Chapter 26 Shameless
Seeing Wesley’s sad face, Gwyneth chuckled lightly, left the office, and headed straight to Luther Corporation. She found that she had never stepped into Liam’s company, whether for business or personal matters, lo be rather funny.
At the same time, Elizabeth had just come out of an office with papers in hand. She was just about to take the elevator to find Liam when she heard a familiar voice behind her.
“Please inform the project manager that I have a business meeting with him.”
Elizabeth stopped and turned to see Gwyneth in formal attire, dealing with the company’s front desk worker.
“Ms. Glen?”
Just as Gwyneth was about to take her business card out, Larry walked over and said, “Ms. Glen, are you here to meet the boss? Why don’t
I inform him about your arrival?”
Gwyneth looked a little hesitant when she heard Liam’s name. She had come to Luther Corporation for no other purpose than to discuss business matters. She did not want Liam to know she was here at all. However, before she could speak up, Larry nodded at her and turned
to get on the elevator.
He did not expect Elizabeth to be there as well. “Larry, I see that Ms. Glen is here. Is she looking for Liam? Why don’t I help you pass the message? It just so happens that I’m going up to see him.”
Seeing that Larry was hesitant, Elizabeth’s face turned pale, and her voice became sharper. “What? Do you think I can’t do it?”
Larry quickly lowered his head when he heard that. He was one of Liam’s closest personnel, so he knew Elizabeth’s relationship with him. Although it felt a little inappropriate, Larry did not stop her. “Thank you, Ms. Lisle.”
Elizabeth shot him a cold glance and walked straight into the elevator. She then got off before reaching the floor where Liam’s office was.
The eighth floor of the building consisted of a staff lounge where employees took their breaks and had coffee. Coincidentally, it was time for afternoon tea. Many people gathered in the lounge, mainly the front office staff.
“Good morning, Ms. Lisle.”
“Are you here for coffee. Ms. Lisle?”
Everyone hurriedly rose to greet Elizabeth when they saw her. From their perspective, she was the person who had Liam wrapped around her fingers. So, they dared not offend her.
After greeting everyone with a smile, Elizabeth sat down with a worried expression and sighed heavily.
“What’s the matter, Ms. Lisle?”
Elizabeth was waiting for someone to ask her that. She sneered to herself when she heard the question, but her face remained sad.
“I’m not sure if any of you noticed the woman who was looking for the project manager at the front desk earlier.”
“Ah, I saw that woman. This is the first time I’ve seen her at the company. She’s rather pretty,” said one of the employees as they glanced
at the crowd. The company culture in Luther Corporation was as such–if someone saw something, then everyone saw it.
“Well, she’s Mr. Luther’s ex–wife.” Elizabeth’s tone could not help but turn cold when she mentioned the word “ex–wife.” Her jealousy toward Gwyneth had nearly made her expose herself.
“What?!”
“She’s the boss’s ex–wife? Oh my God!”
“But doesn’t that mean they’re divorced? So why is she here to see the boss?”
The corners of Elizabeth’s lips curled slightly into a smile as she listened to their conversation. The louder the discussion about Gwyneth, the more beneficial it would be for Elizabeth.
“Honestly, I don’t know. I don’t really understand why two divorced people can still…” Elizabeth stopped halfway through her words, but almost everyone knew what she was referring to since they were all into gossip.
“She’s blatantly throwing herself at the boss. How shameless!”
“Yeah. They’ve already parted ways. Why is she running back to him now?”
Although the workers had not seen Gwyneth’s face yet, they were already disgusted by her. All of them had intentionally or unintentionally stared at Gwyneth when they were downstairs, but none was willing to contact the project manager for her.
“The corporate culture and the quality of the staff in this place is literally the worst. “Gwyneth raised her eyebrows and slammed her hand onto the front desk as she continued, “I didn’t expect Luther Corporation to be so bad at handling things.”
The staff at the front desk was startled seeing Gwyneth raise her voice like that. Her face turned pale, and Elizabeth walked over just as he was about to speak.
“Ms. Glen, there are rules here in Luther Corporation. Outsiders have to make an appointment if they want to see someone here,” Elizabeth said as she deliberately emphasized the word “outsiders.” Suddenly, Gwyneth was at fault.
When the front desk employee heard that Elizabeth was on her side, she immediately said, “Ma’am, please do not disrupt our workplace environment.”
