happily before walking closer and engulfing me in a tight hug. I’m still in shock and I couldn’t move my b*dy. I only stood there like a statue not able to speak or move.
So many things running through my mind right now. Is he testing me? Is he pretending or what? Does he want me to explain everything to him and that’s the reason why he’s acting like he didn’t listen to our conversation or what?– I thought, wondering what could be running through his mind right now.
“I know I took you by surprise, right? Well, after you told me earlier that you took today off, I decided to cancel all my appointments just to be with my beautiful wife” he said, pecking me on my l*p. Afterward, he turned to look at my sisters. “What a surprise we have here. I’m glad you two are here.” He said, smiling at them.
“Erm… Bryan, for how long have you been standing at the door?” I finally found my voice to ask.
“Just now. Why? Is anything wrong?” He asked, staring at my sisters and I with a suspicious look on his face.
“Erm… I… I was. I mean, we were tal-”
I begin stuttering but Janet cuts me off. “Of course, everything is fine. Just that, we’ve been talking about you” Janet said, making both Jessy and I widen our eyes in horror.

What is she trying to do?! Despite my trying to get her attention so I could stop her from spilling anything to Bryan but, she only focused on Bryan. She didn’t even bother to spare me a glance despite my effort.
“Actually, we did something wrong to you, but before that, I need you to forgive us, please. Especially your wife”
That’s it! I’m doomed. Bryan will hate me for the rest of his life after hearing the truth from her.
